It depends on the circumstance, in a good marriage the husband or wife should tell their spouse. However i've seen men who are so irresponsible and if they know their wife has money they will make sure they collect it and spend it on girls and booze. If she doesn't give him the money he'll start going around telling people how she's now arrogant because she has money and blah blah. Also some men have ego problems you'll be hearing how can she build a house before me, she's supposed to give me the money then i'll build the house for the family, when she's not a mumu People do what's best for their situation.

Can you imagine "they should work on building his own first since he's the head" If he's the head let him go and make money to build his own. So when a woman works hard and makes money she should not build a house because her husband hasn't or she should give him her own money to build his when she's not daft. I know of a couple where the man comes home from work by 5pm while the wife returns by 8pm. And yet he will still sit down on his behind and wait for his wife to come home to start cooking and cleaning and washing. He doesn't life a single finger to help. That is a plain lazy man. You will agree though that a lot of women use this gender equality drive for thier own benefit. There are those who will purse the gender equality agenda as long as it benefits them. Honestly I havent seen women push for more female mechanics or more female labourers or that a man can be rescued in preference to a woman in danger situations e.g a sinking ship.

Of course most human beings will use anything for their own good just like the men who have no problem with women taking on "traditional" male roles like paying bills in the family, then you'll be hearing couples are meant to help each other but they will remember tradition when it comes to them helping the woman out on the home front. The whole point of gender equality is the women who want to labourers or mechanics should be allowed to, i've seen more female mechanics now than ever. It's about parents and the society not discouraging female kids from certain jobs and only pushing them towards marriage.

that's not all women, not all women believe in gender equality just like not all men do. I personally would never say such a thing and neither will the women i know. we want equality in every area. Those women you are talking about are still stuck in the traditional frame of mind while trying to adapt. We advocate for gender equality in the military and every industry and that is why today we have more women in industries that before were considered as male industries.

plus when you are talking about people speaking out of both sides of their mouth its the same with many Nigerian men. They want their wives to go to work for the same hours as them and share the bills at home but when you talk about house chores and taking care of the kids then you'll hear those are women's roles. So both of you will go to work for the same hours , sit in the same traffic and share the bills but she's expected to come home and still cook and deal with the kids alone and then you'll call her the weaker sex when she's doing double what you are

men are not superior to women. Gender equality is about equal opportunities and equal rights and we should stop bringing in religion when are are talking about laws. If we want to be talking about religions then lets go all the way and not pick and choose what suits us. I'am sure in your years of education you've come across women who are smarter than you and i'am sure there are women are are physically stronger than you. Gender equality is about giving opportunities to who ever is best, you can choose to practice whatever you want in your relationships that's prerogative as long as you can find a spouse who reasons like you . But in the general society (work place, schools e.t.c )you should put that aside.We are talking about things like women should be able to inherit property just like their brothers, landlords should only be interested in paying ability (income) not your sex or marital status. Passport office should not be asking a woman to get a letter of consent from her husband when no man will be required to provide such. As an adult a woman should be able to get a passport on her own merit, its only when children are concerned that the consent of both parents should be needed.

I would never confront the woman , as long as she's not a close friend or relative she owes me no loyalty. The one who owes me loyalty is my husband who took an oath with me in front of God and man. One can have both with a supportive husband who is not intimidated by a successful woman and that is the key. The Op is already doing well at a multinational company so clearly her career means much to her and she will keep getting wealthier. Women like Okonjo were able to get to this level because they didn't tie themselves to intimidated men. No point getting unevenly yoked, let her get a man that sees her with her car and a already knows her worth. There are many single women with no car, it has nothing to do with car. This Op has been single for the past 3 years despite not having a car

People are being to hard in the Op and I think that's because of how she started with not wanting her husband to pick up the girl. Clearly you may have been raised differently from the girl which is why to you picking up an 18 yr old is over pampering whereas to some families it's not. That's the thing about marriage we are from different backgrounds, the girl may be coming from a home where to her a guest does not go into the kitchen and start cooking.

You have a point that with your own family it'll be easy to say what you like and what you don't but with inlaws you will have to tiptoe around things. If you are cooking add hers, if you are not don't cook because of her. She's an adult and when she's really hungry she'll sort herself out, I think the best thing with in laws is not to stop them from visiting but rather keep visits short. For both side of the family sef, it's easy to ignore people's short comings when you know it's for a few days versus when it's for months and the rule should be if you ever need to tell someone off for bad behavior each person should handle their own family. It always easier that way also remember like someone said even in a family everyone is different so don't like that girls attitude cloud your view of the whole family.

Any man who will be intimidated about you having a car will still be intimidated about you owning lands and such. That means for the rest of your life with such a man you will always have to live under the standard that you can actually afford just so he won't feel intimidated. If you don't buy the car now and you marry then later it will become you can't buy a bigger car than your husband you can't own more lands than your husband and so on . We should aim to get the government to make a blanket policy to cover emergency cases so such things won't happen again. Right now things are left at the discretion of the medical personnel and you know some will be wicked while some will be nice so we need a policy to compel even the wicked ones to do the right thing. I think the Op is a nice man just that he wasn't bold enough to stand for what he knows is right,lets just encourage him to stand for what's right next time even if he's job is in danger
