I think he can use trip advisor if he is looking for cheaper deals. ET and Turkish airlines are cheaper with 2 or 3 stops.

What of iom concession flight. Are ppl no longer using it? Can someone on 491 use it? I read they give more luggage limit and concession for ppl who are emigrating to Aussie.
Absolutely. Trip Advisor is a good option.
Concession flight with IOM is still available but not available for any other visa apart from Skilled migration visas.

I do agree with tunlex01, however I understand the message Lislekelsey is trying to pass across. Yes after the November changes it's been difficult to secure 189, 190 and 491. Now the pandemic just made it worst. Yes the requirement is to have 65 points but the competition for places has increased, hence the increase in points required. Again, it's dependent on your occupation. Some require higher points and while others with 65 points (mostly trade occupations) you are good.

The message here is for people to aim higher than 65 points in order to increase their chances. The process cost a lot of money and it's one which requires proper planning and adequate information prior to proceeding, else you will be left disappointed.
Very right. I was not just comfortable with the generalisation. Since November, it has not been flowing like it used to but I believe the new year will bring forth good news.

ACT sponsorship is more on the matrix points. If you like have 200 points and you don’t meet the matrix cutoffs, you will queue until the EOI expires
Yes I am very aware of that. ACT works with their matrix point.

Sir/ma. That was before. Since the year started that has not happened. Show me one single person who has gone in with your 65 and started their processing after nov 19th. One person pls

And you very much misquoted me. I'm not talking about before your regional sponsorship. Regional sponsorship alone adds 15points. Most ppl enter 90-95 immediately. So.....

Then most ppl here are talking from the past. Before everything was revised. No one here has mentioned starting processing after the revision of visas and meeting their cutoff. The ppl I know were not taken. Its why I've been following this thread. Looking for extra ways to get additional points just to meet up apart from schooling.
I'm glad you said the people you know. I know over 6 people who are not on Nairaland who have gotten ITA from TAS and ACT with 65 and 70 points since December till May, 2020. Please note that not everyone running this migration is on Nairaland. A very fresh one I can remember got ITA as a Cabinet maker with 65 from TAS within 12 days. Another got with 65 from SA - ICT Customer Support officer before the occupation moved to 75.

491 Family sponsored visa also gives you the 15 points.

Ways to get nomination faster is to assess for occupations like technicians roles with TRA. We hope July will bring forth good tidings

Nice plan.
With a positive assessment as MLT, you need to write MLS professional exam in South Africa or UK. You also need to score 20 points from IELTS or PTE so your point can be upto 90. With 90, there is high probability of getting 189.

If you get 189, you can do soft landing and go back to Nigeria. Before your visa expires, you need to come back to Australia and travel back again. But you will need to apply for Resident Return Visa anytime you want to come back to Aussie.

Your question of if the money is good.
YES, the money is good. But all these calculations depends on ASUU and FG as per strike levels.

It is achievable if you put your mind to it.

quote author=Actinium post=90081422]Good day to all members of the forum, I have quite a situation here... I have a degree in Medical Laboratory Science, currently with 2years experience and counting, also I'm currently 28yrs old and also a 100L MBBS student in one of the Federal institutions. I hope to start my Australian PR with AIMS using my MLS degree while still going thru medical school. Now here are my questions;

1. All things being equal, I'll get my PR visa before graduating, can I soft land before my IED and come back to finish up the degree?

2. Will the medical degree be beneficial to me in the long run in Australia since I'll have just little experience by then, because I read getting into practice is not so easy. Tho I hope to write the AMC exams after I settle in.

Your candid advice will be well appreciated.
@actinium, in addition, you can only land and come back if you got 189 or 190 visa. 491 wont allow you do that cos you will need to meet the requirement for 191 PR after 3 years
TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by tunlex01(m): 1:52pm On May 30, 2020
mamatwiny:
I think this is wrong for 190 and 491. That point you are seeing there for 190 is for family sponsored 190 and not for state sponsored stream. State can give you invitation with less than 90 as long as they are sponsoring your occupation and that you meet other requirements; for eg, some require you must have atleast one year job experience, some may state you must have worked in the noc not more than 3 years ago, some 5 years experience, English language requirement like proficient or superior English etc. The conditions are expressly stated in their websites. They state if your noc is eligible for 491 or 190. Lots of provinces doesn't need job offer. It is only NT , that may need a job offer

Though the cut off for 190 family sponsored has not gone below 90 for sometime now,it does not mean it cannot go below that. Qualified ppl should just enter pool as anything can happen.

You can use anzsco search to check the state sponsoring your occupation, their requirement and which visa class they sponsor for your sol

Belong and tunlex01, abeg come and clarify these points ooo.
IT's family sponsored 491 not 190.
190 does not have family sponsorship route from DHA.

Lislekelsey:
Hi guys. To help the people calculating their points better. And to avoid Bellong having to answer too many posts... Pls read carefully

Since the November 2019 change in points, anyone applying newly CANNOT APPLY WITH LESS THAN 90 POINTS FOR visa 190, and visa 189, 85 points for visa 491. People doing ICT, Engineering or Accounting courses will need 95 for visa 189 too.

.... so unless you have the requirements for 491 which mostly includes a job offer, you need to have 90 points to qualify for visa 190. And 90 for visa 189.

Here's an attached pic for march 2020 Australian immigrants points structure.

So.... 65 points iss now a myth. Thank you
65 is not a myth, few people have gotten ITA for 491 with 65 points and more. The image you posted is only for 189 and family sponsored 491 which is different from the state/regional 491.

190 and 491 have different criteria per state and per occupation.

Right, But will the one year as head of contact center guarantee a positive vetassess assessment considering the fact that one needs about 5 years experience to get about 10 points on work experience? Will other years be considered as well?
Positive assessment is up to Vetassess assessor to decide.
Other years will not be considered for CSM role except your reference letter states you have been the head of contact center for many years.

Have worked as Head Contact Center for one year now and still counting . RM is Customer Relationship Manager. part of the job role is making sure customers are satisfied with services and if there are issues brought up by them concerning products or services, we resolve immediately and if we cant we escalate. Also making sure your subordinates are in line with this customer satisfaction policy
Okay. Your head of contact center role can still pass but a relationship manager cannot be a CSM cos you don't develop policies to improve service. It goes beyond customer satisfaction. The CSM role is typically an head office customer experience manager role not a branch role.

Please Bellong I need your candid advice. Also Tunlex01 I need you to wade in on this because I think you assessed through Vetassess. I have read the threads extensively and I still worry.
I have a bachelors degree in Law and a Post Graduate Certificate in Business administration. I have worked in the banking sector for 11 years. as an Executive Assistant, HR rep, Business Development Manager,Relationship Manager and presently Head Contact Center. I have thoroughly looked at the job role of a Customer Service Manager(After Bellong advised i look at it) and found out most of the tasks there, I performed as BDM and RM. Also all the job roles I am doing now as the Head Contact Center.

Now my worry is my degree which is Law and a 5 year program, I read that if I don't have a highly relevant qualification I must give up about 3 years of my work experience to Vetassess. That's not a problem too, but I also read for you to have a positive assessment from Vetassess, you must have a highly relevant qualification and work experience in your nominated occupation. Somewhere on this thread I read that Vetassess is not giving positive assessment if you don't have a highly relevant qualification and work experience on a nominated occupation and this scares me.

Having analyzed Vetassess' case scenarios on their website, especially the case of a Computer Analyst, who worked as a Store Manager and later became a Restaurant Manager and nominated the occupation ''Restaurant Manager'', I know I have a chance but what I read on this thread about people's assessment experiences worry me

Please guys I need you to critically analyze this for me before I go in for assessment. I am willing to take the risk. Its better than not trying at all. Other experienced guyz can also contribute. Thanks
How long have you been head of contact center?
You can't be a Relationship manager or branch manager and assess as a CSM. They are not related.

You get 2 years post study visa if you study a course that is 2 years and above.

I hope with that am gonna get my full 15 points for Educational qualifications.

I read here that Nigerian Unis are categorized into Tiers. and if your Uni is a tier 2, your 4 year bachelor degree could be downgraded to an advanced

diploma. Don't know how true that is, so please guys I need your clarifications. Thanks.
Delsu is a tier 2 however you will get your 15 points for d law degree.

If you apply for MLS to AIMS, even if you haven't written the exam, you will be given Medical laboratory technician MLT. Your result will be upgraded to MLS if you write the exam, however you can still apply for nominations with the MLT result. When you get your grant and land, you can pursue the MLS.

Also I ran a mock assessment test on visa bureau website. I don't have work experience but I'm learning French so I filled French as my designated language and I got 65 points on 189 visa

Besides is experience really that important?

Thanks sir
Not to burst your bubble....you will still need verifiable 3 years experience post-qualification to assess as a Plumber or any TRA course.

Guys, please i need expert advice on my 491 subclass skill assessment predicament below;

I am a sales manger, I am interested in immigrating through the 491 subclass, the assessment agency for my skill which is IML National seems to indicate on their site and on the assessment application form , that assessment will only be for senior sales and marketing manger with at least 8 to 10 years continuous work history is required for assessment.
I have just 6 years continuous work history.

I would like expert advice on this....Thanks
You can't assess as a Sales manager if you are not a senior manager directly reporting to your MD while meeting other criteria set by the assessing body.
Check the occupation list to check out other occupations you can assess.
The last time I checked, it's AIM not IML National

Afternoon everyone, I have been a silent reader and thumbs up to everyone for providing guidance and assistance to people like us.
I and my friend began this PR journey and while I will be assessing with AITSL that seems straightforward, she is a University lecturer assessing with VETASSESS. She just submitted her application for priority processing but was however rejected for fast track due to her having a Phd qualification which needs to be properly verified

Education Qualifications
BSc (Tier 2) – 2008
MSC – 2010
Phd - 2016

Work experience
University Tutor – 2010 -2013
University Lecturer -2013 till date

We are considering telling the assessor not to assess the Phd so as not to delay the outcome and probably save on years of experience because reading through the thread shows VETASSES not to be predictable with approved employment duration.

Is this step advisable, considering the state (NSW) she is targeting requires 5years employment and an assessment of both qualification and employmenta you are claiming points is required before applying?

Please advise @bellong @tunlex01 and everyone, she needs to reply soon. Thank you.
Send them email not to assess the Phd. She shouldn't have submitted the Phd in the first place.
She should still be able to claim the Phd even without assessing it with Vetassess. If she's not comfortable with that, it's best she loses the 5 point from Phd and get it from the experience. That will help her NSW 491 nomination if it opens.

Any one take on this
The choice is yours. Whatever you decide, just remember these things:

1. time waits for no one in the theory of migration, especially with this unprecedented Covid19 pandemic and its effect on Australia migration statistics
2. there are thousands of people ready and waiting to launch a nomination application in July when the new year starts. Ask people who missed out in July last year their experience.

Best of luck mate.
