fero07:this challenge is quite different and scary... please tell me which of the past government experienced America not buying a single drop of Nigeria crude.... In-fact America will start competing in the export market for crude oil, not to talk of the stock pile of Iranian oil ready to be flooded into the already saturated oil market... These are truly worrying time.. PMB must redouble his effort to fix the epileptic supply of electricity, this must be done in the short to medium term, there is no time to waste.... Fashola is yet to give us a time table when Nigeria will no longer experience power outage. improve safety, transportation, communication... All these are essential ingredient for the dividend of industrialization policy to be fully realized. How do you enter the export market when your average cost of production is higher than the competition due to lack of constant electricity, constant water supply... etc. #oilwealth is wealth without work! Nigerians must start appreciating the value of hard work!!! |
spiralwedge:I could not have put it better! I understand Igbo's dilemma they need a hero... I pray they will find one but surely Ojukwu is the least deserving.... Ojukwu was an opportunist , took a nation to a war that he knew they could not win driven by his selfish interest to rule by all means and instead of doing the right thing... he fled the battle field. Subsidy removal without a way of breaking collusion by the oil cartel is surely the FG's dilemma! For subsidy removal to be effective, the government would need to roll out more NNPC mega stations across the country... You can not talk of full deregulation and still maintain price band for the sale of PMS... as long as the downstream market is oligopolistic in nature, the cartel would either collude on a fixed price or reduce their supply of petrol to maintain their abnormal profits.... irrespective of the fall in price of crude oil in the global market. |

With low oil price and given IMF prediction of $20/barrel it is time to see mergers in the upstream sector, the era of marginal field operators is definitely a thing of the past as they can not survive with crude oil selling at such a low price. There is a need to achieve economies of scale by indigenous oil producers in order to lower cost of production per barrel. The government should encourage all marginal field operators as matter of urgency to adopt mergers as a means of achieving economies of scale, which will lead to reduction in the Marginal Cost of Production (MCP). NIGERIA WILL SURVIVE!!! |
saxywale:My God this people are determined to make sure our oil sells for $1 per barrel. |

My only sadness is that Obj has shown little or no concern with regards to the manner in which bola ige was killed. I deeply suspect Bola Ige's death was politically motivated, but no one can escape the eternal judgment. |

After reading all the posts i would like to share a recent experience i had... My son was recently discharged from Lagoon hospital, when i got a call while at home from a doctor to please bring back the medications that they had prescribed for my son (a toddler) because he had reacted severely to one of the drugs in the past.... First thank God for the out of patient medical review system at Lagoon and also that the Network was available and working and i was able to receive the call... Just imagine what could have happened if we had innocently administer the drugs to my son only for serious issues to start during the night, where do you begin, where do you rush him to.. The drug was replaced with another containing a different formulation.... but there are things i would love to praise Lagoon hospital for... 1. They have invested heavily in the use of information technology to improve their care of patients 2. The era of physically (manual) opening of files for a patient in different branches is no more... all patient have electronic medical records where any doctors in any of their branch can log on to and make a medical assessment. 3. It is easier to sort through lots of patients file history electronically, than the methods of piling heaps of files that probably would have faded away, illegible doctors scribble, missing sheets or papers eating away by cockroaches. 2, When you go to the hospital you get an sms alert indicating the date and time you came to the clinic. ( an area of improvement is for the alert to include the Dr. Name and phone number and area of specialization. 3. Another suggested area of improvement is that when you are given your drugs, the name of the drugs administered should be sent in form of an sms to your phone and via email. Believe me in case of emergency ie. on the road etc., a doctor that goes through your phone sms and see the list of drugs that you had been administered over a period of time,,,, will find such an information invaluable in making certain judgment call. Some may ask why was the drug that my son had reacted to in the past prescribed again?,,,, obviously in every system there are still loopholes.. (but having a system of checks and balance would reveal such mistakes) but i believe the Management of Lagoon would have looked into this issue and put in place proactive means to ensure that a recurrence of such mistake those not happen again.... that is what is only logically expected. The ministry of health should make it compulsory: 1. for all hospitals to have a electronic medical record filing system 2. There should be system for sharing such medical records amongst various medical practitioners in case of emergency or need for alternative opinion. 3. Government funding of such a scheme should be carried out and a long term repayment plan worked out for clinics who do not have the financial means to set up such an electronic database. 4. Information technology should be employed in line with international best practice. 5. Hospitals should have incidence reporting and how taking necessary steps avoided the incidence leading to a fatal event. 6. Consultants should have permit to have special siren fitted in their cars for purpose of emergencies. I am in total support of Chazb's wife action... too many innocent and voiceless people have left this world before their time due to negligence and decay in the health care system. The action she has taken can only lead to system improvement and make our doctors more vigilant, caring and responsive in the discharge of their duties. |
These are the sad consequences when mentally deranged people that should be institutionalized in hospitals are allowed to freely roam the street and mingle with people. RIP TO THE DEAD! |
The green card... why 1. Qualitative education for my children 2. I see one of my children becoming the next president of America... sorry to disappoint you folks it wont happen in Nigeria.. ethnicity, rotational crap and all that. 3. A society that values truthfulness more than money! see what bill cosby is going through! 4. A society that questions the source of your wealth 5. Qualitative health care system. why do you think all our rich men rush abroad for medical treatment. 6. No big man can dupe you and get away with it... the story of Nigeria 7. I dont have to make any funny calls on behalf of my children for someone to fix him/her up... if he is hard working he will easily make it abroad. 8. No need to worry about the so called african jazz. 9. Free from all those extended family.... constantly demanding... 10. I can comfortably drive my brand new car and be happy to see all around me people with beautiful rides 11. no more living in gated house, gated roof, gated street.... when one is not in zoo.. i call that living in bondage 12. It is better now to invest abroad... with the fall in crude oil price, the real value of shares will soon reveal itself which is southwards! 13. The average Nigerian worker is becoming poorer by the day due to depreciation of naira against major currencies. |
