why should the topic be locked?
I agree with you Hollandis. The Abiola's have sacrificed a lot for Nigeria. What most people will never do, and idiots have the nerve to curse their family and say a lot of nonsense. IBB and Abacha made their children orphans all for greed, while their own families remained intact. The Abiola's are a great and well respected family. They should be remembered for their sacrifice. God bless them. cool

Sagamite:
What makes you think you can not go to UK or US to film their slums?

Collect permits? I don't even want to set on your mentality for saying such.
huh huh huh
You talking to me Sagamite? what mentality are you talking about? or did you misquote? if you are unaware of things, ask instead of coming up with a vague and unnecessary response. In developed countries, you cannot film anything without permits. If you do an apply for a permit you have to state the nature of the program and also pay rather heavily for such permits. This is why when Home videos go to shoot things abroad they do it from a distance as if they are just regular peeps, or do the whole take in a house. Hope you now understand my point.

I can imagine how hurt you are, but just leave him alone for God and let God handle him. As long as you did everything with a pure heart, your conscience and your God will fight for you. You will also look back and be grateful that you left him to his own karma. Believe me you will look back and smile. Turn to God and close family in your time of grief. Find someone in your family you can talk to, that will have time to help you get over this in the best way possible. Dont go on any revenge mission on guys or on a sleeping around fit. Just leave it all alone, and leave it to God. kiss

you are still trying to be her friend. She doesnt love you, and that is that. Forget about that nonsense about people growing to love each other, it only works with 1% of people. If someone doesnt want to be with you, just take their word for it and find happiness else where. If you force it they will end up resenting you for keeping them in bondage. Goodluck on your life and future decisions.

Well what the prof is saying is that they could have been more expansive in their coverage. Every place has their good and bad. BBC should focus on bringing attention to the slums in England and its so many issues. Lagos is trying to improve, and they should have given it some credit. Their coverage basically scaled back the strides BRF has tried to make in Lagos. Remember, people all over the world watch this coverage and it could affect investment opportunities. Besides who gave this people permission to film a documentary? Are they not supposed to collect permits before doing these things? Which Nigerian media house can go to Britain or America to film their slums? The media house will run out of business. smiley

Which is exactly where you people are getting it wrong. The number of people you think he exposed, arrested and locked up is simply not a macro-economic index.

That alone simply wont count for any CBN Governor if all they end up achieving is destroying the economy itself.
Well he recovered a lot of investors money, that can be put back into the economy. He has also helped to restore investor confidence, as they know there is a strong presence that may be working in their favor to secure their investments. Like i said he is not perfect, but he did well and we should appreciate what he has done. He can be brought in to work with with the new government. To me he seems like an upright person. I know people will be so quick to jump on him because of his policies, and name all sorts of conspiracy theories but he has good ideas. At least we dont have lifelong bank CEO's anymore, that can steal, lend to their family and operate a failed bank for life.

After basic training and AIT, (six years ago) I got my posting and the first officer i reported to was a captain. As i approached him his features were oddly familiar. When i got within range i gave my salute and lo and behold when the officer uttered "at ease" i was amazed to find out he was igbo. Can you imagine an igbo captain in the US army. And not just a mere captain. this guy was a highly trainned army engineer, the level that would make Nigerian proffs feel like secondary school boys. I told him i never thought i would meet a Nigerian talk less of an igbo man with such responsibilities and position in the US army. He said i had not seen anything yet. I later found out that there were higher ranked Nigerian soldiers there. I asked him about his opinion on matters in Nigeria and the biafra aspiration. You know what he said? "dont mind those fools who through no fault of theirs have not seen a better option and have been brainwashed through poverty to believe in someone elses agenda. Six years later fools are still pushing the f.ucked up agenda, God save us.
Haha, he needs to emancipate himself from mental slavery and realise that human beings only work on self interest. Ojukwu doesnt give a crap about him, but his interest in becoming the king of Biafra. I wish all of the Biafra supporters well, and a safe transition into Biafra. Dimwits. PoliticsIwu To Hand Over To Solomon Soyebi by TewMuch(op): 1:30am On May 03, 2010
Succession crisis hits INEC • Philip Umeadi kicks as Iwu hands over to Solomon Soyebi this week
By Oguwike Nwachuku, Editor, Sunday Independent

http://odili.net/news/source/2010/may/2/400.html

A crisis of succession may have hit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the outgoing Chairman, Prof. Maurice Iwu, hands over to Solomon Soyebi this week. Soyebi is the INEC National Commissioner in-charge of Operations.

The Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan, directed that Iwu should proceed on pre-disengagement leave with immediate effect from April 28, 2010.

Iwu’s tenure officially ends on June 13, having been appointed INEC Chairman in 2005 by President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was before then a National Commissioner.

In the pre-disengagement statement issued by Jonathan’s spokesman, Ima Niboro, Iwu was asked to “proceed on pre-disengagement leave with immediate effect,” and also “to hand over to the most senior National Commissioner, who shall oversee the activities of the Commission pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.”

Jonathan’s directive is the source of fresh tension at the beleaguered Commission. Statutorily, INEC has 12 National Commissioners. Nine completed their tour of duty last year and the vacancies were yet to be filled before President Umaru Yar’Adua took ill late last year.

Of the three left, Victor Chukwuani, Commissioner for Legal Duties, was also instructed to proceed on pre-disengagement leave, leaving Soyebi, National Commissioner for Operations, and Philip Umeadi, National Commissioner for Information and Publicity.

Barely 24 hours after Iwu was asked to proceed on terminal leave, Umeadi was said to have appointed himself Acting Chairman and proceeded to embark on “re-organisation” of INEC. On Thursday, he was said to have gone to the office with a retinue of mobile policemen, and reportedly recalled some staff posted out of Abuja by the outgoing chairman. On the same day, he reportedly upped the ante by issuing instructions to the finance director not to honour any voucher.

A statement on Friday issued by Umenger Emmanuel, INEC’s director of Public Affairs describing Umeadi as Acting Chairman was said to have been initiated by Umeadi himself.

Sunday Independent gathered at the weekend that these moves are causing ripples at Aso Rock. A source in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) told this newspaper on Saturday that the Presidency is not happy with the “seeming power grab by Umeadi because the last thing the Acting President would want now is a crisis of succession at INEC.”

“We don’t know on whose authority he is acting because as I speak, nobody has written him any letter authorising him to act as INEC Chairman pending the appointment of a substantive chairman,” the source added.

Reminded that the statement asking Iwu to proceed on terminal leave requested him to hand over to the most senior National Commissioner with immediate effect, our source retorted; “The word immediate effect is a military language which has no place in a democracy. In any case, what are the criteria for determining the most senior? All of them are National Commissioners and they are equal. Moreover, Iwu was not sacked. Yes, he has proceeded on terminal leave and won’t return as INEC Chairman, but he remains so until June 13 and should therefore decide who to hand over to unless the government in its wisdom nominates an Acting Chairman. But it is absurd for someone to nominate himself. I think the Government has realised its mistake.”

Meanwhile, all arrangements have been concluded for Iwu to hand over the affairs of the Commission to Ogun State-born Soyebi this week.

An INEC source said that Iwu settled for Soyebi based on his cognate experience. “I can authoritatively tell you that the INEC Chairman, Maurice Iwu, who is presently on terminal leave prior to the expiration of his tenure will hand over to Commissioner Soyebi this week. While it is true that there is no senior or junior when it comes to National Commissioners, between Umeadi and Soyebi, the latter has served longer in INEC. In fact, Soyebi is the longest serving INEC Commissioner now. Besides, he was a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) before he was appointed a National Commissioner. So, in terms of cognate experience, he is way ahead of Umeadi and it will be unfair for Iwu to side-step him and hand over to Umeadi, who is only using his connections in the media by virtue of his position as Media Commissioner to cause confusion. But all that will stop this week.”

Brave heart. No matter what people say, he is standing for something. Good for him, he is only saying the truth. I dont care who runs and who wins, all i care about is that Nigeria is able to resolve its issues and move forward with a credible leader. The old heads should take a rest, this election should be determined by the people and should be free and fair. He has totally made himself irrelevant. Dont know how people can keep calling him hero. Total blind ambition. It doesnt take much, they can go ahead and secede. Their leaders are cowards. They refused to back Jonathan because of fear of offending their Northern brothers, yet they have the guts to abuse Yoruba people that led the way for Jonathan. Na wa for this people oh. The north doesnt need more states, i think they have more states than other zones. If they really want to be fair, they should even out the number of states to each zone. What they are proposing is nonsense. We should really have zones in Nigeria, not states. North, SW, SS, SE, MB. This state nonsense is not for our system of government and its just going to be ridiculously expensive. They definitely want to copy america's style, but we cannot afford it, and only 2 states in America is bigger than Nigeria as a whole. They need to invest in amenities and infrastructures that are most needed, instead of thinking of new ways to embezzle money. nonsense. angry

From experience people always want to hear what they want to hear. I know what i will say is not what you want to hear, but people hardly change. She is impressionable and a follow follow, also from what she has done shows that she has a weak mind. She will also do most of these things for money. Are you able to satisfy her financially at this stage in your life? what if a friend calls her one day with all the perks of her former lifestyle involved, she will not be able to resist. You have to be confident and sure of the person you are with, and also be even more confident of what she will do when you are not there. If you decide to stay with her, it is at your own risk of heart break and all sorts. You also know that people can have gonorrhea in their mouth right? So many things these days that you cannot afford to be with a reckless person. My concern is the phase she is in her life, all her friends are doing the same thing and what you wont let her do in your presence she will do in your absence. Hope all i wrote makes sense.

Leave him alone and concentrate on your life. Try to get yourself something doing, and dont let it affect your studies. Trust me, when he sees that you are not dependent on him and dont send him anymore, he will start to pay more attention. When he comes home, dont even bring the girl up. I understand the poster, but what can the girl do? Concentrate on getting the stuff that will make her happy and satisfied. And then propose as soon as possible. The thing is you may have to deal with your insecurity throughout life, and having to try to satisfy her enough so that she would not look outside. Are you willing to go through all that pressure? Being beautiful is a burden as even most men are just skeptical about the girl being faithful, and what she is really doing with them. The attention is just the surface of what a pretty girl goes through. Its not as rosy as you think.
