omolewa1984jyde: Good afternoon everyone,
I tried to pick date for my F2 visa appointment yesterday but I saw January 20th, 2022 as the earliest date. That really scared me.
I really don't know what to do.
Should I pick the date and apply for emergency. I know Lagos is not attending to any emergency application.
OR
Should keep monitoring and hoping they would release some dates in July or August.
Kindly share your opinions. Thank you. An F2 visa application is not an emergency, wait until January 2022. You don’t want to appear desperate. |

omokennyoguns20: PLEASE NOTE: You can only use your old passport to book an appointment and must be 100% sure d new one will be ready before your interview date (very risky). If your interview date comes before the new passport is ready, YOU CAN'T go to the embassy with a passport that does not have at least 6months to expiration. This isn’t true. The 6- month validity is only applicable when you fly, not at time of visa application. |

Tshendy: Good evening everybody,
My wife F2 visa was denied today at US consulate in lagos. The following was what transpired between her and the VO.
VO: Good morning and pass your document
Wife: Good morning sir (she passed the document)
VO: I can see you are going to join your husband at the university of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
Wife: Yes sir
VO: when did he leave the country
Wife: he will be leaving on the 1st of august, 2021 as his program starts by august 11
VO: So your business is tommyshendy. Tell me about it
Wife: yes sir. Itbis a registered fashion business that deals with production and sales of different types of female clothes. We also train people on clothes making.
VO: How come your husband never talked about this
Wife: He didnt talk about it because the business in mine and there is no where is the DS-160 form where one is required to fill spouse occupation. He was not also asked during his interview
VO: So why didn't you apply together
Wife: I initially planned to join him at the later time after he would have gone but after thinking about the benefit of going with him, we both agreed to go together. We feel going together will give emotional stability to concentrate on his studies, it will reduce the number of time he might want to be spending on phone with me been his wife and thereby giving him more time for his research. Going with him will also reduce his expenses and that he will also enable us to focus on our marriage been a young marriage
VO: how do you think it will reduce his expenses
Wife: I believe he won't have to pay for his accommodation in the US and be paying for mine in Nigeria. Cooking a single meal that we will eat together will also reduce expenses on groceries.
VO: What is your husband plan after his studies
Wife: His plan is to cone back to Nigeria to take up a lecturing role at Babcock university where he currently work
VO: when did you get married
Wife: March 28th, 2020.
VO: I am sorry, you do not qualify for a VISA this time around.
Please we don't know what went wrong. She is planning to reapply. Please any advice for us will be appreciated. Thanks There's a whole lot wrong here: 1. When you applied, did you use your wife staying back as part of your home ties? That might explain why the VO is asking why you didn't apply together. Let's be clear, no one makes the decision to stay back in Nigeria then decide to move to the US on a whim - it is a carefully thought-through plan. Which suggests that you deliberately chose to apply separately. 2. Your wife claims to have a business, but is just fine leaving it all alone to make dinner for her husband? 3. Your answer regarding how being together is less expensive doesn't make sense. Your wife is not permitted to work on an F2 visa... so your only source of income in the US is your stipend if any. If she were in Nigeria, you could share expenses since she will be running her business. Bear in mind, the VO is also aware that costs of living are far higher in the US than Nigeria. |

Anyone truly interested in top class public health programs would try Johns Hopkins or Harvard. The VOs aren’t stupid. A glance at the USNews list of US public health programs has ETSU at #82. These are facts that would be valuable to know at your interview. |

VO: Where are you going to
ME: I am going to Wichita State University for my masters degree in Industrial Engineering
VO: What will this course do for you?
ME: This course will give me the requisite knowledge to join my Dad in his expansion plans, he plans to expand his business nationally and needs my expertise to make it easier. I talked extensively and she was nodding
VO: What does your dad do?
ME: He is into construction and real estate
VO: How much does he earn monthly
ME: 2-3 mill per month
She gave the blue paper and told me the reason for disapproval with 214b. reason is no strong home ties
I am planning on reapplying immediately because school resumes Aug 10
How do I go about this and how do I make my case stronger next time I reapply. It doesn’t appear that you have a current job. Also you’re intending to join your fathers’ business based on planned expansion, which may or may not happen. I think that’s your weak point. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Is This USA Conference Invitation Genuine? by TWoods(m): 1:56pm On Jun 28, 2021 |
Mille: Sophisticated scam.
RED FLAG
1. The said conference will be in Dallas while the said hotel accomodation will be in Houston. The cities are at least 3 hours apart.
2. Why will a conference even pay for your visa and flight fees? It's normally the other way round.
3. The said hotel has no visible online presence, apart from it's website which I believe was created for the sole purpose of scamming. No reviews or nothing. Big red flag for an hotel said to host conference delegates.
4. The said hotel is missing on google map. The said address of the hotel is actually a residential street.
5. Your visa documents will be processed here in the United States and the approval letter of your visa will be sent to the U.S Embassy in your country for the collection of your visa. . This is the biggest red flag of all. Spot on. Just did the Dallas-Houston drive this weekend. It’s 3-5 hours depending on your route. You’re not driving that every day. |

knoph2007: Good day all,
I am a prospective applicant for Fall 2022 Phd. I have ND-Upper credit, HND-Upper credit, Bsc-4.19/5 all Accounting and Msc Finance- 2018- 3.93./5. I am a qualified accountant with like 10 years experience. I scored Q-161 V-143 AW3 304 from gre. Though I am hoping to write gmat exam. However, I have no publication. Is my chance of getting Phd Economics, Finance or Accounting that good without publication? You don't need any publication. In my view, you have a stellar resume (as long as you ace the GMAT). 10 years of experience as a qualified accountant is more than most applicants to your program can bring to the table. As part of your application, I would write a detailed statement of purpose, describing your work experience (any key highlights, certifications, memberships, any work outside Nigeria), and why the Ph.D. is important in your career progression. Many Ph.D. programs are looking for applicants with the types of practical skills you bring, not so much how many publications you have. You'll be writing plenty of that once you start your Ph.D. program. |

But you can imagine how VOs might be suspicious that everyone now has a rich uncle who can't wait to sponsor you to school in the US to the tune of thousands of dollars. That uncle has children too. Blatant fraud isn’t a good thing. Being denied a visa isn’t an excuse… you’re not the only one. Bear in mind, when you post here asking for solutions, you should understand a few basic facts: 1. VOs read these pages - it is a window into the minds of the people they interview everyday. So good luck ruining it for others. 2. Posting here asking for advice is premised on the fact that every response you get won’t be exactly “nice” to you. If that’s all you want, a blog might serve you better. |

Phenomenalmau: Hello house. Please help solve my case, I’ve been to the US embassy twice on b1/b2 visa but was denied in 2017, minutes despite claiming I was married just to show ties although truly I was never married. Then later I got married in 2019 to my husband who’s a permanent resident of Canada, we filed for spousal visa, but we’ve been on it ever since, I guess the application is stuck, so we decided to try US student visa and I recently gained admission into university of Arkansas at Little Rock, and we are about to process my i20, I’m confused who to use as sponsor? Either my husband or my dad, my husband is a permanent resident of Canada and he has entered US by road few times, while my dad and mom are divorced, though my mom remarried and her husband died, I remember my mom filled widow on her DS-160 then, my mom has been to the US few times and has never overstayed, and she doesn’t bear my father’s name on her passport. I also don’t bear my father’s name on my passport too, I’m using my husband’s name, I’m worried if I can use my father as my sponsor, I’m worried the consular might think my father is my mom’s husband that died, and I feel I can’t use my husband cause he’s not based in Nigeria, please help clear my confusion You have several problems: Who did you enter as your husband when you applied for a visiting visa? You have an application for permanent residency in Canada. If the VO finds out, it will be a straight denial. My best advice - forget about schooling in America and get your spousal visa done. It is strange that you say it’s stuck. What does that mean? Why don’t you get that settled rather than waste time, money and effort pursuing an education that you don’t really want? I have a feeling your current “marriage” is no better than your previous claim. |
