Not everything u read online is correct, and u may not have d knowledge for detailed understanding. stop misleading ur self. now let me school u a bit. Peptic Ulcer has Notin to d with the walls of the intestine. the intestine includes the small and Large intestines. Peptic Ulcer wch is d discussion here includes d Gastric (Stomach) And Duodenal Ulcers ( 1st Part of d duodenum), so u see u r wrong saying ulcer involves d walls of d intestine. A good medical history will differentiate d two types which will make a doctor decide for appropriate investigations whether Endoscopy or other investigations: Barium Swallow, follow-through tests etc. chest pain is one of patients complaint. history will determine if d pain is of gastric or cardiac origin. then examination will follow after thorough history taking. I dnt need to go further here bfore I start sounding mystical to u bc u dnt belong here. so ask ur Doctors for details explanation if u get confused. Dnt rely on Google, rely on ur doctors. Medical cert can't be achieved tru Google. Some Doctors dnt go thorough through it all, mayb for patient workload or other reasons best known to them. but as a patient, it is ur right to knw what ur diagnosis is, and what relevant investigations medications would suffice. Dnt keep shut, always ask when in doubt. good Patient-Doctor relationship in terms of communication is lacking in our health sector. we should do our best as patient or Doctor to sort this out.

The best test to diagnose an ulcer is an endoscopy. It's invasive, and has its own associated risk. It has to be done in an operating room, and its very very expensive. I think it may cost at least 70k.
Now, in Naija, doctors always have to consider costs when dealing with patients.
There are different things that may cause chest pains, the site of the chest pain is also equally important. Certain questions you ask will help you to determine the cause. In fact, in medicine it's believed that 80-90% of your diagnoses should be made on asking patients questions alone, and the remaining 10-20% confirmed by your investigations. A good history/questioning goes a long way.

You are the one being defensive now aren't you? No one is shutting you up. What determines the overall cost of the treatment or services you receive in a place? I don't think you're in the position to decide how much you should be charged. Some hospitals take as much as 20000 for a consultation minus the medication that you're given.
I asked you to try a general hospital not because their services are crap, but rather because you don't pay for consultation, and you can always take the prescription you're given to any pharmacy of your choice thereby saving you costs. #5000 naira is not much and its less than £20 GBP, at the rate things are in Naija now, and that's very small money.
Now, worldwide healthcare is expensive, but in developed countries, their govt makes it a priority and spend an unimaginable amount of money just to provide services which may not even be utilised atimes. But it is still their responsibility to provide it cos you never can know when it might be needed.
In naija, its not a priority, and very very few citizens can afford a standard private hospital. Infact, I doubt if 5% of Nigeria's population can afford standard private hospital, but they are available.

N.B- You could have simply asked your doctor what he meant by a throaty/ chesty cough. A lot of folks with no medical background know what a chesty cough is BTW.
You could have just described the cough from your observations, especially in children as that may help with the diagnosis.

Please get your facts right lest you mislead the public. I am a certified teacher of English language. Of all the three terms in an academic session, 2nd term is usually the shortest term. It's just 12 weeks as against the 14 and 16 weeks of 1st and 3rd term respectively. Rushing an already short term is disastrous to the academic health of any Nigerian child.
The issue of Easter usually causes issues because the date is not static like Christmas. Last year Easter was celebrated in April and thankfully it didn't affect the academic calendar. But this year, it was slated for March. Are you saying if someday it is fixed in February, we will have to run a term in 8weeks? We as academicians can't afford to sacrifice the future of education in this country on the altar of prejudice and religious bigotry.. I am a Christian and I support El rufai's decision.
