Northern parliamentarians are very kind to their constituents when it comes to government job vacancies. Southerners usually steal money from jobseekers while reserving slots for family members. There are rare cases of southerners getting northern slots through bribes though. "Rare" being a keyword as scammers have taken over.

If you are from the north and well educated, all you need is a way to reach your rep or senate member. In some cases, go to the federal character commission and cry to directors in very good Hausa or Fulani. Good spoken Arabic will also open doors for you.

My final year project supervisor called me to summarize my research work of 2 years for publication. He sent me a copy of one of his ex-student work that he published. It was only his ex student who did the work with guidance from my supervisor, but the published paper has two authors; my supervisor (main author) and his ex student. Only my supervisor's contact was also in the paper.

I strongly believe that's what he will also do with mine. Should I give him the go ahead? If I don't publish it, it will probably rot. Or is there a way for me to publish it myself?

He wants to publish it where?!! In a rubbish non-peer reviewed journal?. Please let him!! If your aim is to become a renowned researcher, having such publications on your CV will become a bad stench.

Even if his name is first, you can try to scam him into making you the corresponding author or vice versa. The corresponding author in a paper is very important.

So you have two choices:

1. He takes first author while you become the corresponding.

2. You take first author while he takes the corresponding author position.

The Northern Malo lecturers are even worst, I had a friend in Uni Abuja who was constantly failed by a Muslim lecturer in Business Adminstration dept, he wanted to knack this babe by all means, last last she graduated with 3rd Class. Most of them are bigots who constantly prey on Christian girls who they refer to as Arne of Kaffiri (Infidel)

In most cases if the girl is brilliant and can prove herself she is left alone. This your case cannot be compared to the result disappearance act lecturers down south use to frustrate gifted female students.

1. An old professor in the Southeast decided to misplace the results of a female first class student about to graduate. These were results of large unit courses he taught in her previous years. Thus turning her first class to third class.
Girl was dejected. I advised she inform her folks who were senior civil servants. After crying for days, she did just that.
These people chartered flights for the government authorities to pay a surprise visit to the man's office. The urgency was also because a lot of the staffs in this government agency also had daughters in the same school.
Lo and behold, upon arrival the man was caught red handed sexually assaulting another intending female graduate in his office. The final nail was the results being found under his office carpet after a thorough search.

Last I heard he has been abandoned by the school and his family, and is in the hospital suffering with stroke.

2. This was a university in the North Central. A lecturer approached a girl for sex else she fails his course. She too called for advice. I asked my connections who informed that the solution was for her to form "fake marriage". This is because while lecturers in the school protect each other like a cult, they respect the culture and traditions of the university host community.
Thus, they wouldn't dare assault a married woman. So madam went and bought fake engagement ring, uploaded fake baby picture on her status, and tied wrapper till the end of her final year.

She graduated in peace.

This issue being prevalent in the South is why I strongly advice Christian parents to send their daughters to Northern universities which have fewer cases because most lecturers there are die hard Muslims. They rarely approach Christian girls for sexual favours and instead target their fellow Muslims.

I am talking about students looking to do post graduate studies upon graduation who forgot to acquire the necessary skills for same during undergraduate studies.

Stumbled on this thread while chilling and decided to reply when free. Here goes:

I am a geologist, curently doing my post graduate studies in a school and field I cannot mention here. The thing about sciences is that your success is dependent on an ability to see the big picture.

For instance, there are first class graduates of geology who don't know how to apply for post graduate study or prepare a personal statement. These guys just graduated by cramming without actually learning anything.

My advice is before accepting the admission sit down and draft a plan for yourself. Where do you see yourself; is it as a researcher like me or in the oil industry.

For any choice you make there are skills you need to acquire during your study which will help in your future career. Don't just go in there and cram your way through else you'll regret it when you graduate.

I went in to geology with an open mind not knowing what it was all about but by my third undergraduate year I was already looking at what my peers in American and British universities were doing and how I could catch up. This approach to looking beyond my environment has helped me well, and should do same for you.

Some civil service jobs are really tasking(mostly agencies and parastatals).

Majority of the parastatals and agencies are seriously overstaffed due to massive backdoor nepotistic recruitments. Most times in the service you work if you want to because there are just too many people for the few office tasks.

Only time you are a little busy is if there is an event or project being undertaken by your agency. Most of the time you just come to work and gist your life away till retirement.

Many civil servants have side hustles keeping them busy apart from the job. The OP should do same.

Do both jobs. Nothing happens in the civil service so you'll get very bored. Just keep the existence of the other job to yourself in the office.

The solution is for African men to be sexually open minded when it comes to marriage and communicate with their partners. But we are not ready.

This case is similar to what happened to a good friend of mine. The boyfriend of his regular hook-up found about about them and aunty proceded to claim rape.
