How many Benenoise, Somalians, Haitians are caught around the world doing such crime?

Our problem is laziness, dishonesty, avarice and lasciviousness.

Laziness is not just about being unable to farm, it is the inability to be creative, to be persistent to bprovide value.

When many of us give example of religion in Nigeria, we are given terrible names. But a society dominated by worship houses rather than industry is sick and quite honestly, deserving of poverty.

A society in which wealth is celebrated, disregarding its source can only succumb to crime and the jackboot of poverty.

Whilst at university, I couldn't bring a new pair of shoes home that my parents didn't buy for me. Yet, I had mates buying state of the art cars, proudly parking them in their family homes. These were not software engineers or anything fancy, they were scammers also known as thieves.

Nigerians refuse to accept the truth and the denial of truth is the beginning of strife.

I couldn’t agree more. We keep blaming the government for our woes whereas there are many countries where their citizens are suffering but they won’t do something that will tarnish the image of their country. Greed and desperation to make in a short time is killing us. We youths of this country are the worst, apart blaming our leaders, just using them as an excuse for our bad atrocities.SMH

South Africa is far developed than Nigeria, only a biased person will dispute that but Nigerians are not helping the situation of our dear country also, first, we re set of people that go online to soil our country’s name, tarnish her image, say a lot of bad things about the country, if the citizens can say this about the country what do you expect from outsiders? To say good about it?. Secondly, Nigerians are known for their doggy ways, fraud, illegal activities all around the world, the desperation to make it in a day, greed which make us to be electing bad leaders. South Africa should be the one respecting us because during their time of apartheid, we re the only African country that stood by her through financial, educational and physical means, her citizens came to Nigeria on scholarship those years but due to irregular activities of our youths there, we have become a laughing stock over there, no respect anymore. Though SA is developed but her citizens are lacking as we re also but most of them just prefer staying back than migrating.I have like 50% of them working in the company I’m working also..

Travel / Re: Nigerian Living In Mexico. Ask Me Any Question About Life Here by Taofeekdboy(m): 6:51am On Sep 09, 2018
benpedro:
This question is a bit personal but I will answer it for the interest of others who need the information. I came here with a tourist visa to visit my girlfriend whom I have known for about 4 years prior. She helped me get a job in a school and they helped me process my work permit and temporal residency, although I had to leave the country to Belize in order to do the process. There are lots of professional jobs here especially when you speak good English. To get the Mexican citizenship you must live legally at least 5 years in Mexico. Or 2 years if you have a Mexican baby or are married to a Mexican. If you fall in love with a Mexican woman, nobody says you can't marry her. Many American friends in my church who lives here fall in love and marry Mexican women and have gotten their citizenship. Mexican women are not the type you'll just use for visas or papers, they're too beautiful, loving, caring and homely for that. You'll get trapped at the end. smiley
Thank you bro, that was a good explanation, all the best in your future endeavors.

OP, I just want to ask some questions and it goes thus;
1. Did you go to Mexico with working visa or working visa?
2. If it was tourist visa, can you tell the prospective Mexico travelers how you changed it to working visa?
3. What’s their basic requirements for citizenship because you said you went there 3 years ago?
Lastly, is there any professional jobs available over there?

Nobody supports illegality. Kidnapper Evans & all the criminals in Nigeria, did govt recruit them to commit crimes? You cannot separate poverty from crime and that applies to virtually all societies. Poverty is no justification, but it is what it is. Many are pushed to travel, out of desperation and or ignorance.

I everybody I knew who travelled before roughly 1988, certainly before 1985 did so legally. Mostly to study. Because prospects back home were better.New immigrant populations also face higher poverty in their host countries.

If you were alive when the Naira was higher than, equal to or close to the dollar in value and unemployment low, you will know crime was much less. That is why Oyenusi and later Anini made headlines. Bank robbers that operated in Offa, Lekki and Festac Town alone have done worse than Oyenusi & Anini put together, yet they are just regular stuff now, be it in Ekiti, Ondo, Ijebu-Ode or across many states.

It is the govt's job to grow the economy, reduce poverty and work towards a better living standard for all. Saying govt providing amenities and reducing joblessness won't help is just justifying incompetence and abdicating responsibility. All societies that did those good things and built strong institutions are now developed countries. With better ways to detect crimes and jail offenders. That is itself a deterrent in those societies. Let the govt fulfil their social contract first, then we can compare later if Nigerians are happier than they are now.

Ok, I won’t argue with you at all but I have questions for you, and I want you to answer it with all honesty. Nigerians committing crimes and fraud in diaspora, are they not in the so developed countries and still committing their crimes and bad atrocities, why is it like that? Or their government over there didn’t provide them with social amenities and basic infrastructures also. Almost all the foreign countries have our name on their bad lists. Greediness, desperation, and oppressing each other is what is killing us, that’s why you will see Nigerians oppressing their fellow country people on social media. The politicians and government are not helping the situation, good but we as the citizens have to make things right for ourselves, make a good image of our country so at least other countries can point fingers to our politicans only.

You certainly do not know how Western countries fight for their citizens accused or jailed abroad. They full consular support. Nothing to do with supporting criminality. It's the rights of citizens to get such help.
Anyway Nigeria has no concept of citizenship beyond international passport (that Chadians and Nigeriens get easily anyway) and NYSC.

Western countries gradually made arriving illegally in a country a crime. It wasn't just 15 years ago in most Western countries. Tagging it a crime just to give them more power to deal with them mercilessly.

Pity the West do not learn from their own past when it suits them. All manners of ugly words were used to describe Germans arriving in USA less 170 years ago. Even after WW2.
It is sad to believe that most of the youths are supporting those that are traveling through illegal routes, we re condemning the government still we re not doing the right thing, with all the warnings and crime committed in Libya, some of our youths still embark on this dangerous route. 2 months ago was about Nigerians being stranded in Russia after World Cup just because they went there to find illegal means of transiting through Russia.we blame government for our woes whereas most of it is our handwork, they know us outside the country for our crook behaviors, fraud, drug peddling, is it the government that advise us to be doing such also? No matter how government try to improve our standard of living /social amenities and infrastructures, Nigerians cannot be contented, our greediness and oppression is killing us.

what right thing? because his kinsmen don't travel out right? you people are really the kind of citizen fela forbid in his track.

who made the country unlivable for those running out? is buhari not part of the problem from the military level to this time? how many people have lost their jobs and unable to get new one since he emerged as Nigeria president

you don't want to support buhari indeed. a leader don't make a silly comment to his citizens not even in the presence of white that see Africa as nothing

I'm not interested in whom party those that will transformed Nigeria is coming from but Nigeria deserve better leaders that won't useless us in the presence of visitors. what happen to we will address Nigeria illegal immigrants diplomatically? must he talk like a fool everytime. from Nigeria youth are Lazy, to Nigerians are corrupt to this, yet you mumu aren't supporting buhari and you're splitting this nonsense. just shut up there
Now I know why Nigeria can’t be anytime better because of people like you that the country is looking up to but your sense of reasoning is too low, even your IQ is not anywhere better, maybe you should check my previous posts and see where I tried to support any of the politican. Nigeria has become a laughing stock outside the country, even among her African allies, they don’t respect us anymore simply because of our behaviors and attitude, nobody is holding you down not to travel, that’s why travel section is here on NL so that whenever you have it in mind to leave the country, plan and leave legally so that you can enjoy the benefits and services of the country you are going. But you are so daft to understand that illegal immigrants tarnish our image outside the country even affecting the innocent ones, now they are denying Nigeria passport visas anyhow even to show it at the airport is like a war. I will say this again; politicians are the problem of this country but the bigger problem is her citizens especially we the youths, that’s why politicians play us like football. Let’s make things right and regain our pride.

I felt a responsible leader should accept fault of why his citizens are littered abroad instead of putting them in a sorry case with his incautious words. they're on their own statement, is a statement buhari ought to caution zahra of saying sef

he's not even hiding his nonchalant attitude towards Nigerians welfare both home and abroad and we are bent on reelecting this dumb skull in 2019? average Nigerians truly need to be place on psychatric mode. how can a thinking being see a man that rubbish them both inside and outside as a Messiah? some foolishness of some Nigerians scare me lately
I’m not trying to support Buhari or any politician but he said the right thing about illegal immigrants, why will you leave your country to another country through shady routes, fraudulent routes? At times I wonder why we youths talk on this forum talk without reasoning, this illegal stuffs have started spoiling our image outside the country, see Spain, Italy, whenever they are reporting about illegal immigrants, their first line will be “majority from Nigeria”, it isn’t making any sense, you don’t have access to their services over there, can’t even enjoy being a second citizen of that country, be running away from police and immigration. Let’s make a good name for our country, people from south west and south east are running overseas to claim asylum, giving them stupid reasons but now they realized they are all lieing, Canada is one example for that, to get asylum as a Nigerian in Canada is very hard now, let’s change our ways to make our country proud.

Yes there are many Nigerians working in Dubai professionally but getting UK(foreign) passport increases your chance exponentially even if they offer little intellectually. Unlike Nigerians that must offer intellectually to get a job. That's my point. And even if Naija get a job, the pay is different with his/her colleague on the same level with different passport
you are right, they pay them differently. BTW are you working in Yas Island because the way you talk seems like that?

You have a point but its cos there is no minimum wage and its pure capitalist society. But UAE is not expensive when compared to other Europian countries. Food is cheap and rent is normal almost same as UK. Plus Tax free salary. School might also be expensive but like i said earlier the salary for professionals is superb. I know of people who are not so intelligent up to average Nigerian graduates getting over 3 million job. Its superb if you get professional job..

Also if you get better passport, Dubai is very good. Like Uk, canada et.c. you can easily get a job above 2million naira per month. I know Nigerians with UK passport coming to Dubai to chop their money. But Naija passport na useless passport. Its a Negative on your CV to be from Nigeria. Na why i no dey put my country of origin in CV be that.
See the way you condemned naija passport. FYI, there are many Nigerians working here as professionals, the issue is if you have something to offer them intellectually, they will hire you but so many Africans here tarnish our image by stealing, robbing and harassing their bosses but that doesn’t affect the fact that some Companies hire candidates indiscriminately so far you are qualified.

Forget anyone telling you to get your pvc for the coming elections, we youths don’t know what we want and we re birds of a feather that flock together. See comments and reactions here cry, who do we offend in this country? We keep praising this politicians and making them feel superior as if they are helping the masses, they oppress us in any way they can, constructing good roads, hospitals and many more for them is like saving us from penury, we don’t even know our rights anymore any little thing from the government, we start hailing, commending them and they feel like our savior. As far I’m concerned, youths can never work together in this country because we re the one that can change this but prefer throwing tribalistic comments on social media, drug peddling, fraud, exploiters, bribery, collecting money from the politicians and laying assaults on their oppositions whereas their kids are studying or staying overseas, the fact that 70 percent of our politicians have dual citizenship make me to smh for this country, they don’t even have hope in the country because they know the upcoming ones are more brutal than them. There was a country in 1960-1984 when everything was going fine and African countries envied HER and regarded her as the giant of Africa, SHE helped a lot of neighboring counties and SA during their apartheid govt when no one was ready to help but see what is happening in SA now, no more regards because of our youths indulgement over there.

The citizens are even the worst set of people tarnishing the image of the country both within the continent and outside the continent, just within two days, news of drug dealing in Thailand and romance scam surfaced everywhere. No dignity, no respect for Nigerians outside the country anymore but always debating on which tribe does the act here everyday instead of accepting the fact that the outside world don’t wanna know about tribes but your nationality. I can’t even vouch for any youth to take the leadership of this nation because most of the comments here shows nothing good can comes out of it.

Saraki decamped from PDP to APC to attained the post of senate president, now he don’t need them anymore or perhaps seeking presidential position...both APC and PDP are the evil parties in this countries, I don’t know why we re deluded to be celebrating this people, they are there for their pockets, no mercy for the masses whatsoever always want to hold on to power and more wealth. we always like to blame the government for everything, nobody is saying anybody should not travel out of the country but be informed and research very well of such a place you are heading to and most importantly travel there legally( through documentations), not only government is warning citizens not to travel to Libya again, the affected people are also giving out warnings every time and the dangerous route of going from there to Europe through the Mediterranean Sea but we won’t listen. Now they defer all advices and warnings and went over, died across the Sea and you expect Nig. Government to evacuate their dead bodies, even the ones suffering over there they don’t have their time yet. Desperation, peer pressure and greed fill our sense of reasoning, hence it happens.

fight tribalism ke, in Nigeria That's future impossible tense bro. Tribalism can never stop in Nigeria and the reason we need restructuring to revive Nigeria.

Why civil war It shouldn't lead to that because it is not disintegration of Nigeria and besides every region will benefit very well in the new structure. Only fools and parasites won't allow honest restructuring of Nigeria
forget restructuring for now bro, it can’t happen in present Nigeria. The only way all of us can agree to restructuring is when they discover oil in all the 36 states then each state won’t be jealous of the others’ developments. For instance North can’t not agree to any restructuring because they knew they won’t be benefittig from the oil anymore and there won’t be any 30% savings to the central government purse because we re the definition of corruption. I can’t just figure it how the restructuring will occur.

this is the only way Nigeria can get revived or better still, use this format below to restructure Nigeria and let Nigeria become United Regions of Africa (URA as the new name for Nigeria) whereby every region will be solely independent on their own and contributing a certain percentage of their resources to the central government to be managed by United Regions of Africa Council of Ministers who would rule for 1 single term of 5 years.

The regions that will form the United Regions of Africa; URA will be:

1. Arewa Region ( to comprise of Northeast and Northwest)

2. Biafra Region (to comprise of Southeastern states)

3. Niger Delta Region (to comprise of Southsouth states)

4. Middlebelt Region (to comprise of north central states)

5. Oduduwa Region (to comprise of southwest states).

Each region shall have their own Prime Minister.

The central government shall be controlled by council of ministers to comprise of the 5 Regional Ministers from the 5 regions that make up URA.

Each Regional Minister from each region will handle the central government of URA for 1 year and act as Nigeria's Prime Minister for that 1 year tenure until it is rotated amongst 5 of the Regional Ministers for 5 years and their tenure expires and they leave both as Regional Minister and Prime Ministers.

Each region will have their own Police, regional laws, bi-laws, etc.

Each region must contribute 30% of the regional resources to the central government. But then, regions with high value mineral resources like crude oil, steel, gold, diamond, natural gas, limestone, etc must remit additional 20% making it 50% from them to central government and then, out of their excess 20% remittance, 10% will be mapped out to assist regions with less valuable or no mineral resources to catch up with their regional developmental projects to ensure equity and mutual development of URA.

The central government will now be in charge of national security; military who will focus on foreign invasion, terrorism counter and foreign affairs to manage and boost URA image in the foreign scene.

Central government must ensure complete border security and control to prevent foreign intruders and illegal arms migration into URA.

Senate and House of Reps will then be restructured too to become one URA house of commons to comprise of URA Council of traditional rulers (to be made up of traditional rulers from each current LGAs), URA senators (same as senators from present senatorial zones) and URA house of reps.

These law makers will not be placed on monthly salary but on sitting allowance based on when they seat and the sitting allowance must not be much to make anybody rich but should be okay to cater for their basic needs.

Each Region must have their own independent electoral body to conduct their elections to produce their regional leaders to serve in the central government.

Only this restructuring can save Nigeria, if not, no hope till eternity no matter who we elect as president
Good points there bro but this can not be achieved in this present Nigeria otherwise the civil war that time will be a rehearsal compared to the one that will occur, the best thing is to fight tribalism and find a leader that will unite us together..

you welcome bro, maybe they don’t know that most African countries wish they have a country like Nigeria because she is blessed with so many things; oil, mineral resources and fertile land for agriculture but they don’t relent in telling time that we re also blessed with bad leaders and hadn’t been we had a good leader, Nigeria would have been one of the best country in the world but I hope we will get there one day just a matter of time. Even the almighty South Africa, during apartheid we re the only African country that helped them physically, verbally and financially...I’m proud to be a Nigerian

CocoaOla:
what are you benefiting as citizens of Nigeria I travel a lot most other African countries said they will rather commit suicide than becoming a citizen of Nigeria Hell hole
brother fear God, maybe you should check yourself because as far I’m concerned they envy Nigerians and most of this African ladies wanna date or marry Nigerians, I met a lot of them in my company and they always tell me how they like to come to Nigeria especially Lagos..Nigeria is not doing fine, we all know but the citizens keep soiling the name everyday even Somalians don’t talk bad of their country as she is one the most deadliest/war torn country in africa. Let’s make our country proud, tarnishing her image won’t have any effect on the government/polithiefians as they all have two to three passports of other countries they can run to if everything go south, it is the citizens that will suffer for it..

I always say this, our problem is not the leaders and politicians alone but everyone of us including you and me, those of us shouting corruption if they say you should come and rule this country for a day, I bet it will be worse than our government regime. The truth of the matter is we re all fantastically corrupt from the top to the lower part, civil servants are the worse because a journey to our ministries and parastatals will make someone to shake his/her for this country, nepotism and favoritism is the order of the day, a case of man know man, our government school teachers are just earning what they don’t deserve; they turn pupils/students to domestic workers in lieu of teaching them, directors and perm sec. are the definition of corruption. If the government can try to work first on ministries and parastatals, maybe reshuffle everything our problem might reduce and we can focus directly with the leaders and polithiefians.

Guy 33 years on earth is not a joke. My 17 years old cousin finish WAEC, the guy hustle for job, today he is working, he will have pocket money b4 he goes to school next year. As a graduate, u bought data by 9:50am in the morn u are complaining, responding to a dude who's workin. Get off ur ass bro, go see how u can make earns meat. If a 17 yrs old nigga can get a job, u can. Leave ya phone, go out there & hustle bro.
leave them, let them be complaining here, average Nigerian is very lazy, always complaining about the government and even if given chance to go outside the country, only drugs and fraud will be their work..there is nepotism and favoritism we all know that but when you keep working hard and pushing it forward, you will get there one day, even most of the Europeans country; some of their citizens are jobless and have nothing to do but they don’t curse or blame their government online.
