Law and emotions have no relationship whatsoever. Lawyers must make a living and whoever wants to be a lawyer must be prepared to kill his or her conscience so that he or she will not go hungry.
My able SAN, I feel your pain, I am an obedient but i think those you should be writing about are not the lawyers who are only trying to put food on their table by defending a conspicuous sabotage of Nigeria credible democratic process by INEC but you should address the Nigeria Judges that have sold their conscience for a morsel of bread.
I just hope we will not have a repetition of Shagari vs Awolowo where the court killed the judiciary by delivering the worst judgement YET.

IbeOkehie: Same thing I've written about this. President Tinubu has no choice because Nigeria is bankrupt. For this reason I support his removal of fuel subsidies. He also needs to float the naira. Peter Obi and AA Atiku would have had no option but to do the same.
Nigeria is bankrupt because Mr Tinubu and Mr Buhari and their APC and its allies sabotaged previous attempts to stabilize and reorient the Nigerian economy, especially with the Occupy Nigeria protests in Jan 2012. Then Nigerians affirmed the foolishness by voting for APC in the 2015 elections.
This kind of suffering should never have happened. There was a clear pathway to economic stability and prosperity paved by President Obasanjo and President Jonathan. There's CLEAR EVIDENCE that the policies were working well.
A majority of Nigerians for whatever reasons rejected their reforms and suborned the destruction of the economy by choosing socialism over free markets.
There's NO WAY to remove corruption from Nigerian government. It's IMPOSSIBLE. The best that can be done is to eliminate programs that provide opportunities for corruption.
Good Luck to Nigerians. Unfortunately, as I wrote, it is so sad that Nigerians are paying for it. |

IconicR: But what would Mr president have done within these few months? Truthfully there's hardship but there's no way out of the situation he met without going through this process. I'm so sad and I wish I could perform some magic You guys still don't get it. It was the way and manner he went about it that has caused Nigerians unbearable hardship and not the removal in itself No reasonable president announces on inauguration day that "subsidy is gone" What was written in that speech was "we will phase out subsidy" He made the second mistake by hastily unified exchange rate in a country that is solely dependent on importation. Now a dollar may soon hit N1000 and oil marketers are having a filled day. Trust me bro, Tinubu has destroyed his tenure even before it started. Policies are easy to make, laws are easy to pass, but the implementation is always the problem because if the human factor. If he adequately met with the stake holders and players in those sectors before removing subsidy as he did or unifying exchange rate, Nigerians won't be in this mess. Even Tinubu in 2012 opposed removal of subsidy in one go. And mind you, subsidy payment is not the problem BUT THE CORRUPT PRACTISES OF THE TAKE HOLDERS. So why is it ok to punish Nigerians because the Govt can't curb corruption? |

pineed: I modified so as not to cause confusion
My point is that FCT is considered as 37th state in election not a special state as people have been propagating OK lemme agree that Abuja is the 37 state. Meaning a winner must make 25% in 2/3 of 37 states. So what is 2/3 of 37 =24.6 So which state will be considered 0.6? So in essence, the constitution is clear... 2/3 of 36 states which is 24 AND ABUJA Meaning 25% in at least 24 out of the 36 states and then 25% in Abuja making at 25 states. But let's see how the court interpretes it. |

By the way, I was just studying how countries around the world tax their people. I realise that the UK should be the highest in the world.
Honestly, I hail Nigerians who live in the UK. How can someone cope in a country where you can pay income tax of about 45% coming from a country where you pay peanuts in taxes? You only pay more tax if you earn above a threshold. And even with the taxes, the country is still 100000000 times better than naija. |

zoghys: You are trying so hard to sound smart, unfortunately you ain't. When PO mentioned subsidy removal during his campaign, am sure you weren't against it because every right thinking government knows that's the way to go especially in the face of dwindling income. PBAT has taken a giant step and it takes a man of steel to do that, and sincerely am impressed so far and so are many right thinking and non tribalistic Nigerians. During Jonathan regime we had billions in our excess crude oil account, and can surely partially subsidize, but then this is 2023 and not 2012. If you had argue that we need to reduce the cost of running the government, I will have agreed with you totally, but on subsidy removal and the timing, nope you ain't right. It is one thing to read and another to comprehend. Go back and read again and this time do it slowly. Nobody is against subsidy removal even when it is the responsibility of a Govt to subsidise as it is done in many other countries... BUT IF IT MUST BE REMOVED IT SHOULD BE DONE IN PHASES. Simply English. |

The current report from statista.com shows that an estimated population of 88.4 million people in Nigeria lived in extreme poverty and this was before subsidy removal.
No amount of intervention can atone for his hasty unguided totalitarian decision of removing subsidy in one swoop.
You can never put the cart before the horse and expect progress.
It is one thing to be intelligent to rig elections and another thing to have the intelligence to lead a country.
This was Tinubu's own very words in 2012 when Jonathan wanted to remove subsidy...
"It must be on calibrated phases, on which the promised gains are measured and confirmed before moving to the next phase of removal.
Government must modify the sudden and complete removal of the subsidy. Either we restore the subsidy or use the funds for other social purposes, If we are to use the funds for other programmes, these programmes shall be placed on parallel track with the subsidy."
So what happened? did he lose his sense of reasoning ,could it be old age or was he suddenly possessed with the evil spirit of a dictator so much that what was written in that inaugural speech was ''We shall remove subsidy in phases'' But he went ahead to say ''SUBSIDY IS GONE''
You never spend one day for office, you never get meeting as the president with stake holders you Don dey announce policies of unification of exchange rate and subsidy removal... Now a dollar may soon hit N1000, many people will. Definitely lose their jobs and even those who have money can't afford a normal meal cos of increase in food prices.
I have never seen a Govt inflict so much pains on Nigerians in a very short space of time.

Saintinoo: This is not a female bashing thread, just to share my experience with some kind of human.
I have been hearing of the narcissism, and even through I believe we all have one traits of narcissism or the other, but I experienced this with my now ex girlfriend. All this while I was trying to protect and love her even after seeing so many signs of narcissism but, the more I try, the more I make her believe that I am the problem. Here are most things she does that made me believe she has a covert NPD.
1. Love bombs me today, and give me hell the next day. 2. She never apologizes, she will ghost me until I apologize for complaining about her wrong doing. 3. She gives silent treatment immediately after an argument until I apologize. 4. She gets angry so easily, she can yell at or shame me when angry and when I react, silent treatment follows. 5. When I caught her lie, even the slightest lie, she gets angry and start ghosting me till I apologizes (sort of manipulation).
These and many more I experienced from dating a female narcissist, female narcissists do not know ALFA male, just don't get into any relationship with them else they will destroy you, no matter how strong of a man you are.
She actually left when she saw that I was too sturborn for her manipulations and won't adhere to her demands, need I say that I still tried to get her back, that is how female narcissists destroys not just their man but even female friends they manage to have.
Guys ever been in a relationship with this type of woman, share you experience. Ladies who exhibit these traits usually love so deeply. Unfortunately, their men should just tolerate their narcissism |
