vanstanzy: Bishops, abeg no vex abeg. Christ(God) is not ridiculed, and if He is, trust Him, He can fight for himself unlike... i didn't say it.
the bishops didnt say christ cant fight for himself, they simply highlighted to the newspaper the limits of freedom of expression. The image there doesnt belong to a footballer, it is a rather popular image and if i was good in arts i would have been able to tell u the artist that painted it, it is a crucifix. They removed the head and put that of the footballer while the body remained that of the crucifix. It is easy to see and the newspaper should use their rights well.

Pastor AIO: Interesting points that have got me thinking include what is said around 31:13. Christians wouldn't participate in public festivals and that made people suspicious of them. It got me thinking about the contrasts of religion as a Civic affair or as a Personal affair.

When a city or nation believes that it's welfare depends on the practice of certain religious festivals and rituals then that is Civic religion. But what happens when your civic duty clashes with your personal beliefs? Can you remain a good citizen of a city of you do not partake in civic rituals? It kinda remains me of an argument that a Moslem made a couple of months ago that apostates of islam can be tried for Treason only in a Moslem country. I can't remember the thread or who made the point but it made sense. If Islam is the state religion then apostasy amounts to Treason.
thats true, i think the early christians became...(i cant seem to get the word)...secluded and kept to themselves because of persecution.
Besides most people look at xtians d way nigerians look at bokoharam.

39:19 Which came first the Eucharist or the Theology of what it means? What did the first Eucharist really mean to those that partook?
i believe they came at the same time, in the last supper Jesus said "this is my body" "dis is my blood" paul tells his brother, "the blessing cup that we bless is a communion with the blood of christ"etc. The early bishop always hammered it into the head of the cathecumen that, that which look like visible bread is the body of christ and that which seem like wine is the blood of christ. When my time came to be taught i was taught same only with more words.
43:18 I have often asked if the term 'Logos' in Christian theology is to be understood in the same sense that the greco-romans understood the term. Tertullian apparently considered them the same. He said (to pagan philosophers): "God made this universe by his word reason and power. Your philosophers also agree that the maker of the universe seems to be the Logos, that is word and reason. This Word we have learned was produced by God so therefore is called the Son of God."

Shortly after that they make the interesting point that as christianity became more philosophical the theological aspects became as important or more important than the actual practice of the religion. this is a trend that has gone amok today whereby what makes you a christian is what you THINK about God rather than how you worship him and practice his will.
i think it has taken man 2000yrs to learn that words cant fully explain the divine. Philosophy and theology flare up wen spiritual men decided to put the spiritual realities in way that can be easyly understood and defended from error. After yrs of trying and looking 4 words to describe the spiritual we end up at the starting point. Our words cannot contain the reality, as the intellect goes on its quest we find that which it describes within our own relationship with God.
Christianity Etc › Re: My Problem With Karma (2nd Samuel 12 V 9-11). by Ubenedictus(m): 1:57am On Sep 30, 2012
The law of Karma states that what goes around comes back around. This means that whatever you do unto someone, good or bad, will be done back to you by someone else.

Now let’s consider the following sceneries, Blessing is married to Tom who happens to be having an illicit affair with Mary, a young undergraduate girl and Mary is very much aware that Tom is married but she doesn’t mind. After schooling, Mary falls in love with another young man, Jerry and eventually gets married to him.

If karma comes in to play, it means that some other girl, maybe Grace, would be sleeping with Jerry as payback for what Mary did to Blessing. My question now is would Grace be punished by Karma when she gets married or would she go free considering the fact that she was only being an instrument of karma to payback Mary.

In the bible, we read of a story about how King David killed Uriah and stole his wife, Bathsheba. God was off course angry with David and He sent his prophet Nathan to rebuke David and tell him of God’s intended punishment for such sin. 2nd Samuel 12 v 9-11, “why then have you disobeyed my commands? ........... You will see it when I take your wives from you and give them to another man; and he will have intercourse with them in broad day light”. Goodnews Bible
Having intercourse with another man’s wife is termed ‘ADULTERY’ which is clearly a sin against God. What now becomes the fate of the men that God would cause to have intercourse with David’s wives? Would they be punished for their adulterous act or would God overlook this sin simply because they are barely instruments of Karma? Does this mean sin is sometimes justified and unpunished when they are being used as payback to someone else? How can one know if the sin (not only adultery, also robbery, lying etc) he/she commits serves as payback to somebody and therefore would not be held accountable for such sin?

Fellow N’landers, I need answers to these questions and I also believe there are others out there that are having similar questions. Please when contributing it would be much better if you can back it up with bible verse. God bless you.
i think ur idea is a bit faulty, what u explain about was developed by buddha, for me karma simply mean what u sow is what you reap. It doest mean if i stole my friends' orange then my friend will steal my orange, it mean i will get a just punishment for stealing

obadiah777: there is no such thing as total destruction of spirits. thats a fable. if you are open minded enough to shed away the rantings of pastors of old who tried to decipher the bible with their own vain opinions when the words were closed ( Daniel 12 vs 4 ), you have to remember that the understanding of the words will be sealed until the end times, which is why there is so many fables based on vain opinions because these people tried using their own intelligence. However we are at the point where the words are opened. So if you shed away the old fables, there is no such thing as total destruction of spirit. there is no such thing as 'hell fire'. 'hell fire' simply means you will be tried with numerous afflictions and sufferings. 'heaven' simply means 'RULERSHIP'. being in CONTROL of the world. when it says THE RIGHTEOUS WILL INHERIT THE LAND, what that means is that the righteous will be in heaven forever. when it says those who dont make it will be controlled and ruled and broken down as a potters clay and be subjected to the laws of the righteous who made it ? that simply means they will be in 'hell'. 'Galatians 6 vs 7' which is the law of karma will be carried out by the righteous in heaven. if you commit adultery, scripture says you should be put to death. it will be the duty of the righteous rulers to put you to death etc etc. this is what it means by a rod of iron. so basically the righteous will be in heaven ( rulership ) and the fallen will be the prey ( hell ).

however prior to heaven been established, their will be absolute destruction and chaos in order to remove the satanic powers of the world. but those who get destroyed will be reincarnated back IN THE 3RD OR 4TH GENERATION into 'hell' ( being ruled harshly ). SEE THIS WHOLE THING ONLY MAKES SENSE IF YOU ACCEPT REINCARNATION. WITHOUT REINCARNATION THE WHOLE BIBLE CANT MAKE SENSE.
please tell me you are joking

ijawkid: At my bro goshen......

I just have one question for u that should settle us....

Is Yahweh greater than Jesus??
this is the ijawkid special question. The problem with this question is that the name Yahweh is not exclusive to the father, gen 19:24 show two distinct persons called Yahweh it says "then Yahweh rained on sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Yahweh in heaven". Aha! Two distinct persons are identified as Yahweh is that passage so my question is which of the persons called yahweh in that passage are u refering to? are u asking abt the Yahweh in the form of man on earthhuh or the other raining brimstonehuh Yahweh is not exclusive of d fada so reconstruct ur sentence.

I know we all know God is nobody's name...

But we know from Jesus that there is only 1 true God when it comes to the aspect of whom exclusive devotion should be given to...

I repeat the question...

Is Yahweh the God and Father of Jesus and also greater than Jesus??
and my answer to the well constructed question below is that it depends on your definition of "greater". Your understanding of my answer also depends on your understanding of that passage that say "he took the form of a slave" and another that says "he was made lower than the angels", in this sense, that christ lived among us with our limited and inferior nature the words of christ hold true when he says "the fada is greater than i.

Goshen360: I have shown Ijawkid and truthislight where the Bible calls the Holy Spirit God but they discarded the scripture that they don't agree with it. It was strange to me anyway but they are my good brothers, lolz. Truthislight and Frosbel, (I don't know and am not sure the position of Ijawkid); believes the Holy Spirit is a force or power. This is totally strange to the scripture. A force doesn't speak, doesn't have mind etc but the bible makes it clear that the Holy Spirit is NOT a force or power but a being that speak etc. Let every man sit to study the bible with all humility and open mind to be taught by the Holy Spirit.
ijawkid also think the holy spirit is "GOD's active force".

Goshen360: grin grin grin

I can understand. I think I agree with you on the above highlight. I will follow after. That word is NEVER in the bible, why use or introduce it to explain the concept of God. We can find a word that appears in the bible like "Godhead" etc rather than "Trinity" but we should NOT also discard the bible truth of the Father being called God, Jesus being called God and the Holy Spirit being called God just because the word "Trinity" is used to explain the concept of God. This is the crusade we should engage ourselves.
the simple fact remains that scripture didnt and doesnt have a word to describe the reality that the father is God, the son is God and the holyspirit is God and God is one. Because scripture does not have a word for describing that reality, we naturally have to pick a word that best describes it and the word "trinity", "triune" fits. I also wish to contest ur point that the word trinity is pagan, i would like to see pagan documents where the word trinity is used. The fact is such documents donot exist and ur arguement falls flat on it face. I also wish to say that the fact that pagans use a word doesnt make the word abominable, the english we speak today decended from some pagans in albion, britian and yet nobody claims that english language as a whole is abominable. To claim a word is abominable because it was used by pagans is superstitious. Besides d bible also didnt have a word to describe the reality that "the word became flesh and dwelt amongst us" the word "incarnation" was used.

Goshen360: Oga Ijawkid,

I salute o. I have said it in the past. The way some of our brethren teach this Trinity stuf makes everything so confusing. It is very clear from the scripture that Jesus even though the bible under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit called him God, He (Jesus) is not the Father. However, it doesn't mean we should deny the Deity of Christ. He is the God, not the Father that was manifest in the flesh, preached unto all.

@ Ayomivic,

Very insightful article. God bless you. The Father is different from Jesus but they are called God. Every context of "God" tells us what "God" reference is made to. I will preach it until people listen, CONTEXT IS THE KEY TO UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE.

That is beautiful, from my religious perspective (im a catholic) it is very posible and if any catholic wu reads wide will find records of many wu have been recorded to have spoken to and seen angels, such records may also be found in scriptures and on a normal day catholic are advised to speak to their "guardian angel" (he will give his angels charge over you.) . You probably noted i posted abt "talking to angels", in my case it is not physical and hardly a dialogue. It is most times in form of a request. Naturally i sleep very deep, infact there can be robbery in my compound and gun shots and yet i wont wake, i sleep deep and long, i usually make a request when i need to wakeup in the middle of the night either for prayers or to study, i simply ask my guardian angel to wake me up and till date at that particular hour, no matter how long i have slept, i must wake up. Im sure your experience will be even more beautiful.

obadiah777: So i think a clearer picture is starting to emerge to me. we grow everyday and have new things revealed to us everyday. scripture says the lord reveals his secrets to his prophets ( amos 3 vs 7 ) and if you seek you will find. it has occured to me that the lord made us with the ability to sin knowing that most of us will be weak and fall into temptation, for a purpose. and what is that purpose ? to select the most upright of all these men and then to reverse their spirit to the point where they cant sin anymore ( in the kingdom ) and use these as his permanent rulers on earth. apparently from the start the lord had the ability to make men with spirits that are not capable of sinning but chose not to do that but instead made men with freewill so as to cull the best of the best and then give them the spirit that has no freewill and is only geared towards righteousness. these selected ones will rule the rest of us ( who will still have freewill ) with a rod of iron and will break us down as the potters clay when we get to the kingdom. so basically this whole 'hell on earth' has been a selection process for leadership in heaven. after leadership is established then earth is reconverted to heaven. I GUESS THE QUESTION ARISES, IF THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY TO MAKE US WITHOUT FREEWILL FROM THE START WHY GO THROUGH THIS WHOLE PROCESS ? maybe he wants a merit based govt based on works.

jeremiah 31 vs 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

zephaniah 2 vs 13 The remnant of Israel will do no wrong And tell no lies, Nor will a deceitful tongue Be found in their mouths; For they will feed and lie down With no one to make them tremble."

micah 7 vs 19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

revelation 2 vs 26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations 'He will rule them with an iron scepter; shattering them like clay pots
obadiah! Take it easy, you have pushed this concept to an edge, it is a stone throw from telling us that God is responsible for mans sins. Take is easy! When u reach that point then u have crossed the boundary btw truth and falsehood. Apart from this alert i think your idea is almost totally correct.

Take away that spirit and man goes from a living soul to a dead body.

At the Council of Nicea

Result of the debate

The Council declared that the Son was true God, co-eternal with the Father and begotten from His same substance, arguing that such a doctrine best codified the Scriptural presentation of the Son as well as traditional Christian belief about him handed down from the Apostles. Under Constantine's influence,[38] this belief was expressed by the bishops in the Nicene Statement, which would form the basis of what has since been known as the Nicene Creed.

What i see around me are peope wu have refuse to take dominion over themselves not to talk of making a better world. Actually all we need to be better has been given to us, we have failed to apply it, we has refused to apply our God given talent and we blame God for our own failure. Wow, that doesnt seem right.

Femmymata2: Well, its just kind of human to be appalled at killing of men, women, children and infants in the name of defending a powerless God. Even though this people will eventually die of something someday, we can't but condemn those terrible acts. Imagine someone insinuating that Dieing in a plane crash for some people is God's plan to take them to heaven. Though it might not sound bad at first but taking a look at the infants and kids above that flight be burnt along there parents with no one to rescue them is quite horrific. Ofcourse, (end justifies the means) they'll make heaven thats what matters most. Fck heaven
if u are talking about fanatism, i do not wish to argue. Comiting suicide in the name of God isnt my idea of religion. People died of human or mechanical error in a plane, how come God takes the blame?

frosbel: Did you just read the underlined huh

I repeat here :

Jesus didnt posses the "fullness of God" he possesed "the fullness of the deity

I will give you one more try !
ofcourse that is what i said my bible didnt say Jesus was filled with "a measure of the fullness of God" my bible say "the fullness of the Godhood state (deity) dwelt in him bodily". Do u have a problem with that?
