However, it is also clear that through the redemption we have in Christ, we can rejoice in the blessings God has made available to us through faith - and that is inspite of the effects of the Fall. There are a lot of intelligent black people in every field you can find on the face of the earth. What we should try and do is contextualize what is behind us, and then look at what is before us, so we can properly handle what has been thought of as being beyond us. @dakmanzero, If that is how you read issues, you missed it by a million miles. The direct accusation that informs my question has to be examined; and the Muslim either proffers a direct answer as well, or continue to bask in the misreadings that are epitomized in your post. The question has a basis. When an honest answer comes, you will see it. Certainly, people who professed to have been Christians deconvert to Islam; yet the questions being asked by many have led them out of Islam and to the redemption found in Jesus Christ. Some of those questions are being discussed here, and people who can read issues well can see what they are all about. |

If surely Muhammad believed in ALL the revelations of the Biblical prophets, surely mention would have been made of the stone. But the utter silence of this is testimony that neither Adam nor Abraham heard any such thing. It is scandalous to try to castigate the Jewish Scriptures simply because Muhammad's reconstructed (and often inconsistent) utterances denounced them. No one commanded Muhammad to kiss the black stone. The confession of one of Muhammad's companions on this is quite revealing in Sahih Bukhari, Bk. 26, # 675: Narrated Zaid bin Aslam from his father who said: "Umar bin Al-Khattab addressed the Corner (Black Stone) saying, 'By Allah! I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet touching (and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you.' Then he kissed it and said, 'There is no reason for us to do Ramal (in Tawaf) except that we wanted to show off before the pagans, and now Allah has destroyed them.' 'Umar added, '(Nevertheless), the Prophet did that and we do not want to leave it (i.e. Ramal)' ------------------------------------------ **Definitions: Ramal - Hastening, walking briskly and moving the shoulders briskly; usually done by men (only) in the first three circuits of the Tawaf, but not in the remaining four. Tawaf - The circling of the Holy Kabah. Tawaf is done in sets of seven circuits. So, where was the divine commandment to kiss the black stone? Muhammad's action in kissing the stone was not a commandment from 'Allah', and you cannot find it in the Qur'an. Umar bin Al-Khattab's statement in that hadith shows clearly that at the earliest stage of the black stone issue, it was all a show off before the pagans - there was just no reason to do Ramal (in Tawaf). This is hardly the kind of bland statement any Muslim would have had to utter if he knew that there was a divine commandment to rever, kiss and touch the stone! |

Just because the word "Islam" was mentioned in the Qur'an, it does not automatically serve as the monumental "evidence" for its being chosen by God as the religion for mankind. To be sure, the elements of the Christian faith are recorded in the Bible; and no one is arguing that the Bible cannot be translated, as has been claimed by Pickthall in his preface to his translation of the Qur'an as a book that cannot be translated! |

Lol @ Doris B, I don't know how many Muslims claim that. Yes, the Kaa'ba is commonly referred to as the Holy House (or among some other users, it is simply known as 'Allah's House'). But then, Muslims do not claim that Allah lives there. |

In the growing disaffection towards the political ideology behind Islam, let us remember to keep our heads. There are a lot of other religions that have ideologies far more sinister than what have come to light about Islam; and we should not condemn ALL Muslims simply because of the irrationality of the Jihadists! There are Muslims who choose life and hate death; whose outlook on life is far more intelligent than most of us know about; whose honesty humbles most of us and leave us wondering if they are Muslims! This is not to sound "politically correct"! But two wrongs do not make any right! That a Muslim slew a friend of mine in the north should not make me lose my reason and massacre another Muslim neighbour in the south who has done me no wrong! It is the ideology itself we should challenge; and not condemn people for their religion! |

@topic, Let's try and be balanced, abeg. The Bible no where mentions the case of a woman who wears trousers as being under condemnation. The Scripture is clear on what it says: Deut. 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God. Remember: "that which pertaineth unto a man" should not all at once be translated as trousers! Even the man sef is in the same cubicle as not to weat "a woman's garment" - and what should that be translated as?? A skirt?? Or spaghetti sleeves, G-string, tights?? For those who still have 'skirts' on their minds as meaning a "woman's gament", let me remind you that men also wore skirts in the Bible!! From Ruth's answer in Ruth 3:9, it is obvious Boaz was wearing a skirty attire! Ruth 3:9 - And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman. 1 Sam 24:5 - 'And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt Psa. 133:2 - 'It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments' Ezekiel was instructed: Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts. (Ezek 5:3). And all these men were not condemned, right??, Right. So, was the Scripture speaking of trousers and skirts in Deut. 22:5?? I don't think so. The context is simply pointing to that which makes a male appear feminine and a female appear masculine in their dress codes! It is a simple straightforward message: don't confuse your gender role!! |
