RIP to Yaradua and the rest of the Yaradua family. When a family loses a loved one it is always a sad situation no matter who the person was. His time on earth has come to and end, and we bid him adieu and good luck facing God. I hope he died repenting and asking for God's forgiveness. Just shows that we are only here for a season, and only God knows when we shall depart to account for all of our deeds. So to all those people consumed with wasting their lives on irrelevant things (tribalism and ethnic sentiments), i hope your life and health is worth wasting. Nigeria has woken up, and as a country we shall move on together, from what Yaradua has left behind. God bless Nigeria.

This thread is one of the funniest threads on Nairaland. ROTFLMAO! Seems people have been watching Mekusxxx for a while and have decided to show him fire for fire. Also seems Mekus is an Igbo man living in Yorubaland cause he knows how to curse in Yoruba:

mekusxxx:
Sefago (omo ijogbon) stop twisting the facts. All false claims are usually from Yoruba. Why do you not find such in Sun and Champion or other non-Yoruba newspapers? + why must it be an Igbo who lives in Yorubaland that will make false claims such as Yoruba are known for? You check am now.

BTW, genetics can never outweigh the environment. Gene expression is clearly driven by the environment. Otherwise they remain unexpressed. Make I teach you small genetics, olodo
So i guess this also applies to Mekusxxx:

mekusxxx:
Punch is a Yoruba newspaper. The editors  are most likely Yoruba. This reporter is only a small fry who in any case lives in Lagos and has imbibed Yoruba ways of life (lying and deceit). The editors (and of course, the publisher) decide what gets published. So the news remains an Yoruba news cheesy cheesy

Don't know if she is possessed by demonic spirit leading her to have multiple sexual partners cos I know i'v got the strength to ride for 3 hours. Is there any sickness that can make someone Hot 247. If she is not possessed, then she must be spiritually sick. If i can't think of any reasonable solution i may just resort to Magun!.

NOW OBJ's Legacy grin

1976-1979
General Muhammed was assassinated on February 13, 1976, in an abortive coup. His chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, became head of state. Obasanjo adhered meticulously to the schedule for return to civilian rule, moving to modernize and streamline the armed forces and seeking to use oil revenues to diversify and develop the country's economy. Seven new states were created in 1976, bringing the total to 19. The process of creating additional states continued until, in 1996, there were 36.

The Second Republic
A constituent assembly was elected in 1977 to draft a new constitution, which was published September 21, 1978, when the ban on political activity, in effect since the advent of military rule, was lifted. Political parties were formed, and candidates were nominated for president and vice president, the two houses of the National Assembly, governorships, and state houses of assembly. In 1979, five political parties competed in a series of elections in which a northerner, Alhaji Shehu Shagari of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN), was elected president. All five parties won representation in the National Assembly.

2) In 1977, the federal government abolished the payment of tuition fees for all undergraduate programs in its universities and set the hostel accommodation fee
3) 1977,Lagos Stock Exchange became, Nigerian Stock exchange ( Being inclusive so that the rest of Nigeria can benefit grin)
4)Nigerian Reinsurance Corporation (http://www.nigeriareinsurance.com/about-history.html)
5) Federal Mortgage Bank-The FMBN was established by a military decree No 7 of 20th January 1977 when it was capitalized with the sum of N20 million as the apex mortgage institution in the country. (http://allafrica.com/stories/200911301291.html)

I will list a few:

Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA)- What has this institution done in preventing oil spills that destroy the Nigerian Environment?

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) - To conceal and put a legal name on drug trafficking

State Security Services (SSS)-  Babangida in June 1986 issued Decree Number 19, dissolving the NSO and restructuring Nigeria's security services into three separate organizations under the Office of the Co-ordinator of National Security. The new State Security Service (SSS) was responsible for intelligence within Nigeria. Babangida scrapped Decree Number 4 and reduced the punishment for drug traffickers from public execution to jail terms and he annulled the proscription of "radical" groups such as the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
http://www.fas.org/irp/world/nigeria/sss.htm
National Directorate of Employment (NDE)- How many Nigerians have Jobs?
National War College (Currently going by a different name I can't remember).- yea sure
I believe the Nigerian Civil Defense Corp was also formed during his era.
He also moved the capital to Abuja ( you may not agree but it needed huge expenditures)- LOL!!!
National Elections Commission -NEC which metamorphosed into INEC (which replaced FEDECO).

There are many many others.

The third mainland bridge is there and solving major transportation problems in Lagos. It used to be hell going into Lagos Island and Ikoyi before that bridge.- It only says it was OPENED by IBB. Not initiated. LOL!!!

How much did Obasanjo steal? In one department alone (electricity) we lost $16 billion to Obasanjo and his gang of thieves. In road construction, we lost N300 billion. No one knows how much OBJ stole, which is part of why he is desperate to pick a president who will help cover his tracks.

Ol boy, the day alarm go blow for OBJ, all you his supporters will faint.  cool
Compare both their regimes please. With facts and figures or else you will have to change your NL name to something more fitting. Lets stick to the arguments. thanks.

Even if I compare the two military regimes, Obasanjo still enjoyed a better oil boom in the 70s than IBB did in the 80s and early 90s. What did Obasanjo do with the money, he organized FESTAC and ITT where Fela said he (OBJ) and Abiola stole our money. So what are we talking about?
grin grin grin
you vehemently refuse to accept the truth and try to explain it away. Whatever benefits IBB got as president was passed down from OBJ's regime was it not? And he even managed to Bleep that up as well. How many billions of $$$ did IBB steal as a result? So because Fela was accusing his own brother's as a way to wake up their conscience you conclude they were the only ones that stole? Since you brought up comparing the both of them, please do so objectively. Every leader in Nigeria has stolen, but IBB's theft is in a different league. He crippled Nigeria, and continued through Abacha. His theft was astronomical.
PoliticsRe: Ojukwu Backs Babangida For 2011 Polls by TewMuch: 8:59pm On May 03, 2010

I just want you to understand one more point. IBB was the president of Nigeria at a time one barrel of oil was selling for between $10 and $15 per barrel. In the gulf war "oil boom" which lasted only a few months, oil sold for about $40 per barrel.
Now compare that to an Obasanjo era (8 whole years!) when oil averaged about $80 per barrel.  Pray, how do you even begin to compare the two?
IBB was even able to keep the Naira at about N12 -N20 (If I'm not mistaken) in those horrible income scenario. Compare that to Obasanjo era which saw our money plummet to N180 and then settled at N150 per $1.

How did IBB build the third mainland bridge (the IBB bridge)? What did Obasanjo build in 8 years of oil boom?

IBB did his best. He was unlucky. Let's keep things in proper perspective.
You are being thoroughly subjective in your argument. If you are gonna compare regime's, compare the both of thems military regime. IBB started the downward spiral that OBJ had to deal with in the democratic regime. Before OBJ came back into power, Abacha ruled. I hope you remember this? So until you can compare the both of thems military regime's then you have an argument. Also, compare all those regime's after IBB to OBJ's 8 years with respect to their accomplishments.

MKO was just a benign thief (if you know what that means). Most people voted for him mostly likely out of some exuberance. Now his matter should rest in peace, the Yoruba having been compensated for June 12 with Obj. I do not care about IBB really, but MKO should be remembered for what he was: a benign thief and one who would have mortgaged Nigeria were he not stopped on his tracks
Compensated by who? June 12 can never be compensated. Whatever you will love to say about MKO is your business. But the proof is in the pudding and is very unchangeable. You cannot even explain why your Igbo brother's voted for him. I doubt if you were even alive in 1993, because you dont seem to know what you are talking about. MKO is a legend and will forever be. Am sorry, but there is nothing you can do about it. His wife Kudirat was a true Yoruba woman, who fought bravely so that even you could have rights. No matter what you say the Abiola family are  highly respected for their sacrifice. If you call MKO a thief, i wonder what Ojukwu ishuh

The main question is why didn't OBJ do those things himself when he was in office? Why does he need a puppet from the East to do what he failed to do in office?

I'm happy that Jonathan is doing his best (I get his reviews from home), but I also fear for him, especially since the north still want power back next year.

OBJ did not do anything special for the Igbo. I don't even think he did more for the Igbo than IBB in his days. The appointments were not special favors but OBJ trying desperately to leave some legacy (most of his Igbo appointments was during his second term), because he failed to deliver with other people for years. He did it for selfish reasons.
I know you may be  driven by your cause but OBJ did a lot while in office. A lot more than other presidents. He got the opportunity to continue a good job, and strongly supported Jonathan to where he risked his life. The debt that got settled when he was in office accounts for nothing? Nigeria was on the path of living on aid from international bodies. OBJ did a lot under the circumstances. He did not need to employ Igbo's or need their help, he appointed them because they were qualified for the job. He also obviously wanted an inclusive government. He could have easily appointed Yoruba's in those positions. This just shows you that Yoruba's are more fair than other's in their dealings, and practically it is a weakness because the other tribes do not operate the same way.

Have you heard of ITT? I know you have not, ignoramuses. Fela and the military know better that MKO is a thief. Even his son Deji was recently arrested for bank indebtendness. They have nothing to offer as all the stolen billions are finished.
You are relying on Fela's song to conclude? Am sure you have gone to google and have not been able to pull up anything. In your own words you are using another "Yoruba" brother's words against the other, and that is your source of information. He was a business man, and made his money that way. Obviously every business man incurs debts, am sure you know this. Their estates also pay their debts upon their demise. All what you are saying cannot spoil his reputation as a legend and upright man. Even his wives bravely fought for democracy and your Igbo brother's voted for him immensely. That should tell you something.

The moment IBB threw his hat into the ring for next year's elections, cold calculations began. By that I mean the "whether you like it or not" situation analysis and scenario examinations, began.

If IBB wants to be president of Nigeria, Ndigbo are NOT in a position to stop him. And I believe the same applies to the Yoruba, which is why you find key Yoruba leaders supporting IBB's candidacy.
Ndigbo already tried once to stop another northerner from assuming a post for which he was not qualified. It led to the death of 2 million Easterners.
It won't happen again.
If IBB wants to rule, he is wlecome. Afterall, what is the difference between him and Obasanjo?

All other candidates are not up to par in clout. Simple truth.
Do you really believe what you posted? Look at the facts of their regimes. Am not even asking you to look at OBJ's democratic oh, both of them's military regime's and judge for yourself. Despite the ills that OBJ may have been involved in, he employed the most IGBO's in key positions in this country ever. You have got to give him that. And he brought in good representatives of the Igbo's that people had never heard of before. OBJ has done wrong as well, but i think right now he is on the right path and is really trying to give Nigerian's a chance. He is not necessarily asking for a southerner as president, he wants the people to be able to elect their own president fairly. That is my opinion. You say he is directing Jonathan, well Jonathan has been doing a fantastic job so far. If he is the puppet master, i dont mind that at all. smiley

Frankly, if not for the PDP zoning arrangement (there is something intrinsically immoral about failing to honor gentlemen agreement), Jonathan would have received maximum support from the East. He still does, afterall MASSOB is openly backing him. But, the PDP zoning ties our hands. Jonathan is an honorable man. It doesn't make sense to goad him along to dishonor simple agreements. I was just trying to understand your picture, and how it relates to the topic. It really really contradicts your topic and shows Ojukwu made a very very wrong decision associating with IBB. As it only sets him up. Until you move on from 1967 and demand a free and fair election, Igbo's will not get to be president. The thing you do not know is that there are people with very independent minds from other tribes. People generally will elect a fit candidate under the right circumstances. Embracing a new Nigeria that is fair and just will only benefit you. Supporting IBB will bring nothing. He Still needs the Yoruba support. About your population, where did you get this data? There has never been a true and thorough census taken in Nigeria before. You may be suprised on which silent tribe has more than that population. cool

Yeah o.k, whatever works for you and however you will get there is up to you. But these are the same Igbo leaders that never spoke up or went to meet Jonathan to show support for him. I dont think the SS people will forget this. Please google and verify this claim. The Igbo elders cancelled their meeting with Jonathan because they felt that it did not sit right with the Northerners. Every other group threw their support behind Jonathan, and Jonathan is now acting as president. This is why i will say goodluck to you on joining the SS, people do not forget.

Right now, Ojukwu's main concern is that Ndigbo survive in Nigeria. If IBB will help ensure that, so be it! cool
Yah! sure you would not want us to see the real meaning behind the picture. you put up a picture that is 40 yrs old, and ask use to see what you want us to see ( the more we look the less we see). It only shows that Ojukwu is trying to join a league of plotters. Ojukwu has betrayed these group of men before in a big way, they will just laugh and use him because they will never ever trust his motives. Ojukwu is better off fighting for liberation from the old heads and being a true leader.
LOL, and it is Ojukwu that IBB will trust as an ally? I wish you the best. IBB stands nothing to gain by giving Ojukwu his wish, he benefits more from a united Nigeria. He will not trust Ojukwu because Ojukwu has shown himself in the past, and everyone knows where he stands. He will only use Ojukwu and dump him. The question is this: Does anyone think that Ojukwu will support anyone who has not, and will not deliver on Igbo interest in Nigeria? huh

The bigger fool is the person who thinks that Ojukwu will mortgage Igbo interest for any reason. There are NO better or more trustworthy Igbo leader anywhere else. Uwazuruike and (maybe Peter Obi) are still cutting their teeth in integrity. They will replace the great Ikemba one day.

THE PROTEVANGELION OF JAMES
The Protevangelium of James

CHAPTER 8:
3. And when she was twelve years of age, the priests met in a council, and said, Behold, Mary is twelve years of age; what will we do with her, for fear that the holy place of the Lord our God should be defiled?
4. Then replied the priests to Zacharias the high-priest, You stand at the altar of the Lord, and enter into the holy place, to make petitions concerning her, so whatsoever the Lord will show to you, do it.
5. Then the high-priest entered into the Holy of Holies, and taking away with him the bosom-plate of judgment made prayers concerning her;
6. And behold the angel of the Lord came to him, and said, Zacharias, Zacharias, go forth and call together all the widowers among the people, and let every one of them bring his rod, and he by whom the Lord will show a sign will be the husband of Mary.
9. After the high-priest had received their rods, he went into the temple to pray;
10. And when he had finished his prayer, he took the rods, and went forth and distributed them, and no miracle attended them.
11. The last rod was taken by Joseph, and behold a dove proceeded out of the rod, and flew upon the head of Joseph.
12. And the high-priest said, Joseph, you are the person chosen to take the Virgin of the Lord, to keep her for him:
13. But Joseph refused, saying, I am an old man, and have children, but she is young, and I fear, for fear that I should appear ridiculous in Israel.
