The marriage is already a goner. She should not tolerate a blatant cheat who thinks he has a right to treat her worse than dirt because he is a “tech bro”. My advice is she lays low, gets here and then tosses him out to his mistresses and find a better human to give her body to.

This is not “guys lifestyle” and millions of men are faithful in marriage.

Is unfair for him to do this but the truth remains that you hardly see a man who don’t cheat but that doesn’t mean they don’t love their wife , men are wired that way. I will advise you to trade with caution and stop listening to anyone with information that will destroy your marriage. Make sure you be with your husband as soon as you are done with youth service. If possible don’t discuss anything like you are cheating on me etc it will create impressions for him to start suspecting you. Is important to know that wife can forgive a cheating husband but husband can never forgive a cheating wife.

1. Men are not wired to cheat anymore than women are.
2. The only person actively destroying her marriage is her husband.

Please allow the middle class make independent decisions for their own offspring… they are not obligated to stay in the same country ruined by your so-called “businessmen”.

I understand how you feel about your visa refusal and I can totally relate. It may be easy to judge from the whole transcript you wrote here and the I-20 you presented, however, I believe there is much more to it than that. Factors like how confident you were when answering their questions, maintaining eye contact, giving the right information based on what you filled in your DS-160, and much more. Another thing is, did you get a chance to attend mock sessions or ask the intellectuals here to test your level of preparedness before setting out for the interview? Did you practice your response with people and genuinely ask for their input on your performance? Also, did you get help with filling out your application form correctly? These are just a few things I can point out, and I hope you get your approval on your next try.

Yeah, that personal statement is poor. You say zero about the program, what particular disciplines interest you and why. Nothing about your background and how this prepares you for your course. Rather seems that this us just an opportunity for you to get out of your country.

Too many people make confident statements without having a clue what they are talking about. A ~$15k monthly gross pay is about ~$180k per annum. It isn't bloated and is typical for folks in the tech industry, depending on which company they work for. Police officers in NYC can earn more than that.

At best, we can only speculate as to why the VO denied his application... we cannot "maintain" anything, nor is it incontestable, as we were not there.

As a software engineer working in the US, I know a couple of SWE friends and colleagues (mostly in FAANG) who make more than this every month. So I don't think the VO felt that figure was over-bloated. Just because you do not make such figure, you shouldn't assume that tech guys in the US are not being paid that amount of money, especially for someone like his brother with over 10years of work experience in tech.

True. But also depends on location. $300k in the Bay Area is not the same in Idaho or Austin, Texas.

By my math, you brother makes between $180k- $190k. $15,000 a month is his gross income. Net monthly income will be <$10,000. If your brother has a family, it’s unlikely he wants to devote all that pay to your education.

VO: okay, so who is finding this program
Me: my parents and brother
VO: what do they do for a living starting with your brother
Me: my brother is a cyber security expert at XYZ(big multinational TECH company), my mum is a textile trader and my dad retired as a GM of a company into his commercial farming business
VO: what is their monthly income
Me: my brother’s annual income...
VO: no I want his monthly income
Me: oh his monthly income is about $15,000, my mum’s monthly depends on the quantity of textiles sold a month but about N2.5m and my dad is in his harvest period and this month alone he made N20m from sales of his produce

You’re already a lawyer… which means you completed undergrad, law school and practicing. You don’t really need a masters program.

He or she is fooling you. An invitation is a waste of paper, the visa officers will adjudicate your application based on whether they think you and your wife are qualified for a visa.

Yeah, reaching someone at that embassy is a job in its own. I did start the renewal process online and your right, you need the NIN to actually get the appointment. I'm going to reach out to the guy who came to my city and see when they are coming back. This process should be easier. Thanks, appreciated.

Edit, I hate to do it, but wondering if a VISA would be more efficient. And then sorting the passport and NIN out when I land.

Did you look into the visa process? How easy is it? My passport has also expired and having to get a NIN before renewing is looking like a daunting task.

A very senior banking in my former place of work. Who earns between 700k. Resign, sold some of his property to finance his travel.. today my former colleague is doing two jobs just to be able to take care of his family... The quality of his life there, can not be compared to when he was here... It's damn easier to make it here...take a personal vacation/business vacation to this country and get your brain refresh with new ideas.

Yes, it is easier to make it in Nigeria... if you have connections to fraudulently get you contracts. Other countries are far less corrupt, which is why it is relatively harder for Nigerians to "make it" there.

Perhaps my most appreciated part of being out of Nigeria is the ease by which you can move around the world. Just today, I got an impromptu work request to fly to Switzerland on less than a week's notice... first class, all expenses paid (for those who think everyone out here is working at Mcdonald's). I was able to book a ticket, flying through Canada and the UK without having to worry about needing a visa, or anything else other than my bag. With a Nigerian passport, it would be virtually impossible to travel on less than 3 months' notice. All I need is to show up at the airport with my passport... here is what a Nigerian would need, just to apply for a visa...

1. Application form
2. Copy of all valid Schengen, UK, US, and Canadian visas
3. Original and photocopy of COVID-19 vaccination certificate
4. Visa fee (N36,000)
5. If self-employed: introduction letter; business incorporation certificates and memorandum, original (to be returned) and photocopies; company bank statement and personal bank statement, three months back, stamped and signed by the bank
6. If employed: introduction letter from the employer with indication of the start date of employment, the annual salary, the granted leave period and the resumption date; salary slips of the three last months; personal bank statement, three months back, reflecting salary slips, stamped and signed by the bank
7. If unemployed: introduction letter with indication of source of livelihood; personal bank statement, three months back, stamped and signed by the bank
8. Hotel reservation
9. Appropriate flight reservation / booking, including return flight
10. Detailed itinerary from date of arrival to departure within Switzerland/Schengen territory
11. Proof of international travel insurance. The insurance shall be valid throughout the territory of the Schengen Member States and shall cover the entire period of the person’s intended stay or transit. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30’000. Cost approximately 300 euros/year/person.
