@OP, it could be that your smartcard number was wrongly credited with the amount for a higher bouquet in error. For example, if you are on Family bouquet, someone mistakenly paid for say, Premium into your smartcard account. I've seen it happen before. The other possible reason which I doubt, could be that Multichoice failed to charge your smartcard. But that is highly unlikely. If that is the case, just don't complain one day you recharge and don't receive service, because you'll surely be debited. Enjoy. |
My TV has been unplugged for about 4 weeks now and I don't even feel it. On week days I watch zero hours of TV. On Saturdays, about 30 mins and on Sundays nil. It wasn't like this before because I used to watch a lot of movies. My time is now spent either reading or web-surfing. But there was a time I watched films non-stop from 3:30 am on Saturday morning till around 8 pm Sunday night. All horror movies and unfortunately the light refused to go off. I thought I was going to run mad when I woke up Monday morning. LOL. I had a headache for about 2 days. I don't think I'll ever do that again though. I've long suspected that TV dulls mental and social development. Just a thought sha. |
werepeLeri:Quit broadcasting your st.upidity. The picture proof fron Daiquiry ought to have shut you up the first time, but it is obvious that you lack the will-power or common-sense to know when to move on or restrain your diarrhoeic mouth. I wonder what gives you guys the moral right to claim things which obviously belong to other people as your own. I strongly believe you to be a Nigerian, but it is very shameful of you to persistently claim "superiority" of another country over your homeland when the facts right before you show the contrary. I won't deign you with a reply not to talk of bothering to read any of your posts. You can say whatever you like. It's your runny mouth afterall. |
Unscrupulous lawyerly shenanigans. All these depositions made by the plaintiff revolve around a hospital admission that occurred 35 yrs ago! Well it's up to the PDP candidate to prove that he does not suffer any form of mental instability. Not like I care for the PDP anyway. |
I strongly doubt if that is actually a marriage ceremony. Besides, where is the proof of the woman's age? What's the source of the story? If the OP was physically present at the alleged wedding, he can at least upload a scan of the wedding card or Programme of events bearing their picture to show that it's a marriage ceremony. If it would be anything remotely resembling marriage, then it'd most likely be the celebration of a wedding anniversary; Diamond Jubilee (or whatever comes after it). This is hardly a marriage ceremony. If it had been in the US or UK, where crazy things happen everyday, I might have believed it. Our way of life is somewhat more conservative compared to theirs. @OP, please prove me wrong. |
Rumour has it that your Obama is a confirmed Bisexual just out of the closet.

I very rarely have the appetite to take breakfast and when I do, it must have been that I was very hungry, probably from missing lunch and supper the previous day. My best breakfast if I have the time, is 3 super pack Noodles fried with plenty eggs and sardine, washed down with a jug of coffee-flavoured (not just coffee) cocoa drink. Bread on the side also. I eat big when I eat. |
texazzpete:Get your facts right. Globacom which owns the Glo 1 fibre optics installation, charges N1,400 for 1GB Blackberry data plan. I use it to play Youtube videos and music downloads. |
Why are you guys like this na? She could be a Nairalander for all these insults being heaped on her personality. A lot of all these hating posters may even be wor-worsky lala compared to her, so please reserve your criticism to yourselves and stop wasting bandwidth. Funny she seemed to get prettier the more I stared at the pics. You'll have to look harder to appreciate the true beauty. Maybe that's what the judges did. Try it let's see. |
When I first read the post and saw Emeka Anyaokwu as Chairman of their board, my first thought was: "wow! From Statesman to business-man. Interesting". But then that's the function of most non-executive directors and chairmen of boards- some to contribute their diverse experience to corporate decision-making and others to lend credibility to the board, a function which I believe Emeka's presence strongly created. On to the main issue, a few items noted in the newspaper article gave me cause for concern. I am not fully knowledgeable in these matters but is it actually possible to fully construct and commission a 55,000 bpd refinery in the space of 12 months? Yes, so much time has been spent on the pre-construction phase, I'm also aware of their office presence in Awka as far back as 2003 (when I used to be a Unizik undergrad), orders have been placed and presumably credit has been put in place for the component parts to be shipped in, why even EIA has been conducted already, but can the refinery actually be assembled and commissioned in one year? Although I'm a bit skeptical about this, I'd be very happy if they deliver on their promise. There is also another refinery of a similar scale that had been proposed to be built in Akamkpa, Cross-river state. The promoter then in an interview (2005 or thereabouts), cited discussions they'd had with refinery builders in Texas. My fingers are still crossed on that one. A second issue I observed is the OPL licences that Orient was granted as extra security to availability of crude stock. An Oil Prospecting Licence as compared to an Oil Mining Licence in a location, does not give a 100% guarantee that crude will be extracted from that location. With an OPL, the licence holder has the right to prospect for and check the availability of extractable oil deposits in quantities that is commercially-viable. Does the licence holder now have to apply for an OML before pumping out oil? I don't know. Our better-informed readers can enlighten us more. But I am aware of a dispute Gen T.Y Danjuma had when OBJ was president, in which Danjuma had been granted an OPL and after spending so much money on prospecting and oil was eventually discovered, the OML was sold to another entity because of an alleged fall-out Danjuma then had with OBJ. So the OPL listed in the article seems more like counting the roosters before the eggs have even hatched. And what did they mean by saying the oil-fields were relatively closer to the refinery site? Are there oil-fields in Anambra state? Well, that is talk for another day. All in all, let's just pray that this project comes to fruition as promised. I'm eagerly awaiting this one in particular. More private refineries are needed in the country as the fuel subsidy removal is being considered. If not for anything, at least to cushion the price shock that'll follow. And they'll still make their money in the process. |
Okonkwo in Things Fall Apart didn't die afterall O. The guy has been in the US since then as a wrestler in WWE under one funny name like that. He does visit Chinua Achebe once in a while, although Uncle Chinua would deny that. I don't know why. Eze no longer goes to school. He now lives in a school. Finished school some years back and is now a lecturer of Physical Education at UNN (maybe a fall-out from all those years of trekking to school). Akin the Drummer boy toured with Femi Kuti's band for a while before going solo. He eventually quit music and now works as a motivational speaker in Bujumbura. He even served as a consultant during the making of Fela on Broadway. What is shocking is that I heard he is no longer blind. They had used pap to glue his eyelids when he was a baby but the thing eventually washed off like 26 yrs later. He's now planning on suing his parents blind but he still hasn't seen them (pun intended) up till now. I'll still do more research on the whereabouts of the other Pry and Second school celebs sha. Will come back with more gist later. Ciao. |
Some of us on this forum have said: what's the big deal in giving or receiving with the left hand considering the fact that we are in the 21st century and such things are not given much regard where they reside abroad. When in Rome however, behave like the Romans. Abroad, things such as always using the right hand to give or receive; greeting one's elders (and I mean any elderly and not just your office superiors) as a mark of respect, etc are not even recognised because they are not part of their culture. You may want to say culture is so old school, but pls be reminded that in their place also, it is considered rude to leave your hat or sun-shades on, when entering a room; and ungentlemanly for a guy to fail to open the car door or pull back the chair at dinner-table for a lady. What am I saying? Even some "ajebota" ladies in Nigeria here make a fuss about it yet see nothing wrong in receiving with the left hand. Myopic double standard. That's what it is. Please, it is wrong and against our culture to give or receive with the left hand. If constrained to do so, make effort to show that your right hand is supporting the left in doing so. Foreigners residing in Nigeria should also take note because I'm sure you'd also take an exception to see a stranger go against the norms and etiquettes in your homeland. Our people have a saying which I'll render in English: When an abomination is continually committed, it'll eventually become tradition. Constant exposure to Western media has so accultured us to abandon our way of life and begin to adopt their's. Please there is nothing "cool" or intellectually superior in displaying that attitude. Embrace what is yours and promote it. |
Before seeing that poll, I had Odyssey in mind as my most favourite epic film and it is not even in the list. That poll should be re-written. |
I got my height and stature from my paternal grand-dad (my parents thought I'd be slightly hunch-backed like grand-dad but the thing has straightened with age), face and dark complexion from my mum, intelligence and cautious attitude partly from my mum and partly from studying and controlling myself. Humorous nature from my dad. Guess most of my genes came more from my mother than from my dad. My younger brother is the ENTIRE opposite that he's even named after my dad. Resembles him in body structure, character, even in the way he speaks. I guess that's what gene recombination does to us. |

Onila, nice work you've been doing. How about when Enyimba FC won the CAF Champions league back-to-back? |
asha 80:While the socialist moves of the governor is commendable in the light of cushioning the plight of the elderly, I wonder how it can be combined with the dire circumstances of the state's financials. Aloy/Emeka, I still want to you to respond to Asha80's question. |
Hmmm, Got me thinking. What does Olaniyi mean in Yoruba? In Igbo 'Ola' means 'it has gone', while 'niyi' means in vain. Olalaaaaniyi! Like Baba Suwe. ![]() |
seedord247:No. I want those who know so well of said project (that's if it even exists) to give me the answer. Not Google. |
Pardon my ignorance as I reside in Enugu and have just heard this news for the first time. Where in Enugu is this monorail project being undertaken? The first post is a 3D image of what it'll look like upon completion and is not the real thing. Borders on insulting one's intelligence. Meanwhile some people are already hailing the project as a done deal. Again I ask: where is this monorail being constructed? What part of Enugu please? |
Crap!! I bought my car simply because my house is far from the office. Most ladies do not even know much about cars & their models for their opinion to over-ride the guy's reason for buying the car. |
There are diff types of communication: verbal and non-verbal. Perhaps she is trying to tell you something albeit through a coprophilic means of communicating. Such benign profound intelligence. Pally listen well. You'll get the message. Money talks, bullshit (abi babeshit) walks. Shit happens. Bla bla. Whatever. Capische? |
Great minds discuss ideas, Average minds discuss events, , Minds discuss people. You fill in the blanks. |
Prof JYK:King of Torts is another book where Grisham made extravagance and avarice a funny read. Great book! Christine01:Eyaa. Try "The thing around your neck" by the same author. Your spirits should be lifted. The book is a compilation of her short stories. Some of them humorous, especially the one with the same book title. |
In between studying for my ACCA, I've just finished Abduction by Robin Cook, The Last Juror by John Grisham (my best author; never disappoints), and then Road to Omaha by Robert Ludlum for the fourth time (I was laughing all through the book. Don't know why someone said the book was boring). These I finished in the space of last week. Next in line are Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, Silence of the Lambs (Doc Hannibal 'the Cannibal' Lecter) by Thomas Harris, then whatever else catches my fancy. John Grisham preferably. |
Bestestest Song: No Love Artist: Eminem feat. Lil Wayne Genre: Rap I enjoy fast rap (Bone thugs, some Busta Rhymes, Twista and then Eminem) First time I saw "No Love", I had goose-bumps. Honestly. Now I can rap every single word off-hand. LOL I also enjoy Naija Hip Hop (videos are better), songs by Asa, Ikechukwu and Naeto C. |
nellaluv:Hahahahaha. To tell you the truth, that is the reason why I (and I think other people) find that advert funny. Not necessarily in a pervasive way, but funny cos of the way little kids dance. Although I wonder who taught the small girl to shake her bum bum that way. I'd say that is my 2nd best TV advert. No 1 currently? Hmmm, Just discovered I don't watch too much TV. But I think it should be Etisalat's Blaze advert. I also really liked that "0809ja for life" with Banky W. My worst? "Welcome to Chivita country" starring Jide Kosoko. I see it as a complete waste of money and time, with the song most times being out of tune. It's a good thing the quality of the Chi products speak for themselves. The adverts are just a waste. My best adverts of all time are those "Impossible" series by Bank PHB, especially the one about those 2 guys on the rooftop and their game of Scrabble; and that car "Harvey" or so, that could drive itself and talk to the owner, giving him stock market updates. If only companies and products are as good as their adverts claim. |
External charger for $10? I buy it at approx $2 here in Nigeria. No ooofiense! : ) |
I bought my BB mainly for the browsing experience rather than chatting and funny enough I've still been able to browse using Opera mini 6 (not the BB native browser). My only pain only comes from not being able to use the Facebook app for BB. This is faster than going thru a browser to access FB. I wonder why I've still been able to browse on BB? |
Siena, thanks for taking your time to respond to that. Some people just don't get it. |
