Bros..no argue..abeg take correction from victstar..ur use of "phantom" in dat context is lexically wrong..
"Fathom", "picture" or "imagine" can work thr coz they express the verb sense in that clause.
"Phantom" however is a noun and can never be nominalized as a verb(as u wan use scope do am), Moreover, u can't use a noun to express an action, only verbs do this job.
"Can't" is a modal verb dat needs a lexical verb(a main verb) coupled with it to express the action. "Fathom" does that job.
The meaning of "phantom" sef no even correlate with ur topic. The issue u raised aint an illusion mehn..it's a reality in today's society..no vex say I tackle u..we r 1..

I just laff @ peeps that keep sayin fayose is popular in ibadan dis and dat. He came to ib for coronation and stole the show... even a madman can steal the show anyday in ibadan and be talked about for decades! Ask old men for dis or dat mad man in the 70s or 80s or 90s etc, they'd recount tales of such displays like its one very big event that must not be missed.

The point i'm making is because ibadan peeps troop out to see a guest doesnt mean they love that person, its just a show to them so that events of that day can be used as beer or palmwine or "ayo" game or draught game talk for anybody that was present to brag. They dont need money to grace such events, all dey nid is info to know where its gonna happen and time!

believe me you're very wrong. That wasn't a gathering of shame, it was a popularity gathering. People love Fayose not for his good governance but his closeness to the common men on the street. And besides he is a chronic pain to the camp of apc. People need vocal men like fayose to speak up against this terrible government. Don't call him mad for his boldness. You're the 'were' here! No offence meant.
hmmm, guy/babe, u dont understand the ways of the yorubas. They can come out to cheer whom they'd betray/kill next minute. They WILL come out en-masse to jubilate a mad man's display, and will be on hand to watch his incarceration. That's yoruba for you, you can be popular for the wrong reasons!

oh, and lemme add that its not hard to rent a crowd in ibadan (or anywhere else, but ibadan na the chairman) for free!!! crowd gathering is a sport in ibadan, no need for your money, the stories afterwards (mostly made-up to brag about their involvement in such event) could last them months!

NUMBER 3: The Parents

*Modified*
I feel so honoured to be the first comment. All of my hard work and dedication has finally paid off. Getting the top comment has been a dream of mine for many years, First and foremost i would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity. Next I would like to thank my parents. I want to thank my friends Antonio(Silvertongue), Seun(Stamina), and my best friend Remmymerlin and also my NL crush, Debbywills, and my lovely bro Leyelanre for being really heavy, strong, and always there for me. I want to thank my friend Wisexool benni, for being really fat and always there for me. I would also like to thank my pet tadpol for surviving against all odds for over a week. Next I would like to thank the squirrel that lives in my backyard for climbing trees because that gives me inspiration that I need to get through the day. This is a special moment in my life and I would like to thank any of my unmentioned friends and family that have helped me along the way. This moment will be a moment that I will never forget. I just remembered a few other people I would like to thank; Facebook , the fish I caught in SS1, the bulb in my room because I wouldn’t be able to see the keyboard without it, the internet for letting me go on Nairaland, my house because without it I would be homeless, and last but not least I would like to thank all the people out there that actually took time out of their day to read this. I cannot stress how much of a big deal to me this is. I have been trying to be the first comment on a post for years, but that has not been possible until this amazing day. Hopefully my good luck will continue, but this is undoubtedly a rare occasion. If you asked how I did this, I would say, you can achieve anything you set your mind on. To all the people out there reading this, I would like to tell them to follow their dreams. Being the top comment is amazing, thank you everyone. Thank you Nairaland. God bless you all.

Very possible.. When I started having those flashbacks, I was still very small, usually frightening but later got to know about d whole concept out of curiosity.. Web search, articles and all.
I just know some things I dnt think I should be aware of, and I can be very caring too lol.. One of my female friends in sec.schl once asked if I was an angel roaming d earth cos of the 'angellic aura'.. I cnt forget cos I laughed hard that day
I asked why and she said.. You're just diff. From us

The things is.. I cnt rule out the possibility of this theory being real and I still believe God exists
*thumbs up*
The theory doesnt dispel the existence of God, rather it makes us appreciate Him the more but it also means we have more question than we can get answers to and that's where science and philosophy comes in where people will then label such person an atheist. The soul is a mystery that can not be solved but can only try to understand it as it concerns each individual.

Every one of those women are going to be paid well for that so called protest.

Most Nigerian protests are always sponsored.

The average Nigerian would rather die suffering than stand up to fight.

Same reason there will never be a revolution in this country
@bolded, i agree with you 1000%. Its a damn shame. APC is just continuing what PDP started by using a different dimension but Nigerians are afraid of either this or that!

bigfrancis21, this is for you...

As far back as a 10-yr-old, i started asking myself "what's my purpose here?" and my journey started. My quest in finding the suitable answer to this question guided me through my secondary school yrs, shaped my adolescent life and as i went through life i realised i've been here before! Nothing new to see/do, i've experienced life before, nothing to suprise me or make me awe-struck and i only await three events even dis my life: how i'd feel when my aged folks die and when i see my own child born. Those are the two things i look forward to maybe i'd be emotional about the or not and that'd tell me if i experienced them before too because all other things just look/sound stale. At some times i just sit and being the last of 11 children think of the hurt i'd go through in losing my beloved elder siblings one after d other at old age (my mind/soul keeps telling me i'd grow old like my parent are doing ryt nw) and after complaining dats its unfair on me i'd just shrug it off and say "i'd be a good father to all the grandchildren of d house." Perhaps dats why i'm here? Perhaps science will vindicate my presence here (i'm a young academic researcher), perhaps i've gotten to d end of my soul cycle and just waiting to go home to rest.... perhaps... but i do crave (my mind does it as if its pleading for it) for one more re-incarnation where everytin wld be the same as this. Why? ....because i want to be in this same family, with the same set of souls and get married to this same woman that understands me like no other can (even my siblings!)... perhaps i'd get that chance of one more life! Still, in the midst of it all, after questioning Him about where he really stays in the sky and what he really could be doing at particular points in time, the only true prayer i have been able to say with 100% conviction is "Lord, let thy will be done". The soul is a miracle and God is wonderful!!!

Definitely an Adult/Mature Soul. It seems like whoever wrote that part sat down and studied me.

I've never really been moved by material things. The only thing that interests me is trying to understand why this world is so fvcked up and the rationale behind God's plans. Of course money is needed for comfort in this journey called life, but surely, isn't it a mystery that...we...ARE?

Bigfrancis21, thanks for this lovely thread.
Honestly i love the piece. I've always been aware of myself as an adult/matured soul ever since i was an adolescent. I dont get suprised by anything and i see dis earthlife as somtin dat'll pass by and i'd move on to the next on to reincarnate again if i still have d opportunity left, so no need to get trapped in its hustle and bustle. I remember when i was moving to a town as an 18-year old and my mind told me "welcome home" i immediately felt @ peace and its been so to dis moment. So many other things which the mouth cannot speak dat mind informs us... it teaches me that the soul is on a journey and this body is its vessel at this point in its journey, and i hav to try and do normal eventho dis flesh strays me most times. I wish myself a safe landing at the end of its sojourn

Dont mind dem. Ojukwu was not just bombing Nigeria, he was raping and carrying out massacre as they moved inwards towards the west and the igbo elites saw nothing bad in it (achebe included)! So how could such a brutal person and race claim victim when they started it (achebe would later paint a picture of igbo massacre in his book while going silent and kind on the atrocities of b1afraud soldiers!).

was asking the guy that claimed that Zik was aware of the coup that's why he went on vacation.
And who told you Zik wasnt aware of a possible coup. Mind you, before the Ifeajuna-Nzeogwu coup, there was already a coup idea sold to the Zik but he quelled it in the view that the it was unhealthy for a new democracy. But by the 65-66, Zik was disillusioned already becos he wasnt the one making the major decisions of Nigeria and his alliance with the north that effectively removed his "friend" awolowo from the centre had been smartly cornered by the northerners whom the british trusted. Kindly go and find and read the letter he sent to Ironsi while on "vacation" after learning of the coup and thinking it was a total success, then you'd realise that zik knows more than the official Nigerian accounts of the coup tells us.

Yorubas were much better educated than the Igbos at that time; though some of them would rather want you to believe the reverse. There is a reason even the Bible was translated to Igbo by Ajayi Crowther.

Gowon was a gentleman. Left to some Northerners (and even Murtala Mohammed who was originally from Auchi), the entire Igbo ethnic group would've been wiped out.
Yes, murtala is ruthless but he wouldnt have allowed Ojukwu to go to war for the issue to be resolved. He'd rather have ojukwu and other top ibo soldiers executed for nothing than kill an entire race, that was how commanding he could be (according to history oo, i no dey dia ooo). Gowon smiled and laughed with ojukwu but systematically pushed him to war, knowing ojukwu's mind was almost made up and the time for full-scale hausa retaliation beckoned!

Nope, they simply struck while the house was empty- while they were away- simply put as a "palace coup", no need to kill anybody because nobody dey house! (although idiagbon had to pay because they saw him as the real motivation behind buhari) In the nigerian case no bloodshed but turkey's own failed that's why people died left right n centre.
Also, Balewa was the real president, Zik was just figure-head.

logicab:
Long and short; these guys were cold blooded murderers. Remember even one of the wives of the Sardauna was shot dead. It was no error. They just did not care who they killed. That night at the palace, Nzeogwu personally shot 3 of the guards and one of his own subordinates who did not follow orders quickly enough.

She was confirmed pregnant. That was why she, who was only 6 years old at the time was asked. The interviewer already knew she was pregnant at the time she was murdered.

Yes, Ifeajuna the mastermind knew exactly the purpose of the coup. He used Awolowo's detention to fool Ademoyega knowing the typical educated Yoruba man's deification of Awo. Awo was in jail, and according to them they wanted to release him and make him Prime Minister. So how come no action (and I mean NONE at all) was observed at the Calabar Prison where Awo was being held at the time? That says a lot.
What happened then, is what the ibos are trying to do now. They always require a fool to achieve their selfish motives and they've always seen Yorubas as the gullible ones as the hausas already know them too well. If Ademoyega in his book thinks the three officers (him, ifeajuna and nzeogu) conceived the idea of the coup he's missing something. The ibo clan via their elites decided they deserve the power due to their high level of literacy and business acumen (they had more literate pple and the highest placed back then in the country), and since the british trusts the hausas more they needed the yoruba soldiers to support their view gullibly and seize the country. If that had happened we could have witnessed the genocide of congo back in the 60s! Instead, their plan backfired and the hausas waited and throughly treated their fuckup via gowon! (forget aburi, aburi accord was just a show for the western world, ojukwu's mind was made up already)
