Timewilltell3:Not exactly...they have power cuts, yes, but it isn't like Nigeria's own 1.It was largely due to coal shortages. 2.Nigeria's problems have a lot to do with poor equipment, and poor generation capacity. Anyway, according to Reuters, South Africa's energy company ESKOM says there won't be power cuts this year. Slightly off topic...but for us to get to SA's 40000mw...we need hundreds of billions of dollars US . My focus is on how we can get the money to get to that region, and for now...raising bills is the way forward...(we don't have $100billion needed to fix transmission alone) |
Timewilltell3:I think it is a good idea we have an idea of the problem before we solve it. Truth is, since I was very young, I have always blamed government for not doing something about power....until my eyes were opened in 2014...during the DISCO process, and I saw that it was going to cost us lots to fix power. South Africa has good power supply because 1.) They get part of their pwoer from nuclear energy...5000MW to be precise. 2.They have good maintenance culture. 3.They pay their bills. 4.They export power for revenue...to at least 6 other countries...who also pay bills. We can get there...problem is, we need the investment , hence DISCOS and GENCOS. NB: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_power_stations_in_South_Africa |
AutoReportNG:Landrover, old style...not the new flashy one. The old Landrover...a car that was used by....everyone... |
superemmy:A cat's spit cannot cause blindness... HOWEVER Cats carry a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii that cause several complications in the human body especially if cat secretions get ingested with food and water....and this can include blindness, among other things. If you come in contact with a cat or cat droppings, do do wash your hands thoroughly. If you eat cat or any member of the cat family(eg lion), do cook the meat thoroughly before eating. |
PurplePatch:It is wrong of you to assume the corper was not treated by the hospital in question, when infact she was... 1.The first photo shows that she has an IV line in her right arm....for fluids and blood transfusion, as well as an oropharangeal airway...for breathing...which tells me that basic life support has been commenced. 2.The second photo is obviously a chest tube, which was put into her chest to drain blood which most likely had colelcted in her chest as a result of the wounds sustained. I realize our doctors and nurses and other medics have bad eggs amongst them, but it is false to assume that the hospital did nothing. 3.Also, if the bullets hit a major vessel, sometimes there is nothing that can be done. |
Just30:OK... but good to know you now know that Ghana does not generate 25000mw. One more thing, this power thing has long gone beyond politics. |
Just30:According to.USAID figures from 2018,Ghana has an.installed capacity of 4000MW, with 2400MW available at any time. https://www.usaid.gov/powerafrica/ghana Plus, Ghana.has less than 20million people, compared to our 200million which is why their power supply appears better than ours. Ghana.does not generate 26000mw.If they did, they won't be importing power from us |
FatherJP:Ghana generates 3600 mw. Source : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electricity_sector_in_Ghana Plus, the power sector in Nigeria has been privatised since the last admin Add the fact that most of my figures have sources. Power needs money. And right now we need to increase generation massively. If anything, I am not here to.lie,i tell the truth, plus I supported the privatization process |
Adefemiaderoju1:OK...so Sowore wins (I like the guy)...here are his options for getting us to 24/7 power supply Note...he has to find at least $100billion to fix everything. 1.Take over the DISCOS and GENCOS...which means paying compensation to the now former owners...which would cost billions, and then still having to find $100bn to fix the whole thing...with a reserve less than $50billion.Plus the previous owners will go and get their friends in high places to get him impeached. 2.Increase bills to about N30000 monthly for a one bedroom, N60000 monthly for two bedroom. Which would get him impeached. 3.Approach IMF for a loan in conjunction with the DISCOS and GENCOS....which would mean payback over a long period of time...which means increased power bills...which means he gets impeached. 4.Raise taxes...which gets him impeached. 5.Pray that oil rises to $150 per barrel....at which point other competing interests like educaiton, health, sports, etc come in first. Which means raised bills inspite of the increased money...which means he gets impeached. |
Not true South Africa generates 40000MW. We need at least 80000MW before we can see light 24/7. And that is not mentioning the transmission system that needs some fixing urgently. Lagos city alone needs 10000MW. Mr Shehu should stop boasting...and for once be honest. Nigeria needs billions of US dollars to fix power. Most of thise billions are going to come from our pockets. It does not win elections, but it is honesty. Govt better find the $300bn ($900bn according to some experts) needed to fix light...and bills have to be raised. (Our foreign reserve is just under $45 billion, and was once at $60billion. You see the problem). 12000 MW is enough to just give Nigerians CURRENTLY CONNECTED TO THE GRID (Minus those who are not lgally connected to the gird) 10 hours of light daily. |
If FIFA bans us now....someone will complain. |
crafteck:Well, we have no.proof that the men were from the police, nor do we have any proof they were SARS members. I happen to think SARS has issues and needs to be scrapped, but there are criminals who impersonate policemen too. |
I know SARS have lots of bad eggs, but anyone can impersonate a police man |
Where are all the Messi Vs Ronaldo fans? ![]() |
YoungFr:I don't believe in traditional religion, but I was happy the day the Oba of Benin cursed traffickers and kidnappers.in his domains. Good for the woman. Legit business you don't want. Enjoy.karma |
Lexusgs430:The problem is the institution does not have the money. And.what little.cash.they have is being mismanaged. You cannot get 2million naira degrees for just 30000 |
If you want good facilities, pay HIGH fees or HIGH taxes, or borrow.from IMF |
So we want peace, but won't do the hard work to get peace Like reporting crimes when a cow is stolen or farmland is destroyed, or a farmer or herder get killed Like not hiding killers.of farmer or herdsmen. Like proper land management and ranching, preferably in the far north Like stopping the encroachment of the Sahara. Like ending Nigerian overdependence on firewood which is exacerbating the Sahara encroachment Like fairness and justice to all. Like ending bigotry and taking the law into one's hands Like ending the whole joke of the police being useless on one hand, and the useful in chasing herders or farmers on the other. Like voting the right people at local government level. Like fixing the railway, and being ready to invest in rail development. Like doing agro allied industry Better than calling for self defence on one hand and removing several humans for one cow on the other. Nigerian govt and people it is that simple |
DrGoodman:Right...because the news does not jibe with your beleif...you write it off. Just because they were in IPOB does not mean IPOB sent them, or approved of their activities. Abeg...IPOB is not an organisation of angels....some members would go and do their own thing...without the leaders knowing. And i say this as someone who does not agree with IPOB. |
Odingo1:I have actually seen and known cow fulani and town fulani....and I know that that lot are not by nature violent until someone touches their cows. Now, that does not mean I approve or support their violent acts. If your cow has been killed...call the police. Simple. But the farmers too are not innocent. They too steal cows and attack Fulani. Most of the time because their farmlands have been attacked too. The thing that pains me about this whole thing is that in this country....we accuse the Police and the Army of taking sides in this conflict, and then at the same time expect them to deal with our enemies. There is no jihad. Rather, I expect our government to improve security and do better land management. And people for once to stop taking the laws into their own hands. And for PDP and APC to stop playing politcs with people's lives. Good morning. |
Neoteny:Exactly... That's why I laff when I hear Fulani herdsmen are Jihadis...the lot that i knew were basically , well, religious sort of. Slight correction....most of the Fulani here in Nigeria are Muslim, the idol worshipping Fulani herdsmen live in two other West African countries.Though, some of the Nigerian fulani herders are probably muslim in name only(unlike their settled/town/farm fulani who are more religious. Dan Fodio came from the Town fulani stock. Probably never herded a cow in his life). |
hisexcellency34:No, five African teams failed to make it to second round because we don't have strong football structures. We don't have enough coaches, enough facilities, good methods of training our youth players, etc. That is why Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana have not repeated their quarter final showing since. And why Nigeria won't get to the quarter finals...till we fix the way we run football in this country. And till we properly invest in facilities and training. See Belgium...they are where they are today because in 2002..their FA changed the way they train their young and old players. And invested in training of coaches. FIFA has been fair to us. Ever since Havelange came into office. Things like World Youth Champoinships, U17, Goal project were gifts to African nations to develop their football. Gifts we spoilt with overaged and corruption. |
obinnand:Repeat the test at 1.A teaching hospital 2.An approved Voluntary Counselling and Testing Center in your town. Please. Backyard lab wey dey do backyard test with backyard result. |
nextstep:MJ had vittiligo. That is why he bleached his skin, because he would have looked stranger with blotchy skin. Option b would have been use dark makeup to hide the blotches, but that wears off when performing |
Am not surprised. Mr Jackson had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. For those that don't know what that means, he has cancer of the pancreas that has spread all over the body. Once that happens, nothing can be done. Even a diagnosis of simple pancreatic cancer carries a poor prognosis. |
debaj10:So we should dance when government does.what it is supposed to do what? |
adedayourt:So the road should remain in a state of disrepair sha? |
AreaFada2:Word. No replacement for yekini, okocha, kanu, etc... Rohr did miracle to get us that far |
countryfive:Belgium is divided, separatist parties hold political offices there, and yet they have won two games because they have strong and good football structure that is not compromised by corruption and cheating. Note that I am not saying you are wrong, just pointing out that nations in crisis do well when the structures of their institutions are strong. |
Youngsage:No, the problem is that our football structures are in a mess... Belgium is just as divided as we are...infact they even have separatist parties in the government over there (Imagine IPOB as part of the government in Nigeria as a legal party). But they have a strong football association who by changing the way they trained their youth players, and their coaches took Belgium from being useless in 2002...to strong team today. In Nigeria, we don't train our youth well, we have a bad league system, no Nigerian clubside has won a continetnal trophy in years, and we don't even have intelighent coaches. Our National team exists to paper the cracks. So long as we had players like Kanu, Yekini, Okocha, Babangida, etc....it was all good. Now, we don't have players of that caliber. We don't have a strong striker anymore. THANK GOD we lost...because France would have used us for chicken feed.... |
Subtitle....why African teams don't to well at the world cup (and it isn't because of racisim). Once again, Nigeria gets kicked out of the world cup. Truth be told...I was expecting this from the word go...the team we had was not just good enough, and our last two friendly matches gave enough room for concern. I was expecting Argentina to beat us 2-1....and I was not dissapointed. Indeed the surprise is that Argentina did not thrash us heavily....seems like the fighting in the dressing room is real.. So, why? In 1990....as a little kid, I watched as Cameroon, led by the legend Roger Milla...who was 39 years old at the time, but played like someone ten years younger, reached the quarter final of the World Cup. Everyone thought it was a new dawn for African football.. How has Cameroon done since then? Three first round exits. In 2002...Senegal was the next new kid on the block. How have they done since then....No qualification till 2018.(and now they are our last hope). In 2010, Ghana reached the quarter final...and it was a new dawn..Since then, Ghana went out in round 1 4 years later, and this cup...they are nowhere near the trophy. Nigeria....our best finish has been round 2 in 1994, 1998, and 2014 (Okay). So, why 1.In most African countries, we don't have a visible youth sturcture in place. Our football boides do not have a policy as to how we should train the next generation of footballers. Instead, we just hope that they will learn the skills they need on the street...and then get polished up in Europe or Asia., and come and win for us. 2.We had a golden opportunity in the U17 and U21 tourneys....only to mess it up by sending overaged players, who flattered to decieve...and then flopped at senior level...with disastrous consequences. 3.We have no structure in place to train our coaches, especially youth coaches. (That remids me, watch TV footage of an African coach of a league side in an African country speaking, and then watch his European counterpart. Who sounds more intelligent? And the thing is...the European has the same brain as we do...only the brain has been honed in training, training and more training). 4.Domestic football in Africa is in a shambles. Like now...when was the last time a Cameroonian, Nigerian, Senegalese, Ghanaian, even Moroccan, and Egyptian club won a title at continental or even global level? In Nigeria, most clubs are owned by state governments...which chrnonically underfund them, leading to poorly turned out players. 5.What is our purpose for playing football in Nigeria...is it to play a better game, or just to win? I think we know the answer. I conclude with the story of Belgium. In 1990, when Cameroon was in the quarters, Belgium was out by the first round. In 2002...the Belgian FA started reforming its football...by changing the way the young/youth/kids played.....with emphasis on improving passing skills....and byalso changing the way they trained their youth coaches. The result...Belgium is now a world class side. (And for those saying Nigeria failed because we are a dividied nation....Belgium is also as divided as Nigeria between French speaking and Dutch speaking Belgians. They also had no government for over 500 days ....with a caretaker government run by an Italian immigrant in place, because the vote was split between French and Dutch separatist parties) I think it is high time we changed the way we trained our youth and our coaches...and stopped focusing on winning, and started focusing on being better at football (my brother made the comment that Nigeria plays the same way they did when we both were kids in the late 80's/early 90's).....in short imporved our structures. Instead of pretending everything is ok. Same goes for other African countries. We cannot live on past glories. |
We are out. Bad football structure equals bad team |

. This is an insult. Nigeria is bigger and better . Do you even have proof that they generate this , or you just swallow their lies on this forum because of hate of the giant ?
. Why are they not enjoying power better than us ?
