lol. Did i hear someone say Sony was 'defaming' Nigeria? As in, you think we aren't guilty as charged? |
izeek:I cannot understand why you people default to this generic and brainless answer as the solution to the problem. Is it only in Nigeria that unemployment is soaring? If joblessness is the main reason, why are tens of thousands of Nigerian undergraduates and secondary school students in cafes sending scam email? Please answer. Also, why do they persist in 419 even when they easily earn more money in one year than their banker friends do in 5 years? Greed is the main driver. |
cap28:Genocide, huh? Why don't you loonies focus on the real genocides in Darfur and the rape in Congo instead of fishing about for senseless, helf-baked theories? You conspiracy theorists are quite pathetic, always driven by a need to make chaos out of sense. Research? On a blog? LMAO! |
It amuses me when i see people dissing Wikipedia all in a bid to appear smart. As an online Encyclopaedia, wikipedia is an extremely valuable resource. While some cases of vandalism exist, it's reliability in most cases speaks for itself. Funny how it's only on Nairaland i see people sneering when someone refers to Wikipedia. As far as the topic is concerned, why would any right-thinking adult imagine HIV-Aids would be a biological weapon against black people when it's a disease that 1. Readily infects whites also 2. Is impossible to effectively quarantine. 3. Has no known cure Seems a clear case of misfiring cerebral neurons, if you ask me. |
Dunno what you guys are whining about, it's targeted at people who call a lot, not at you fellow. 10 mins daily is not that much, if you look at it. |
Shitty defence, shitty teamwork. As usual we rely on individual brilliance and little on teamwork. Utter crap! |
TheSeeker:There's also nothing honest about 'repentant' millitants already threatening to go back to the creeks at the first sign of adversity. |
I can assure you, even at 50k you will not find a buyer. What greed! |
A Tale of Two Countries After world War 2, Japan's reputation was in the abyss at an all time low. How did they fix it? By massive industrialization, a resolve to abstain from the horrors of war and a focus on economic improvement. Nigeria has a not unfounded reputation for 419 scams. How do we resolve this? Why, by writing petitions of course! |
peruso:Good. By that same standard, for the fact Many Nigerians have stolen money relentlessly from tens of thousands of westerners, we DESERVE THEIR DISRESPECT. You talk about proferring solutions, how many have you offered apart from this shameless attempt to bury your head in the sand and paper over all the flaws and cracks. peruso:Not at this rate, you won't. As we speak, hundreds of thousands of scam emails are being sent out from Nigeria. peruso:Isn't that what we're good at? Watching idly? Feeling no shame? Look at all of you people thinking that railing against Sony is a way to show patriotism. Why not go out to the nearest cafe and speak to these boys doing the true damage to our country? |
Eagle1:Of course i know about these things, anyone with half a brain and a reasonably keen sense of observation will know all these. When 419 is such a big menace to our reputation, only a dumbass will not take time out to learn what makes these people tick. Eagle1:Can you please learn to read before typing? My trust comment was made when i referred to Dating scams, scams aimed at churches, charity organisations, scams centered around natural disasters like Katrina etc. However, it's still apt in many cases, including the popular lottery scams. People are used to getting things free on the net these days, and not everyone is extremely intelligent. Eagle1:Yet again you show your puzzling inability to comprehend simple written English. People KNOW that there's a serious piracy problem in Somalia. But anyone doing business with a Somalian in Brooklyn or Texas will not associate the person with Piracy. |
igbo boy:As i said before, no one will ever take a Somali living in Aberdeen, Brooklyn or Toronto for a pirate. The effect of Somali piracy is localized. Can you say the same for Nigerian 419ers? igbo boy:1. You are actually condoning 419. Anything short of Zero tolerance is sympathetic to their cause. 2. The fact that You live in a country where all your journalists are sell-outs does not mean that all other countries' media fall in that mould. Tens of thousands of Westerners have been duped by Nigerians, and millions more have recieved 419 mails emanating from Nigeria. What do you expect them to think? |
Daft article. Why does the writer seek to make a disctinction between 'ordinary Nigerians' and 'high profile Nigerians'? Damn right there's country profiling. Do you know the high rate of defections made by Nigerians in the past? Or the number of applicants that turn up with papers prepared in Oluwole? PS: but it's not an easy process for expats to get a NIgerian visa. It took 2 months + for the dutch parents of an expat in my office to get a visa to Nigeria and he assures me that it's pretty much standard to expect serious delays and holdup when applying for a Nigerian visa. |
Eagle1:1. Not every scam needs a 'greedy idiot'. Dating scams, money order scams and scams defrauding churches and charities only need a great amount of trust, not greed 2. Every human being has a kernel of greed in him, it just depends on the stimulus needed to push you over the threshold. When all is said and done, all the blame must fall on the instigator, the seducer, the initiator. And that is the Nigerian. 3. Your somali pirate analogy is rather brainless. Piracy is confined to the waters of Somalia. No-one is gonna think a Somali living in aberdeen is a pirate. Nigerian scammers reach everywhere in the western world. |
I cannot order anything from Amazon and ship to Nigeria. Expansys UK turns down my credit card order for a HTC Touch Pro 2 because - as the apologetic customer rep said - '99% of credit card orders made on the Expansys website from Nigeria are fraudulent'. Ebay sellers are EXTREMELY wary about shipping to Nigeria. Most will not touch any orders from Nigeria with a 10 foot pole. Sony didn't do this to us. We Nigerians did it to ourselves. Fix your bloody country first before being self righteous. Funny how 419 glorifying music like Yahoozee, Maga Don Pay and I Go Chop Your Dollar are major chart toppers in Nigeria. |
What a bunch of cowards you lot are! You cannot petition against the ASUU strike and the Federal Govt's apathy to education You cannot petition that Yar'Adua recieves all his medical care in Nigeria You sure as hell cannot petition the NASS to sign the long delayed Freedom of Information bill You cannot petition for electoral reforms. Candidates you voted for have decamped to other parties. You lot cannot be arsed to petition against that. Now when it comes to foreign companies, suddenly we decide we can finally feel outraged! The same educated elite that are driving this movement are the same people that abstained from voting in the last election out of an overwhelming desire to protect their own skin. As for the Sony ad, i've seen worse. And to be honest, we deserve it. When you celebrate 419 in your country, when there's little effort to curb the flood of millions of scam emails originating from your country, when your countrymen get a reputation of being greedy, unrelenting and extremely cruel fraudsters. so create a new petition against 419 in Nigeria. but i wouldn't hold my breath. |
Ah, i see where the issue comes from I originally wrote C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes\iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 However, you'll notice that the path is actually supposed to be 'Program Files', not 'Programfiles'. That's why you're getting the invalid path error. So enter it like this "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 Remember, you need the space between Program and Files, and the double quotes are neccessary whenever there are spaces in your path. Run it like this again, should work. Loopylove, my bad for the typo. |
kosovo:I don't know what you're smoking, son, but i feel for you. In the spirit of christianity, i hereby offer to pay for your rehab anytime you're ready to be re-integrated in the society. PS: When lucidity sets in, ask yourself where it's written that all former governors are entitled to three jeeps. Also ask yourself why Jeeps were given out now in his tenure. Why weren't they handed over to him during the past administrations? |
adaku123:+1 for you!! Nigerians and their stupid scaremongering. |
will you sell for 65k? |
platinumnk:Just replied ya! |
*Sigh* When i saw 'wooing' i thought i'd see a girl lamenting about the lack of romantic men these days. I thought i'd see someone complaining that men aren't putting that much effort into making her feel loved and cherished bla bla bla Instead i see someone complaining about guys not spending enough on her. The greed is strong in this one. . . Make your own money and stop whining . |
As far as i'm concerned, people should obey the lawas of the country they live in, or STFU. Why should the Nigerian Government spend our taxpayers' money to 'bring these people home'? Let the Chinese govt put them to work until they can cough up the money to return back under their own steam. |
PAININASS:Another absolutely baseless claim that merely confirms your status as an unrepentant fool. |
Oluschenco:Good. Now here's a question for you: Do you know how many years of hard study, massive personal development and a plethora of written and published papers it takes to become a Professor? Forget professors for a minute. A fresh graduate with a first class degree starts off his academic career as a Lecturer Assistant. How much do you think lecturer assistants earn? So why would any right thinking brilliant person enter academia when he'll earn less than an ordinary cashier in Unity Bank? Here's the growth Lecturer Assistant > Lecturer 2 > Lecturer 1 > Lecturer > Senior LEcturer > Professor So many years of effort to earn less than a local government councillor. And it's not all about the money. Sometimes it's about the quality and joy of the work. Arguably, South African Universities have better equipment, better infrastructure and better working conditions. So it's comparing apples to oranges to look at their salaries in absolute terms. |
Excellent! i'll take two at that price. Could you send a contact number to priyeandroid@gmail.com? Would like to discuss other possible deals with you. |
Afam:I agree with you 100%! There can be no excuse for kidnapping. |
utotomi10:Simply because the Nintendo DS has had far more (and far better) games than the PSP. It's not something Nigerians can easily understand, we're usually hooked by shiny things ![]() |
We need to stop glorifying crime in this country. Kidnapping in the SE is merely an attempt for greedy youths to make money quickly and illegally without considering the suffering of the families of the victims. This has NOTHING to do with the 'revolt of the oppressed', and i dont know why a journalist will attempt to romanticise and whitewash this insidious crime. |
whiteroses:Sometimes it amazes me how little some of my fellow human beings know, and how eager they are to share their ignorance with the world. There's no excuse for not knowing that the space race was primarily between the US and Russia in the 60's and 70's. |
