@afeni,
not sure what u are trying to say.

anyway, what do u expect from the NASS. there's bound to be division. however the real problem begins when this issue is over. whoever wins. if obj wins his 3rd term, how will he handle those who opposed it. if the opponents win, how will obj accept defeat.

it is the cleanest city
it has low crime rate
things are relatively cheap there
traffic is smooth(i lived there for 8yrs and i saw hold up only 2ice, during unical matriculation day)
the people are social
it's got history
the girls are "sweet and welcoming"
it's a coastal city
it is the best.

@prophet,
i don't always see only negative things about my country. i was glad when the debt payment was completed(4 paris club). nigeria remains one of the friendliest countries in the world(the british are very polite, but i'm not sure they are friendly). nigeria has the best food in the world. we have the most beautiful women on earth(yes, i mean it. these white girls are so funny). we have a beautiful land(save for the niger delta that has been destroyed by negligence.hopefully something will be done about it). we have no earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes etc.
we are blessed. the only problem we have is bad government.
that is man made. we can change it. i'm not too negative though, but i must be realistic, the way we are going ,it may take centuries to get us to some reasonable place.
Politics › Re: Why Do You Behave Like You Hate Nigeria So Much? by toshmann(m): 3:50pm On May 01, 2006
i guess prophet's thread is in the right place. this is because in our country, politics can hardly be separated from religion and vice versa. at least 3ice in our recent history, the heads of state has "waited on God" to take vital national decisions. our politicians play God daily in public affairs. churches are involved politically, clergymen have been elected governors three times, a pastor wants to be president etc. so our socio-political culture is -fortunately or unfortunately-intertwined with religion.
so if occasionally religious spices enter political threads then we should understand. i'm sure that political spices enter religious thread too(i have to check that out since i'm not a regular visitor to religious threads)
more importantly, we should try to be polite on nairaland. this is one forum where we feel at home though we are in diaspora and we should make it hoely and fertile for all nigerians. we can disagree, but we should be civilised about it.
thank you

@ijele,

u see it is a wonderful thing to forgive, but then the problem is the marriage would loose meaning.i will forgive.but the marriage is dead. b/c i cant forget. and i'll be under intense torture. mental torture. it's better we don't live together again b/c she'll be a constant reminder of the infidelity. i cant stand it. and i'll tell whoever i'll marry that any infedelity=end of marriage. it doesn't mean i didn't forgive. it only means i couldn't go on.sure i'll loose if there's a divorce, but i will have a better frame of mind. staying back may make me insane.

God please help me! i'm scared of marriage now huh i never thought of that possibility. Gawd! shocked

Foreign Affairs › Re: John Prescot Scandal: How Africa? by toshmann(m): 10:57am On Apr 29, 2006
@kolawale,

pls do not think i'm in support of prescott. i'm not. can never. i only used this scenario to highlight some salient differences in the socio-political structure of U.K and Nigeria.

prescott should be ashamed of himself. and i guess he is. but if it were in nigeria, a minister in similar situation MAY not be ashamed of himself(especially if he is in the good books of the president) but may even be going about calling those who want him out "enemies of God" and using God's name at random as nigerian politicians are wont to do.
Foreign Affairs › Re: John Prescot Scandal: How Africa? by toshmann(m): 11:54pm On Apr 28, 2006
this shows that the U.K is a politically decent society. where the elected officials are extra sensitive to the feelings of the public, contrasting embarrasingly with nigeria which has so deteriorated that it is no longer hidden for public officials to hang out with young girls and the public makes no fuss over it.

in another way, this shows that the british are also human(not infallible),instead of us to make unnecessary statements about mr prescott, we should focus on the fact that we can achieve whatever the british have achieved,unless we are less than human.

which of our ministers have faced this kind of pressure due to a scandal. that a minister was purported to have diverted money supposed to be used for road construction,even the president said so himself, yet nothing happens to the minister(or ex-minister)is an indication of the unbielievable decdence in accountability in our country.what could be more scandalous than that?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal In The Final! by toshmann(m): 8:34pm On Apr 28, 2006
@all,
ponder, last year, liverpool(my darling team) finished 5th in the league,behind bitter neighbouring rivals,everton who finished 4th. liverpool had earlier lost a valuable player(owen) reducing the average strenght of the team, yet liverpool, unexpectedly went ahead to beat juve and chelsea b4 slamming milan in the glorious instanbul debacle.

this yr, arsenal is ,for now, 5th in the league, behind bitter neighbouring rivals, tottenham,who are 4th. arsenal lost a valuable pleyer(vieirra) and has unexpectedly beaten juve and real madrid. hmmmmn, i see history repeating itself.

i predicted that the only team that can stop arsenal is a.c milan, now that milan is out, i guess that technically,my prediction is that the gunners will shoot their way to the trophy.

who wants to bet? wink

forgive? honestly i wish i could. i may try to, but i don't think i'll succeed in forgiving. that scenario will hunt me for life. i have a soft heart and it will get shattered by that scene. trust? never again. then the question is this: what is a marriage without trust? so ,for the sake of my health,i'll go my way. tell me, when u see her with this guy red handed, can u really assure urself that she hasn't been doing it all the while?may be with different guys even.can u?

marriage aint easy o. especially for guys. just pray that God gives u a wife that sticks to u. and guys ,we also have a duty to stick to our wives. as for forgiving her,i'll forgive,but i cant forget, and b/c i cant forget, the pain remains there and the marriage is wrecked forever.

solution: NO CHEATING!!!!!!!!!!!! angry

i remember the good old days when we used to long for a weekend to go to the stadium to watch the league. then if rangers are to play nationale it's like england vs france. owerri will be flooded with thousands of fans from all over the east just to watch the match. that was then.

now, i dont even know the name of the teams in the league. the last time i went to the stadium to watch nationale vs shooting, it was like watching a village match being played in an empty stadium. that was 2004.

well, let's hope for the better

i'm a die hard liverpool fan. but i'm happy for arsenal. as it is now, i predict that if barca win milan, then arsenal will carry the cup b/c only a.c milan can stop arsenal. if barca should face arsenal in the final, arsenal will frustrate the catalans. barca cant beat the gunners.

this is difficult to believe ,but watch and see.

meanwhile, viva gunners.( chelsea must be wondering why they cant win this stuff with all their money? lol)

chelsea paid £21m for wright-philips to come and sit on the bench.lol. ronaldinho did not cost barca up to that amt.
give liverpool and rafa the kind of money chelsea has and we'll win even the world cup in germany cheesy cheesy cheesy with a football club. grin

but give it to chelsea, they win only premier league and make the most noise. well don't blame them too much, it's been long they tasted a trophy

You have beaten us twice in 9 or 10 games.
You beat us with a "ghost" goal in last seasons champions league.
You beat us handsomely yesterday.

1) We beat you twice( both home and away) in last season's premiership;
2) We beaten you twice (both homeand away) in this year's premiership
In One of them, we beat you by 4 goals to 1 (your worst defeat in Anfield for 36 years)

We were 30 points ahead of you last season and 15 points ahead of you this season#
u can say what u want, but if u want to compare liverpool with chelsea ,may i remind u that liverpool has won the champios league 5 times and chelsea is yet to get to the final. the reds have won the english league more than any other team.chelsea managed to win it for the 2nd time after winning it 50 yr ago and thanx to abramovich. what liverpool does every now and then, chelsea took 50yrs and russian intervention to do. our trophy room is loaded. i guess chelsea just started to build a trophy room(and hope they will load it soon)

THERE IS NO COMPARISON BTW THE REDS AND THE BOYS FROM WEST LONDON.

sorry mate try another year
Politics › Re: Nigeria Out Of Paris Debt by toshmann(m): 11:22pm On Apr 23, 2006
guys, whatever u may say, this is something positive. if u've been following my contribution in nairaland u'll agree that i'm not an obj fan, but let us agree on something good that has happened. at least in the near future we wont be spending money to pay creditors, then that money we have ipso facto saved can be put into use for something else that can benefit the proverbial common man.

i'm not an economist so i dunno the nitty gritty of the benefits but surely there will be benefits if our leaders can put the benefits into proper use,then it will get to the popular common man.

look, we may dislike the 3rd term, obj administration etc but let us not be personal about it. looks like some people see obj as devil to be destroyed ,who has nothing gud to offer, but let us be objective, a huge debt borrowed by previous administrations have been cleared making nigeria the 1st african country to clear it's debt.

let us smile at least for one minute.

that is exactly what will happen to all those shouting 3rd term now for obj.especially those criminal governors who are interested in their selfish ambitions. if the 3rd term sails thru, i trust obj, he'll deal with them. he'll get that immunity removed somehow and swallow those idiots. i trust obj on that. lol

as for omisore, i dunno if he is in abuja or still in prison.if he is in abuja, then prison may not be far away from him now. lol
