PoliticsRe: Money Or Power, Which Would You Prefer And Why? by Sweetlemon(op): 10:36am On May 29, 2013
Mr_Nice_Guy: moneny initiate respect with lead to power in this modern word... get it indirectly from this analogy.. you steal small you are jailed, YOU STEAL BIG, YOU ARE MADE A KING,.. then afterwards it becomes a positive feedback.. you get richer and more powerful..
True, but do you realize that a rich man looses all his influence once the money leaves him?
If Bill gates is declared bankrupt today, do you think people will still fall over themselves just to hear him speak? That's the world we live in today! People leave you out in the cold when you are broke!
But Bill clinton, and all other ex-presidents or governors will always have that respect. They will forever have people who are loyal to them no matter what. That's the thing about power, it's fragrance lasts much longer and can always help me get back on your feet anytime you fall
I think that's why men like Dangote fratenize with politicians! Dangote is a smart man he understands the benefit of this and uses it.

Jonathan used to be a lecturer before now.I'm sure he is the best person to answer this kind of question considering the fact that he came from a very poor family !
Can you please elaborate for the benefit of people who may not understand your point?
PoliticsMoney Or Power, Which Would You Prefer And Why? by Sweetlemon(op): 9:59am On May 29, 2013
Money begats power and respect and power helps you gather money.
But if given a choice to pick one, which would it be and why?

romeo: weldone pdp, only in a country like Nigeria will her educated illiterates called citizens not see anything wrong with a governor of a state flying arround with a private executive jet. How much does that state generate apart from federal allocations? Amechi is such a nuisance
is he the only governor with a jethuh
You are so gullible!
PoliticsRe: Rotimi Amaechi Has Been Suspended From PDP by Sweetlemon(f): 1:45pm On May 27, 2013
This just goes to show that most people who appear weak or gentle can do things that will surprise the devil himself.
I never though Jonathan to be a weakling. I have always known that the man knows exactly what he is doing.

IslamRe: Things Muslim Communities Can Do To Curb Extremism by Sweetlemon(f):
God bless all the good muslims in the world.
See, I served in Kaduna and was among the corpers who participated in the 2011 voters card registeration. I was posted to one of the most radical parts of Kaduna where a large number of the women cover everywhere apart from their eyes.
These people ended up being so hospitable to me that I later felt ashamed of my earlier conclusions about them. On the last day of the registerations, The women and children cried while the men looked regretful to see me leave them. I will never forget my experience there as I have never been so well received anywhere else in my life.
It's just a pity that some bad guys are spoling their name.
I urge all well meaning muslims out there to please please please do something about this. Please! Enough is enough. Haven't you guys seen enough blood to make you uncomfortable and embarrassed enough to do something tangible?
It won't be an easy feat, but just start from somewhere. Little drops of water makes a mighty ocean.
In addition to what the OP has listed already, let me add this;
The internet is a very good medium for mobilizing people (this is in fact one of the most useful tools of terrorists!). Imams and other clerics will come in handy for illiterates and people who are more vulnerable to being brainwashed.
God help us all!
It is well!

RomanceRe: Chubby Ladies On Nairaland, pls Share Your Love Life Experience by Sweetlemon(f): 8:30am On May 24, 2013
Cherish100: I'm a chubby and very attractive young woman. Well,I can't remember an instance where I was with a skinny girl and she was more preferred, so to speak. I think its because I'm confident in myself. You can't intimidate me with your looks, however you are. Instead I'll admire you and we move on. I've been in a few relationships and my weight hasn't been a problem. Besides, I have no problem with people commenting on my weight. Infact, before you bring it up, I must have mentioned it. Sometimes, people call me chubby, plumpy, thick, fat...blah blah blah. I now see it as a compliment. My boyfriend loves me for me and instead of complaining when I add weight, we discuss on how to shed it. Don't forget there're some people who've tried all they can to add weight but have been unsuccessful. I walk with my head high, knowing that I'm pretty and plump. So my dear friends, just love yourself and if people can't love you the way u are, its their problem.
Wish I could like this a million times!
You really need to teach some NL girls how not to feel intimidated and envious of other girls.
You are beautiful! And that's not flattery cos from your picture, I can see you are curvy and not just fat and shapeless!
RomanceRe: Chubby Ladies On Nairaland, pls Share Your Love Life Experience by Sweetlemon(f):
Hmmmmmm
Dear OP, and all other plus size ladies here, I'm going to be very frank and practical with you as I believe that is the best approach to issues like this.
Now dear. Let me ask you these questions;
1. Do you like being overweight irrespective of wether or not you have a serious bf?
2. Why do you want a boyfriend?

If your answer to my 1st question is yes, then I will advice you to love your body and learn how to dress your size. Wear clothes to fit and compliment your body perfectly. If you are not sure how to go about it, please google "dress styles for plus size women" or dress styles for apple shaped women" (if you are apple shaped) wearing the right kinds of clothes will make you look mpre attractive.
If the answer to the question is no, and you wish for a slimmer body, then by all means hit the gym ASAP! Loose that body fat fast so you can bring out the woman you wish to be. Do not loose focus or give up until you get to your desired weigh so you can start loving yourself again. The truth is that for women generally, self esteem starts from the outside! A woman has to love her looks before she can start loving herself.

That's the physical approach to solving your problem. Now let's tackle the psychological approach.

Why do you want a boyfriend? If it's because you just need someone to be lavishing compliments on you, hold you, kiss you, warm you up, spend on you, and so you can convince yourself that you are desireable, then sorry, you are not ready for a relationship yet as you will only be attracting the wrong guys who will just want to take advantage of you.
No man will love and appreciate you until you learn to love yourself. Reason being that men are programed to act the way you allow them to and most guys get bored and tired of things that do not excite them.
Wait patiently (trust me I know how hard it is) to find a guy who will love and cherish the woman that's in you. While you are waiting, it is important that you use to opportunity to work on your inner self. Do away with envy, back bitting, gossips, rudeness, and all such vices which some ladies are notorious for. Replace them with friendliness and cheerfulness. Learn to have a mind of your own.

After following all these baby, you will be ready to paint the town red with your new love! Congratz in advance! wink
Foreign AffairsRe: British Soldier Beheaded In Woolwich, London by Sweetlemon(f): 12:29am On May 23, 2013
ogugua88: Well, me telling you the number of Nigerian professionals in a nation without knowing the total population of Nigerians in either country is rather pointless. That's basic statistics.

There are Nigerian professionals in the UK, and quite frankly, that's all that matters. If someone made it, then someone else can. What I've noticed is that a lot of Nigerian criminals in both the UK and USA are on the bottom side of the financial ladder and often blame the government for their woes. There may be some truth in that, but the bottom line is that anyone who wants to ascend can ascend. The Nigerian criminals I read of tend to be lazy good-for-nothings who want to get rich fast or use religion to make a silly point.

The fact that you're using this monstrosity of a crime to rubbish the UK is crazy. If they granted you or anyone else a visa tomorrow morning, something tells me some folks will be selling hair and phones for the next ticket out of Lagos and into London.
Oguguuaaaaaaa I beg you in the name of almighty Jehovah, biko, I no rubbish any country o! Biko nu, I no come here fight anybody. Just responded to what someone said about U.K and U.S
I'm not saying U.K is bad, just saying that U.S is a much better place for the AVERAGE black man to live and grow in.
Is that enough reason for you and your girls to order for my head?

I can see this thread has been taken over by the devoted Sweetlemon haters!
Lol!
You see guys, itsmodella, Idowuogbo, and co, after all that happened then, I look at myself and I couldn't believe that I actually gave you so much attention and played in the mud with you. I still hit my head on the wall when I remember how I used to do that. But you see dears, this sweetlemon here is back and better, more polished with little or no time for playing in the mud.

ItsModella: Because you're the only one who thought it was cool to throw jabs at the Nairalanders living in the UK. Don't try to act like the victim as is your second nature. As long as you keep typing like a dumb blonde, I won't stop quoting you.
You really need to see how envious you sound honey. You'd be ashamed of youself! Gosh! can't you even try to hide your jealousy?
Jeez mehn!
You need some self-esteem builder asap!
Foreign AffairsRe: British Soldier Beheaded In Woolwich, London by Sweetlemon(f): 12:01am On May 23, 2013
ogugua88: For starters, the UK is roughly the size of Oregon and the US population is about five times of that in the UK. There are bound to be more professionals in the US. As for the ratio of Nigerian professionals to the Nigerian population, no, I do not know. If you know, then tell us. What I do know is that most African professionals are Nigerians. That's true in most western countries.
I'm sure you know I was not speaking in terms of population but generally. Ok, let's put it like this, can you say there more sucessful people in the U.K than in Georgia or texas?

Foreign AffairsRe: British Soldier Beheaded In Woolwich, London by Sweetlemon(f): 11:57pm On May 22, 2013
For the records, I live in Lagos, Nigeria. Not America (saying this to let you guys know that I'm not trying to form yankee babe) but I have family and friends in both countries hence my conclusions. Most of the ones in U.K want to relocate to the U.S but none from the U.S want to relocate to the UK
Foreign AffairsRe: British Soldier Beheaded In Woolwich, London by Sweetlemon(f): 11:48pm On May 22, 2013
ogugua88: Missy, where are you? What 50calibre told you in terms of education, health care, and the pounds sterling is spot on. We pay through our noses for everything in the United States. Most Nigerians who are successful here put in decades of hard work to become the doctors, nurses, and engineers that most of them are. The US looks peachy when you're outside. Lord knows the kind of school fees I and others are paying, and I haven't even applied for medical school yet. Most students graduate with tens of thousands of dollars worth of debt and no job to pay it off. I don't see England as the cesspit you and others wish to paint it as.
And how many professionals do you hear of in the U.K ma? Can you honestly and confidently tell us that there are more professionals and sucessful people in the U.K than in the U.S??
Foreign AffairsRe: British Soldier Beheaded In Woolwich, London by Sweetlemon(f): 11:26pm On May 22, 2013
obadiah777: THE MOST EDUCATED ? SO WHAT ? THEY ARE STILL 'NI-GGERS' ARENT THEY ? LISTEN HERE, ALL THAT NIGERIANS ARE THIS AND THAT IN AMERICA MAY WORK WITH SOME PEOPLE BUT DONT TRY THAT OVER HERE. I LIVED IN THAT GOD FORSAKEN COUNTRY FOR MANY YEARS. I KNOW WHAT GOES ON THERE WITH NIGERIANS. OVER 70 PERCENT OF NIGERIANS ARE CAB DRIVERS. THE ONES WHO ARENT CAB DRIVERS ARE INTO ALL KINDS OF FRAUD. THEN YOU HAVE THE CREAM OF THE CROP WHO ARE MOSTLY SECOND GENERATION NIGERIANS, BUT FOR THE MOST PART WHEN I WAS THERE, MOST NIGERIANS I ENCOUNTERED WERE HOMESICK. THEY CANT STAND THE PLACE. BUT THEY ARE STUCK. ONLY SECOND GENERATION NIGERIANS ENJOY THE PLACE
Sorry, but You really don't sound like someone who has been to or lived in the U.S. This sounds more like hearsay
Foreign AffairsRe: British Soldier Beheaded In Woolwich, London by Sweetlemon(f): 11:17pm On May 22, 2013
obadiah777: STOP LYING ON A PUBLIC FORUM. AMERICAN JAILS ARE FILLED WITH NIGERIANS WHO DO CREDIT CARD FRAUDS, MORTGAGE FRAUD, MEDICAID FRAUD AND SELLING HEROINE WHICH THEY BRING IN FROM PAKISTAN. THE PLACE IS A SAVAGE NATION. OF COURSE YOU HAVE SUCCESSFUL NIGERIANS ( WHATEVER THAT MEANS ) BUT MAJORITY ARE THIEVES LOOKING FOR A FAST BUCK
But it's true that Nigerians in America are more focused and less likely to turn to terrorists/rebels than the ones in d UK. They are more interested in making money than in "fighting" for any "cause" I think it's because America has better living conditions and opportunities than UK. UK is not a good place for Aficans that are not well educated (very high educational qualifications) or well connected to live in. I can travel to the U.K for holidays but I wouldn't dream of living there.
PoliticsRe: 2015 Election: Jonathan (PDP) Vs Fashola (APC) by Sweetlemon(f): 12:59pm On May 22, 2013
qualified: Hmm. I doubt if Tinubu or Fashola can go near power in 2015. With their recent attitude n kicking against d one decision most Nigerians hailed d president for.
I don't think so, as you can see, GEJ is slowly sooting himself in the foot by ordering the release of captured boko haram suspects alongside their wives and children because he wants to use the "carrot ans stick approach"
If by the end of the year this approach backfires, ACN will have the last laugh

Afam4eva: This thread is not about whether a governor developed every part of the state but about whether the governor developed any part to some measurable extent. Is Uyo and Ikot Ekpene in kaduna? Are they not in AK?
Why should he only concerntrate on just 1 or 2 parts of a state with 31 LGAshuhhuh??
Does it make sense?
He is not completely inactive, but he is definitely overrated
