"...Yet d temperature on d dash board is still rising with the engine very hot but the water not steaming or drying". Don't you think your statement above is contradictory? If you had said, the temperature gauge shows the temperature of coolant is at the red-hot mark, without the coolant" boiling " out from the radiator, then I'd say, your car's COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR behind the engine is malfunctioning already. That sensor is behind the cylinder heads, at the middle rear close to the firewall. Its difficult to access though. If you have small hands, you could accessed it. But if not, you've to once again, removed the intake manifold (that aluminium stuff). If replacing the sensor still doe not fix this problem, please have your radiator assay checked. Feel free to contact me on my signature. Regards |
Where is your location? Are you able to leave the car for some days with us, to helped you troubleshoot what's going on with the car? Regards |
9nicetoo. I wished I could get that ride. isn't the owner contemplating selling the car instead of rusting away? |
@Witches. What exactly did you visit the mechanic shop for? What were the issues you had? If it stalls in motion, there are slots that could cause that. Do you have the service light lit on the dashboard? The costs depends on what you really want. In my case, the oil pump, was still intact, including the timing chains, guides, and auto tensioners. But since I had already dismantled the engine, I decided to replaced all the connecting rod bearings, crankshaft journal bearings, piston rings, and valve stem seals. NB: I rebuilt the engine myself, so basically, cutting down a chunk of the costs. You can contact me, by checking my signature. Regards! |
I still find it difficult to believed why AC techs would keep advising that VDC compressor should be replaced with a manual one. |
@ panafrican. If celebrating, which in our country just entails drinking tea and the rest, without anything to show in terms of development, than really. From your reply, it appears you're OK with the yearly recitation of what our so-called leaders have done in the last that's all? |

I like your marketing strategy with the AC system stuff.
I always thought it was in the auto section o! |
The various likely causes you got from google, are correct. 1.How did you know the exhaust has no leaks? Any buuuuu kind of noise when you start the car? If yes, then there is either a leak or the catalytic converter isn't there at all. 2. Sometimes, from my experiences fixing cars, it could be the O2S. In some cases you don't get to see any O2S codes popping up when you scan the car. 3. What's the state of your catalytic converter? Check if it is clogged, or none existent at all. What you could do! 1. If the catalytic converter is OK, and still in the exhaust system, you could use your code reader to take a look at the real time readings of your upstream (the one up close to the top cylinder) O2S. If it is not just fluctuating(doing it's job), then there's a problem with that sensor, an open circuit in that sensor's circuitry, etc. The upstream or that upper sensor is what "looks" at the amount of oxygen in the system, and combines it with the fuel the car would burn, to achieved air/fuel ratio balance. So if the O2S isn't doing its job, the car's ECU (brain), would interpret this as a lean situation, which would caused the injection pulse widths to increase (more fuel consumption). Hope this helps you some bit. Regards |
Nice ride, with its heavy sporty sound. I have one too(M45). In motion how? When you slowing down, or accelerating?. Need specifics here. Service engine soon light lit on the dashboard? Several things could caused it, ranging from fuel, ignition, or mechanical problems. |
Done DAT, didn't work. Bought a new battery, same thing. Someone suggested could be the motherboard. As it appears now, a new laptop might be needed. |
javaguru. absolutely. those celebrating are only those whose belle's are filled up. let's just say, political jobbers. |

Today, has being declared a public holiday, to celebrate Nigeria's independence from the colonial British empire in the '60s. Comparing Nigeria's state of affairs, and growth since independence until now, we would all agree that Nigeria, is still in a stalemate or in a stunted growth syndromes. How can one even compared Nigeria, with countries that almost had same independence with Nigeria? Look closely at Malaysia, and Singapore. These countries have gone a thousand miles already in terms of development, and and democratic progress. Nigeria is still crawling, or let's say, still sucking from the apron strings of the western powers. Wouldn't it be surprising to you to find out that your 59year old "son, or daughter", after those years of birth, is stunted in growth, without any meaningful progress? Sure if you're a good parent, you'd be devastated. But as it is in this country, Nigerian leaders are the worst leaders kind of people I have seen the world. They are not empathic about Nigerian's development, and Nigerians in general. It is only a foolish, and stupid person, that would see the so-called" progress "the country has made as an achievement. There's just not anything worth celebrating. Regards |
Pls my dell inspiron laptop has being displaying battery not detected while charging. Immediately I get to unplugged the charger from the laptop port, the laptop goes off. No matter how I try turning it on, it would never work, until it is connected to power. And even if it is connected to power, instead of the battery bar showing it charging, it just shows an X across the battery meter. What could be the problems? Thanks for your inputs. Regards |
thanks timi |
Pls I would want to inquire if there are such memory cards for sale, instead of the 32g we see around. How much do you sale, if you have any? My contacts are on my signature. |
Goodevening people! Pls a client of mine needs a Nigerian used Toyota Camry sport V6 (3.5L) car. He has offered #1.4million. If you think you have and that price is cool, pls let me know. My details are in my signature. Thanks |
@inception. You're perfectly right. That's why I took my time to organized the whole thing. Even the buckets, I had to number them using white marker, according to their positions in either of the top cylinder banks. I learnt that the hard way when I was under apprenticeship with my boss some years ago. We had missed the buckets, in a 2AZ engine, while the valve stem seals were replaced. Immediately we were done, we cranked the engine, only to realised that there was noise as if oil wasn't supplying sufficiently. We had to get another top from the store to replaced (thank, the replacement top was intact). They are self adjusting. There was no need to even adjust anything there. Those too care of themselves. |
We know it's your forum, and blabla. Because its you forum, it does not give you the express right to single out an ethnic group in such a way. Its like racial profiling, of I may use that term. I'm not Igbo, but I feel for those guys so much. We have to be open minded. We can't claimed to be together, and still treat other persons as LAST CLASS CITIZENS. No matter who you are, if you're given such a treatment for a long time, your orientation would change. You'd begin to asks yourself, "hey, wait! do I even belonged here at all?'". Nigeria is really a funny place. We have rules on paper(constitution), say this and that, but in reality do things differently. If truth be told, everybody here, including you @seun, know exactly what this ethnic group, and those in the Niger Delta are facing. Let's forget all the chop chop wey we de get o! This country would only progress if we learn to leave multi polar. No one part of the country can do go it alone. But if a section of the country feels its being deliberately been sidelined in the schemes of things, why shouldn't the national government, genuinely hold a sovereign conference to discuss these issues. Dialogue is/has always being the key. But in my view, that national dialogue, won't happened, because a certain part of the country is either scared of loosing the bounty from the South, or they are scares of going the way of southern Sudan. I don't know why Nigerian leaders don't learn. This was exactly what led to southern Sudan splitting from the North, and Eritrea from Ethiopia. Finally, you need to sometimes, be diplomatic the way you issues out " orders"(rules) on your forum. Don't always be dictatorial. Your platform is just online yet. What happens, if you owned a conglomerate like Dangote, or Billgate? That means those not in consonance with your ideologies would be immediately sacked. There would be no opportunity to hear from them. Regards, Joseph |
MOON LANDINGS IS NOT EASY Being part of a club of countries that have dared space missions before, isn't an easy tasks. Countries like the USA, Russia, Japan, and China, have spent billions of dollars in space explorations, with the USA being at the forefront, since the 60s. Just this year alone, there has being several failed space missions to the moon. Notable amongst them was the Israeli( failed Beresheet spacecraft that crashed), and India's recent crash on the surface of the moon of it's spacecraft just some few kilometers before landing. Space missions are not a kids play. It calls for huge investments, in R/R, human resources, and a dedicated budget to finance such missions. There seems to be some form of similarities between the failures of both space missions. 1. Both spacecrafts crashed just few kilometers before landing on the moon. 2. Both crashed landed, because there were a lost communication signals the vehicles, and the control rooms down on earth. Major startling difference between both failures was that, 1. Israel's space mission to the moon was privately funded, with some support from Israeli aero companies. It was Israel's first stint to the moon. The first ever by a private company. 2. India's space mission was state owned, and got a 100% of state funding and support. Lessons from this failed launches? Its just a matter of time before you catch up with those in a league. If its possible, implement different strategies to achieve your set target. Giving up in this race, is not an option. We, the check engine was not there for Christmas tree light. It has bring there subtly telling you, "oga pls take me go scan na, e b like say I de catch cold small small". You come say, " abeg ogbeni, leave me abeg. Nothing go happen. Get the car scanned. Any suggestions you get here would be guesses. Only 1% might be the solution. |
Replacing the two small intake/exhaust timing chains would involve the removal of individual camshaft gears, before fixing the chains. Without doing that, it would be difficult for the chains to get through the gear sprockets. The most delicate part of the job is to ensure that the engine is properly at TDC(timing), before commencing any work around the chains or piston areas. Without the engine aligned to TDC, engine damage could occur, while rotating the engine.

Here's how the arrangements looked lime at the end.

In this job, especially with the 2gr engines, as compared to the 1grs, organization is the key here. The valve train components on the 2gr are complex, and can easily be mixed together by mistake, during disassembly. Take a closer look at how I arranged all the camshaft bearing caps on various banks differently. I had to get some white cellophane, and write the components on its designated banks(1 or 2). Pls take note.: ¶ the camshaft rocker arms and pushrods had part numbers inscribed on them. I never wanted to mixed any of them, nest the engine starts making some noises after assembled. ¶ you could assembly everything, and put them all with the timing chains differently their various valve covers.

We were trying to really get to understand why cylinders #1 was fouled with engine oil, but #3 was not(#3 was only showing a pending code). If you looked closely on the valves seats areas, you'd notice some difference in colourations. Some were tan in colour, depicting proper combustion processes, while at the other hand, we had some valves, that were not firing at all!(the black wet colouration there).

Looking at the engine block bores. The bore diameters on each cylinder were just too much.
|
Here's an example of how a scoured crankshaft shaft journal bearing looks like. Do not reuse any bearings that has even a slight scratch.

Here's how clean the engine looked like

Observing the timing chains on both the intake/exhaust camshaft gears.
