am I missing something or what kind of food are they eating for N1 million?

No be jollof rice them dey serve for wedding abi Naijas don dey chop caviar? huh

Drinks for 1 million?

total number of guests is 150 people. Lets assume another 100- 200 will gatecrash making say 350. (especially if the wedding is held in the village).

I wish my mom were here so I can ask her to give me an estimate of how much food would be needed to feed 350 people.

anyway, considering the cows that have to be slaughtered, I guess upwards of half a million may be necessary.

lets say 3 cows for about N300,000. Plus maybe 10 goats @ up to 100,000? huh

just guessing.

Reception venue could be cheaper if it's outside Lagos, PH or any of the big cities.

and if you're doing plate per head, 150 times say N3000 per plate is still N450,000, conservative estimate.

go save ur dough till ur wife comes into ur house
go to the Reg to sign and then take pics.
You dont have to do any jamboree if u dont have the dough
I have nothing against registry marriages (in fact I prefer them), but not everyone wants that.

Some people are very family/socially oriented and like large weddings with everyone in attendance.

Catering bill and reception - outdoor or indoor?

Bride and Groom wedding outfits+ rings+ change of clothes

Set up, decorations, venue and seating if you're not using wedding planner

Very important: choice of photographer

Wedding bands/dj/music

start from there with your estimates.

Huxley, this is very misleading. am I surprised

Mormonism is quite different from what you're trying to imply with this thread. You're not talking about mainstream Christianity or Jesus, plz.

yes, strict Mormons can excommunicate people/relatives who leave the faith, and for many who were raised, the experience of adapting to the "outside" world isnt easy.

As soon as I read the first paragraph I know the story was a Mormon one

Michael had to make a choice:  He could stay in his parents' home only if he refrained from "spiritual pornography," meaning any media that were critical of faith.  He could stay there only if he kept his doubts muted and invisible.  Michael said he couldn't do that and moved out.  His mother said it would have been better had he died.  His father banned Michael from seeing beloved younger siblings without supervision.  (Apparently spiritual pornography can lead to spiritual pedophilia?) Loneliness and despair took him to the brink of suicide.
spiritual pornography means checking out other beliefs outside Mormonism.

survival instinct or servile compliant instinct?

it's impossible to compare suicide rates when there is little to no data collection in African countries. Blacks are less likely to talk about their mental troubles than whites. We would rather die on the inside than speak to a psychiatrist.

these two ladies should have gotten some help.
dont know if you and kobojunkie are now claiming its mainly in Africa that people commit suicude and such is an extremely rare occurence outside the continent? huh

I'll say you're not being fair to me.Obongproff among other things wrote about dbanj and the others and asked can you guys say something about this. This was what I replied to and most of what I wrote were bible quotes, not mine opinions.I didn't mention hiphop or 'contemporary christian music' or slow or fast. What I said was spiritual songs.if you're feeling hiphop was judged, maybe God is simply telling something.Children of God are heaven minded people, their mind and affection are set on things above, not on things on earth.
BTW,make a joyful noise doesn't compulsorily have to be hiphop or ragga,it could still be a 'slow boring Don Moenic' joyful noise
well, I posted some songs that have greatly touched me in the past. And still do. Just like hymns, slow songs, traditional ones, and other forms of music have also touched me at various times.

Banning a whole generation from certain things which are seen as "worldly" or "not heavenly", often doesnt really make them more spiritual- just more religious or maybe more conforming to a certain norm.

Hiphop has been used to spread all kinds of messages- Christian hiphop was actually slow to join the bandwagon. The first song I posted on that list was a Christian hiphop/rap song about hope and new beginnings. Someone can listen to that when they wouldnt be caught dead near a hymn singing church.

anyway, God works in all kinds of ways.

The psalms mention different instruments, and music types.

Nairaland General › Re: ~Do NEVER-Angry People Really Exist . . .?~ by tpiah: 7:57pm On May 06, 2009
the problem is when such people do get angry, they tend to overreact or else since no one is used to seeing them lose their temper, people take it in a very bad way. ie respond to them more harshly.

imo.

you know what they say about the higher you go the harder you fall.

What I find irritating is when they overlook obvious aggravation and then start blowing up at something insignificant.

sexybabes:
Let me take down to my story. I was also dating a yoruba guy. We were staying in different cities that made it a
long distance r/s. We used to see each other every month or two. I had a gut feeling telling me that he was doing
something but no proof. And I used to convince myself that maybe I was being paranoid coz he always wanted me to
come visit him and when I do I would stay with him for maybe 3-4 weeks when I'm on holiday at school. And I never
saw any girl in his house or any proof that there is a lady who maybe come & visit(not even a hair pin). The guy wasn't
even scared of being caught, he was taking me every where he was going to when I was with him.

To cut a long story short. We were very close even though we stayed far from each other and I was close to everybody
he was close to(like his siblings and friends) and obviously they knew what he was doing but decided to mind their own
businesses.
speaking as someone in the 'know', staying with your guy during school vacations is always a risk. More often than not you'll get the exact scenario you outlined here. The other women and all.

I feel your pain however. Its always a shock to find out what went on.

God help us!!

Actually christian songs are supposed to be spiritual. This is because children of God are spiritual people. They do not please the flesh/carnal man or give occasion to the flesh. They try to LIVE in the Spirit and walk in the Spirit, not according to the course of this world Ephesians2v2. Spiritual songs minister more to the spirit/than the body.'unspiritual' songs please the flesh more. Of course we have different kinds of spiritual,so stick to godly spiritual as you should know that christians are not the only spiritual people.
Colossians3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
His commandments are not grievous.
so what's not spiritual about contemporary Christian music? huh Please explain.

How do you explain the psalms which say make a joyful noise unto the lord? huh
