Enigma: ^^^ Of course you can choose to keep contradicting Jesus Christ because you must subscribe to the idiotic argument of the Roman Catholic Church. smiley

A Christian Community is a Christian Church and is Jesus' Church. wink

Jesus did not say His church must be subject to some "pope" or some "ordained" bishop. Thankfully! smiley

cool
tell me a new joke. If the church didn't need bishop tell me why christ had apostle and why those apostle seem really interested in making bishop every city.besides u are the one with a quote of how the catholic church is a gatherinp around a bishop.
You take pleasure in contradicting yourself.

Enigma: 1. You contradict yourself again of course! How can a Christian community not be a Christian Church? Except in warped Roman Catholic logic of course. lol grin

2. This is what I said before: A person who says a "Christian community" is not Jesus' Church is talking of someone else's "contradictions"! lol grin

smiley
that is because you simply do not understand the terms i use. A christian community is a coming together of people who believe in christ and are baptised in his name. Like a fellowship. When i use the word church i'm refer to that community under a validly ordained bishop and thus can enjoy the fullnes of the sacraments. As you are aware, i consider most protestant churches of having only valid baptism. I call them xtian communities not 'church'.
So be informed,

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" (1 Peter 2:9).

If you ordain yourself a priest, you will see the cultism there but it will be too late for you to come out, else you will be killed. Please brother, save your soul from eternal condemnation am telling you the truth Beleive pls
hahaha are you a comedian, ocultism in the priesthood? U must be joking. God made every christian priest and as a catholic i believe that but he didn't make everyone a prebyter. An ordained priesthood has alway existed in the church. Through the laying of hand God has continued to make stewards and guide for his people, teachers of his mysteries and leaders in his worship.

Christianity Etc › Pope Calls For World Day Of Fasting And Prayer For Syria, Condems War. by Ubenedictus(op): 8:52pm On Sep 01, 2013
VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis called Sunday for the world to unite in a day of
fasting and prayer for Syria and said "God and history" would judge anyone
using chemical weapons. "May the cry for peace enter the hearts of everyone," the pope told tens of
thousands of pilgrims at his traditional weekly blessing in the Vatican. "I condemn with particular force the use of chemical weapons. I still have in my
mind and heart the terrible images of the past days," he said. "There is judgment from God and history on our actions that no one can escape,"
he said, in his first explicit reference to the chemical arms claims. He urged the international community to make "every effort" to begin a process
of dialogue in Syria. The pope said he would lead the prayers with a five-hour vigil in St Peter's
Square on Saturday, just two days before the US Congress meets to debate
possible strikes by the United States on Syria. The relatively rare call for a global day of fasting and prayer was similar to one
made by late pope John Paul II following the September 11 attacks in 2001,
Vatican expert Luigi Accattoli told AFP. Although he did not apportion blame for the alleged chemical attack, the pope's
reference to divine judgment was also similar to John Paul II's call for members
of the Italian mafia to confess their crimes and repent, Accattoli said. His exhortation "Never again to war!" echoed a famous speech made by another
of his predecessors, Paul VI, at the United Nations during the Vietnam War. The pope's call came as the United States, France and other countries were
making plans for a limited armed response against Syrian President Bashar al-
Assad's regime over its alleged use of chemical weapons. The Vatican has repeatedly pushed for a negotiated solution to the conflict and
has already criticised plans by global powers for an armed intervention. It has been more cautious, however, than some Christian leaders in Syria and the
region who have openly defended the current Syrian government seeing it as a
guarantor of a multi-religious state. Christian minorities are concerned about the rise of radical Islam in the region
and point to the example of Iraq, where there has been an exodus of Christians
faced with violence and discrimination. "My heart is profoundly wounded in these days by what is happening in Syria
and I am anxious about the prospect of dramatic developments," the pope said. "War leads to more war, violence to more violence," he said, voicing hope that "a
chain of commitment for peace will unite all women and men of good will." "Never again to war!" the pope said in his emotional speech, echoing a call made
by late pope Paul VI at the United Nations during the Vietnam War. The pope said he extended his invitation to push for peace in Syria to all
Christians and the faithful from other religions, as well as non-believers. "With all my strength, I call on the warring parties to listen to the voice of their
own consciences, not to close themselves in their own interests but to look on
the other as a brother," he said. Saturday's prayers in St Peter's Square will begin at 1700 GMT and end at 2200
GMT, he said.

Logicboy03: First of all, I am defending history, not the catholic church. The historical fact is that catholics compiled the bible

Secondly, one cant leave the catholic church

-your baptismal record will always be counted during summations of catholic numbers in the country or worldwide.
-unfortunatelty, the only available burial for me is between a choice of traditional pagan or catholic.........you knoew the preferable choice
-the catholic church has swag....richest of church with many influential peeps.....need it for business connections
not to spoil the flow but if u are a public atheist ie if other know u are an atheist and die with that disbelive, u wont recieve a catholic burial.

KDULAR: Kings are appointed by God , let us cut the crap, there's a Spiritual reason we have languages people kingdoms and kings and we need to respect and regard that what these kings do is immaterial God is God and he rules over the affairs of men. Seek of God the reason(s )and you'll there and then realize the insubordination and sin we've committed against God and His works in the name of religion. To me the Pope being spiritual understands more and only him could best say the reason he did that and this is somethong we all I mean all need to learn from. Mind you I Am not Of Catholic religion.
and pope take on spiritual authority thru peter, he is not subject to the kings, he thus shouldn't bow to them unless the post above is misleading.

Symphony007: What a disgrace. Francis has thrown the palpacy to the dogs. In the glorious days of the vatican, if a king is visiting the pope, he is stripped of all his jewels and fine clothings and made to wear a plain pilgrims cloak, then he is ushered into the sixtine chapel were the pope is seated upon his golden throne surrounded by senoir cardinals and swiss guards. As the king enters the chapel, the pope rises from his throne and proceed down the stairs when he gets to the bottom, the almighty king falls to the ground and kiss the pope's red shoe.

Their royal majesties, the king and queen of spain greet pope benedict.
this was on my mind. Those traditions are there for a reason, they are signs and symbols, if you contradict them without good reason then it may be interpreted in a contrary way. The pope shouldn't bow to any temporal ruler, the spiritual superseeds the temporal. I'll be very happy to see him bow to a begger but not before a queen.

I would have bugged your life about indicating interest if you had been online.

It's interesting to note that Catholics who seem to have the most at stake because of the insults we face, almost on a daily basis, are yet to produce one candidate for the job.

I guess you may be quite busy but if there is a way you can squeeze in moderating this section with your busy schedule, why not indicate interest?

Any Catholic who indicates interest MUST demonstrate some of the traits you have shown over time e.g He/She must have been fair to all.

PS: The only Catholic I have seen demonstrate this trait consistently over time, happens to be you.

for those who are asking what a priest is doing with a gun then i suggest u inform yourself about criminal activities against priest in edo state. Ever since fr john uba ofei was shot by robbers and died sometime after due to extended surgury complication robber have become frequent visitors to parish houses ever since. The frs and bros were attack in mary the queen ekpoma, fr ewah was attacked in holy trinity ewu and was heavyly beaten and tied, d next day he was in a hospital, just to name a few. Priest with good liscienced guns or and police night watchmen or some strong man is a normal development to stem the death and molestation of priest.
So yeah many priest have pump action and double barrel to defend themselves. I don't know how it happened but at first the people thought the priest was attacked until what seem to be an exploded gun was found. At the end Only one thing could be said with certainty fr ayala was dead and was discovered dead in the morning.
Probably he had a habit of loading his gun at night and unloading in the morning before morning mass, i don't really know but all who knew him really liked him, very simple.
Actually it seem like an accident.

Chrysostom agreed with me and more importantly with the Lord Jesus Christ that where two or three are gathered in Jesus' name, He i.e. the Lord Jesus Christ is with them. smiley

Christianity Etc › Re: Catholism- Focus On Mortification And Penance by Ubenedictus(m): 8:10pm On Aug 31, 2013
italo: Not much to add. I'm just glad to know that you went to a retreat. I pray God grants you many spiritual and material favours...both temporal and eternal.

St JoseMaria Escriva's book "The Way" was very intrumental in making me deepen my spiritual life because part of his outlook was that sanctity is a normal state. It's not so abstract. It is not for priests alone. The saints were not superheroes from another planet. You can be a saint right where you are. Just do everything with love for God and love for man. If you are a musical artiste, you can avoid the nudity and obscenity that others will not avoid...you can sing exclusively christian songs if the pop culture wont accept a decent artiste. If you are a business person, charge a fair price. Remind your customers if they forget their change with you. Do not restrict yourself to scheduled vocal prayer but let your daily activities be a continual prayer. E.g if you enter a bus and the conductor is being rude...suppress that urge to insult him because of God. That is prayer. When your gateman greets you, respond with love and a smile and even a gentle touch on the shoulder because he is God's son. When your friends gossip about someone, resist the urge to say the nasty things you know. If you cannot say nice things, remain silent. This even reminds me all too well that I am FAAÀAAAARRR from being a saint. How many times have I insulted people on nairaland when I should have avoided it with God's grace.

Sanctity is in the little things of every moment.

May the good Lord help us to cooperate with his grace and be SAINTS. Amen.

Did I say I had "not much to add?"

Lol
interesting, i thought i was the only one who benefited from reading that book.
Maybe with continous practice u may gain mastery over those urges
Christianity Etc › Re: Catholism- Focus On Mortification And Penance by Ubenedictus(m): 8:04pm On Aug 31, 2013
babestell: So I just returned from a long retreat organised by Opus Dei in one of their centers and the topic of mortification was discussed at almost all the meditation sessions. Mortification is one of the tools by which a christian may achieve sanctity/holiness. Remembering that our Lord enjoined us to be holy as our heavenly Father is holy. Other tools are constant prayer, dedication in our everyday activities, etc.

Saints are said to be people who did ordinary things in an extraordinary way. We too can aspire to be saints and thats where mortification comes in. St Jose Maria Escriva founder of Opus Dei wrote "don't say that person gets on my nerve rather say that person sanctifies (mortifies) me" we all know people who annoy us or get on our nerves or make us want to scream, as a mortification we can decide to be patient with such people, to be kind to them or to even have a conversation with them ( as long as it is not an occasion of sin). In our hearts we don't want to but because of love of GOD and a desire to become closer to him we do it and we offer it up as a prayer intention. As we continue in such practices after a while it may become 2nd nature and u find yourself doing it with ease. This is just an example. Another example might be to decide to do our jobs or normal daily tasks with more passion/love than we ordinarily do offering the extra effort as a prayer to Our Father in heaven.

St Jose also said "choose mortifications that don't mortify others" a mortification is a personal decision/action and we shouldn't make others suffer because we choose too. (I think parents should be exempt cos they have to train the kids.....just me talking sha). Now The Church teaches that not all suffering is bad, sometimes we need to suffer for the sake of a greater reward eg a student spending more time reading in order to pass an exam, and thats how we should view mortification, suffering this earthly body a little so that the spiritual being is more united with God, because it is usually in the midst of pain that we find it easier to put all trust in GOD.

Mortification must be done with LOVE: Love of God and of our neighbour if not we would just be like the pharisees who follow letter if the law without living the spirit of the law. It is good to attach a prayer intention as well.

I hope I made sense sha. Anyone have anything else to add
weldone dear, beautiful! I alway liked st jose emphasis on santity according to our state in life, great post 100likes

"Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting.
