Shouldn't this be in the culture section?. What is the big thing about unveiling a logo created by an artist?. Then, it's babapupa, any force that speaks against anything related to Fashola must be abused or branded a tribalist.

Ok here we go again,a fella doesn't like a thread and can't simply ignore it but decided to post on it with intent of starting the usual NL brawl wink Come on guy cut some slack. I think you too are guilty of posting issues on the section that ought to be on other sections too.

It may sound very ironic but true. I think this is another brief artistic but classic thread that shoots a very sharp dart or arrow the heart of the guilty. Personally i sometimes believe that i may also be guilty about calling names and trading blames about my nation's woes and have never made an attempt of being part of the change. No hard feelings,i feel the original poster may have been a bit harsh but i get the message perfectly.

WOW ! Threads like these as usual gives both active gays and potential gays the opportunity to vent their anger grin Really interesting how time flies.

If i can still remember clearly about 17 years ago when i was in my final year in secondary school, I played an active role in the lynching a good friend of mine whom was "caught in the act" with a junior student.

Jungle justice it was for my dear friend whom was "homo". We took laws into our own hands back then and anytime i look back i smile with no regrets that i was part of the jungle justice squad that says no to homosexuality. wink wink

strangleyo:

You can't predict earthquakes.

Sleeping outside because someone said there might be an earthquake is silly.

Contrary to your thought. Earthquakes can be predicted scientifically.I dont know the source of the rumour the ghanians in accra got.But to face the fact one of the only things those scare people could have done was to stay outside.

http://www.wisegeek.com/can-earthquakes-be-predicted.htm:

Earthquakes happen when the tectonic plates underlying the continents slip past each other violently, causing severe vibrations. Unlike eclipses, predicting earthquakes was entirely impossible prior to the 1970s. However, some headway has been made in recent decades.

In February 1975, scientists predicted an earthquake five hours in advance. The earthquake occurred in Haicheng in northeast China and it was the first time an earthquake prediction bore true. Millions of people had time to evacuate their homes and factories before the earthquake hit, saving tens of thousands of lives. Although many towns were totally destroyed, only a few hundred people died.

Politics / Ghanians Sleep Outside Due To Earthquake Scare Rumours by tundewoods(m): 4:36pm On Jan 24, 2010
Rumour of an impending earthquake that reverberated across the country woke the whole of Ghana up at dawn Monday January 18, 2010.

While no one seems to know the source of the rumour, friends, families and neighbours made phone calls, sent text messages and knocked on doors to send warnings for people to wake up and leave their rooms.

One of my neghbours called and simply said, “they say there will be an earthquake and everyone should get out of their rooms and sit outside,” without giving further details and there was no time to ask questions as he moved to alert other neighbours who were fast asleep.

But Geologist and earthquake expert Prof. E. Otchere-Amamoo formerly of the University of Ghana Centre for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Services told ghanabusinessnews.com on the phone that “the information could not be true.”

He said “it is difficult to predict the precise occurrence of an earthquake,” adding, “unlike an eclipse which is easier to predict because it is the movement of the earth in relation to other planets, earthquakes are movements of the earth happening 500km or 700km deep down the belly of the earth.”
He also said if indeed there was going to be an earthquake, it would have happened within the period that people were rudely woken from their sleep.

While most Ghanaians are still wondering where the rumour started from, most citizens would have to catch on some sleep on a Monday morning.

Politics / Agitators For Jonathan Presidency Playing With Treason – Ogunlewe by tundewoods(m): 10:17am On Jan 23, 2010

Why is it that members of PDP just prefer to utter plain gibberish all in a bid to defend the president's "AWOL" It is obvious that they all have capitalized on the loophole in the constitution to keep their Cabal in control long enough,  undecided

Former Works Minister and chieftain of the PDP, Engineer Adeseye Ogunlewe has cautioned agitators for take over of the office of the President by his deputy, Dr Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking with Saturday Sun in an exclusive interview, Ogunlewe submitted that since the ailing president did not notify the National Assembly of his intention to transmit power to his deputy as provided for in the constitution , any attempt to transmit power to Jonathan would amount to treason, as it runs against the process highlighted in the constitution.
Excerpts:

Let us start with the state of the nation: a president whose Sate of health is shrouded in secrecy and Nigerians are worried that why is it so difficult for PDP to let Jonathan take over, after all he isn’t from any of the opposition parties

Look it isn’t a PDP matter, it is a constitutional matter. All those people who are clamouring for something that isn’t covered by the constitution, they are only being a little but mischievous and it’s unfair .The constitution has protected the president to be absent as long as undefined in the constitution. Section 145 indicated that, if he transmits; if he doesn’t transmits there is nothing that anybody can do . But that is the lacuna in our constitution and unless and until that is removed.

Our constitution never anticipated what is happening now, so there is no provision for it. My fear is that people shouldn’t just drift into areas of treason.

How do you mean?
If you do anything that isn’t covered by the constitution it is treason so people should be careful. There’s nothing anybody can do .

But the same constitution envisages this and said, if a sitting president knows that he would be away for long, he should write to the National Assembly so that the VP can act in his absence.
If you don’t do so, what does the constitution say? There is no sanction. That is the area I am talking about; he has been protected that if he doesn’t act, there is nothing anybody can do. If the constitution has specified that if you don’t do so these are the consequences then we will be talking.

But the president can’t be larger than the nation…
[cuts in] It is the constitution that is larger than the nation, it isn’t the individual. He has been protected by the constitution, by the word, ‘If ‘ and there is nothing anybody can do.

The fact is that Nigeria is full of politicians and elites that prefer to react and say things from their lips and not from the bottom of their hearts. Politics / Yar'adua Talks To Obama by tundewoods(m): 4:28pm On Jan 18, 2010
Funke Egbemode,no doubt is one of Nigeria's best columnist at the moment. She has a way with Sarcasm that is quite unrivaled byany female journalist. In her current piece below. I was conned  undecided into getting a copy of the The Sun Newspaper after seeing the caption of her article in the back page of the The Sun. WOW ! she may have succeeded in catching my attention and making part with my money for a copy but sarcastic humor was kind of worth it.  grin

Funke Egbemode :

Where else will you read a hot interview like this? Who else will make President Yar’Adua speak to President Obama through the local media? Are you clapping for me?
Yar’Adua: Good afternoon Mr President.
Obama: Good afternoon, Mr Yar’Adua. It’s so good to hear your voice.
Yar’Adua: We thank Almighty Allah. At least now my people will know that I’m alive.
Obama: That’s right. But I think you should have made this call long before now.
Yar’Adua: You know how it is with matters of state…

Obama: But you are in the hospital, ill and incommunicado.
Yar’Adua: Don’t mind the media in my country. Are you not speaking with me? How come we are having this conversation if I’m incommunicado? I may be ill but Nigeria is running fine. I’m still in charge.
Obama: I agree absolutely. The fuel queues are still there. Hostage-taking has resumed and your Ministers are still awarding king-size contracts.

Yar’Adua: (coughs) The most important thing is that Nigeria is working.
Obama: But you are still ill, very ill in fact.
Yar’Adua: Yes but all is well. So, how is America?
Obama: All was well until one of your children tried to kill 300 Americans with bombs he had carefully sewn into his pants.
Yar’Adua: Actually, the boy is not my child. He is the child of one of Nigeria’s most respectable families.
Obama: Ah, we should thank God then. If he were not from a respectable family, he would have killed maybe a thousand of my people.

Yar’Adua: Allah forbid. Nigerians love life too much to want to die, not at age 23. That is why there has been uproar against your country putting Nigeria on a terror list.
Obama: There is uproar here in America too.
Yar’Adua: We shall do everything in our power to resolve this problem. That is why I have instructed my Vice President to urge U.S. to take us off that list.
Obama: Really? I shall tell the U.S. Secretary of State to speak with him.

Yar’Adua: You won’t speak with him?
Obama: Mr President, you and I know enough about international political protocol to understand that the Office of the President of the United States of America cannot be trivialised.
Yar’Adua: Are you saying we are trivialising the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?
Obama: No. You know I cannot say that but things would be a little bit easier if your Ministers would stop playing politics and set up a medical panel so you can transmit the necessary document to your Senate and douse all this tension.
Yar’Adua: There is no tension and my Ministers will never set up a medical panel that will say I can no longer continue in office.
Obama: Why, I thought they were honourable men and women cleared by your distinguished Senators, patriotically serving their nation?

Yar’Adua: Yes, they are but we are on the same ticket.
Obama: How could that be? I thought only you and the Vice President ran on the same ticket.
Yar’Adua: Yes again. What I mean is that my ticket is their meal ticket. If they sack me, they will be sacking themselves.
Obama: In other words, your ministers’ interest are far and above national interest?
Yar’Adua: Some things are too Nigerian to be understood by Americans, Mr Obama.
Obama: Like that face-off between your House and Senate over where you would present the supplementary budget?
Yar’Adua: And that Wole Soyinka rally during the week.
Obama: I agree that your country is quite a complicated entity. Trying to understand Nigerian politics is like walking through a maze.

Yar’Adua: You will understand us by and by. Just take us off that terror list and please do something about those scanners showing the unclothedness of my people.
Obama: All I also ask is a President to relate with. And by the way CNN will be visiting you soon with their cameras. I hope you will grant us a full interview.
Yar’Adua: We shall see.

Politics / Once Upon A Time:: Yar'dua Was The Messiah According To Bakare by tundewoods(m): 10:54am On Jan 16, 2010
thenationonlineng.net:
SIR: It beats my imagination that when former President Olusegun Obasanjo was elected, Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly announced that God showed him that Obasanjo was not the ordained man to preside over Nigeria, therefore he would not last. But in contrast Obasanjo completed two terms and even made a failed bid for a third.

Then on President Umaru Yar’Adua who was forced on the nation by the same Obasanjo, Pastor Bakare prophesied that Yar’Adua was the messiah that would see Nigeria through. This was widely publicised in the media, apart from informing his congregations. I disagreed with him then because his prediction was at variance with the revelation God gave me, though I may not be a certified prophet.

Now reading The Spectator of Friday December 18, in an interview, Pastor Bakare was quoted thus: "It could be the end for Mr. Yar’Adua because if he does not leave office, office will leave him anyway. It is a question of time, I think there is an assumption outside there in the presidency that the office of the president of Nigeria is like the ancient throne of Usman Dan Fodio or Alaafin of Oyo or Oni of Ife, Every man or woman of goodwill in this nation must rise up for strategic intervention, His (Yar’Adua’s) refusal or inability to transmit to the National Assembly his inability to continue to steer the ship of the state for a while before going for his medical check-up or treatment is an insult on our collective intelligence, (and) Just like the president, the entire nation has been sick".

With the above, can Pastor Bakare give us proper visions, if we must continue to believe him? I think he should wait on God to properly inform him on every vision before he gives it out.

http://thenationonlineng.net/web2/articles/29959/1/Pastor-Bakares-prophecies/Page1.html

WOW !! How time flies grin grin It seemed just like yesterday when Pastor Tunde Bakare authoritatively stated that "Yar'dua was the man messiah".

It's funny though that suddenly Bakare has become a very active voice against the " obvious injustice of our Yar'dua messiah ".No hard feelings !! I still believe you Pastor Bakare whether you protest against the messiah or not ! I will patiently wait till our messiah returns from Saudi, Isreal or where ever he is presently hiding.

After all they say the patient dog eats the fattest bone. grin grin grin
