Ibime:
You gotta be one of the silliest MFs known to humankind. . . . what do you term as "being in the struggle for anyone apart from themselves". . . . whats the monetary gain of travelling 200miles offshore to blow-up Bonga oil platform? Or travelling 200 miles to Lagos?. . . . . you have been warned that it is open-season on members of your profession in the Niger-Delta . . . . I am sure its affecting you, thats why you are constantly spewing gobbledygook.
Bonga wasn't blown up - Jomo Gbomo's emails are typically rich in hyperbole. It's patently clear that these attacks are merely aimed at showcasing the 'might' of the MEND millitants. The monetary gain is in the long term, not that anyone expected an immediate payment for these actions.

I've long since noticed that plain facts are the bane of your existence, so let's see you answer these.

1. What have the MEND millitants done (directly) for the people of the Niger Delta so far? How many relief materials did they donate to the displaced people of Gbaramatu?

2. What do you say to the hundreds of millions of naira these millitants demand (and get) from ND state Governors? What was the purpose of this money when it was in the hands of the State Government? Develop the state or pay millitants?

3. What have the ND millitants done about the corrupt state and local government officials who have ceaselessly diverted monies meant for the common man?

4. Can MEND raise the dead? if not, what have they done to recompense the families of the innocent civillians they've brutally killed in their operations?

5. Four innocent civillians were cut down in the Atlas Cove attack. Why has there been no public apology from MEND over this to the families of those involved?

Please reply.

Hehehehehehe

Nairalanders no go kill person with laff

Why the fuss about an ordinary sum of 3 billion naira.Though, some senior commanders of MEND have spoken out to dissociate themselves and MEND from that saga, anyone who thought the militants would disarm forever just because of 3 billion and some bungalows has displaced Ali baba as Nigeria's king of comedy.Do the math, how much has Uduaghan been giving the Delta MEND monthly, how much has Sylva been giving them(never mind that he said he's stopped),from these two states alone, they'd have got the 3 billion from just the two state governments in about nine months, not factoring in the endless oil bunkering they engage in with the active connivance of the Navy, plus bank robberies and protection monies from multi nationals etc etc

That aside,MEND still wants to retain a semblance of legitimate struggle for resource control,so without the FG adopting the principle of true fiscal federalism, they'll still give MEND(especially the criminal elements within them, who I guess make up to 97% of the rank and file) an excuse to bear arms and carry out acts of economic sabotage
So in summary you're saying MEND are among the groups bleeding the Niger DElta dry?

I certainly won't mention Ojukwu's jetting out of the country as Biafra collapsed. That was clearly a strategic retreat, not running away as some have mentioned.

Seriously though, tribe has nothing to do with it. Self-preservation is paramount, especially if there's something to live for.

Now, question for you people; if your tribes/people are so bold to laugh in the face of certain death, why haven't we had the sort of revolution in Nigeria that we saw in Ukraine, Thailand and Iran?

please answer this quickly.

This is not about whether there are factions in MEND, or who gets to say what. It's simply that MEND have done nothing to show that they are in this struggle for anyone apart from themselves.
Once again i draw a parallel between the self-serving actions of these people and the actions of other groups like Hezbollah and Hamas that actually actively take steps to assist the common man in their areas of operation.

At the end of the day, you'll see the demands they'll make will be no less selfish than these ludicrous demands.

Let's look at this another way.
Yusuf advocated Sharia Justice. And in Sharia law the penalty for murder is death. Yusuf and his followers killed people. And the top islamic scholars in Nigeria claim that the guy's teachings are un-islamic. Ergo, he should then have been tried by a Shariah court and convicted and executed for murder.

Put yourself in the shoes of the police. You capture someone who's directly responsible for the deaths of tens of Police and Soldiers, probably some friends and colleagues of the arresting soldiers. Is there any incentive left to coddle the fellow?
I'm not saying they shoulda killed him. But i understand!

He is a good example of a Yoruba. Here in the US, they drop names like ''no man's'' business. Useless people.
LOng ago, tens of thousands of Africans were taken from their continent to serve as slaves to white men who believed the black man is intrinscially inferior to the white race. This erroneous belief permitted much suffering and pain to be meted out on black people in the name of slavery.

Fast forward to 2009 and see some Nigerians stupidly trying to pass across this same message of superiority, albeit on a tribal/ethnic scale and not a racial scale. Do we never learn? What in God's name does anyone stand to gain from pursuing a tribalist agenda?

I feel the Mods should do more to stamp out these evil and divisive topics from NL.

This story ascribed to Saharareporters is total hogwash that medium never reported that the plane was spirited out of Nigeria. You Texazzpete you provide the url or google cache of such story if you have it. It is you that just lied through your teeth. I had cause to challenge another character here who made a similar sinister claim that Saharareporters reported that Yar'adua had died in 2007. Truth was that Saharareporters did not report anything like that. I await your evidence or an apology.
I think i made that claim last year based on what someone told me, someone who i usually consider to be a reliable source. I have been unable to find a link verifying that claim, so i think in this case you guys are in the clear. My apologies.

Politics › Re: Detained Nigerian Sect Head 'Dead' - Breaking News by texazzpete(m): 9:14am On Jul 31, 2009
RichyBlacK:
Correct words.

The Nigerian government is shamelessly useless! The youths are abandoned and hope is squeezed from their minds. Nothing is done to alleviate the suffering of the poor.

This is not about religion. The Nigerian government is known to use its killing machines - the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Army - to kill civilians, whenever they please. Was Odi inhabited by the Taliban? Was Kalakuta Republic, destroyed by zombies in uniform, inhabited by religious extremists?

The Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Army, have a long history of disregarding the law and murdering civilians. It is this state-sponsored terrorism on the Nigerian populace, from Zaki Biam to Lagos, from Onitsha to Odi, from Port-Harcourt to Maiduguri, and the concomitant ineptitude of security and law enforcement apparatus in Nigeria, that must be blamed for most, if not all, of the social upheavals in Nigeria.
Yeah right. Four innocent civillians were killed by MEND in the Atlas Cove attack, the same MEND you wholeheartedly support. When you throw in the tens of innocents killed by MEND proxies like ateke tom and the civillians routinely killed during MEND operations you have to wonder at your hypocrisy for supporting this group while condemning the Nigerian Army.
When the video purportedly showing Nigerian soldiers killing two fishermen in Bonny emerged, you responded fervently raining down curses on the Nigerian Army. Why was your response to the deaths of the four civillians in Atlas Cove much more muted? Aren't all human beings supposed to be equal?

Last week MEND announced that 'oil workers and their families will now be targeted'. Families.  Does that word not sink into your skull? Where's the moral justification to pontificate about how evil the Nigerian Army is while you shamelessly throw your lot in with miscreants?

i'm now firmly in support of resource control, or at least an increase in Oil derivation to 50%. But i at least know not to place a halo over the heads of these people.

I have never seen an educated Muslim burning cars, houses and being involved in vilolence, from Nigeria to Pakistan, this I have never seen. They are all uneducated, poor people who hold onto their religion (Islam) and take its teaching without any thoughts or underlying understanding. My point is that the teachings of Islam has the highest chance of its followers misunderstanding and misconstrueing it to take actions like we are seeing in Northern Nigeria.
Al Zawahiri, the second in command of Al Qaeda is very well educated. Osama bin laden is pretty well educated too. Many of the top elite in Al Qaeda have received formal education. Your assumption does not hold water in this regard.

To be honest, i think Obama acted foolishly in using the 'stupid' word without knowing everything about the case. The last thing he needs is to insert himself into any racially charged argument, it's a lose-lose situation for him.

The white police officer in question is reputed to be pretty friendly to blacks and has no recorded history of racial discrimination.

Someone said he went to the 0ffice at Ojuelegba and was shown documentary proof. How can he verify the authenticity of such documents?

What i see here is people buying the guy's story whole heartedly just because he's a Nigerian. It's silly to take sides until the complete story is known, and you hear both sides of the argument.

These people are paying for the sins of other Nigerians before them. I feel sorry for them, but i cannot put much blame on the Canadian embassy, who are only doing what they think right. We've had accredited members of football teams abscond overseas from soccer competitions. Hundreds/thousands more travel out with a plethora of papers, yet vanish into thin air.
