Education / Re: Nigerian Students Sue Alabama College For Treating Them ‘like Animals’ by Twoboys: 1:11pm On Sep 07, 2016
At this stage of our National development, we need to prioritize scholarship and what we intend to use such to achieve. Granting government scholarship abroad to study social works does not seem like the right priority for a nation set for development. Our focus for such programs should be in pure sciences and technology.

My guy, just like you, I have more admiration for this man before he became governor. I must confess though, that I still admire him a lot.
He has very radical thoughts and views about governance, but will require understanding and good support to carry through.
I wish most state government, especially the poor states will adopt this stand...visit most of these offices you will be surprised at the level of redundancy...these guys just sit in and rot away wasting vital time doing nothing most of the time. Time that could be truly invested in other profitable ventures.

And yet he is planning on recruiting additional 3,000 civil servants to the already redundant ones?

Current bulk of civil servants are not productive, but idle minds using official hours for personal stuffs. Solution is to reduce official work hours(days) and use the remaining official hours(days) for a compulsory unprovided for, unsupervised and unspecific agricultural activities which will not be measurable. Yet you planning on hiring additional 3,000 persons into the same service, at a time wage bills are out of hand.Really?
What about using training and adequate supervision, couple with enforcement of existing disciplinary rules in the service to build efficiency in the service. What about supporting existing and intending farmers in the state who are struggling with many challenges, so as to improve agricultural activities in the state.

How well meaning is Mr Giwa for Nigerian football? He has been through this road before, he knows this route is unacceptable to FIFA, the next next is FIFA sanction on Nigeria as a country. A ban by FIFA will jeopardize the chances of our women, youth and senior teams at playing in any FIFA recognised tournament. Yet this will serve the selfish interest of a few.
Education / Re: Nigerian Students Abroad Are On Their Own - Buhari by Twoboys: 1:40pm On Mar 07, 2016
I think Government need to first ask and answer the question of what is responsible for this unprecedented urge for Parents to send their wards abroad for education. Parents making the huge sacrifice to give their children good education abroad are the ones subsidizing our future development as a country. When Mr President recently sacked 13 VCs of universities and replaced them with persons who were recommended by political party, as admitted by the minister of education before the house of representative committee. This are some of the things that has put our educational system in the mess it is. If only Mr president children were schooling in any of those university, then he would be more objective in choosing a VC for that university, through a open and competitive process that would ensure the best brain and most qualify is appointed.

Education / Re: Unilag Student Electrocuted To Death Yesterday Night by Twoboys: 1:15pm On Sep 09, 2015
My sympathy to the family, friends and school mates. Her death should be a wake up call for authorities to do more at ensuring the integrity of national infrastructures, like these high tension poles. When you drive through towns you see very troubling images of such poles, either washed up by erosion or having loosed supporting structures. This portend grave danger for public safety. Even the quality of construction and materials used in recent installations remains doubtful. On my way to Calabar recently, i saw over 4 collapsed newly installed high tension poles which were yet to be commissioned.
Alot more attention need to be paid to public safety. Incidence like this need to be independently investigated, and where culpability is establish such should be fined or even imprisoned. This would serve the purpose of deterrent and feedback for improvement of the system.

For a man aspiring to be Nigeria's president, i see "supposedly" Igbo interest as his only motivation. That is if what the OP posted is true, which in that case make him not good enough. Its high time, politicians stopped playing the ethnic card to fool us, let them focus on the common problems of poverty, corruption, insecurity, unemployment and general under-development defining the entire landscape of our country. I am so tired of this zoning or no zoning, christian-moslem or moslem-moslem ticket that is currently dominating our political discussions to the detriment of the real issues holding us down as a nation.

If the workers of a public agency are defaulting in paying their tax and the agency has been found to be responsible for such failures, its not right to punish the travelling public for that(it does not serve public interest). There are options of fine and even imprisonment for heads of such agency, rather than act in such a way that infringe on peoples freedom of movement and general public good. The airport is meant to serve the people of Edo state.
Politics / Re: Senator Pius Ewherido is Dead by Twoboys: 11:52pm On Jun 30, 2013
Pls, Urhobo nation has suffered enough division. Lets not use the tragic death of our hero to create further division through dangerous speculation.
blink182: The first possible cause of death has come in(food poisoning at the hands of his party men in DPP) and we were wrong. Amori isn't to blame, instead fingers are pointing in the direction of Ogboru as Ewherido is his major foe come 2015.

I have been saying it that ehwerido will end ogboru's still born political career in 2015 as he is a better choice.

For now, my source is very reliable but I won't create a trail for anyone to verify anything. Ughelli has virtually come to a stand still, Ewhu town is in mourning and we can't but wait for further revelations to unfold.

Also, remembered one of the early rescuer at the scene telling us of a graduating student of Babcock university calling one of the found mobile phone to confirm their position and while they were taking long in coming.Must commend the efforts of those courageous nigerians who were able to rescue 5 persons from the burning bus, before the size of the flame overwelm them. May the souls of those departed rest in peace..and may God comfort the bereaved. Too sad
Politics / Re: PDP Governors Reject Amaechi's Election by Twoboys: 7:11am On May 25, 2013
As a Nigerian, my pleasure is that the interest of Nigeria is being served. The NGF has in most recent times grown to become a cabal that foist her wish on the entire nation and fustrate any meaningful reform that will affect their selfish interest. A lot of folks have continued to pray for GOd to deliver us from this cabal called NGF. Today i see that deliverance, jus like when men develop "smart" idea to play GOD in the bible in the building of TOWER OF BABEL. God gave them a discordant tone to sing. This exactly is the happenning with NGF and it is in the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians.
Politics / Re: PDP Governors To Release Jonathan’s One-term Pact by Twoboys: 8:58pm On Feb 19, 2013
Fellow nigerians not again should we allow the same issue of should a man contest or not be the focus of our debate for 2015 elections. This only divide us and brings up undue sentiment and sympathy. GEJ is jus one man whose capacity or otherwise at governance can now be fairly judge.Nigerians should make their choice on capcity not such stuffs as agreements made or not made in the secret with some group of persons against the provisions of our constitution.

Politics / Re: ACN Releases List Of Merger Committee by Twoboys: 1:18pm On Jan 21, 2013
I can understand the fact that politicians must pursue their interest, in which there are no permanent friends or enemies. So the coming together of these people(politicains)which by the way is not permanant, should not be the basis of our hope of excitement. The question is the interest, which in my view goes beyond power must change hands to what and how these groups intend to use power for our good. This must form the foundation for any discussion of merger, otherwise this move can finally mark the end of any meaningful opposition in Nigeria whether to PDP or this new group to emerge.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Troops Ill-equipped For War In Mali! by Twoboys: 12:27pm On Jan 21, 2013
I rather will align my views with the internationally acknowledged brilliant and impressive performance of Nigerian armed forces in peace keeping missions world wide. Awards and recocognitions abound to this fact from the UN. So loud are these acknowledgement that even Nigerians have often wondered what is responsible for the excellent perfomance of our armed forces on foreign missions when we dont seem to see same from them back home. I really dont think history or current performance of Nigerian troops in foreign duties in sudan support this article. I believe in our troops capability for mission like this and they have my prayers in doing to others what we want them to do unto us. God bless the nigerian armed forces for the sacrifices they keep making under extreme conditions to keep us safe.

Check the trend and history, every nigerian accused of corruption always turn the issue into an accusation of persecution due to political, enthnic, religious of business orientation. Why not focus on the issue, explain your role in the subsidy scam and clear your name rather than name calling and blackmails.
Politics / Re: Oil-Wells Crisis About 2015 Election - Amaechi by Twoboys: 6:09pm On Nov 06, 2012
For an issue that has been on since 2002 and a supreme court jugement deciding on it among others, its very misleading to drag in politics to this. Amaechi should face the issue and stop blackmailing the president with his ambition and politics of 2015. Of all people, Amaechi should know that power belongs to God as is emergence as governor and failure of his predeseccessor Odili to clinch the presidency has shown. Even if there is a 2015 Agenda, is Amaechi banking on Rivers state allocation to run is ambition?
Politics / Re: Remodeled Lagos Airport Terminal Finished, To Be Commissioned by Twoboys: 11:16am On Oct 20, 2012
Thanks for the links, i find it very informing. At least progress is being made

taharqa: The fruits of Mr Presidents 'Transformation' are beginning to show more. In a few weeks/Months, more Rail lines, Airports, Roads, Inland Seaports, Dams etc ought to be commissioned.

This airport is one of the 11 airports cut across the nation that were chosen to be completed Remodeled/Reconstructed to Modern terminals from the sorry states that most were( most of them have not been touched since they were constructed more than 30 years ago). Already apart from this lagos terminal, the terminals in Benin, Owerri and Kano are virtually complete and should be commisioned this month or next, while the others are generally more than 80% cmplete.

Remodeeling work should start in the other set of 11 airport by year's end or early next year.

To see the changes in these airports from the old to the new states, read:

I must admit that the Bakassi saga is most unfortunate and i sympathsize with all nigerians in general and the people of Bakassi in particular. However, the truth be told that a lot of emotions are understandbly going with this and most of our actions and reactions have been driven by emotions. This is a legal matter now and the critical decisions required to be made by our leaders MUST be legally informed and viable. Am not a legal person and as such can not take a view, but am sure if this was a personal matter i will be seeking legal advise with the pro and con fully understood after which the right decision, not political or emotional decision would be made.If such legal advice to the government has been convincily against an appeal, then all efforts, time, money and other resources should rather be dedicated to re-settling our people in a decent and befitting environment. Other meaningful alternative would be dialogue with cameroun as to getting the rights of our people protected.

To say this is gruesome is an understatement, is this who we have become? What is the value of human life in today's Nigeria? Without making any excuse,we must address the failure of police and the entire justice system to deal with crime, these failures are forcing our people into all terrible forms of extra judicial acts. May God help us.

It makes a whole lot of a good reading, but it just goes without saying that any parent who did not work hard for their achievement cannot teach their children otherwise. Even if they want to, they just lack the moral right to.
