If your account of events is confirmed, the underpinning forces to these.events keep unfolding..

I mean what audacity have the boys to steal from the military if there isn't a prevailing mindset of being above the law: the very theme, the passive unresponsive attitude of the central figures in power foster...

Secondly, as you rightly mentioned, the reprisals won't be at the Barracks but on the bystanders / community that had no part to play.in the saga initially..

What a sorry state of affairs!!!!

AZeD1:
What's your definition of a dysfunctional family.

Let start from there.
Totally agree....

At op.....alignacademy

From your ruminations above, several aberrations have been identified- not necessarily dysfunctional..depending on the context of the narrative.

Taking 1/2 of your descriptions, factors affecting its incidence/ prevalence and possible cure or limitation of the disastrous symptoms or consequences can.be identified give the different socio-economic indices.

Then progress can be made and sustained.

The degree of insensitivity displayed is simply appalling.

None of these critics who are parents can lay claim to a blameless and accident-free parental experience...

Hypocritically, under the cloak of anonymity, they become judge, jury and jailer: in the absence of facts but fragrant hearsay!!

Get a life, stop hating!!

Let your milk of human kindness flow and support this family in their darkest hour yet.

The police will do the needful at the right time.

Too little too late. Whatever happened to pre-emptive thinking and action?
Exactemente!!!

These ?sporadic killings have gone on for too long...
As a layman, a certain MO is in use.

That should be thoroughly investigated,
A wider-range cover should be designed with other agencies if manpower is a problem.

There should be a centralised point of intelligence analysis and strategy formulation with discrete secret attacks on the marauders..

Then and only then, will these miscreants realise they have a formidable opposition..
Otherwise it remains an open field for them.to target at will!!

In todays 21st century, Tech gadgets are available to counter this insurgence effectively and decisively!!!

Mercy should be shown to the men who killed the herdsmen as we can see the exacting circumstances... a presidential pardon will be welcome and change the on-going negative narrative!!

This official statement reeks of propaganda...

Where are the pictures to support the claims of roadside ambushes??

The people burnt to smithereens. People in different postures that depict being in a state of sleep or restfulness, wearing garments that support the original premise and raises the question.of use of bio-weaponry??..

Where are the cars, the witnesses who saw these hoodlums in.operation??

There has to be an awakening in the land: a cry must be raised for all these victims and potential ones on the international platform.

Where is the rule of law here?? With a government that keeps confabulating incessantly!!

A Soul is a soul, whether moslem, christian, trado practitioner, SE,SW, middle belt or northern..
A stop should be put to this now!!!!

Regarding citizenship--
I write specifically for the UK as the said husband is british.

There is the recourse by authorities to revoke or annul as demonstrated in her case where there is evidence pointing to false information +/- criminality at the time of application...

She admitted in her piece that the husband got her deported. This admission supports the above...

So it is possible for a spouse to instigate the process of deportation in the UK if evidence of falsehood at time of application is provided.

For those thinking she can access his fortune upon his demise

You are all so wrong

She's been deported and certainly her citizenship revoked..

There's evidence that this was a sham marriage.

Several counts of adultery on her part

Baba would have changed the terms of his will to disfavour her if he could have her deported.

Lastly Baba's relatives will not stand by doing nothing if the above does not deter her from attempting to get access to his estate.

Business › Re: Foreign Direct Investment To Nigeria Fell By 21% To $3.5 Billion In 2017 by Tedpgrass: 12:54pm On Jun 10, 2018
postbox:
Foreign direct investment (FDI) flows to Africa slumped to $42 billion in 2017, a 21% decline from 2016, according to UNCTAD’s World Investment Report 2018.

Weak oil prices and harmful ongoing macroeconomic effects from the commodity bust saw flows contract in major host African economies.

“The beginnings of a commodity price recovery, as well as advances in interregional cooperation through the signing of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, could encourage stronger FDI flows to Africa in 2018, provided the global policy environment remains supportive,” UNCTAD Director, Division on Investment and Enterprise, James Zhan said.

FDI flows to North Africa were down 4% to $13 billion. Investment in Egypt was down, but the country continued to be the largest recipient in Africa. FDI in Morocco was up 23% to $2.7 billion, including as a result of sizeable investments in the automotive sector.

Lingering effects from the commodity bust weighed on FDI to sub-Saharan Africa, with inflows declining by 28%, to $28.5 billion. FDI flows to Central Africa decreased by 22% to $5.7 billion. FDI to West Africa fell by 11% to $11.3 billion, due to Nigeria’s economy remaining depressed. FDI to Nigeria fell 21% to $3.5 billion.

East Africa, the fastest-growing region in Africa, received $7.6 billion in FDI in 2017, a 3% decline on 2016. Ethiopia absorbed nearly half of this amount, with $3.6 billion (down 10%) and is now the second largest recipient of FDI in Africa. Kenya saw FDI increase to $672 million, up 71%, due to strong domestic demand and inflows in information and communication technology sectors.

In Southern Africa, FDI declined by 66% to $3.8 billion. FDI to South Africa fell 41% to $1.3 billion, due to an underperforming commodity sector and political uncertainty. FDI into Angola turned negative once again (down to -$2.3 billion from $4.1 billion in 2016) as foreign affiliates in the country transferred funds abroad through intra-company loans. In contrast, FDI into Zambia increased, supported by more investment in copper.

Multinational enterprises (MNEs) from developed economies (such as the United States, United Kingdom, and France) still hold the largest FDI stock in Africa. At the same time, developing-economy investors from China and South Africa, followed by Singapore, India and Hong Kong (China), are among the top 10 investors in Africa.

FDI outflows from Africa increased by 8% to $12.1 billion, reflecting a significant increase in outward FDI by South African firms (up 64% to $7.4 billion) and Moroccan firms (up 66% to $960 million). Outward FDI by Nigerian firms, in contrast, remained flat at $1.3 billion, focused almost exclusively on Africa.

FDI inflows to Africa are forecast to increase by about 20% in 2018 to $50 billion. The projection is underpinned by the expectations of a continued modest recovery in commodity prices and strengthened interregional economic cooperation. Yet Africa’s commodity dependence will cause FDI to remain cyclical.

Career › Re: The Doctor And Other Doctors...a Battle To Fight Later by Tedpgrass: 12:19am On May 28, 2018
Thanks op for bringing this up..

With regards the titular appelation--- anybody with a PhD is a doctor.... clarity is sought regarding what type of doctor..

As a significant fraction.of the population may not understand the difference, I agree that assumed identities and competences. by people of questionable.characters, will.be prevalent until the authorities look into sorting things out by ensuring clarity in use of appelation and more regulation vis a vis transparency.

With regards opening hospitals, its clear that the medical practitioner(s) have to.be MDCN registered and licensed to limit quacks practising!! That should be sorted under the regulatory board or through the national health insurance registration arm.., access to check hospital and doctor details.should be available online.,

Truth be told, Naija needs more properly educated medical personnel, medics and allied staff to.meet its ailing but ever-increasing health.burdens!! So pharmacists, med lab scientists are welcome..

The problem.arises when pple try to perform roles they are least equipped/ trained for..

So Its a no no for a medlab scientist to be performing surgeries because youtube and previous observations gives you.an.idea what to dohuh That's frankly illegal!!!--- a criminal offence.

Lastly, leadership tussle is best left to.the most qualified..

The Naija terrain has the medical doctor leading the team.on almost all levels, by default,,they are leaders of the different healthcare teams

In.some other remits, this may not be the case.,. But it remains the status quo largely.
So in the case of CMDs-- who often function as medical directors, its not debatable--- a medic is needed..

In American-styled hospitals which have a board and administrator/ CEO combo, someone with the relevant business acumen.is needed-- this leaves the floor.open.to suitably.qualified personnel!!

Re: political appts such as in the MoH, Commissioner jobs appointments, that has been so politicized, its hardly a discussion for this forum.

Business › Re: Bank Fraud!!! What I Did And How I Got My Money Back by Tedpgrass: 10:12pm On Apr 01, 2018
jeron1:
Dec 16th, 2017. A day I can NEVER forget hurriedly in my life. Got to shoprite Surulere, bought something's and made payment via POS. I didn't get SMS transaction Alert as my phone was stolen two days before.

Drove down to Lawanson (same place my phone was stolen) to make some transaction and found out that some money was missing from my account, . I immediately went beside my car, told my coworkers with me about the info, asked d amount and I calculated and gave them d figure, Three Hundred and Ninety Nine thousand, Four hundred and sixty Naira was missing (399,460).

I called my bank through the Number written on the back of the ATM card and they verified the transaction, I was a Victim of Sim card BVN fraud, first ever of Its kind in Nigeria .

Then I told them to Freeze the account with immediate effect.

I realise many people had also one time or the other gone through this kind of experience but they never got their money back as they didn't know the process to take on how to get their money back from Fraud that occurred on their account either via ATM, Online or any other platform

Here is what I did to get my money back as I it was a transaction I didn't authorised

1. I didn't keep quiet, I told a lot of people about the update. I wasn't ashame, I even posted on my timeline on Facebook. I wasn't looking for pity but to notify people about the new fraud in town and also seek for advice. I knew 90% of people won't even care as they will even laugh but that 10% of people that cared will give me solution and truly it worked.
One of the guys I told gave me the option that started the solution and that option was to write a letter to Central Bank of Nigeria, Lagos office

2. I immediately sent a mail to my bank, telling them about the debit that occurred on my account and it wasn't from me. The bank replied telling me they will investigate, I had to put a lot of pressure on them because these bank people can be very funny, they will tell you they are working on it but that's a lie

3. I wrote a petition/Complain to the "Banking Supervision Department" and "Customer Protection Department" of Central bank of Nigeria, Lagos Branch. The office is at the 11th floor of the building. Most of the workers don't know, some told me 8th floor, some said 5th floor. I had to walk that building up and down more than 6times that day before I could get the right office cos the access cards for the floors are different and I have to come down to take new access card for the different floor

Ps- make sure a copy with you is acknowledged, also provide your Email address and Phone number on the letter as they will reach you through the platform provided and tell you to negotiate with your bank and if no progress after 30 working days then write them again via the e-mail they used in communicating with you. I will provide screen shot of the mail they sent but I am trying as much as possible not to mention the bank. I never knew many Organisation in Nigeria work if I had not gone through it.

I was actually told at CBN that it will take time but I will surely get my money back that the CBN mandated banks to known your Customer (KYC) so since the money was transferred to Access bank then Access bank need to produce their customer

4. I wrote an official letter also to my branch bank Manager, informing him about the fraud on the account and telling him how it has really affected me. I Also made sure that a copy of the letter was acknowledged.

I knew it wasn't going to be an easy fight as the bank would want to put the blame on me but I was ready for them.

I was always sending them mail, calls via the telephones at any bank branch. I gave them heat and after 30 working days I sent a mail back to CBN telling them the bank is frustrating me and they are yet to refund my money and I didn't want to go to court because the matter was before the APEX bank. I didn't receive any reply from them

I went to a branch and also shouted and told them I want to see the branch manager which I saw her and also made my complain and she decided to also send a mail to the fraud unit.

Sorry to say, I received a call from the fraud unit after I wrote a petition to CBN and CBN queried them telling me how my money was transferred and giving me the account number and bank the money was transferred to, they also gave me the address of the person that owns the account but I refused to follow up as I told them that wasn't my work that they should do it.

Lastly, I called them from the bank and told. Them that was the last time I was going to talk to them in the issue that I will get a lawyer, told the Lady that picked the call to tell the management about my development, I actually got a lawyer but before the lawyer could write, I received my money back on Thursday hot afternoon via an alert...
Useful tips

Thanks op!!

I go through this route daily and any sane person will tell you that this is a disaster awaiting to happen, last year was hell for those living around this area as the flood were everywhere. In as much as I commend Ambode but I won't support the degrading of the Lagoon, its too dangerous

Come back around June/July when we will be in the rainy season, I will remind you then

Cheers
with every land reclamation project on the Lagod lagoon, several sites are undergoing severe flooding due to displacement, affecting lives and property...

Lagos state should get huge drains and other flood defences / storm walls in place before starting these huge projects..

Akoka Shomolu LGA is a perfect example..
the street from.St Finbarrs Pako bus stop to Ilaje waterside is regularly submerged ...to the point that. one needs a canoe not a car to move around even.during the dry season!!!!

This road was hundreds of feet away from.the mangrove swamp many years ago. Currently it sits adjacent or under the Lagoon particularly at high tide !!!

kudos to the young guns attempting great heights

my question is. where are their fruits:-- evidence of good governance; corporate and political .....Looking at Macron, Obama: these chaps have been in the game for a little while in established and largely well-run political structures.

In addition, the perculiarities of our Naija structure is such that without a huge buy-in from the Kingmakers: many of whom are too selfcentred, steeped in tribal politics with religious intolerance for personal gain; any outsider is condemned to failure.

This with an about-to-blossom democracy is a rather potent mix!!

I feel these young men would do better waking up the social consciousness regardless ethinicity/ religion demanding equitable justice and governance...
....a proportionate demand for excellent governance

anyways... where is my zobo..

Politics › Unexplained Wealth Orders : Impact On National Treasury/ Coffer-emptying by Tedpgrass(op): 2:27am On Feb 04, 2018
The UK government has put in place effective from 31st January 2018, a civil tool and investigation tool called UWO:- Unexplained wealth order.
This was only published as Circ 003/2018 a day after initiation

application will be largely to
1) politically exposed people (PEP) particularly from non-EEA countries;
2) politicians or officials from outside the EEA and
3) people suspected to have made some gain from criminality ( organised) or
4) has insufficient income to be in a position to obtain a specific property (>£50000)

A conviction based on false statements regarding lawful ownership and the means by which it was obtained) in response to the UWO can fetch prison sentences of 12-24 months and/ or a fine.., in addition.to seizure of the properties in question!!

When there is a failure to provide no response, the property is recoverable under a civil recovery action!!

Interesting times ahead!!!

my thoughts loom largely over the following:

An anonymous phonecall from a discontented individual(s) is all that is needed to raise suspicion. This can do immeasurable damage to reputation and finances!!!

There is no clear indication that the monies retrieved from the individuals or from sale of the items will be repatriated to the home country or victims of the crime. huh

Another fund-raising avenue on the back of Brexit, moreso with a significant percentage of choice apartments in Central London owned by foreigners, some with questionable income source huh

This will, on the long term, have a major impact on foreign investment in London and the South East regardless of type of Brexit deal obtained at the end of the day!!!

A possible Ikoyi whistleblower saga in the making??

what do y'all think...
