They will call u a liar and all sorts of names now. I know someone who has been in Abuja for the past 3 weeks on top this same job. Infact he was given a list where he confirmed his candidates are on the list (only way I was certain they will recruit) . It's good to be hopeful but this is Nigeria I promise you. I think the energy spent here hoping could be used to lobby your senators, house members and everyone you know that can help. Try to raise money for the slots from a confirmed link. There are always slots available for the right price, make sure the person giving u d slot has an image to protect incase it doesn't go through and he needs to refund. But to think these things will just come to you in Nigeria especially this North dominated executive is simply being unrealistic. I Just feel I should put it here, it might help someone. Also remember that most of what these officials say on TV is different from the true fact
That one is a normal thing!! But the oil industry is too sensitive to have all recruits be 100% from the backdoor. Their hands are tied really. Some will get this job on merit.

Someone close to me almost got in the last time they made it public (family emergency wahala), without knowing anybody. So once NNPC goes public, merit will be guaranteed for some.

Someone came her, gave genuine information, was bashed to pieces, and now you guys want to bombard twitter?!! Are you serious at all?!!
You think anyone will be encouraged to come here and post information again after seeing the bashing here?!!
Go and bombard!! You don't know what you have till it's gone.

As for the hateful, vengeful people who are all praying for the cancellation, you will be very disappointed!! cheesy cheesy

I agree everything will round up by January, not because of court case or presidency but because as someone alluded to there are people financially invested in that date.

Look at all the training plans, expenses, do you know how much those at the top will stand to lose if January doesn't happen? That was why the police ignored the court. Not because of the applicants, but training largesse that has already been disbursed.

So I just advise everyone to have faith in the Nigerian situation. Best of luck. They will conclude it soon, but not because of you.

I'll reiterate that no pulse , no breathing, no success at CPR = Death.
You watch a lot of movies but seem ignorant about the science behind it.
The machines you're referring to are defibrillators to deliver shocks and attempt to restart the heart. That is part of CardioPulmonary Resuscitation.

Well, I think you have started to answer your own questions. You now realise that the implausible situation you've posted has no basis in science and not in any way an indictment of the Nigerian doctor which was your opening salvo.
"Apart from performing many of the tests above, though with more reliable and expensive equipment, doctors or paramedics on the scene use technology. They hook a body up to machines that monitor heartbeat, brainwaves, and respiration. If you’ve ever watched a medical show you know exactly what they’re looking for: A flatline. Doctors may also do an ultrasound to see if there’s any heart activity". (https://www.everplans.com/articles/how-to-tell-if-a-person-is-actually-dead)

Defibrillators are used to deliver shocks to revive. They are not used to monitor patient's heartbeat, brainwaves, or respiration.

My beef with the doctor is in not using either method to confirm death before sending her to the mortuary.

"I'll reiterate that no pulse , no breathing, no success at CPR = Death" Medical science has evolved beyond this your unreliable 20th century logic, which is the reason why cases like the girl's keep happening.

Doctors should do more than check pulse, breathing, or CPR before certifying death. He probably didn't do a good job at any of them, hence his wrong death diagnosis.

You are referring to a defibrillator.
Well you dont need that or an ECG to confirm death.
No pulse, no breathing, no success with CPR = Death
Your story is as implausible as they come.
Now that is the problem!!! Go abroad and see how they certify dead people. You think they just do all those things you mentioned and leave the patients like that?!!

Western medicine had this same problem, that is why you see ambulances in developed world equiped with heart monitors. Once they get a patient, he/she gets connected to the damn machine immediately!!!

My dear, your post is very ignorant if I'm honest.

It can convince other ignorant nigerians who are too reluctant to ask pertinent questions, but not any one with a rational mind.

Theres nothing like a pulse checking machine to confirm death. Death is the absence of life and human beings have been good at that for decades. Now you tell me someone had no signs of life for three days and received one American wonder drug and popped right back to life.

Seriously?
I didn't say he brought a drug from America!!!

Wait, so you have not seen a machine that measures the heart beat of unconscious patients?!! huh The problem is in your statement " had no signs of life" how did they confirm? That is the beef of my story!! They didn't properly confirm that she was dead before saying so.

This mistake is not totally unusual.

Okay.

passion007:
Haha just dead ridiculous!

Simple question, did you witness this?
If no, which I'm sure is the case, then I can only tell you that as a ball grows by rolling, so does a story.

First, do you think the doctors were remotely capable of doing something as basic as listening for heart sounds, or observing for evidence of breathing. My 90 year old grand mother can do that for context.
If so, then be aware that if the heart stops for 3 minutes, then brain function ceases, and one is technically dead. Yet you say she kept going for 3 days.

Your story therefore is implausible. The fact that baby girl is alive is in itself no credence to the ridiculous story.
cheesy cheesy You know what? If it didn't happen to someone I was so close to, I'd probably doubt like you cheesy cheesy because nobody doubt pass me for this life.

But stuff really happened!! My friend was the one taking care of the girl's mother at the hospital through the ordeal.
She called me crying one moment, and celebrated the next. The girl in question is with her big bro now in the states.

The hospital didn't have those pulse checking equipment like you see in Hollywood movies!! So everything was based on the doctor's personal check. One medical person I put it to, said it happens sometimes.

I am not going to give the name of the hospital in Kubwa Abuja, though I took a personal note of making sure people close to me flee from it.

HealthRe: Share Your Experience(s) With Nigerian Doctors by trilobite: 5:32am On Nov 27, 2019
Happened to a very good friend of mine:

One girl slept didn't wake up and was rushed to the hospital. The doctors ran tests, and did all they could (in their illiterate mind) before confirming her dead.

The mum however refused the hospital moving her daughter to the mortuary, insisting she was alive. Now when someone dies a final injection is given to the corpse before the body is moved. The mum fought tooth and nail against it's administration.

The family ordered one of their doctor sons in the USA to come back and run a final check on his sister. He took an immediate flight and arrived a few days later. Now note throughout all this the girl's body was covered on the hospital bed like a dead corpse.

Dude came in, didn't even need any fancy equipment, just checked her body and confirmed.....SHE WAS ALIVE!!!! He ordered specific tests, gave her some injections after which she regained conciousness.

The incident still scares me to this day. If not the family had him, the hospital would have killed their daughter. How many people who are in a worst financial situation have suffered a worst fate?

God help us.
EducationRe: I Feel Depressed With A CGPA Of 4.2+ by trilobite: 4:10am On Nov 25, 2019
You are very okay scholarship wise if you ask me. Just maintain it above 4.00 and you will be fine.

Masters scholarships these days are no longer about CGPA but your research ability. Schools and supervisors are looking for students who can contribute to their international standing.

I know 2.2 graduates who published good papers and got good scholarships, and arenjow being begged with lecturing jobs in their host universities after graduating.

So maintain your CGPA, and use your NYSC period try to publish some papers which will stand you out in any scholarship application.

You are fine, don't worry.

I used to be like the op. Equating sexual experience to marital happiness, till I spent time with a couple that is not happily married and realized there are more important partner qualities than how many sexual partners your partner had.

Retired oloshos can Bond and love their husbands provided he can teach them to love again. Unhappy marriages are built on pretence, with either man or woman not willing to move on from past hurt.

Oloshos or players who can heal from their psychological scars can make awesome partners in my opinion.

In any case (experienced or inexperienced) the best quality is an ability to love, and a capacity for love. That is what will take you till your later years, when sex is no longer important.
The focus on sex has led and will continue to lead people to their Doom, learn to remove it from your marital equation.

OP, do like me, go on a psychological experiment and spend time with couples not happy in their marriages. The lessons will help your maturity.

This story just played itself out in my presence too!! Women can be crazy.

Tell your sister to stay clear of that idiot, keep her life and wedding plans away from even her closest friends as that girl will surely not be the only one jealous.

In life one has to be smart, keep your good news to yourself. In my case the poor girl was dealt with by friends she called sisters, and almost sent to the streets like a beggar. All because of one rich guy.

Tell her to stay clear, shut up, and focus on her upcoming marriage.

But we are NOT talking of insane ideas. We r talking of insane people. If everyone says u r insane, that's the definition of insanity
Insane ideas come from insane people!! It's illogical to separate both.

Galileo and the rest were called insane by everyone during their time. There is even sad stories of scientists who committed suicide because people called them insane for their theories.
Only for future generations to celebrate them later.

The term "insanity" isn't clear as you would think, as what is insane today could become sane decades later.

If it deviates from the societal norm. All bright ideas of today were insane ideas of yesterday.

I don't pay attention to what people say about the woman I love, if she wants to be stupid, she will be the one to tell me by herself.

My case:

I once had a girl I loved, she was fun, homely, a good person. Till she messed up.

Baby girl got up one day and told me she has to sell her body to different men, because that was the only way for her to take care of herself.

I said nothing, pretended I didn't hear, and moved on with my life. I never called her again after that!!!

On her wedding to another guy, she ran into a mutual friend, reported me, called me all sorts, that I was a time waster who just wanted sex.

Friend was pissed, met me later and transfered the aggression!! I calmly explained what happened and what was said.

She went back, relayed her new information, baby girl was shocked!! Said she never knew I was paying attention!!

I always allow women to be themselves when we date, no control, no cage, no pressure. If you want to be stupid, you will be allowed. I have no need for cows who need a herdsman to beat sense into them everyday.
I have met wonderful wise women and very stupid women using this approach.

So this guy might have done the same, and you messed up. Move on.

As long as the past remains the past, it doesn't matter.
Only when it becomes your present or future should you abandon ship.

Wipe the slate clean and continue the relationship. Don't tell anyone what she told you and love her like nothing was said.

I'd however she decides to continue in her past ways then you run.

Very apt posts!! May I also add that threads like this enlighten everyone both merit and none merit.

I remember one guy here was accused of name replacement. That alone should have told everyone here the real significance of the thread. He probably used the information he obtained here, relayed to his source, who now did the magic.
Probably the same for the guy that found out.

I know a guy who's name got removed twice from a government job list, he wouldn't have known if not for the nairaland thread I introduced him to.

So the thread still has its usefulness, depending on where you stand.

I wish everyone good luck. For both merit and none merit, it is a struggle in a hopeless situation.
FamilyRe: Sometimes I Regret Marrying My Wife by trilobite: 2:45am On Oct 23, 2019
I am going to tell a story, I am not saying you should do the same oh!!, This is just a story... wink wink

There was a man who was disrespected by his wife but continued to stay married because of his kids. Everyday insult, every day quarrel....till one day...

He normally goes to pick her up from her shop at the close of work everyday, but that day madam decided to become possessed by the devil.

She insulted him in front of her customers and passers by, calling him names and such, telling everyone who cared to listen how useless he was as a husband.

His offence? Nothing.... absolutely nothing.

Oga remained calm, didn't respond, he quietly drove home without aggravating the scene.

Madam closes from work, goes home to find herself locked out. Oga had taken the kids to his mother's and informed madam that till they settled themselves in court, that will be the situation.

Shouting and insults quickly turned to crying and begging. It took the intervention of Oga's uncle for things to calm down.

Till today madam has never tried her stunt again, because she now knows her husband while quiet, can be totally unpredictable.

Everyday respect, everyday happiness.
Good luck.

LOL. I get that people tend to be optimistic and all. But as a lawyer, I will simply opine that status quo ante bellum simply means that the parties should hands off the subject matter of the suit and the status of the parties revert to the time before the suit was instituted. Therefore, in relation to this case, parties return to the status before the test/interview was conducted. Consequently, the parties cannot do anything and any of the parties found wanting will be charged for contempt of court. I know NNPC's legal team knows the effect of such so they wouldn't dare do anything either under ground or above ground.
2ndly, as to the issue of the final judgement of the court. Notwithstanding the ratio decidendi of the court or Even if the court rules that nnpc has the legal and equitable right to cap the age at 28, the petitioner/lawyer may choose to appeal the judgement of the high Court and proceed to the court of appeal and if he is still not satisfied then proceed to the Supreme Court. I'm not trying to be a downer here but knowing the justice system in Nigeria it will probably take a minimum period of 4 to 5 years to proceed from the high court to the Supreme Court. A miracle might happen though cos hey, God is still alive. But I will just advice that if you can keep yourself busy try and do that cos it might take a little bit of time.
Stay believing!
Funny enough, people quoting this guy can't point out a flaw in his argument. grin grin
Because it is not the outcome you expect doesn't mean you shouldn't be analytic about it.

I also agree the lawyer is a tool and is in it for his own selfish reasons. NNPC is using the standard Worldwide age for GT recruits, the fact that it might be unfair to you doesn't make it wrong.
Every logically right decision always has people who are disadvantaged by it.

My advice to everyone is right now NNPC = <5% of your thoughts or plans. In fact anything from the Nigerian government should be like that.
It will save you from unnecessary heart ache.
God help our kids.
EducationRe: Nearly First Class: What Class Of Degree Is This? by trilobite: 10:24am On Oct 19, 2019
Class of degree matters depending on the user. There are people who just want to graduate and get a government Job or go into business and so don't care so much about what they graduate.

While others targeting masters scholarships aim higher when in University.

Both groups can end up being successful in their endeavors based on their determination. I know poor graduates who are doing very well in business and high CGP holders abroad doing research. Anyone complaining about his CGP is confused and doesn't have a life direction.
