54.78% of Lagosians fall within this poverty line and has been supporting themselves by trading, either in the streets of in traffic.

theophorus: Power supply problem in Nigeria is Multifaceted.
1. Generator importers don't work it solve. 2.Gas(Petrol) seller don't want it solve. 3. Think about the immediate effect of constant Power supply on the finance of Generator technician's 4. Think of the CORRUPTION factor. 5. The staff don't want it to work (why won't they supply prepaid meters) 6. Think about the Nigeria Factor.
...#ProblemAreMeantToBeSolved. why also can't the federal government allow each state to generate, distribute and transmit its electricity needs. ? |

Government needs to take more drastic action on street hawking. We understand times are really hard, but a lot of robbers have used this street hawking excuse as opportunity to rob and in some cases kill innocent motorist.
Every time people migrate from other parts of Nigeria, with misinformation that all they need to do is to stay on the street of Lagos get some goods on credit from some big suppliers and they would be making thousands of naira each day by hawking their wares, Alas when they find out that such thousands are not coming in they have hard choices return to their state of origin, which usually is a no-no, or take to a life of crime. More often than not the last option is preferred and is one of the reason for the high crime rate in Lagos.
Rest in peace to the dead. |

MARKone: It very sad. The problem with Nigerians, once the start something, especially bad ones, they tend to over do. They really do not understand the economic, social and political implications of these bombings, which I must say, is an act of cowardice. Most of the people here applauding these terrible act of vandalism here, are people that are probably still being fed by their parents, they just don't comprehend. The FG should consider cutting allocations of states that "harbour" these so called agitators, anytime the bombs goes off. The light situation have been terribly bad since the peak of this crisis, affecting businesses and live. It is disheartening. Money that should be channeled to something more productive will be used in appeasing few terrorist. The FG should consider cutting allocations of states that "harbour" these so called agitators, anytime the bombs goes off.How do you hold State Governors, responsible when they are not in control of the police... This just shows that the selfish reason for the north not granting each state to have their state police should be urgently reconsidered. I assure you State police would have checked the menace of pipeline vandalism. It is now time to have State Police, then you can hold the state governor responsible for any insecurities in their respective state. |

In her country, she can get a credit card, pay off the fees month by month, and defer paying the principal until her tomato farm yields in 3 months. In your country, your banks charge you all manner of fees to keep money with them.
In her country, the US govt sent $500 to every American during the global financial crisis to stimulate spending and boost their economy. In your country, Buhari cannot even honour his party's promise to pay $17.86 (N5,000) to unemployed and vulnerable Nigerians.
In her country, the government subsides agriculture heavily and gives their farmers access to guaranteed markets. In your country, your agric minister wants to import grass and fodder from Brazil to feed cows and also to do away with fertilizer subsidy.

oyb: I consider rich dad poor dad to be mostly BS, but one thing stood out
His rich dad told him if you're going to be an entrepreneur, you must not let your staff unionize. If you're going to be a professional, you must be in an industry with a strong union.
A lot of downsizing in this country is executive fat cats making the worker ants take the fall for their bad decisions and wastage.
As per industrial courts, it's a war of attrition. The banks etc know that workers may not have the resources for a drawn out battle, so they sack arbitrarily.
Nigerian banks are a prime example of an industry that needs to be unionized. Those fuckers will such the life-force out if people and discard them.
In all this downturn, the ogas at the top keep buying new cars and sharing bonus etc while telling everyone else to tighten belt. well stated. thanks..... |
