Jobs/Vacancies / Re: What Kind Of Job Can I Get With My Skill In Excel, Excel VBA by tolajay: 11:36pm On Dec 09, 2020
First, you need to retrain/reframe your thought that your market value is limited to Nigeria. Every career opportunity and competition is now global.

You can stay in your room in Nigeria with your boxers and work for a US/UK based company with payment in foreign currencies.

Secondly, be conversant with globally-accepted trends, tools and practice in your field.

Thirdly, check international recruitment sites; indeed.com and co and apply for data analysis/science related roles.

Best!

Oga, you go like wahala pass trouble ooo.

In your defense, person just correct you, you still dey act incorrigible.

No be that same "worthless" paper give you access to the UK and your acclaimed vast travels.

Oga, you can't be more British than a Briton. You're still a Nigerian.

If the passport and invariably the country is "worthless", why not renounce your citizenship?

With such mindset on a large scale, Nigeria would have a longer route to progress. This is part of the mental revolution we need.

TheGuyFromHR:

As a corporate entity, Nigeria is, sadly, almost worthless.
And when I say sadly, I mean that, for I deeply regret the greatness it could have had and now will never have.
I was born in Lagos, am from the east, schooled across the major regions, ended up in a cross-ethnic marriage and have generally had the opportunity to travel and spend time across the country and the sub-region both for work and leisure and my conclusion is that this entity, as is, is unworkable, and generally worthless to its peoples.

I don't necessarily blame Buhari for this, he's just one in a long line of sub-par leaders who presided over our undershooting of our great - and yes, manifest - destiny. Arguably among the worst, but just one.
(Or two, if you count both his outings against him).

Not absolutely!

Nigeria is an importing nation. Basic things are imported with dollar.

So even if we earn more dollar, it'll still be spent on importation.

Mind you, FG has a lot of loans to pay in dollars hence the depletion of the Excess Crude Account.

With the proposed sales of gold and Dangote refinery et Al, not much would change in Nigeria's FX market except other basic goods are produced locally.

Standing5:
The problem is lack of forex.
Lack of forex is caused by unwillingness to trade other resources like gold, bitumen, iranium for the dollar as oil is being traded.
If zamfara and co should release their gold and it is sold like oil, there will be plenty dollar to go round and it will crash to even N100 or N50 a dollar.

I'm not sure there's any need to send your transcript in the new NMC process.

Read backwards on the thread. I guess a similar question was asked and answered with relevant insight.

Quite unfortunate!

There's no value for life in Nigeria. Normality is absurd in Nigeria.

Personal and corporate greed is ingrained in every act regardless of the impact on others and the nation at large.

We can't build a nation on greed and graft.

A revolution of personal and corporate values is needed in Nigeria.

Count your blessings that he didn’t need hospital treatment in Nigeria. There are no controls on the food that the public consumes in Nigeria. The food is killing people in Nigeria but ignorance and poverty have blinded them. I remember during the launch of my bakery I tried to do some health awareness to some locals in Lagos. I refused to use any chemicals in my bread as a result it was a little yellow/ cream colour inside, if I wanted it to be veery white all I had to do was add bromate sulphate this will also help the dough to double in size, this is dangerous to the body cell after continuous use. One of the local suppliers told me that her customers preferred the one that is whiter inside and that’s what she will buy to sell. I told her I would rather shut down my bakery. They always claim that they have been eating it for long and they are okay? But are they ? When they fall sick and don’t know the cause, they blame the innocent villagers.
The plantain and fruit you buy in the market, are laced with carbide to ripen them and make the skin have a nice look. Water melon is injected with food colouring. Beans is loaded with insecticide to get rid of weevils etc, I could go on and on. Nigerians are used to people dying around them, most of the deaths are unexplained because it’s never investigated.

Thanks for the insight.

I really can't see myself getting into that London madness; expensive, ever-busy lifestyle.

A friend, currently in the UK, suggested Northern Island cos she's there as well.

Scotland, I hear is a great place too but for the accent.

I'll continue my research.

monfizzy:

Ok then. If looking for an affordable place avoid London by all means then as it’s quite pricey here. And I’ll suggest that where possible don’t settle for Birmingham and Manchester as well if you’re considering settling in England. Any city in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland shouldn’t be much expensive either.

Not quite, just a mere recognition of the general clean lifestyle in the UK.

My question was premised on my interest to relocate with my partner, pretty soon.

We're considering a good and affordable location to settle in and raise a family.

NB: Lead applicant works in the healthcare sector.

monfizzy:

If your question is based on the clean streets then it doesn’t really matter the location. Everywhere in Britain is developed and there’s really no difference between the big or small cities or the four nations that make up the U.K. Same infrastructure standard, services and quality of life. Only job opportunities varies according to the metropolitan structure of a city.

You all have responded without a thorough comprehension of my postulation.

Read again and point out my direct dismissal of possible spiritual intervention in the said act. I have only offered another likely perspective to the issue.

You certainly would agree with me that we are such a religious people and the first thing that would come to many minds would that the accident was an act of divinity leaving no room for human error.

See! I'm not here to prove spirituality intelligence or realistic consciousness with anyone, but just to say that life is a blend of spirituality and reality.

Africans cannot continually abandon their human responsibility to divinity and expect results, that'll be stupidity.

As much as I don't attach spirituality to it, what makes you think it's not spiritual? What even makes you think that for the fact that you are saying it's not spiritual means you are fulfilling a set out rule? What makes you think the car has being not being overheating all these while because it was specifically designed to carry this corpse all along so that the physical world will not be able to attach spirituality to it?

I blv in not everything is spiritual. In fact most things are not spiritual. But I I see someone like you with highly limited and one sided knowledge trying to throw away the other part I laugh.

This would seem spiritual for many Nigerians while neglecting the possibilities of a human failure causing this.

The car might have a history of overheating. The driver could have known that something was wrong with the car but overlooked it. These and many others are some human errors that could have caused the unfortunate situation.

In all, I'm just saying it might not have been an act of divinity or metaphysical mystery but a result of human neglect.

Education / Nigeria May Lose Another Generation Of Girls - Malala Fund by tolajay: 11:04pm On Nov 21, 2020
Malala Fund Education Champions Network in Nigeria has launched a report, Girls’ Education and COVID-19 in Nigeria, revealing new data that girls in Nigeria faced distinct gendered impacts during the pandemic, with over 50% of girls receiving no help to continue education during school closures.

The report — which analyses survey data collected from 2,253 respondents in Kaduna state — documents a widening gap for girls’ learning access during the COVID-19 lockdown. Girls surveyed in Kaduna state experienced less access to learning resources, increased domestic burdens and a lack of academic support from their families.

The report states that the government's distance learning programme did not reach all students: just 10% of girls and 24% of boys accessed distance learning offered via television, and only 18% of children used radio for study and 2% used mobiles. The data provides a sample data set emblematic of educational disparities across Nigeria during the lockdown.

The data also shows that while mothers supported boys and girls almost equally, fathers were 36% more likely to assist their sons’ learning than their daughters’. In general, boys were more than twice as likely to have access to a private tutor during the pandemic.

“Before the pandemic, an estimated 13.2 million children were out of school. School closures have forced an additional 36 million enrolled students out of school. COVID-19 pandemic is exasperating the girls’ education crisis in Nigeria. If leaders don’t act now, we risk losing another generation of girls,” says Crystal Ikanih-Musa, In-country representative at Malala Fund.

Additionally, the report reveals how the economic impact of COVID-19 is affecting families and therefore girls’ education, with over 80% of adults facing financial difficulties.

“I have spoken to many families in different communities during the lockdown. My interactions reveal that financial constraints will be a major factor in the decision to re-enrol girls in school due to dwindling income,” says Benjamin John, Malala Fund Education Champion and Programs Manager at Restoration of Hope Initiative.

Furthermore, the report documents insufficient government guidance on how to ensure that girls in lower socio-economic and conflict-affected states will re-enrol in school when the pandemic is over.

With schools reopened across Nigeria, the report calls on state and federal government officials to ensure safe, gender-responsive reopening plans across the country.

The report calls on the Nigerian government to:

● Provide gender-equitable and inclusive distance learning to support all students through current and future school closures;
● Ensuring safe and gender-responsive school reopenings as soon as possible;
● Mitigate economic effects of the COVID-19 crisis to help families prioritise education;
● Protect progress for girls’ education and rebuild the education system with gender at the centre to promote inclusive growth and ensure every girl can learn.

If she can, let her apply for the renewal.

Not essentially because of the UK processing but for some other unforeseen reasons.

Thank you.

Everyone needs some dose of motivation to proceed through life.

Success comes by pushing against every known and unknown odds/challenges.

All you've done is to give excuses not to progress.

Quit excusing failures and move against challenges.

Tech is critically important in breaking the circle of poverty in Africa.

Young Africans must invest time and resources to learn in-demand and futuristic skills to elevate their economic prowess and the continent's wellbeing.

Enough of the rhetorics around government's failures and let's begin to take personal responsibility for success or otherwise.
