US is a very capitalist country unlike UK and Europe. They don't have as much social security like the UK and the rest of Europe. European policies would focus on the overall welfare of the society over an individual welfare. Culturally, europeans are more frugal and less consumerist than your average american.

Also, US sheer size and population shouldn't be a called a country but a continent and the richest country on the earth. These factors affect the way their society perceives money and rewards people.
