HealthRe: Anambra Bans Preservation Of Corpses In Mortuaries by Swingate(m): 6:05am On May 01, 2020
This should be law in Nigeria, all corpses should be buried within 7 days after death. Then on a later date the ceremonies and the traditional rights can follow, this will reduce the amount of pressure on the families. May God continue to bless the good people of Nigeria.
HealthRe: Coronavirus: Amaka Okoro Wanted In Edo By Governor Obaseki by Swingate(m): 4:19pm On Apr 30, 2020
This is getting messy, what are people afraid of and why are they running away from treatment ? The government should show people where they would be kept and treated and assure them of their safety.
There should direct land open ink between the local governments and the community leaders, this will take correct information directly from the government to the people to prevent rumours.

Even if u didnt read d body, didnt u read d topic too? The basis is there.

Some women can never be satisfied, it's their nature. I noticed that they always hate anything they have in abundance, before you know it they start looking for what they don't have.
Be a man, make women happy by not giving them everything.

I'm happy you recovered and humbled by the experience, please do not forget to use the experience to do things differently this time around.
God personally gave you a second chance, because even though you had the best doctors around, God allowed the infection to stay inside you for 40 days and 40 nights.
PoliticsRe: Lockdown: Ongoing Protest In My Area, At Ibeju Lekki by Swingate(m): 10:40am On Apr 27, 2020
This is ignorance at its peak, why burn tires on tar? This is just absolute nonsense. The government should not allow this, they should get there fast and clamp down hard on these people. Although they have a case because the government did not put any strategy on ground to reach the grassroots and make the hardship caused by the lock down a little bit easier.

On the other hand, Nigeria has done a good job so far in fighting this virus compared to some western countries but they have failed in the management of the imposed lock down. My people please don't be stupid , please reject any rushed opening of the lock down because this epidemic has a life span of 70 days before it dies of, the peak will be from 40 days and then the numbers will go down. Any rushed opening of the lock down now that we are approaching it's peak period will be catastrophic .

SavageResponse:
What do you mean the lockdown is poorly managed?

Do you expect Buhari to personally be the one to go and enforce the lockdown?!

The government gave an instruction yet stupid Nigerians refused to comply and at the same time members of our security agencies see it as an opportunity to make money and have been collecting money from people to let them move about.

The reason why lockdown is not working is because of the inherent corrupt nature of Nigerians and not because of management afterall lockdown worked in Ghana!
Yes I know what you mean and understand your argument but everyday I look outside the window I see the lapses from the government, when you make a law in a country you also have to show your presence to sensitise people and also enforcement if needed. In the case of Nigeria and Lagos for example we need proper enforcement this is because of the population ignorance and poverty.
This is what the government should do in this case.
1, set up a well trained team to go around and educate people on the need to take responsibility for their actions.
2, set a hotline to report lockdown violators.
3, set up mobile courts to handle cases of hotline violators quickly and community service should be punishment.
4, Buy foodstuff directly from whole sellers and sell them at an affordable price directly to the public weekly in an open and we'll organized environments.
5, Ask all families with any sick person at home to call in and register their address, this information can be used to conduct random tests.

These are some of the things we expect to see from the government, we are all in this together and although I believe the Lagos State government is doing well in treatment and tracking of contacts more needs to be done to produce more positive results.
PoliticsRe: Bode George: Nigeria Fighting COVID-19 Pandemic With Kid Gloves, I'm Unimpressed by Swingate(m): 7:51am On Apr 23, 2020
This man is actually right on this one, the response is just like playing to a poorly written script. The lockdown is poorly managed and the outreach to the masses is still slow.
My advise to the government is to get people on ground to educate people on the need to take this disease seriously and obey the social distancing order. Everyday in surulere I still see people in almost all the streets playing serious football and nobidy comes to have a chat with them, the markets are still over crowded each day and the people are also faced with hunger.

HealthRe: Coronavirus: 2 Vedic Lifecare Hospital Workers Test Positive In Lagos by Swingate(m): 3:47pm On Apr 20, 2020
The NCDC should collect samples from all private hospitals in Lagos State for testing. This is because most cases are related to private hospitals, most times the people are not even aware they have the virus.
PoliticsRe: 428,941 Nigerians Got Cash In 24 States, 130,455 From Katsina – Minister by Swingate(m): 11:28am On Apr 20, 2020
Subsidize the price of essential commodities so people can get them very cheap. The government should setup selling centers where people should be allowed to buy only what they need in a week , n a controlled environment.
The regular markets should be closed to the public
PoliticsRe: Abba Kyari’s Burial: Momoh Defends Presidency, Says Mourners Cant Be Chased Away by Swingate(m): 10:11am On Apr 20, 2020
That burial was a let down by the federal government, we understand perfectly why it happened but we must not do things this way.
The burial was supposed to be conducted by NCDC, the moment death is confirmed to be caused by Covid 19.
The family can watch from a safe distance or be provided with proper PPE and be disinfected properly after the burial.
PoliticsRe: Foodstuff Dealers Accuse Police Of Extortion On Highways During Lockdown by Swingate(m): 9:52am On Apr 20, 2020
for God's sake the government should not turn their backs on these important people. Imagine when you have money and nothing to buy? The federal government should do everything within its power to ensure steady food supplies are allowed in daily and security escorts should be provided for the very large supplies.
Without food there will be serious problems in this country.
Another way the government can help the masses this time is to subsidize the price of food items. Get registered sellers and pay them half of the price of their goods, then they can sell it to the consumers at half the price for food items only . This will help people a lot thanks.

CrimeRe: Lockdown: Policeman Shoots Woman In Delta During Hunger Protest by Swingate(m): 9:58am On Apr 16, 2020
This reminds me of the movie walking dead, people will turn against people and sometimes create a colony and attack outsiders.
Food sellers are now scared to go and restock because of insecurity.
PoliticsRe: Delta Women Protest Over Lockdown Extension In The State (Photos) by Swingate(m): 9:44am On Apr 16, 2020
This is happening because the government are not going grass root to educate the local communities on the danger and the consequences of allowing this disease to spread. And also the government should find genuine way to reach the poor and the needy, provide them food and security during this hard time.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Orders 4,000 Coronavirus Tests Daily by Swingate(m): 1:22pm On Apr 15, 2020

HealthRe: 25 New Cases Of Coronavirus In Lagos, Total Of 217 Cases by Swingate(m): 1:02pm On Apr 15, 2020
Fellow Nigerians let's work together to end this lock down as soon as possible. Let us stay indoors for 7 days straight and allow the health officials to do their jobs so that the number of new cases will reduce drastically so the restrictions will be lifted gradually.
We will only record success when the number of new cases starts reducing not by number of people discharged. Please educate people let's work together. But if we keep playing this partial lock down games we will remain home until June.
CrimeRe: Covid-19 Lockdown: Lagos Unrest, As Residents Live In Fear Of Hoodlums by Swingate(m): 3:50pm On Apr 12, 2020
This is becoming alarming in Lagos State, the police and the Lagos State government should go hard on these guy's and place a very high jail term on cultism offences and enforce it.
These guys are not that intelligent, infiltrate their groups catch their leaders and make them reveal each and every member of the group and punish them accordingly.
TravelRe: Coronavirus: 23 Nigerian Returnees Arrive Seme Border From Lome by Swingate(m): 3:02pm On Apr 12, 2020
The NCDC should have staff at all the major entry points in Nigeria. Even if they do not have the kit for testing they should conduct handling of returnees themselves in a safe manner until the main team arrive for proper testing. This will reduce any chance of mistakes by the immigration officers at the border.
HealthRe: COVID-19: Despite Lockdown, Lagos, Ogun Cases Rise By 100% In 11 Days; Abuja 150 by Swingate(m): 8:50am On Apr 12, 2020
The problem is that lockdown is not working because people still gather around. When you put a lock down in place you need healthy officials to go round and ensure compliance and educate most people who think the disease Covid 19 is only for the rich. You don't just tell people to stay home without a plan. For example the markets still run in a tight crowded environment. I only saw something online about new market locations on some streets during the lockdown but nobody enforced it.
Secondly the lock down only stopped people from going to work but did not stop them from playing street football and drinking in crowded beer spots all night.
Thirdly Nigeria is not like western countries that you make announcements on TV and expect people to take you seriously. Nigerians are superstitious in nature and many believe there is something spiritual about this situation so they prefer self medication than going to the government for help. Another issue is the fear of stigmatization and non availability of testing centers in local areas. For example if someone is having a cough and fever and tdecide to call NCDC, they will ask you if you have been in contact with someone who has been confirmed or your travel history and if the answer is no, then you are referred to your GP. If you have to go to Yaba center yourself for testing then you could infect more people on your way if you are positive already especially if you don't have a car.
Another problem is that WHO and scientists are not really sure about the way the virus spreads , some scientists are now working on a theory that this disease can remain in the air long enough for people to inhale it and get infected. Even if you wear mask your eyes are still exposed. This is not proven yet but in the light of the uncertainty I beg everyone to stay at home if possible. It takes little to get infected and a lot to get well and this is avoidable. Thanks

HealthRe: Lagos Discharges Four More COVID-19 Patients by Swingate(m): 3:28pm On Apr 03, 2020
This is good news for Nigeria., thank you to the government doing everything to contain this virus and please let us not forget our able health care workers in this very critical time they stepped up even with the condition of our health care system.
May God continue to protect them from any infection and also protect their families.
This is not time for jubilation, we start jubilating when the new cases stops.
