PrinceCEE: Can a Nigerian student who has already been admitted to a Nigerian federal university and probably in his second year of study be able to be admitted for another degree program for a different course of study in another university in Nigeria and then run the two programs simultaneously?
On a more specific note, I'm a mechanical engineering student of a federal university and I want to enrol for another degree program which I plan on rounding up at exactly two years after my mechanical engineering degree as I'm currently in my 2nd year of study. So that I'll be in 300L and 100L respectively in two different universities and different programs as well.
Please, I need well elaborate answers from well meaning nairalanders. Thanks... Guy no kill ur sef. Work no dey labour market. While u are running one course, go acquire skill in a profession like comp software hardware, phone software and hardware or networking, graphics, barbing, hairdressing, and other skilled based profession. NaijaNewsPapers: The Nigerian Army has declared itself victorious over the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which was recently declared a terrorist organisation. The Army made the declaration on Friday, September 22 in a statement by Colonel Sagir Musa, the deputy director public relations 82 Division.
The statement posted to PRNigeria read in part: “Despite the initial opposition to Exercise EGWU EKE II by the outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra IPOB members and their sympathizers and unpatriotic elements, the general area of the South East especially Aba in Abia State is now fully stabilized.
“The usual violent activities of the outlawed IPOB “National Guards” (manning check points and extorting money from traders and motorists) have now been checkmated. “Similarly, the outlawed IPOB group presence is no longer visible and people go about their normal businesses without fear, let or hindrance. “The 82 Division Nigerian Army wishes to reassure the public that it is poised to maintaining the peace and security in the entire South-Eastern Region.
“Members of the public are please requested to cooperate with security agencies by remaining law abiding and passing credible information to the nearest security check point or call 193 and the various Sector Commanders’ telephone numbers that were earlier made public.”
Premium Times reports that the Army’s declaration followed the conclusion of a one-day tour of the region by the chief of Army staff Tukur Buratai.

Business › Re: Things To Keep In Mind When Taking A Blood Pressure Measurement by Tunagee(m): 6:19pm On Sep 21, 2017 |
Unitedsurgicals: (1) Best time to take a BP measurement, especially for tracking, is immediately after you wake up. Also see tip #7. This would be your resting heart rate (RHR) reading which should remain pretty consistent. More random measurements could be taken during the day for additional data points.
(2) Do not take a measurement immediately after walking from somewhere. For accurate and consistent measurements, you should be seated in the same position for 15 minutes before putting the cuff on and taking the measurement.
(3) Strictly no movement or talking while the BP machine is in operation. The only slight movement should be from your normal breathing. Stay relaxed and breathe normally.
(4) Sit on a chair placed in front of a table that allows you to rest your forearm parallel to the floor -- at the level of your heart. Also, do not sit cross-legged. Your legs should be bent from your knees so that they are almost perpendicular to the floor; you could keep them slightly out in front of you. In short, sit in a relaxed, upright position.
(5) Put the cuff on immediately before taking a measurement. Do not leave the cuff tightened around your arm for a long time if you are taking multiple measurements and then averaging them out. If you want to take multiple measurements for getting average then loosen/remove the cuff and wait 5 minutes in-between the readings.
(6) Do not measure your BP for 60-90 minutes after having food or taking a bath/shower. The BP is elevated during and for at least an hour after these activities. Similarly, do not measure your BP after any sort of physical exercise or emotional stress unless you are specifically tracking the BP for those situations.
(7) Do not measure your BP if you feel the need to urinate or empty your bowels. Go use the toilet and then follow tip #2.
( Last but not least, try to take the BP measurements sitting in the same posture at the same time or after the same activities every day. This will give you consistent measurements and should help you catch any changes in your BP more accurately. This is very important for titration, i.e., adjusting the dosage of your BP medicine(s).

So they advised like 30 minutes after waking. |

Career › Re: First Bank, Whtycleon Sacking Staff Massively by Tunagee(m): 9:36am On Sep 09, 2017 |
Klimaths: Hello, fellow nairalander please who can help stop this wickedness of first bank and whtycleon with their indiscriminate way of sacking contract staff for no reasons they will just send you a text messages that your services are no longer needed. Not because you commit fraud or any other issues on the job , all they do is to send you a text message and disengage you .
Those that have been sacked have additional qualification and upgraded their results , so there is no reasons at all for the massive sacking. Imagine they will employ you when you still useful and able to apply for other jobs and sack you when your age have past the employment age of virtually all company that will require your services.
Sacking by 33 year, to 35yrs. Who will employ you. After all the scarifies in the job. They just sack you with no benefit of any kind. Please who can help stop this wickedness contract staff are like slaves to them, use you and dump you.
Please my advice to those seeking for contract job in first bank please think twice because the same fate awaits you. Please can the mod take this to the front page. Please the lawyers in the house can help enlighten if any legal action can be taken against them. Thanks This does not only happen to contracts, it also affects permanent ones. MTN in April 2017 suddenly decides to give her permanent staffs exit opportunity. In other words, resign and be paid off peanuts, even after working for 13 years. They did this to frustrate those staffs that have stayed long in the business, but remained on one spot for years with accumulated salary increase in spite of all additional qualifications they must have acquired. The management believed most of them were already too old for their level, level 2 at age between 35 to 45 upwards. (MTN with their poor and exploitative career path do not promote automatically, u have to keep applying to move ahead in the midst of very strong politics for several years of which u become old and stagnant on one spot after which they flush u out on age basis) The management decided to bring in fresh and very young graduates to fit into their spaces which explained the massive recruitment being done recently in the last 3 to 2 months. The best thing is to be creative and look for businesses one can do instead of this ''yes sir'' ''yes sir'' to slave drivers. |

'We can rebuild your homes, but we can't rebuild your lives' Governor of Florida
The largest evacuation in US history is underway as more than 5.6million people have been ordered to leave Florida before Category 5 Hurricane Irma strikes the Sunshine State.
The state's Gov. Rick Scott urged people who hadnot left yet to leave as soon as possible on Friday.
He warned those who plan to stay, that they may have to ride out the dangerous storm at their own risk.
He explained that the biggest concern with the powerful hurricane is the predicted storm surge that will come along with the lashing winds and heavy rains.
The storm has the potential to do $125billion worth of damage when it strikes Miami and possibly much more.
Irma has caused devastation in the Caribbean, killing at least 24 and leveling entire islands.
Extensive damage has been reported on Barbuda and St Martin, with over 90 per cent of buildings wrecked.
The storm is currently battering the northern coast of Cuba.

Phones › Re: The Bitter Experience Of Gionee by Tunagee(m): 9:15am On Sep 09, 2017 |
KingsleyCEO: The bitter experience of Gionee The journey thus far. Some time last year around July 2016 I walk into a phone shop to get a new Tecno phone with the aim of using it to replace to old one, while I was there this pretty lady walked up to me and told me about the much advertised Gionee M5 plus phone after preaching with lots of conviction I told myself there was need to explore new stuff instead of sticking to just one brand. At this point I gave in to her and purchased the phone, I only had one SIM card with me at the point of purchase which they helped me fit in the device while. I was told I can always insert the second when I get home. But on getting home I did insert the second SIM card as I was told, but to my greatest shock it didn’t work. At this point I called the lady she told me to come immediately which I did, but after wasting my transport to come down they didn’t collect the phone I was told to come back again the following week after which they gave me a replacement. Fast forward to 2017 I discovered the phone started showing phone rooted click to repair I did what was prompted severally but no soluction After some time, my charger got damaged after much findings I was told there is an authorized service center in Bannex, Wuse Zone 2, FCT, Abuja.
Poorest Service |Center so far I have every reason to say this because I have used other care center before especially tecno, they accord you the highest respect maybe you guys should visit tecno care in zone 4. But on getting there to Gionee care center, I related the first issue of the phone showing rooted and explained to the guy that I never rooted the phone and I also didn’t give the phone to anybody and that the finger print lock is what I always used and at such no other person has access to the phone except me, they confronted me that I did, at a point I had to tell the guy that if I rooted the phone will he beat me up? So what is my gain if I lied? they reluctantly collected the phone and charged me #2,000, which I paid after then I told them I will love to get the charger and requested for the price they told me me a very crazy price that I was not comfortable with they further said the charger is not available yet, the price still got me thinking that I had to go online to search for Gionee customer care center number which I called and I was given a different price which was #1,000 less than what I told at the Abuja care centre in Bannex and also went further to give me the separate prices for the charger head and USB cable and said they could be purchased separately I explained things to the agent concerning the office Abuja people gave, the agent appologized and told me to please go back and meet John directly.
Before going to meet John, I called him on the phone to ask if the charger was available he told me yes. on getting there yesterday 8th September I requested to buy charger they brought it out with a USB cable I told the guy that I just want only the head and have no need for the USB cable to my greatest shock I was told they don't sell separately that I must buy both then I requested to see John he told me he was busy I had to call out loud the said John who came out from the inner room without any attention and told me they don't sell it separately and that's it and walked back.even when I tried to tell him I have reached out to online customer call center no way he was not even hearing me.
My terrible mistake I have by all this experience learnt to stick to what works and not jumping into what is not certain.
My regrets I recommend this brand to close friends and colleagues who purchased, but they who will come for my head if they get this kind of experience but thanks to God next year we will be given new allowance to get new device I pray everyone's device don't fail so I can correct my mistakes in due time.
My simple solution On Monday next week I will just visit tecno care center and buy one infinix charger head and manage the device till next year.
My conclusion is you guys can keep your accessories to yourself and eat them because this is the first and last time I will ever use anything that has the name Gionee or any related to it. Gionee that was practically begging when their brand came to Nigeria. |

ChangeIsCostant: A Uber driver, identified as Hammed Olojo, 31 was on Sunday afternoon restrained by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad on patrol of Third Mainland Bridge from jumping into the Lagoon. Olojo, who drove himself to the Third mainland Bridge in a Uber Toyota Corolla saloon car had written a short note and left it in the car when he was retrained by the officers who monitored him a while before walking up to him.
Olojo, an ex – convict, drove the grey Corolla with the registration number EKY 312 ES belonging to Kalejaiye Oluwaseyi to the bridge before attempting to leap into the Lagoon.
Questioned by RRS Commander, ACP Tunji Disu on why he contemplated suicide, Olojo explained that he was owing N10,000 in Court 3, Ikeja High Court and the owner of the vehicle N80,000:00.
He stated that things have been difficult for him and that he had tried all possible means to survive with no success.
Olojo disclosed that his wife persuaded him from going ahead with his plan but his mind was made up and was fed up of everything.
Olojo, had planned to leave behind a short note in Yoruba and translated into English in the car before leaping into the Lagos Lagoon.
The letter read in part “I killed myself because of the challenges I have been facing in life. I tried my best and everything has come to nothing”.
He also added in the letter that he was owing a creditor N10,000 in Court 3 of Ikeja High Court and N80,000 for the owner of the UBER car he was driving.
Kalejaiye who was at RRS office in company of his wife noted that for two weeks, he had not remitted N40,000 per week lease to him yet and he Kalejaiye, has been paying for the service of the car.
He noted that although, he told him to hand over the car last Thursday, at no time did he force him not to drive the car.
He noted that he was aware that he had a court case, at no time did he put him under pressure about the car.
In the note which was dated 27th August, 2017 and signed by him, Olojo indicated his phone number and the car owner’s number.
Confirming the development, Police PRO stated that the case had been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Source; https://www.nationalhelm.co/2017/08/n90-00000-debt-forces-uber-driver-into-suicide-attempt.html The writer should also check use of words. How can the wife persuade him to commit suicide? EniolaEwa: Good morning....I just got out of school so I applied for a job pending when I will go for service, I applied somewhere and they told me I can only be given a contract position, I need to know what a contract staff mean and the advantage and the disadvantage....I'm waiting thanks A contract staff means that a third party( an outsourcing firm) is in charge of your welfare(salaries and other few benefits, if available. You are not directly employed by the company; therefore u do not have access to benefits and other additional gains the company might provide for the permanent staffs that are employed directly. Your employment is for a fixed period, meaning they can tell u to go after that fixed period of time and they do not owe you anything. The outsourcing form is paid a certain amount by the organisation to pay you as salary, but they will in turn pay you according to their capacity. Being a contract staff does not actually guarantee u a permanent position, as the main company is not under any obligation to make u one. In short its slavery, because your job expectation is the same as the permanent, but benefits such as bonus, training, profit sharing, loans, participation in decision making, career growth, severance benefits and annual salary increment are only enjoyed by the permanent staffs only while your output s is expected to be the same, the aforementioned benefits(inputs)are not the same. |

opendo21: We live in an ever changing environment complete with its’ attendant risks and opportunities. Rapidly decreasing real wages due to inflation and currency depreciation over the past year, high cost of living, increase in crime rates, and increasing death rates due to road accidents, epidemics and now terrorism. It has become imperative for us as individuals to take charge of our finances and protect our future. We don’t like to talk about death in this part of the world, but let’s face it, death is real, even our favorite t.v series Game of Thrones confirms this with the saying Valar Morghulis meaning “All men must die”. The real question is How prepared are you for it? Let me ask this simple question, If Death knocks today, Are your total assets as at today enough to take care of your dependents till they become independent? If your answer is Yes, then maybe you don’t need life insurance, but if No, then why leave their future to chance? Many families have their dreams shattered simply because there was no support after the death of the breadwinner. Life insurance would have provided that support if the breadwinner had one. The standard of living in most countries ties with the level of insurance it's citizens have. Over the next few days, I will be sharing the different types of life insurance available, their benefits and risks. So share your thoughts Insurance bullshit my ass! Business › Re: The Secret Of Making Money Printing And Selling Recharge Cards 2017 by Tunagee(m): 12:47pm On Aug 15, 2017 |
Luegazan: The smartest way to make money in Nigeria is to start a recession-proof business. That is, a business whose products or services are everyday necessities and are always in huge demand; regardless of the state of the economy. One of such businesses is recharge card printing and selling. There are about 80 million active mobile phones lines in Nigeria— that’s about half of the country’s population. And the average phone user buys recharge cards every week. This, coupled with the fact that communication over the phone is now an everyday need, explains why printing and selling recharge cards is a very profitable business. If you are looking to start your own small business and are completely at sea as to which option to go for, then you should consider starting a recharge card printing and selling business. The required startup capital is minimal, you don’t need any formal qualifications to get started, and you can start making profits as in a matter of days to weeks. Story! Guy we are in an era of technologically advancements, hence nobody prints recharge again except a few. The world is going into virtual transfer of airtime. The banks have also incorporated recharge via VTU from their bank accounts. Don't waste ur money printing up and down. Electronic transfer has taken over. |
