There is a Mobil head office at Victoria Island (don't really know where). Look for the mini mart. They stock Mobil synthetic oil. I strongly suggest you go for the Mobil1 brand since it's engineered for extended interval changes. Cautionm try getting the Mobil1 filter. There is no point fitting your vehicle with such oil and then regular filter. The filter cannot keep up with the extended stay of the oil.
Thats where I used to get mine from. Its just at the begining of the way to Lekki from VI (before the Palms shopping mall).

TravelRe: Safe Hotels Near Lagos Airport? by Tats(m): 6:04pm On Nov 14, 2007
Distance of Eko hotel is a far cry from the airport, since it is in Victoria Island. Sheraton Ikeja is your safest bet if you've got a large budget.

If you are under a smaller budget and looking for a good place, I would suggest you try Westown inn off Toyin street, Ikeja. Its about 6 minutes from the domestic airport and 12 minutes from the international airport (on a good day). http://www.westowninn.com/home.htm

New passports are not currently available in the embassy in London.

If i could find it in Nigeria, i'll buy it. When i was in Nigeria last (Jan 07), never saw it, no one even knew what it was. Please let me know where i can buy it. It will save me alot of money. And also have you seen it in Nigeria and have you personally bought it in nigeria for your vehicles?
I have seen and bought it in Nigeria for my car while living there. Used to buy it in Mobil but it was quite expensive compared to others.
Think I bought it for around N6000 per gallon and its called Mobil 1. Lasts very much longer and its very good for car engines.

Even if you deal in phones, it makes business sense to deal in what you know about.

Anyway, it is Apple brand. http://www.apple.com/iphone/

Yes, infact that's a very good idea. I think we should do just that.

Can you believe this shit huh

Africa

In August 2007, it was announced that Animax would be launching across several countries in Africa, including South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe,

Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique and Lesotho, on the DStv satellite service.[32][33] It began broadcasting in South Africa and other African countries on

November 3, 2007.[34]

From Wikipedia

What do these useless countries have that Nigeria is not 10 times betters of. But they can give them Animax, while we get the non-essentials. I mean

have you seen this months cover of dish magazine tadvertisements on tv. Shits the bomb.
It has been a long time that DSTV has been depriving Nigerians of several channels. For instance, DSTV does not show Travel channel and Bloomberg in Nigeria whereas it does in SA.
Sports20,000 Website Fans Pay £35 Each To Buy A Small Uk Football Club by Tats(op): 8:18pm On Nov 13, 2007
20,000 MyFootballClub.com members have each paid £35 to provide an approximate £700,000 takeover pot of Ebbsfleet United F.C. and they will all own an equal share in the club and will make no profit or receive a dividend.

Members will have a vote on transfers as well as player selection and all major decisions. Despite the nature of myfootballclub it was also announced that manager Liam Daish and his back room staff would remain at the club, albeit in adjusted roles to reflect the democratic nature of the website in matters relating to transfers and team selection.

The regular price is about $7,000. I checked it out on Singapore airline's website.

TravelRe: Travellers Cheques by Tats(m): 11:07pm On Nov 10, 2007
Yes, you can walk into any bank and purchase it but you may need your passport and ticket.

You can purchase in major currencies. If you are coming to the UK, you will be better off buying Pounds sterling to avoid loosing money due to conversion (if it is Dollars you bought for instance).

The rate you buy the travellers cheque from the bank should be official rate. With this, you may get some little savings from that compared to if you bought cash from the open forex market.

On arrival in the UK, you can immediately exchange the travellers cheque for cash at the airport.

If he knew so much to the extent of offering to assist the guy, he should have known that Canadian students visa can be obtained in the Embassy in Lagos

TravelRe: Travellers Cheques by Tats(m): 7:01pm On Nov 09, 2007
in addition to the earlier response, it is somewhat like paper money and shows the value on it. I think there is a limit to the amount of Travellers cheque that you can buy in Nigeria. You will need your passport and ticket to show at the Bank when you want to buy it. You will be made to sign once on each note of the travellers cheque right in front of the person selling the cheque to you. Therafter, when you want to cash it overseas, you will also be made to sign each note in front of the person giving you cash. That is supposed to protect you in case you loose the cheques.

What is your business posting on this thread then?

It is your business as a patriotic Nigerian Citizen to tell us the truth if you know it and it is in your overall interest too.

If the allegations are false, show us your NYSC certificate, Mr speaker. That should be simple enough.

If the allegations are the true, the speaker should be thrown out so that the nation can move on. In the interests of the nation, a person who is compromised and blackmailable should not occupy such a high post.
I have told you what I know. I have said it is none of my business, because the next thing I will be reading on this thread is that Dimeji is my brother just like the one that says the picture looks like a superimposed one grin

It is clear that the guy will produce his certificate and another issue will start!

I saw the same pix in one of the dailies today. It looks like that face was superimposed onto that picture. The power of photoshop. If he knows he partook in the NYSC, why doesn't he simply present his certificate? It will save him all this stress.
You are not correct on this one! The picture is REAL and my brother is in that picture.

I have no business with whether he completed his NYSC or not or served inside his father's house.

Read my post yesterday https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-91683.0.html#msg1659219 and it should confirm what I have just said.
PoliticsRe: New Speaker Dogded Nysc? by Tats(m): 6:33pm On Nov 07, 2007
I am more certain than not that the guy did NYSC. I can confirm that he participated in the NYSC orientation camp with my brother in Abuja in Feb 1998, but not sure which institution/company he served in afterwards or whether he transfered to another state to complete his NYSC. My brother had mentioned him to me before and after he became a member of the House of Representatives. I think he may even have camp pictures that Dimeji featured in.
TravelRe: Any Problem With My International Passport ? by Tats(m): 11:48pm On Nov 03, 2007
My take on this is always ensure your names match on all your documents especially if you are going international (No shortforms). People have been refused visas for names not correctly matching even when they are genuine.
TravelRe: Starting Life In London, Tips And Stories: by Tats(m): 11:31pm On Nov 03, 2007
www.direct.gov.uk will tell you a lot about public services and things in the UK.

Couple of things to note:

Register with the National health Service. It is free and you only need your passport showing your residence permit or your british passport if you've got one.

Register immediately with the local electoral registration office in your local council (where you reside), so that your name can be in the electoral roll/register. This is very important. Details are in the website above.

Refrain from applying for some things considered credit, such as store credit cards, bank credit cards, contract phone line, e.t.c. immediately you arrive (even if they offer the forms to you to fill). You are likely to be refused such if they do a credit check on you with the credit agencies and this would bring your rating down. Every search that results in decline brings down your credit rating. Until after you are registered in the electoral register, then the credit rating agencies can have a proper record of your address.

Do not be in a hurry to send your CV out to companies or recruitment agencies if you are looking for a job. Do it with careful thought. Any phone call you receive after you send out your CV is nearly always an informal interview and seems like a chat.

Some banks offer international accounts to new arrivals but you may need your bank statement from Nigeria to show your previous home address. (these accounts are not usually proper UK accounts, but will get you by for a while until you get a proper account)

You can apply for your National Insurance number if you have proof of evidence of looking for a job or if you have an employment letter. You will go for an interview to get this after scheduling an appointment and you will need some documents to carry along. They will tell you what to bring along when you book for the interview.

My working hours is 37 per week (I resume at 9am and close at 5pm with a lunch break)

Mortgage? Forget that side for now  grin. Come in, settle down, get a history in the country and mortgage will come later!

Tax and so on? Different bands of tax depending on how much you earn. Details are in the website above.

You can drive with your Nigerian drivers licence for only one year. You must stop driving immediately after the first year you arrived in the UK and have to get a Full UK driving licence to continue driving. The process and stress to get that one is another book chapter! Details are also in the website in motoring section.

BusinessRe: Credit Card In Nigeria: Advantages And Disadvantages by Tats(m): 11:06pm On Oct 29, 2007
cool4ny:
i believe what they have in Nigeria is a debit card, there is nothing big about credit card but i think Nigeria does not have the facilities yet to have a secured credit card for her citizen.
1. there is no way to verify your identity( i mean to know who you really are)
2. No facility yet for credit scoring or credit search. ( i mean your suitability for credit)
3. No way to verify your location ( are you really living where you say you live)
4. What if you refuse to pay? how would they get hold of you. You can easily get another pasport and another name and go to another Bank for another credit.
5. People can easily use someone name for credit.

Some of these stuffs happen in developed society as well but the system makes it more difficult. I believe Nigeria will get there but not yet.
Some of the credit cards are given to people who work in recognised corporate organisations and the usage is monitored in conjuction with the company. Sort of like your company guarantees the card for you. Somewhat akin to the AMEX corporate credit cards in use around here.
BusinessRe: Credit Card In Nigeria: Advantages And Disadvantages by Tats(m): 8:45pm On Oct 29, 2007
Ladies and gentlemen especially those of us abroad, lets take the time to get correct facts about what is happening in Nigeria before we start making assumptions on availability of credit cards or credit reference agency in Nigeria.

Firstly, I believe that banks like Zenith and Ecobank have REAL credit cards but I can't confirm it immediately. Will do later and post report.

Secondly, there is a new credit reference agency in Nigeria and I pray that it will develop to be a good one for effective credit management in Nigeria. See links
