franchasng:I'm not sure of this particular one but I'm sure of the cutoff marks into Federal Unity schools and it is something very similar to this one. |
naijacentric:Well, after the results and everybody saw the proof (of the mother-tongue as a language of instruction), it was included in the policy to teach primary and secondary school srudents using their mother tongue but no one is using it and the FG is not serious about implementing it. Secondly, they stopped production of textbooks in the local language as it was used during the experiment. They initially made textbooks like Biology, Mathematics etc in Yoruba for that experiment. Nigeria already know what to develop when we are ready. But for now, we are not really ready. |
If I have anything serious to do there, why not? Have we stop going to the US because of public shooting? |
Mynd44:It's not even about UN report alone. Babs Fafunwa conducted an experiment at OAU in the 80s teaching students subjects in Yoruba language. At the end of six years, they were better than their peers who were taught using English as medium of instruction. We just need to loom inwards. English is only useful in a wider communication level but at the bottom of knowledge, the mother-tongue is the best. |
TheFacelessMan:They'll still try to be. Myopic attitudes forgetting that white men rape people as much as blacks also rape. I just tire for tribalism. |
Jyde89:Once colonization infects the mind, it will take many generations and devemopment to root it out. So if the black man will forget all about colonial mentality, he must be constantly developing for at least 4 consecutive generations. |
hammerVJ:Same as Omoyele. See oga, either you win or I lose the argument is not the point. Your account balance and mine won't change because of that but Nigerian tribes has suffered so much together yet they keep up dividing themselves when the air smells the same every where in the country. |
Firstly I'm not ready to invest emotions, money and time on any lady I'm not ready to marry so it's better I stand alone for now. Secondly, man must Kickstart his career before getting into deep problems associated with relationship stuffs. I cannot comman waste my purpose on top wan lady somewhere. Until those two are settled, Imma gonna remain a spectator in the sport of relationship. |
hammerVJ:Definitely Olusegun is not even Yoruba name. Oga let's use all these digging to better our country. You're not gonna make any difference with all these. |
We still have alk this divisions in our land yet we are crucifying the South Africans for xenophobia. How are we in any way bettee than them? This life is not difficult to live in. Wherever you find yourself, just live and let live. No one's going to be here forever. All these our lands, their lands when we should be facing leadership and development problems. When are we ever going rise up and make our government accountable whom we pay taxes and allegiance to? Instead we keep shouting division when none of us will be here in a century to come. |
Nigerian tribes and the "we're better than them" syndrome. Whenever something comes up representing the regions of the country, you'll see all the tribal e-warriors always wanting to show that their tribe is better than another. When is your education going to serve its purpose (make you contribute meaningfully to your life and your society) when you're blinded by bigotry and tribalism. Nigeria is dying, educated people, wake up from your tribal hatred cos it won't get you anywhere. |
mynaija123:Perhaps the man had another issue no one knows about. Part of the report saying "he discussed it with other pastors" is false. Even if he's an ordinary member who is faithful, the church is known to come to his aid from their state headquarters how much more, a pastor? |
Ekwutox:There's nothing like yorobers. It's Yorubas same way some people will be saying 'Igbo, ibo' etc. instead of Igbo. One of the reasons we have this tribalism issue is the lack of respect when mentioning other tribes. |
iamJ:About 400M for around 500k copies. |
Mutemenot:Advising parents to be of good behavior seems like something irrelevant until you come in contact with children. I'm not in the child bearing stage but I've had contacts with them a lot and the most important factor to how children will turn out is their parents and the home environment. If parents can teach their children by what they do instead of shouting and showing frustration all the time; if parents can spend quality time LISTENING to their children even on issues that seem irrelevant then they are going to have children shaped exactly they way they want them to be. More than any other human stage, children learn by watching more than hearing. |
Everything I'm reading on this thread is just breaking my heart. Not just because Nigeria is in shambles, not just because irrespective of tribe, religion and geographical differences, we are all being victimized by failed leadership but because this thread is full of intellectual minds dishing out ideas that seem handy and really progressive. Yet, we're being led by those who are only hungry for power and monetary gains. When are we going to get it in this country? |
There's one thing with silly obedience to religious laws in Nigeria. People leave the purpose of the law, flout the purpose and still claim they're obeying the law. Why would someone put on Hijab (meant to promote chastity) and still be frolicking publicly with guys in tight fitting jeans that reveals all the front and back curves? They'd still tell us they're 'good Muslims'. I don't think if it's our society that makes us pervert every religion we are into. |
tot:It might not be a natural advantage but I think women have more messages to pass through fiction and recent times is really proving that. |
fablani:No. You're being clouded by biasness here. There are some northerners who don't fall to the usual construct of 'Northerners'. These are men and women who actually strive to make names for themselves devoid of any government help. It's a great discredit to them if you keep on with this biasness. |
tot:You didn't add the fact that only 3 men featured here out of them. I'm beginning to think that women are better writers of fiction. I'm waiting for someone to prove me wrong though. |
TSRC:Just listened to the song "Bring it on" in full and though those guys are really talented together, their childishness is going to be the end of their career. |
ZaOzaRoom:Abi o. This is one of the reasons why we fall easily to politician's gimmicks. Get close to Trump, and you're considered presidential material. Nigerians will never learn. By the way I respect the man Adesina so much. |
Elexdallas:Thank God you didn't say "All of us here on Nairaland". I was ready to go defensive because for more than 6 years now, I've kept my mind free and consciously against any fraudulent activity though I get pressures from people who think they're the wisest through yahoo yahoo. |
DevilhimseIf:Yet those elite Muslims protect it at the lower elms. Meanwhile, the religious leaders of the lower classes are not wise enough. What they're most concerned with is manipulating the minds of the people through laws that holds no salt. Religion is not just an opium of the masses, it is stronger than opium. |
I hope this guy doesn't get terminated soon. Many people already know what he's saying but will remain hypocritically blind-folded just because they're proving loyalty to an archaic lifestyle. |
Every time you get to hear about the profiles of these fraudsters, you'll find out that they mostly don't belong to the unemployed, disadvantaged class, they're just greedy for money. |
I opened this thread just to comman type "wetin concern me" |
nwakaibeya1:And you have all the information about these secrets and spirituality involved in making money? |
All I see are people with a hard drive for success channeled in the wrong way. That the system is against our financial success does not mean we should spoil our image in the international systems. Now I'm more afraid of traveling to the US. |
Rosskiki:Wawuuu.... Ogbenutan! |
If Buhari really wants to appreciate Kaduna and Kano and giving them substantive ministerial positions is his way of doing that, he is wrong. Ministers most times rarely have an impact on their states of origin how much more when they're all subjects to Abba Kyari? |
