How well did Reno and other hypocrites promote a South eastern presidency after SW and SS have taken their turns at Aso rock.

If the next southern project is not a 'South eastern project' for presidency, then forgerrit. We will still be here after 8 years, 16 years, 32years saying the same thing.

You all must learn a lesson..
Atiku is Fulani and he was still supported by Northerners. How many Fulanis will preside over Nigeria. The Igbo should have realised that the best candidate to win the next election from the South is from the SW.

South West don't care about South East and South South, it's always about them.

They've had their own turn, but will make things difficult for Igbos to achieve their own ambition, all because of 2023

Igbos should start using long Spoon when it comes to Yoruba Politicians. They don't want Igbos to smell Aso Rock, but God pass them...

If i become president I will make sure there is a tram in Lagos. It doesn't require lots of time to construct. This should be a councillor's project not a state project that they don't want us to hear word. I am well exposed you can't impress me with this. I am sure local champions will be impressed.
The British built a tramway in 1900, they also completed the Lagos to Ibadan railway 5 years earlier, today Nigeria will have to invite the Chinese to build a single line of rail track.
Steam tramway
Passenger and goods line
Between 1901 and 1902, public sanitation and mosquito eradication palliatives resulted in the construction of an iron bridge over Five Cowrie Creek and swamp land reclamation projects at Kokomaiko. When the colonial government completed the Lagos to Ibadan rail track, the terminal on the Lagos side ended on Lagos mainland and a system had to be devised to link Iddo with the Port of Lagos and other areas on the Island. In 1901, construction commenced of a single track over Carter Bridge.[1] The tram was open to the public in 1902, the passenger cars ran northwards from Kokomaiko in the Marina side of Lagos passing customs wharf then turning left into Balogun Street to Iddo train terminus via Ereko, Ebute Ero, Idumota and Carter Bridge.[2] The passenger line was one of the earliest public transport system built within Lagos, it carried travelers, traders and workers from the train station at Iddo going to Lagos Island.[1]

Foreign AffairsRe: Bulgaria To Replace Russian Gas Supply With Cheaper US LNG by sulaak(m): 9:52pm On May 14, 2022
ISabiDisturb:
If you followed the conversation by the OP you would have seen where he posted why the gas would be cheaper for Bulgaria and that is because they have a terminal they just linked to Greece.

Greece is barely 800km from Bulgaria while Russia is over 4000km from Bulgaria so do the math and tell me why Bulgaria would not be getting LNG supplied to them for cheaper?
The LNG gas will be extracted in the USA and then undergo a costly process of liquefaction in the USA, then shipped to Greece to be regasification into gas and then piped to Bulgaria.

You think that is cheaper than gas piped directly from Russia directly into Bulgaria

But all these efforts are accompanied by a serious doubt that the push for LNG cannot be sustained long-term and will die out organically given the competitiveness of Russian gas. Whether piped via NS2 or other routes, Russian gas can be priced more cheaply than LNG, which, in addition to the domestic price of gas, includes the cost of liquefaction, ocean transportation, and regasification.

Forget about the OP, there is no cheap gas from LNG, especially from Shale Oil LNG, this is simple propaganda, the US is subsidising the cost of LNG but for how long.

DeLaRue:
The report looks unprofessional. Some of the details appear unnecessary and too personal. Reads like a personal attack.

It is common for such complex construction projects to experience cost overrun and delays.

1. HSE rail project UK - going to cost over $130 billion, nearly 3 times the original estimate. UK govt is now reducing the distance of the rail in order to bring down the overall cost. And that's a government funded project.

2. Berlin's BER airport GERMANY - Was due to open in 2012. Just before its opening, inspectors found nearly 120,000 defects. It took another 10 years to correct the errors. It finally opened last year, nearly 10 years later. And Germans are supposed to be excellent engineers. Building an airport is not even half as complex as building what Dangote, a private individual, is trying to build in Lagos.

Dangote's project is monumental. He deserves recognition and indeed support for his courage in taking on this project.
Those two examples are government projects that are usually riddled with incompetent government works and corruption. You should use an example such as Elon Musk Giga factories that were completed ahead of schedule.

If Nigeria is going to succeed then it must encourage excellence and professionalism.

Chief what benefit will a SE or Igbo president offers Nigeria that will be any different from what we got from OBJ, GEJ and Buhari. Nigeria has a limited constitution that limits the social and economic development of all Nigerians and a political system that will immediately undermine any ambition of an Igbo president as it did against OBJ with the introduction of Sharia, GEJ with Boko Haram and Yaradua with the Niger-Delta militants.

The Igbo's were on the right track when their focus was solely on restructuring and in the particular regional restructuring that will reduce the power at the centre and increase regional and local self-sufficiency.

If the intention is to follow the North, SW and SS greedy grab for power for the small elites, then good luck to the SE, because nothing good can come out of the Nigerian 1999 constitution as was designed to fail.

obailala:
Developing the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) is as important to Nigeria's economy as all those other things you mentioned. It's not of lesser importance and neither is it of lower priority than the rest. Its impact on the country's economy would be tremendous, especially considering the sheer forex inflow and political advantage it would give to Nigeria.

The EU would not only pay top dollar for Nigerian gas, it would also pay top dollar to Nigeria for logistics (i.e. to use the pipeline). The revenue coming from that gas would encourage investment in developing further gas reserves (Nigeria currently hasn't tapped into up to 10% of it's gas reserves because we literally dont have the money for that, and neither do we even have the infrastructure to sell or utilise the gas). When gas reserves in more states, including non-niger delta states like Anambra, Benue, Bauchi are developed, do you have an idea how that would turn around the economy of those states including in the area of job creation? Is this what you're rubbishing simply because you think "one dumb APC fellow in govt is the one making the suggestion"?

In addition to the economic benefits, the TSGP would give Nigeria a major political and economic advantage in the European energy politics; besides nuclear weapons, the greatest strength and bargaining chip of Russia against the entire Europe is its gas. If Nigeria builds that pipeline, we would have a major voice in deciding how Europe treats us socially, politically and economically. If there's anyone who should be against that pipeline project, it should be the Kremlin (but strangely, it's Nigerians who speak against it).

Unfortunatley, a mass of the people on this thread who have rubbished the importance of the TSGP do so primarily beecause they are ill-informed or probably just playing ignorant politics (by ignorant politics I mean, several people here just feel an irresistable urge to criticise it because they feel it's being suggested by someone they have a contempt for).
We are very well informed and unlike you have analysed the risk that pertained to Nigeria delivering and operating a project of this magnitude. You just have to look at the current gas pipelines within the country.

Nigeria has already been down this part of large gas and crude projects that have failed woefully. In the 1990s Nigeria and IOCs developed the West African Pipeline project to transport Nigeria's abundant gas to Benin, Togo and Ghana. (https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-1-4020-9139-1_12)

The project's first failure was a Nigeria pirate boat anchor mistakenly cutting into the submerged gas pipeline and leaking seawater into the pipeline, which was fixed and later but Ghana discovered large gas and oil reserve which rendered the West African Pipeline close to redundant.

Senegal and Mauritania also have large offshore gas reserves that are closer to Morroco and the European market, as is the case in Europe where the Azerbaijani Gas pipeline through Turkey to Greece and Bulgaria is now replacing Russian gas to both countries, Senegal, Guinea and Mauritania gas projects will either cut into Nigeria gas profit margin or replace it entirely.

There is no advantage in European energy politics when the European can easily replace your gas with gas from another country. While not becoming relevant by building industries that can compete internationally, if Bangladesh and Vietnam can do it why can't Nigeria.

Vietnam has oil and gas but they have invested in growing their Electricity capacity from 32,000 to 76,0000MW to power industries that support $300 billion of export every year.

Nigeria already have uncompleted steel plants, redundant refineries and an aluminium smelter that are in need of electricity.

70% of Nigeria's Gas thermal power plants are without gas, yet you want to transport gas to Europe.

Where would that money come from? the sky? Nigeria currently burns away billions of dollars worth of gas through flaring. A suggestion is made to develop infrastructure to entrap those billions, but some persons think this is a bad idea because we dont have steel plants or copper smelters?

Building the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline through to Morocco/Algeria and connecting to Europe is an extremely brilliant ide; it's something Nigeria should have done 50 years ago if only we had good leaders.
The same money that Nigeria is wasting on oil subsidies. Since 2015, Buhari has increased the country's debt profile from $10 billion to nearly $40 billion, with the majority of the loans wasted on the consumption of imported goods and services.

Why not develop the steel plants, copper smelters, refineries, and Aluminium plants, fertiliser plants and petrochemical industries that will utilise the gas that the country is flaring.

It is cheaper and safer to develop these industries than build a gas pipeline that will be destroyed by Boko haram and ISWAP.

In 1960s, Nkrumah convinced USA Kaiser Aluminium and Reynolds Metal Company both from the United States of America to assist in the funding of the Volta Dam, which is a major source of electricity in Ghana. If Nkrumah could do it in the 1960s , while can't Nigeria do it in 2020s

As in I'm even shocked the way people agrees to that post. The man is talking as if the money is already there, all that's just left is a stroke of pen. In as much as we want to increase local distribution so also we should enhance our export. And which better customer can we sell to if not those in Europe. How many gas will our west African buy or can afford. Even the Nigeria market here is it profitable?
We have more than enough to export and for domestic use. All those industries mentioned requires money and this is an avenue to make such money. Nigeria is a very poor country and until we find a way to increase our IGR all those things mentioned will only be meagerly accomplished and we will still continue on the borrowing trends. Like almost any major infrastructure now we have to borrow to fund it.
This is normal market. If you have a shop and want to expand it you have to sell to the public not even your family members cause only then can you make more money to expand your shop. How many people fit consume gas for Nigeria, or we should start introducing gas subsidy another avenue to grossly decrease our income generation. Or we should start distributing free gas to people with stoves? Or creating more power generation plants when obviously the disco and consumer isn't on terms.
Nigeria is not poor but poorly led, if there is anything that I have learnt from the Ukraine war, Nigeria must avoid being a major primary exporter. Russia is paying the price of focusing and depending on commodity exports like gas, nickel, platinum and oil at the expense of industry substitution. Russia's GDP today is 1.4 Trillion, While China's focus on industrial production has led to a GDP of $14 Trillion economy.

Nigeria has lost millions of jobs in the textile and manufacturing sector because of lack of electricity, if the Morroco want Nigeria Gas they can build a pipeline to Nigeria at their own expense.

If Nigeria invests the $25 billion that is required to build that pipeline to Morrocco/Europe in increasing the country's oil output, building 4 Siemen 5000 MW gas turbines and a new 400k refinery the impact will exceed 10% GDP growth.

Huge and stupid?

We are still cooking with kerosine and Firewood and think the best thing to do is export gas.

When we export gas we export our children's future and jobs
Let us ask a simple question

What do those countries that buy our gas do with it and what do we buy from them in return

Google
List of top gas consuming countries you will find the top world economies

What we need to invest in is our capacity to distribute and use gas INSIDE Nigeria

That money should go on gas power plants in Nigeria and not gas pipelines for export.
Last year we made less than a billion USD from gas.

When that gas reaches Europe it would be retailed for much more(we lose)
It will contribute a lot more to their GDP and used in products which we then end up importing e.g. fertilizers(we lose again)

Among the most energy intensive products are
Basic Chemicals( Germany is one of the leading producers)
Steel
Cement
Foods e.g chocolates,beverages,tobacco
Paper
plastics
Glass
Aluminium
ALL products that we import a lot

All products we have no business importing

Strategically we should focus on using our energy for Value Addition

Does it make sense for us to

Sell cassava to anyone and then buy gari in return?

But FOR DECADES

we are buying petrol and diesel

We should not compound that folly by

putting our money into pipelines for gas to Europe

We can never get a fair price for it and we should focus on using it to boost our own economy

Let us aim to be a world leader in Glass and fertilizer . We have everything needed for that. Why export it?

Rather les us offer free or very cheap gas for 10 years for companies to come and open manufacturing plants

Glass is a big deal not gas
There is growing glass market of $120 billion worldwide, growing fertilizer market, growing steel and cement market

That should be our focus
Morocco and Europe want the gas to create jobs and for energy security, Nigeria should be looking for money to build steel plants, refineries, power plants and copper smelters.
