Christianity Etc › Re: Pre-Marital Sex Is Not Fornication by tpiah: 6:40am On May 06, 2009
catalyst23:
This is different from pre marital sex.

My point is, if you are committed to be married to someone, then having sex with that person does not mean you are a fornicator.

Although I do not condone sex with multiple partners, sex with your boyfriend or fiancee is fine, as long as you are both committed to each other and monogamous.

The floor is now open.
well, I dont know about that.

You can have the sex but it doesnt mean you cant be branded a fornicator. Or that you arent a fornicator.

Most people could care less, that's all.

Winnergal, are you AA ? huh

I just realized I've been assuming you're Nigerian when you might actually be AA.

The guy probably has an American mum, that's all. His hometown is listed as Ekiti on wikipedia, but I dont know if they'll recognise him should he suddenly show up there without prior notice grin

It depends on which church you're referring to.

personally, I like DC Talk which is a gospel hiphop/rap band.

Another of my favorites, Newsboys, also raps on occasion.

fisician I am wondering were you got the info about exercising including weights. I have always assumed that it is a no no for a woman to do any exercise that she did not do before she got pregnant. Correct me if I am wrong?? I am just asking cause it would be dangerous for a woman who did little or no exercise before pregnancy to now start doing 3 days of aerobics including weights when she is pregnant. I think your tips are great for women who are not pregnant or for people who were very active before pregnancy

PipLord I agree especially with the pillow between your legs part. I started physical therapy for my back when I was around 4 months pregnant with my 2nd. All the exercises I was told to do involved arching my back in one way or the other and always sleeping with a pillow between my legs. Good tips.
good points.

Are you referring to like bookstores in Balogun market, or something like that? They usually don't carry new foreign novels. Eg Stephen King, Grisham, Jackie Collins. Even if they do, it is the pirated copies or old second-hand editions.

I'm in Lagos.
If you're looking for new releases, you may have to be prepared to shell out more and shop in the high end areas of town eg Lagos Island, MMA bookstores, etc. Dont know if Silverbird has a bookstore. Some of the shopping malls might have the books you're looking for.

I thought you were living in one of those small towns which normally have a few major bookstores that are well stocked.

Did you check Surulere and Yaba? Also, Unilag bookstore.

the guy isnt that fine.

The typical AA has a different expression from Africans. Its not just about the look/facial structure alone.

More so with all the mentioned ingredients for a small port of soup ,your husband will quickly send you parking. again with all this mentioned ingredients, any body can do better than what you have just shown so you have 30/100 .
in case your post was directed at me, its a dictionary, lady wink Reference book if you will.

The most expensive coffee in the world comes from civet poop

Kopi Luwak are coffee beans that come from Civet (a cat sized mammal) poo. The animals gorge on only the finest ripe berries, and excrete the partially-digested beans, which are then harvested for sale. Kopi Luwak is the most expensive coffee in the world, selling for between $120 and $600 USD per pound, and is sold mainly in Japan and United States, but it is increasingly becoming available elsewhere

I watched a documentary on this. Interesting!

Thanks, Tpiah. So where do we go to buy novels in Nigeria? Do you have a good recommendation?
you're welcome.

It depends on where you live. Most towns should have a standard bookstore, I think.

Where are you?
Family › Re: The Obama-clinton-brangelina Family Tree by tpiah: 12:32am On May 06, 2009
I read a magazine article today about some people finding out they were related through DNA testing.

They dont understand how, why or where they're linked but just "know" they have some DNA matches from somewhere.

Should this kind of thing be considered a "real" extended family relationship? huh I dont think so. Its too vague, and its not like people are trying to find their missing dads or something.

Are You My Cousin?

How the new DNA technology can solve mysteries in your family tree… and help you discover relatives you never knew you had

I started hearing sensational stories about DNA tests: Norwegians who discovered they were really Chinese, for example.

I recently received an e-mail from a cousin of mine out on Long Island—we’ll call him Harry—who was writing to invite me to a family reunion. It was an offer I couldn’t resist, even though, as family reunions go, this one is a bit unusual. For one thing, Harry and I have never met. I didn’t even know he existed before he e-mailed me. In fact, though I know for certain that he and I are related, I don’t know exactly how. Neither does he. For that matter, the entire family gathering is composed of people who know we are related, but little else. The guest list isn’t set—actually, it’s growing all the time—but that’s okay, because we don’t have to rent a space, or figure out how much potato salad to make. This reunion, you see, is happening online. It’s virtual. And perpetual.

Welcome to the astonishing, edifying, and sometimes perplexing world of tracing your roots using DNA.

You peope, You people, you just make me sick. I am not suprised at the toxic reaction i am getting from some of you because the truth burns like H2SO4 AKA acid. I have been reading all the threads about Soludo, Akunyili and iweala on this forum and all i hear for the most part is Crucify them Crucify them,  But the truth is that they have gained so much attention because they have achieved what most have not in the past, they are IGBOS and people feel they have an IGBO agenda and not Nigerian which is totally untrue, they bring sanity to their respective political offices and they are doing a good job. Nobody is talking about the Blackmail Soludo has been getting and weathering since this year just because somebody from the North wants to occupy his position. How many times have we discussed intensively and extensively other appointed Ministers and offices in this forum that does not bear an IGBO name in front of it?? So if all some of you want to do is just talk then do it with substance. Disprove my argument and stop making a jest of yourselves.
hmmm, you for get point except that you were nowhere to be found when Richyblack, an Igbo, was crucifying and attacking Iweala, an alleged Igbo.

So I dont know if you read all the threads like you say. Unless Iweala is the sacrificial lamb on this list?

hilli666:
FYI Pidgin English, was born when early Africans or slaves tried to communicate with their colonial masters. It is a mix of different influences, but leans more to the colonial British English or Victorian English. upon close inspectin you'll be amazed how proper and accurate some of the words are compared to English in the dictionary. E.G Palaver (palava), Pickin (what the white us to refer to as negro children) vex (anger or temperance) etc pick any word in pidgin and check it out on the dictionary ull be amazed at how proper pidgin is. Others were just shortend words like "comot" derived from come out e.t.c
also born out of trade vis a vis early European contact.
