Sunnycliff: As far as I have known, there has never been any hay days for our sports men and women in Nigeria. Sports has always been a neglected area and poorly renumerated. I vaguely remember him and its a pity about his situation. That's why many sports men and women relocate or take on other nationalities if given the opportunity. Here in the UK, national sportsmen and women are funded mostly by National Lottery money. Otherwise, many of them will not be able to fund their training or enter into competitions and would need private sponsors. Its mainly sports with seasonal leagues that attract large spectators, make money and pay well. |
Travel / Re: British Airways Stewardess Made Racist Comments About Nigerian Passengers(Video) by Tats(m): 2:03pm On Sep 26, 2017 |
Here is a scenario: On a BA flight in economy, they prepare 50 dishes of Rice & Beef and another 50 of Mashed Potato & Duck. Which of these two do you think Nigerians will go for? The beef dish of course! What happens when beef is finished? Wahala starts! Why on earth can't they try to understand their passengers general meal preference and do a bit more to accommodate it by making more Beef dishes for example. They would likely not serve Beef on a flight to New Delhi or serve Pork sausage on a flight to Doha or even to Abuja. It is likely that their crew do not indicate such meal preferences to their kitchen, hence they don't try to adjust. Or perhaps when the crew report this preference, the kitchen simply ignore them except its religious reasons. 2 Likes |

Travel / Re: Finally, FG To Tax First, Business Class Tickets by Tats(m): 1:30pm On Aug 04, 2017 |
Majority of First and Business tickets are bought by Government officials and wealthy individuals, many of whom get Government contracts or concessions. At the end of the day, its still Government money that will be used to buy these tickets, so the tax will be paid by Government. Its just the same money circulating. Overall, the actual gains will be negligible. |

Congrats to him but the title appears misleading. He seemed to have graduated from Babcock and the write up indicates that he did his second and third year in Poland as an exchange student, while his first and final year were in Babcock. Why was the title embellished? Which certificate was he given? Babcock or the Polish university? |

Travel / Re: FG Bans Helicopter Shuttle From Kaduna To Abuja - PUNCH by Tats(m): 5:48pm On Mar 13, 2017 |
I have read the debates about whether this is a wise or stupid ban. In developed societies, they won't let it get so far as to completely stop flights to an international airport. it is the continued lack of planning and foresight that has plagued us for ages resulting in this situation. Why have they not thought to build a second runway all these years? If the runway was being maintained regularly, it shouldn't take that long to fix it. Other countries resurface runways overnight and if they need to close it completely for a short period, aircrafts use the alternate runways. Why can't helicopters shuttle people from Kaduna and land somewhere near Abuja international airport, which is far away from the city? Afterall, aircrafts fly near sensitive sites in Developed countries. Countless number of planes fly over London to land at Heathrow and London City airport and yet there is Downing Street and Buckingham palace just below the aircrafts. |

Google the word schwerbehindertenausweis and check images. You will see loads of such cards with English. English is included in case their citizens need help in other countries. Germans remove spaces in words joining them to one word but readable by all. |

Congrats to them. Great achievement especially on getting city jobs. Note that in the UK, citizens are entitled to students loan (No interest) for first degree which you pay back when you start working and earning above a certain amount. So there is an alternative in case your parents can't pay your fees. |

Politics / Re: Can This Ever Happen In Nigeria,London-based Nigerian Ask?(photo) by Tats(m): 6:11pm On Apr 03, 2016 |
What actually happens is this. You have an agreement with British Gas to supply gas for heating & cooking and to supply electricity. You would need to set up a direct debit with them so they can take payment from your bank account. At the first instance, based on how many people are in the house, the type residence i.e house or flat (including number of rooms) and other factors, they estimate a certain amount that you will be paying each month. Every 3 months, they ask you to read your meter and send them the reading via a special app or online. They calculate how much you owe them or how much they owe you based on the reading you submit. If they owe you, they will refund, if you owe them, they will increase the monthly amount you pay to recoup their payment. From time to time, say every six months, they come to your house to read the meter. If they determine that you have been honest in sending correct meter reading, they reduce frequency of coming to read it. Mine hasn't been read now for up to 3 years. If the price of wholesale gas in the world goes down, they may reduce the amount you pay for gas. Now for fuel, the fuel price we pay at the pump can go up or down depending on the price of oil in the global market. Here in the Uk, the pump price is made up of over 60% tax hence it is much more expensive than many countries, but at least we know what they use our tax for and they don't corruptly spend it. |
Travel / Re: Nigerians To Be Deported From UK For Earning Less Than £35K by Tats(m): 1:37am On Mar 16, 2016 |
nairaman66: While you may put in some jokes in some posts, it's very clear from your posts that you despise the UK and have little regard for its citizens and even your fellow citizens living here. Imagine your shallow thinking of saying UK citizens go to Dubai to work in this day and age of globalisation. Are US and Canadian citizens not working in the UK? You must have been denied visa at the embassy hence you went to Dubai, saw UK citizens working there and felt consoled that at least UK may not be heaven after all. This is an Internet forum and you also don't know who I am, so it's very stupid saying "for the record....." It's no wonder that there are many twats like you who govern in the country resulting in many citizens facing hard life. I doubt that you can compete in a global world. 1 Like |
