Your water could be clean and still endanger your fish. The early year rain comes with toxic, dust that when mixed with your pond water could contaminate it, the best thing is to change the water regardless of how clean it looks

Bro, the best thing is to expose such dubious people. That is why i think e-mail remain best form of online transactions. You can easily make reference or even print the details of both party communications.

Some internet farmers have started lurking around looking for gullible to swindle, we should resolve to chase them away by exposing their deed the moment we notice such so they wouldnt be able to dupe so many innocent farmers.

It appears there are not enough dissolve oxygen in your pond, there could be many reason for this even with seemingly clean water. One of the reason could be that rain water has entered your pond, if its that kindly change the water immediately and they would be fine

Sir, if you have ordered for your fingerlings i will advice you receive the delivery, feed for 2-3weeks, sort the 2200 that are bigger and invest your balance to feed them to maturity. You should estimate between 220-250 for feeding to average of 1kg if you are using concrete pond. I will advice you construct additional pond for sorting

Sir, i quite agree with your comment as a statement of fact that vital feed gives impressive growth for growout fish. But i havnt fed smaller size of vital to fingerlings and juvenile. For the business aspect of it i will rather formulate my feed with guarantee crude protein of 58% and minimum of 50% animal protein at N320 to boost the growth of my fish than to use vital feed of almost equal amount. Having said that i think environment determine your feed model and if you want to maximise profit it is better to go local as soon as you fish started picking 3mm

Firstly i stock 250 pieces of post fingerlings in a concrete pond That was very deep to the soil so i encounter the problem of draining out water so i have to drain out water manually i. e wit bucket the method was so tiring and boring so i harvested the fishes @3mths although i fed wit foreign feed tru out my capital came out bt no single interest. I decided to filled up the pond in order to have good drainage so i succeeded in achieving that. I later stocked 700 pieces and i have to face lots of mortality i was been adviced to add vit. C to there feed and to also drain out their water and add flagyl and salt so i repeated it for 3days. The rate of mortality decreases and i was left with 400 pieces so icontinued Feeding for 2mths plus and realized they were not growing. A feed seller wanted to sell His product and adviced me to buy the super gro he introduced to me and also gave me the dosage immediately after applying the liquid i saw my fishes lying upside down so i immediately open the outlet and jumped into the pond to save them out bt iwas only able to save about 134 the rest were dead i keep on Feeding them bt they were not growing for Over four mths then i decided to sell them at a lost. So many mths passed by, i didnt have any interest in the Business so i quit for a while. Towards the end of my service (nysc ) a man came to lecture us abt self empowerment and treated fish rearing with us, so picked up interest again and decideded to buy the fingerlings from him but to cut the long story short there was jst a very little profit on that despite all my effort. But there was some thing i realised as they a very rapid growth while growing bt at three month plus the growth reduced they were not really adding more weights so i decided to sell off at four mths thinking they have attained there maximum carrying capacity. Since after then i lost interest in it. Until i came across this thread bt now i want to try hatching on my own may be i might be successful this time around. PLS ANY BODY CAN COMMENT ON THIS AND POINT OUT MY MISTAKES. THANX

I must admit your resilience in continue to forge ahead after some loses and i must tell you that winners dont quit, but you need to know where and what makes you to fail so as not to repeat the same mistakes.

There could be many things wrong with your production sessions since you did not give detail of your farm system and management i would suggest you reconsider the following areas of management in fish farming

Pond Construction: What is the capacity of your concrete pond. How do you construct the water inlet and outlet?. This singular system could determine the level of stress your fish experience each time you change water. For example i have discovered that the lesser time it takes to change water determine the level of stress your fish encountered. For me, my pond model enable me to change water in 12X8X4 capacity within 30minutes thereby taking less of my time and as well reducing the stress of my fish.

Water: What is the source of your water? The quality of water in your pond will determine the health of your fish. You can read a lot on pond water management

Seed: What is the source of your seed, fingerling, juvenile?. It is important to get your fingerling from reputable hatchery so as to ensure good start from the onset. The first two month in production cycle will determine whether your fish will grow well or not. During these period, your water management and feeding must be in top gear. You will experience changes in their growth and eating habit. Also, you may need to treat your fish for common sickness at that tender age but must not over treat them as this may affect their growth. Just ensure your water management is perfect.

Feed: How quality and quantity of feed your fish consume?. The quality of your feed cannot be over emphasised. What they eat will to a large extent determine their growth. It is ideal to feed your fish at the first 2-3month with quality foreign feed like coppens, multifeed, Zeigler etc. But you can as well supplement especially at the first month with grounded tilapia or clupeid, this is to ensure maximum intake of required amino acid to kick start their growth and once they are on that part you are already on your way to success. Be reminded that this required additional cost which some farmers sees as not necessary but it worth spending. Another secret which work for me is starting with 0.8mm coppens for fingerling or juvenile. For fingerling i ensure they eat enough 0.8 before changing to 1.5mm. These two starter feed contain high percentage of protein which aid their growth and by the time they started eating 2mm they would have outgrown the initial stage of sickeness associate with fingerling and juvenile.

The next stage of feeding is where to play your fish farm economy, you make a choice whether to continue buying imported, local extruded or locally pelletise feed. In order to increase profit many settle for locally rich pelletise feed with high protein and reduce the protein content as your fish grow. You can save up to 100,000 to 150,000 in feed cost for 1000kg of feed used if you know what you are doing at the same time gain additional weight compare to when you use imported feed.

Sorting: This is very important especially when you are using concrete pond. The best sorting is when you sort to four categories for optimum growth but you can still sort to two pond if you have limited ponds.

On a general note, pay attention and give your fish quality treatment and you will reap quality harvest. Endervour to visit successful farm in your area and ask question on how they go about their business. Also read research about related topic to boost your knowledge about the business and the sky will be your starting point.

I believe experts in the house will give more info about what you need to do to enhance your performance

There are so many research on the import of garlic as it act as attractant, help in growth and serves as antibiotic the inclusion for best performance should be in the range of 3g for 100kg

People should help me prevail on Mr Robonski to supply my juvenile since i February 11, 2016. I have try as much as possible not to bring this to the forum simply because i wanted to respect individual business right but he has not kept his part of the agreement even after he promise to deliver on the 20th which lapse on Sunday and there has not been call or message from him or any of his associate.

Is this the way you intend to help upcoming farmers? I dont understand the continual delay in supply despite initial promise that supply will be made one week after payment. Your sale manager told me there are juveniles on ground but he needs you to give him the go ahead of which you have intentionally denied to give. Remember i have to scan the teller of payment to your e-mail at the instance of Mr Soft777 who said there was a mix-up and yet you failed to supply the juveniles.

Mr Nuvembarz, Phemmy, Ayosat, Ab1x and others that have direct contact of Mr Robonski & Soft 777 should prevail on them to do the needful. We have come a long way to build relationship and establish integrity, i dont want to be seen as someone who would tarnish such image.

Oga Robonski, i'm looking forward to the 20th date of delivery of my juveniles. My ponds have been ready for sometimes. Below is the view of the new ponds.

The only proven addictive to the existing formular is to include Broiler Vitamins (B Vit). It works like wonder and it will make ur fish to be more and grow speedily

Pls how can it be administer. At what percentage to 100kg. Do you suggest that it should be mix with other ingredient before pelletising?

You can replace the imported fish meal 100% with clupeid fish (I think it's Yoruba call it yoyo)

I read a scientific research comparing 72% imported fish meal from Holland to local clupeid, conclusion, no difference.

So don't waste your money please. Will find a link to the research and post.

The current price is 850 naira per KG in my area. Even at that, I still use the fish meal to make my feed, the only thing is that I reduced the %. There is no way you will want result without using the imported fish meal.

My Boss, i respect your contribution and your formula that i've been using is doing wonder. The only different is that i replaced foreign fishmeal with clupeid [yoyo]and the result have been tremendous. However, i think it can be better with foreign fishmeal that is why i wanted to give it a try but the cost of foreign fishmeal has not been encouraging.

Having said that, am prepare to revert to my old formula but to add addictive to the formula to enhance the acceptability.

What are those proven formulated addictive one can buy and mix to the composition of the feed apart from natural fish oil. Where can one get those addictive in Nigeria market.

I just asked a friend the price of imported fish meal 72% protein and he said 50kg goes for 41,000 meaning 820naira per kg. What is your take in the use of foreign fishmeal in feed composition. If you can afford it you can as well fill 9inch block but putting tiles in pond that will be filled with fish slime is like trying to dig one's grave may God forbid. If the floor is well concrete and plastered with all the edges cemented there will be no leakages

You can get expert to help you construct one or visit farms with concrete pond and ask question

To construct concrete pond, you can design your pond and as well supervise the construction if the builder is not vast in such construction

It is better to use 9 inch block but you can still use 6 inch block but the hollow need to be filled with concrete

You can erect supporting pillars to ensure the firmness of the pond

@ Robonski, I have to express my displeasure regarding 4000pieces of juvenile i ordered from you and to be delivered to Abuja since 11 of February this year. It will be one month this week since i placed the order with full payment for the juveniles yet i have not hear from you or your sales manager despite several calls to him. I have personally e-mail my GSM number to you but havent heard from you or your staff, my several calls to your sales manager has yielded no result as well, what is really going on? Your delay in delivery despite promising 1week after payment has made me wasted so much time.

If the juveniles are ready what is causing the delay in supply?

If they are not ready, why not inform your customer about it so as not to strain business relationship?
