There are many different usage of both words but in simple language for asking questions, Can > Could > Ability to do something. Could is the past or polite form of can - Could you pass me the salt please? Want > Would > Desire, willingness to do something. Would is the condition or polite form of Want - Would you like some biscuits with your tea? |
papi22:By Implication Nigeria is supposed to hear this too as we depend on Oil. Having said that, while there will be a big reduction in demand due to alternative energy sources for powering cars, Oil will still be relevant for some time to come as there are many other uses of products of refining Crude Oil which are not about to be easily replaced. Aviation fuel, Lubricants and fuel for heavy duty vehicles and industrial machinery, Bitumen, Sulphur, petrochemical products that are too numerous to mention, etc. |

This one should never pass MOT. Obstruction is at its highest level here |
Reminds me of someone who recently tried to get an exit seat with more legroom on an aircraft by claiming pains in leg only to be told that since your leg is paining you, then you are not in a position to seat on an exit seat in case of emergency ![]() |
ikevictor:You have a point. However, one issue with many people especially those who haven't been successful in such situations or never travelled before or have a lot to lose if refused is that they get destabilised once they hear the first question and from there it all goes downhill. Before they compose themselves and answer the first question, the interviewer is already on the third question and dictating the pace and flow of the interview. People become confused and can no longer answer any question correctly or intelligently or give mono-syllabic answers and anything rehearsed flies out of the head. The idea is to stay calm, try to control the pace of the interview as much as you can while being polite and answer the first questions as best as you can. It's not as easy as I say it but that would sort of differentiate you and if a prior negative decision had not been already taken, you might just come out successful. |
Care for your teeth. Brush at least twice daily use electric toothbrush if you can afford it. Cleans much better Use a good toothpaste Use interdental toothbrushes floss daily Use mouth wash Visit the hygienist and dentist every 6 months reduce sugary drinks. Do all the above and you will see sensitivity reduce, No tooth ache and a healthy teeth. Did you know that that there seem to be a connection between the health of the teeth and the health of the heart? ![]() |
The onus is on you to prove that you will return to your job/location after your visit as you are considered an immigrant and have to prove otherwise. You have to show a high interest in the event which you are going to attend. You should be able to name the key contenders of the competition and state that you have always followed the past events held in Vegas too and have always wished to go for it. You could indicate how attending the event will help to improve your contacts and network and broaden your horizon as many people in your profession will be there. If there are opportunities for growth in your current gym, you need to indicate that to show that you are aspiring to grow in your current job. |
If one is transiting a country and is not filling a customs declaration form, then they have no right to seize the funds. Why should they even seize a transiting passenger's funds? |
hyperflex:They said she went to Nigeria to live and returned later to the UK, so she definitely had Naija passport at some point but likely expired. Its very unusual that she hasn't travelled in a long time as many people in Britain including young people tend to travel even if just to Spain or France. I would say that she should be eligible for permanent residency even if based on long stay as an illegal (if that is what she is regarded as). Using Windrush is a bit of riding on sentiments. Her case should be on compassionate grounds now. |

Some of her "Black on Black" lyrics sang in 1991 are still very true today. How sad. "How many years that Africa has been free, take a look around you and see, Brothers killing brothers, Children fighting wars, starvation and poverty are still knocking at our doors,........" |
Really liked this woman's songs. So sad that she went too soon |
By nature of his intellectual abilities and his travel history, saying that he made a mistake in seating on that seat due to old age perhaps is what people may find it difficult to believe. However, it is possible that he made a mistake. If it were me and I had no strong reason for sitting by the window, I would have politely pointed it out to him that he sat on my seat, so that he knows and i would have just occupied his aisle seat. Case closed. I have many times and very recently given up my seat for couples and families that want to stay together. |
Yes, you can and only on the condition that you have a valid foreign passport together with the expired Nigerian passport. The airline should know this but its not all their staff that are aware of this rule given by Nigeria. I have done it before and here is what happened to me. I renewed my passport but kept the new one and old ones as a bunch. I was travelling to Nigeria and picked the one on the top of the bunch thinking that it was the latest one only to get to the check in counter at London Heathrow airport and was asked where my latest passport was. I then realised i took the wrong one and wanted to go back home as i calculated i could get back on time but the lady at the check in desk said that I should go and rebook for another day and referred me to another desk. The lady at this desk was surprised that the other lady did not check me in as she saw that I also had a British passport. She called someone else to reconfirm and that one checked something and got back to her saying that he is allowed to travel as per Nigerian law. Anyway, she checked me in. At the boarding gate, they asked me for my recent passport and I told them that I was allowed based on the rule that I had a valid foreign passport so I got to travel. In Abuja, they asked me for my passport and I gave them the expired one and told them what the law says. Well, they said that they couldn't stamp my passport as it was expired and couldn't stamp my foreign passport as I did not have visa in it and very unusual and surprising, they let me go! On my way back, immigration asked me and i told them what happened and they said ok, stamped my British passport as I was departing based on that one and said anything for the boys? ![]() |

Seeing some comments which I believe were not just jokes make me think that we somewhat deserve the politicians that we have. Why did they spend money on these artificial things? Well, they awarded contract to someone! |
khcode:Designs are not exactly made to be trusted. They are to be developed into working models or prototypes and tested to see if they work before they are trusted and rolled out. When people make designs, they base them on some thoughts and concepts. Why does the wingsuit fly? Many people have pointed out that we seem to be different in our part of the world from developed societies. The westerners take so much risk in just about anything. Many times they fail and occasionally they succeed and that is why we have all the modern equipments and gadgets available to us for use. |
PataAlhaja:With respect to this topic, does NNPC hire for NLNG? As some others have mentioned, NAPIMS and NPDC are standout places to work in NNPC. NAPIMS manages NNPC's investments in International Oil companies and supervises various projects, so there is a lot of interaction with Shell, Total, ExxonMobil, etc and opportunities for travelling. NPDC operates NNPCs Exploration and Production assets and so is good place to work especially for Petroleum Engineers, Geologists, etc and there is the possibility to also interact with other IOCs and foreign training, etc. There are other subsidiaries that are good too depending on your job role. |

Mizwisdom:While Canada and the UK may have higher numbers of overstayers, the real indication is the percentage overstayers. Nigeria has an overstay rate of 10.6 % while these countries have rates of less than 1.5%. In summary, 10 out of every 100 Nigerians overstay whereas only about 1 or 2 out of every 100 from these countries overstay. |
The German authorities played a fast one on her by swiftly deporting her, else if her case had become public while she was still there, the story could have been prolonged as the kids are in school and could get some support from the school and human rights organisations against deportation. Others have clearly said it. The kids are very likely not German citizens and it is doubtful if their dad is. They were indeed speaking German. Wir wollen zuruck! |

Elections were postponed. If they had made their plans and the date changed, do you think they would return when they would have already planned to be somewhere else at the time it was rescheduled to? Westerners generally plan everything. Having said that, I would have expected that they have permanent correspondents in Nigeria who would have at least reported something. I watched Aljazeera and didn’t switch to CNN so can’t say what they reported or not. |
