One way to tackle this is to look at it from a historical point of view. Which came first? The church or bible..there was never a ground zero for christainity..the church came first before they set out to collect and publish what they thought was inspired works by the apostles..after a serries of votes all done by men, they came up with the codex vaticanus..all these while they where guilded by the holy spitit in ddecisions concerning doctrines and traditions handed over by the early apastles..so to me. the church is more important than the bible...so whatever doctrine they define, we are obliged to believe it...

In the wildest sense posible I may define Christian as one who attained salvation through Christ or whose sins were passed over in view of Christ sacrifice. Justifying the old testament saints and bringing salvation to us in the new t.

That is why I am not suprised that even the early Christian practiced exactly the same thing moses did. When a christians was killed in persecution, the early Christians made a point of translating the remains from where ever the pagan put it and reverent bury that temple where the holyspirit was dwelt in hope of the resurrection, but unfortunately d so called modern christians are not taught Church history.

hehehehe, we venerate(profundly respect) people and even the remains of Christians are treated with respect because they were once temples of the holyspirit, we do not "worship" them in the sense you mean.

The bible has examples of great men whose graves are dug and their remain translated to a different location, it is biblical.

Ex 13:19
And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him; for Joseph had solemnly sworn "God will visit you; then you must carry my bones from here"

here is an example of the biblical practice of translating the remains of the dead. Catholics sometimes translate the remains of the dead if necessary from their previous graves to consecrated grounds.

There is nothing sinful about translating the remains of the dead.

Yahweh didn't change his mind.

Jesus is a representation of Yahweh(he does nothing of his will but the will of Yahweh). By appointing Jesus as the one to Judge mankind (Acts 17:30, 31), it is really not change because Jesus does the will of Yahweh.

Its like a president saying: "I will be at the conference next week", but sending a representative. That representative will be briefed by the president on what to do.

So also, by appointing Jesus as judge, Yahweh is still the Judge.

Jesus is being given responsibilities in the Bible, another of which is being king of God's kingdom. But notice what the scripture below says:

1cor 15:27, 28 - For yahweh subjected all things under his(Jesus) feet. But when he says 'all things have been subjected,' it is evidently that this does not include the one who subjected all things to him. 28. But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the son himself will also subject himself to the one who subjected all things to him, That Yahweh may be all things to everyone.


Jesus is an appointed judge. Yahweh appointed him, so he does Yahweh's will. So Yahweh is the chief Judge.

There goes one that has run away, though he was no friend of mine, rather he was a perfect example of the neurosis that inflicts many people who cling on to false beliefs. The one that surprised me though is Olaadegbu. Since this section has become dry I'm surprised to note his absence. I always used to believe that he would be the last man standing even after NL becomes a wasteland. It seems that even his doggedness has limits.

My guy, on this nairaland Christians have done more to make atheists than any atheist. That is so true. It is not so much their arguments but the rancid, aggressive, bullying way that they go about posting and making threats. To defeat them in argument all one has to do is encourage them to speak.

I suspect that they can now see the futility of their rabid threats and that is why they have now run away.

No one goes to hell immidiately after dead. Actually there r three types of hells in the bible,(I will return with scriptures to explain dis later). There is the hell that means the literal grave where we r buried wen we die,called sheuol the second hell is where the souls of the departed are kept awaiting judgement, its called the abode of the death or hades, the third is where the damned will be sent after final judgemnet, this is the part that burns with fire and brimestone. There's no fire in the other two. Wen we die, we r kept in a state of unconciousness, the last activity u performed is the last u wld resurrect with, u r only judged by what u did in ur flesh. Why the Bible says its appointe unto man to die and after judgement is because. Wen u die, u become unconcious and inactive untill u resurrect, it doesn't matter how long u lay dead, time Doesn't exist there.wen u resurrect, It will seem like u died yesterday.

Okay, I see.
From the above, it is safe to say that the Word Soul was not used by the bible Original writers since it is said to be an 'Old English word'.

Bearing in mind that this word soul has it's root from English and not Jewish, but the Original bible writers were Jews.
Also bearing in mind the implication of it having it's root in English(made up of Pagan Nations), is it not possible that some of the various connotations ascribed to the Word Soul are also of Pagan root ?
I mean, from the definitions above, it is obvious that it does not pretend to capture the mind and intentions of the Bible writers that made used of completely different words.

If the above is true, will it not make for shrudeness for one to count his step while swallowing the various connotations of such words in terms of bible msg ?

I mean, if the Word Soul carries foreign and strange ideas off what the bible msg is(bearing in mind it is a pagan word and of a pagan root), will it not encourage those using it without this understanding to imbibed strange belief that the bible does not support ?
