Properties / Re: What Is Happening To My Decking? by Synthase(m): 11:12am On Jun 19, 2020
Mayng01:
What you people call decking is known as a slab in engineering term, during the casting of the concrete work of that slab, a vibrator that consists of a poker was not used on the slab work thereby creating honey comb in the slab; it means there are voids or spaces for air or water to flow through & concrete work are meant to be tightly and closely packed. So each time rain falls or your tank overflows during pumping, there is seepage ( water flowing through the concrete) thereby causing moisture through the walls and slabs internally. Concrete are meant to hold water not to absorb it. Therefore, that fault is referred to as poor workmanship during construction.
I am not an engineer, but I think this may explain the issue the op described. My initial thought was that if your windows are sweating from within, or a certain part of the decking is moist, then those part of the building is becoming colder and this is the reason why the water vapours present in the room are condensing on the window. One of the way forward will be to identify the source of the lowering temperature which could be water seepage through the decking or faulty/leaking plumbing pipes. So, I am in support of the suggestions of those that said you should consider checking the plumbing pipes for leakages or outrightly relocate the tanks and roof the structure if what the engineer described above is what has happened in the case of your building.
Family / Re: My 4-Year-Old Niece Loves To Perceive Horrific Scents. Is This Normal? by Synthase(m): 10:14pm On May 04, 2020
Hahaha, I was told by my mum about the battle she fought with me about stopping the habit of smelling anything handed to me. mhen! I can smell any thing. Give me money, I will smell it, food nko? My nose must censor it first, buy new things for me, I must smell them until the new smell of that thing can't be perceived again grin just about anything. She beats the hell out of me just to stop smelling my food when served. I got over that but my sense of smell is the most sensitive part of me till date. One weird thing about this even at this stage of life is that I never quite outgrow the urge to stay around any diesel engine fume. I don't cover my nose when a diesel powered truck emitting serious smoke is passing by like most people would, I will enjoy the smell like it is oxygen. If you have body odour, social distance measure is too close for comfort for me! This nose is something, I believe if my nose wait patiently, it will perceive lies easily... Now I am beginning to think I need deliverance.

Truth is, your personal details are not hard to get, I could get your details even without going to the bank.

No. True caller doesn't reveal your BVN.
This is my point! The scammer that called me, mentioned my full names, BVN and date of birth correctly, truecaller could not have released such vital personal data. I think it is an insider's job. Then I remember this scenario while opening a new account sometime ago, the banker asked for my BVN and and also if I have my registered phone with me, he was trying to get my full details thru the BVN to open the new account as well as link the new account to the BVN, then , I received a one time code on my phone which I gave to him and he used that to complete the process. So, I think those scammers need such code from you to clear your account, only an insider could get such personal data correctly if it is not a case of data base compromise.

Truecaller reveals ones identity.

You better don't be naive, the one that called me last year mentioned my full names as registered with my bank account where I register my bvn and bvn correctly, can you get that with truecaller too? He said he said he is calling from my bank, I asked which of the banks that I have more than one bank account , he tried to deflect by telling me I need to update some stuff, then I blasted him and he just ended the call.

You can't actually conclude like this, l suggest he posts his gross pay and let the other guy too post his, then, you will see that fingers are not equal in civil service hence, the reason for the variations you are seeing here...

Then to those arguing about whether there is level 11 or not to the point of coded insults, the joke is actually on you because you guys don't know much about the civil service you belong to. That you skip level 11 in your cadre (I don't even know if you know what that means) within your MDA does not mean that is the norm across all federal agency, each professional cadre within any federal government agency or department has its own grade level they follow with specific levels they skip. So, get knowledge and stop forming with the little that you think u know. Indeed, it is a case of a child claiming that his father's farm is the biggest simply because he had not seen other people's farm...

Since Madam Biglittlelois, First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Lord of the Six Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm has commanded it, mere mortals like us become duty-bound to obey. grin

Here goes nothing...I don't know, could be because you are stupid Oh Lord!
There is a 25% chance for an AS couple to birth a sickler. Just 25%. For every birth that is.
In case you've not figured it out yet, it means there is a 75% chance that their children would be normal. Pretty good odds if you ask me. Is your brain poverty-addled or what? Even if it is a matter of "comparing USA to Naija" (which it isn't), why do you think the OP and his would-be spouse will be unable to afford US treatment in the future if not now?? What is the safest thing? You could be shot walking on the road. Does that mean you won't walk on the road? What about flying? You could get involved in a plane crash you know? Life itself is a risk?
How can you guarantee safety in this world
Except the Lord watcheth the city, all that watch watch in vain--- The Good Book
How do you know that his next partner would not have bigger problems?
What is the sense in throwing away real love on 25% odds?

Queen Biglittlelois, I hope you are pleased. If you aren't, I can think of other ways of pleasing you. Pleasurable ways... tongue
You need to update your knowledge about probability. Maybe because you don't know what the sufferers of sickle cell go through, you won't ask couple to be who have the fore knowledge of having 25% risk of birthing a sickle cell patient to take the risk because they have according to you, that big 75% chance of not having it! I understand that people have this erroneous believe that when two AS get married, one out four of their offsprings will definitely be SS whereas, that is just a measure of the chances of occurrence.
Bro! 25% is too much risk to take, for instance, in seminal fluid analysis someone with as low as 1% normal sperm morphology among other parameters is considered able to impregnate.
And for those proposing ivf, surrogacy, you seem not to understand that the issue here is not about infertility or some other conditions, rather, it is about avoiding a possible unpleasant scenario unless I don't know maybe the genotype of the sperms and eggs to be used can be predetermined before ivf, them you are welcomed...

I stopped using earphones while my phone is connected to a working charger when a friend told me a high voltage electric current overcharged his phone, causing an explosion. We take many things for granted, even though we're aware of the consequences.
That dude probably knew that he was taking a risk, but he couldn't resist because his desires got the best of him. What a way to die!

I had this experience recently, one part of my ear piece got removed mistakenly exposing the wire with soldier however, I noticed that I always feel this sensation of mild shock whenever I am using the good part and the exposed wire of the bad part touches my body when the phone is plugged to the charger. I didn't take it serious until the shock I felt was so intense one time, that I brought out my tester to be sure my mind was not playing some tricks on me, lo and behold! It shows significant current was flowing through! This I observe when we have what we call "full current" in this part of the world. So, i think it is quite possible to be electrocuted this way.

Family / Re: How Do You Recover Money From A Dead Relative Bank Account? by Synthase(m): 5:59pm On Jul 03, 2019
nlanded:
First go to a probate registry in any high court, request for a letter of inquiry to mandate the bank to give the deceased account balance. This can be given to one or more family members of the deceased on presentation of relevant documents.

After getting the account balance, the probate registry would issue you a letter of administration.

You bring that letter to the bank and proceed to open an estate account linked to the deceased, you or any other family member would be signatories of the account. All you need to open such an account is 5k for a probate registry search.

The funds from the deceased account would be transferred to the estate account and you/family can do whatever you want with the funds.

The bank where I work you can get all the funds within 2 weeks at most.

PS: Funny how people are talking about next of kin and all, it doesnt matter here when it comes to this, the bank doesnt give a damn who you wrote on your account details as your next of kin, all they respect is the letter of administration brought from a probate registry by any family member. Next of kin on paper is just for formalities.

I want to believe that the letter of administration is only applicable of the person died intestate
Career / Re: Why Do Doctors Start Federal Job On Level 12? by Synthase(m): 7:10am On Jun 21, 2019
I want to know what engineers do in civil service then compare this with what doctors do, then your answer is not far fetched. I don't really know why someone will choose to be redundant in the civil service (because many engineers in the civil service don't get to practice at all there)and still wants to be placed on same level with people that are not even well paid for the kind of services they rendered.

I remember back in the uni days a lecturer whose research interest was in snakes told us one can differentiate venomous snakes from non venomous ones by checking the position of their fangs, he said front fanged snakes (like in the pix someone posted above) are venomous while back fanged snakes (they ave their fangs at the back in the mouth) are not venomous... This prof again We have hear, we will take it up from there...

Come to think of it, I used to think he is one using his profession to fight for the common man because I read his articles during the runoffs to the 2015 elections, but now I realised he sounded more like someone who expected some rewards from Buhari's government for his role in its emergence but didn't get it, he is so vile in his criticism, always using abusive language and then, stylishly pushing and selling Atiku to his followers. He wrote something last night in the heat of social media's my candidate is winning, yours is loosing when INEC has not even started counting titled "I gave up too soon, Atiku is winning!", he gave himself up as a core supporter of Atiku by comparing the statements both parties released same day and concluded that, the APC press release is smelling of potential loss, while PDP's, very good. So now that the results especially the senatorial is trooping in and his projections, clearly rubbished, he has resorted to this. While I am not supporting malpractices, I won't take notes from someone that appeared double faced. Shikenah!
