Not yet but I will get the document and read it.

Edit: I have a copy now and have scanned through http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/francesco/encyclicals/documents/papa-francesco_20130629_enciclica-lumen-fidei_en.html . Would read it in more details over the week.
hey,
Do not scan through, read that encyclical, it is really beautiful.

superior1: And you are the one with sight?. Myself and Italo have got a little history and you jumping in without that understanding makes you appear too hurry to make full sense.
i bet you guys have lot of history but that isn't an excuse to play hide and seek on nl.

The writings Italo showed if true are all talking of why real blood theory should have existed, showing it wasn't in operation for a time. And you thinking I do not know what am talking about is again a folly on your part. I can give you link to when the real blood theory was ratified as a Catholic doctrine and it was linked to Innocent 3.
sorry my dear, read italo's post again, those quotes show conclusively that when those writtings were made that "theory" was already in effect.

Besides the Biblical verse Italo posted do not talk of real blood theory (it was a position we both did not agree on).

So Mr., watch before leaping. I will be opening a thread on this and you can come with your hard facts and great inSIGHTS
no problem.

If this is real then its not really good, apart for making mockery of other peoples beliefs you scared an old man.

honeric01: Going back that passage, who then were given the power to forgive and retain sins? one person? the 12? all 70 disciples or everyone?

if humans can forgive and retain sins, why do we still need God to forgive our sins and what's the essence of the great judgement day for both the righteous and the wicked?
he breathed on those in that room.
Your last question sounds like "if we have Jesus why do we need others to pray for us?" it is simple, christ has allowed us, each as the spirit gives, to share in his ministry as king, prophet and king. That is why Jesus could tell those in that room, what sins u forgive are forgiven, he made them partakers of his ministry.

sorry if this sounds harsh, it seems you and italo are playing the game of the blind pursuing the blind, you claimed pope innocent invented the body and blood theory, italo proved you wrong by bringing out christian writtings as old as 110AD and yet you claimed it was italo who said that pope innocent invented the theory.
Who is playing with who? Are your kids playing with your NL account?

PHIPEX: The Bible is just too deep, I must confess that I've never taken note of this verse in the Bible and my Bible commentary regards it as one of the most controversial verse in the New Testament.

@OP, I care less if it works or not but since I know there is no repentance in the grave I'll rather pray for myself while am alive than depend on RIP prayers of well wishers at death.
yes there is no repentance in the grave but 1jn teaches that there are two types of sin, one that leads to death and others that don't, while your prayers may be of no effect for those who died in sins that lead to spiritual death it may be of help for those whose sins aren't deadly...
Or so i believe.
Christianity Etc › Re: Does Praying For The Dead Really Work? by Ubenedictus(m): 5:14pm On Jul 28, 2013
blink182: The moment a person dies, all I keep hearing is 'RIP'. I know it is written 'after death comes judgement'. Now is it possible that the prayers of people on earth can influence the divine judgement they deserve?
such prayers has no effect on whether or not the dead is going to heaven or hell? Once you are dead ur prayers can't save them from hell.
I believe in prayer for the dead but i do not believe such prayers can save a hell bound soul.

honeric01: If the sin is directly to God, a man can't forgive sins committed against God.

Same to you.
sorry my dear,
the bible tells me Jesus granted the power to forgive sins in his name. Jesus gave them his own ministry. Listen to what he said: "peace be with you, as the father sends me so i send you...recieve the holyspirit. Whose sins you forgiven them and whose sins you retain are retained".
Are you telling me that Jesus was sending them with the holyspirit not to forgive sins but to forgive faults?
Please read your bible again.

The Pope's Twitter account is @Pontifex and has over 2,600,000 followers, while its Spanish version is @Pontifex_es has nearly three million followers worldwide.

http://www.latinospost.com/articles/23964/20130719/pope-francis-forgive-twitter-followers-sins-online.htm
this is false information, nobody can forgive sins thru the twitter nor does the pope attempt to do so. What he grants is indulgence, nobody is asked to confess sins on twitter and nobody is retweeting anybody's sin.

shdemidemi: Is the truth stagnant or progressive.
Acts 18
24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.

As good a teacher as the bible described this man, what was his only downside in according to this verse?
i'll better leave this for your thread before i derail this thread.
Christianity Etc › Re: Will Christians Be Around During The Great Tribulation? by Ubenedictus(m): 2:49pm On Jul 28, 2013
cyril10: CAPITAL NO.

Once rapture takes place, all believers will be gone, the Holy Spirit wont be here again to restrain certain things, that is when the great tribulation will take place.
where did you get this teaching? The bible seems clear on the fact that christians will still be on earth during the great tribulation.
Christianity Etc › Re: Will Christians Be Around During The Great Tribulation? by Ubenedictus(m): 11:06am On Jul 26, 2013
Tgirl4real: Is the teaching of "Rapture" scriptural?

According to 11Thess 2, will Christians be around during the time of the antichrist?

Is "rapture" and the second coming of Christ one and same event?

Are we going to be part of the great tribulation?

Is Matt 24 referring to the Jews or to all Christians?
sorry the so called rapture preached today is a human invention that started around the 18th century. Christians will be alive during the great tribulation that is why revelations talk about a battle with the anti-christ.
The only "rapture" you should expect is the final judgement.
That is my take on the issue
Christianity Etc › Re: Virgin Mary's Image Seen In Edo At St Benedicts Catholic Church In Ubiaja by Ubenedictus(m):
Cherish100: The fact is that Jesus is no longer a baby. If Mary wants to appear, she should do so without carrying a baby along, because I wouldn't want to believe she is carrying Jesus. Jesus died at 33 years old and that was more than 2,000 years ago. So I would want to believe even if he doesn't grow older, he is an adult and not a child. I am sick and tired of all these so-called apparitions of Biblical figures. What is the objecive of them? For people to convert to Christianity or gullible people to turn those places to a sort of shrine for worship? The Priest clearly said Jesus would visit him that night, why did Mary come instead? Is she his representative? Let us endeavour to be reasonable please and let the Church paint their walls for goodness' sake.
Jesus is no longer on the cross but that never stopped paul from preaching a crucified christ.
Read between the lines.

Boomark: And where did you see me write these things? Una love for twisting the scriptures and people's innocent words is unfathomable. Smh!!! For those that don't know how to face the truth.

Its obvious you don't know what to say. "as a thought, a dream of God" when did God dream dreams about the woman being already in enmity with the devil? huh You are just imagining what you want.

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
Therefore the Lord himself shall giveyou a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

"A virgin shall conceive" you just identified a virgin that will give birth to a son. We are looking at the woman and the seed according to the promise. You cannot fix Mary in Rev 12. You are also telling the world that Mary is not part of God's children cos the seed includes Christ and all the children of God.

Eve was referred to as the woman, Gen 3:13. Adam called eve the woman v12. Does this make Eve the woman we are looking for? No! Of course Christ will come out of a woman not out of a man. Women give birth to children. Did you not see how i connected everyone involved in the promise? Do the same or you have nothing to offer.

Mary is not the woman, Jerusalem above is our mother and she is the woman.
and you are telling me that jerusalem above gave birth to a son! Try again.

I appreciate ur grasp of the doctrine of grace but I am uncomfortable with this two or more gospel U talk about. Can U pls open a thread to discuss this matter extensively without detailing this one? We will meet U there.

@Okeyz
Same with U as demi. I appreciate ur grasp of doctrine but this liberty with sex U talk about is not in keeping with holiness O. And this sort of talk is what makes the Judaizers on this forum claim that those who teach grace are lawless. Pls can U explain urself here or better still on a new thread?

shdemidemi: I use to believe it too bro. I am sure you agree the scriptures is our guide. We have one minister appointed to the gentiles by God. That is not saying we can't read the entire bible or a Jew individual can't accept Christ 'alone' minus the law and Jewish tradition.

I use to say "There is no difference between Peter's message and Paul's message." For goodness sake, there's so much difference it's like daylight and dark. I can give you contradictions between the two gospels (separate news of Christ) if you want.
tell me this is a joke two seperate gospels of christ. Tell me i didn't read that.
Christianity Etc › Re: An Invitation To A Theological Discuss On One Corinthians Chapter Four by Ubenedictus(m): 4:44pm On Jul 24, 2013
shdemidemi: I believe we both know that the gospel Jesus gave the disciples back in the days of his earthly ministry was 'Jesus is the son of God'. He told them to go out and share this gospel with Israelites only. Generally, the Jews are familiar with the scriptures, they know the meaning of who Jesus is trying to say he is back from the prophesies.

Being the son of God means he is the mighty God, everlasting father and the king of the Jews bringing kingdom of heaven on earth. If they did not kill Jesus, He would have ruled over just Israel and gentiles would have been condemned forever. Jesus instructed the disciples not to go the way of gentiles and even their half brothers, the Samaritans.

We know the story, they did not believe so they killed him. Things changed after he was killed, the gentiles became engrafted into the plan of God for man. There were secrets hidden in God behind the death and resurrection of Christ, was Peter and the others aware of this mysteries? No, they were still preaching 'Jesus is the son of God' to Israel until God opened Peter's eyes to see the gentiles are no more anathema to God.

Did Peter get the full secrets and mysteries? No, because God is going to pick up a Paul who would preach a gospel beyond 'Jesus is the son of God'. He would be taught by the risen Christ to propagate the story about the death burial and resurrection of Christ.

Please read Romans 11 to see where Paul calls the Jews to come into his gospel of GRACE aside the law
oh! Tell me! You are saying the gospel given to paul is different from the one given to peter, oh i disagree.
The apostle came to know the truth that the gospel was also for the gentiles thru the help of the holyspirit, but it is simply wow to say that implies their gospel as different.

Tgirl4real: well, that is bothering on another extreme...

Frosbel owes it as a responsibility to study this topic again not mindidng if he had studied it a million times before.

The divinity of Jesus is something I have never had cause to doubt, yet, I took it upon myself to search scriptures again when I read some contrary statements from him.

Ideally, the scriptures says we should not be 'toss to n fro by every wind of doctrine', but because Frosbel is someone I had read a lot of sound teachings from, I paused for a min to hear him out.

And he is very wrong on this matter.

Would it be too much for him to study it again? Do I smell pride?

This is one topic 'everyone one' this forum seem to be united on, despite the different positions on a whole lot of other topics. I am not saying this should be a yardstick, but it should certainly cause you to think.

Frosbel, u can't claim to be a follower of Christ and still deny his divinity or pre-existence.

Do the needful; study and repent.

I pray the Holy Spirit guide you. Amen
i pray he studies the topic again though i doubt he would.
Christianity Etc › Re: Brother Frosbel, Please Stop This Fight Against Trinity by Ubenedictus(m): 12:20am On Jul 23, 2013
debosky: I share many aspects of this view - the Catholic association as it were with the Nicene Creed which 'established' the trinity (in Frosbel's view) is at the root of his opposition. Unfortunately, the opposition is such that it requires you to discard scripture such as John's gospel in order to be valid.
i agree, because he sees the trinity as a catholic-cum-pagan invention the whole thing is just a myth to him. The nicean creed is simply a group of christians coming together to proclaim their shaired faith in a council held at nicea,
