Politics › Re: Nnamdi Kanu Exonerates Wike, Blame Hotels Owners For Demolition by Throwback: 7:42pm On May 12, 2020
Kanu, however, lamented that such demolition which was generating comments from all quarters had been done by the present governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai while he was still the minister of federal capital territory, and nothing happened.

“When El-Rufai was busy terrorizing and pauperising thousands of Biafran businessmen by demolishing their hotels, bars, restaurants and homes in Abuja, some of the raging hypocritical voices of righteous indignation we are hearing today were never heard.
What Nnamdi kanu will not say is that el Rufai as FCT minister went about on a mission to restore the Abuja master plan, and was only demolishing structures that violated the master plan.

It was strictly a town planning matter, for which the affected illegal land owners should even be grateful that they were not prosecuted for engaging in a crime.

It had nothing to do with Igbos as Kanu suffers from the same victim mentality we have come to associate with his fellow clansmen.

Rather, the lawful demolition by el Rufai in FCT mainly affected ex military officers, senior civil servants, politicians and corrupt civilian profiteers of the past military regimes. All of those affected cut through all tribes in Nigeria, except Kanu is accepting that some tribes are more criminal than others.

Kanu is definitely not going to stop his destructive propaganda until he has seen to it that Igbos are thoroughly hated and ruined in Nigeria, so that they have no choice but to embrace his leadership and a phantom Biafra.

Seun, this deserves to be on front page, since your moderators have a phobia for factual information.

Everyone has been fed the fable that the hotel is owned by a wanted PDP youth leader, and this radio interview with factual information revealed, is an eye opener.

Take a look at the Quarantine law he signed, check the offences and penalties.
Once an administration signed a statement into law you have to either obey or protest or relocate.
We need to stop allowing sentiment to rule our lives in this country.

When things happen let's see what the law says instead of allowing sentiment to dictate what is right or wrong.

Is it in the Quarantined order that offenders should have their properties turned to Isolation centers? If no, then you are part of the problem of this country

I think people from Eleme are actually happy about this and those of us who are not from there should not be throwing tantrums at Wike.

The case is more than Coronavirus order
It would seem so.

The more reason we have told the few blockheads who have supported Wike, that Wike cannot be the accuser, the judge, and the executioner.

We are running a democracy, and the accused must defend whatever allegations in court, before judgement can be passed.

And when judgement is passed, the punishment must follow what is already stipulated as penalty, and not some barbaric demolition that does not exist anywhere in our statutes, especially when it does not border on illegal structures.
Politics › Re: Owner Of Demolised Prodest Hotel In An Interview With Nigeria Info 92 3 FM PH by Throwback:
I watched the call-in interview.

Really smart questions from the interviewers.

So,
-Hotel is owned by Gogobari Needam, not the PDP youth leader that is wanted.
-Land was bought for N3.5m from Ngede family and occupied 2.5 plots.
-The land CofO was still under processing, with appropriate documents already filed with the relevant state ministry.
-Hotel had 21 rooms and 3 generator units.
-Hotel employed 17 staff.
-Only 3 staff were present in the location during the lockdown to secure the property from burglars. No guests were lodged in the hotel.
-The owner understands that there was "political rancour between 2 warring sides" that involved the PDP youth leader, which did not occur at his hotel or involve his hotel staff, but for which reason he believes his hotel was demolished.
-The hotel manager has been arrested and has been unreachable since the hotel was taken by the state government.
-The owner of the hotel lives in Lagos and called in from Lagos, and has been receiving advice on what next steps to take over this demolition.

These are the facts from the interview.

Just see how you revealed your hypocrisy so easily.

You can make noise over a secular business concern and yap about obedience bla bla bla, but you are already giving excuses for why Oyedepo broke the directives of the federal and state government.

Obedience is better than sacrifice
You are quoting bible verses now, e dey sweet for mouth that obidience is better.

Was Oyedepo of winners chapel obedient?

Religious fanatics like you would have raised hell if Oyedepo had been arrested for holding a church service after the lockdown and restriction of church services was already in effect in Ogun state.

However, you are yet to explain how Wike can be the accuser, the Judge, and the executioner in a democracy?

You are yet to explain how the accused lost his right to a defence in court?

Funny thing is that a yoruba governor did worse than this but as usual, people forget easily.
Was the governor condemned or not?

And what was the aftermath of such condemnation, despite that the governor did his own demolition based on town planning reasons. A reason that is justifiable anywhere in the world, but had political undertones in that Oyo case.

Did the Governor not have to rebuild the demolished structure, and did the same Governor not lose his senatorial election bid while the party lost the Governoship seat?

You are trying to use this as a defence, meanwhile you are only helping to prove that what Wike did was wrong and it will have consequences.

Or was Wike's demolition due to town planning concerns?

If the Hotel has obeyed orders no one will come for it!

Destroying the hotel is painful but when you continuously flout the rules and regulations, when you are caught you take what u see!
Religious fanatics have always been known to be the greatest tyrants.

Check through history, they existed as a persecuted sect, but once they gain the upper hand, they resort to use the same persecution on those who chose to live differently.

Your mindset is not far from what I have elaborated above.

By what law in a constitutional democarcy does an accuser gets to be the judge and the executioner, without any defence by the accused?
What is the offence and where is the penalty that was executed stipulated in the constitution of this democratic Nigeria.

I hope you will take what you see someday, and weep for justice.

Miebaka22:
look at how controversial you are, Ameachi's order is now a lawful order, after using a stadium for his campaign and when PDP(Jonathan) wants to use it for the same purpose that same stadium suddenly became under construction.

Wike sounded it clearly to everyone that there should be total shutdown of night clubs, hotels, and beer parlors. Landlord should ensure there properties are not used for the above else he'd demolish. Nigerians should learn to adhere to instructions.
Amaechi was Governor and the stadium was state property. The Governor had every right to prohibit the use of a state property, whether it was a political decision or not.

I hope Wike is now enjoying the powers of a Governor which he undermined many times when he was a federal Minister?

At least, he has realised he can give counter directives to the ones given by the federal government. I hope he will not cry the day the federal government employ the Army to overrule the directives of the state government like it happened to Rotimi Amaechi with the stadium fiasco.

I hope when that day comes, you will remember that it is only Wike's past that has caught up with him.

Are Ijaws Yorubas? No, in Ondo and Lagos they bear Yoruba names.
There is no single Ijaw village in Lagos.

The westernmost of the Ijaws can be found natively in Ondo.

I repeat, there is no single Ijaw who is native to Lagos.

I know feudalists will jump over this to justify central rule. I hope the national police is serving you well in breaking the laws and letting free movement around the country for a fee because they are not real stakeholders in security of various localities.

I rather choose to see a half full cup in the Wike saga and say that is why we should push ahead with state police but the governor's actions will lead to more study on the pitfalls, and better legislation to checkmate these kind of excesses.

Covid 19 has clearly shown a need for the decentralisation of the Nigerian state in many ways due to lack of capacity at the centre and discordant social values between federating units. The advantages of domiciling social responsibility to localities far outweighs the fear of abuse.

Anyway no one has said state police system will replace the existing federal police system. They can be complimentary as being practiced in several countries of the world. It is a matter of the constitution, law and the deliniation of power.
He is right.

We are not democratic and civil enough to start having state police.

Imagine state police in the hand of Fayose or Wike or Sani Yerima? Who will breath in such a state if the governor has not granted such luxury?

We are also too heterogenous to have states with their own police populated by the local tribe, while the state is largely cosmopolitan like Lagos, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Warri, Benin.
