obasiken:GBAM.......... LAWMA with their exorbitant charges. They now charge 3000 naira per waste bin per household monthly. My house has 3 waste bins so they bring a bill of 9000 naira monthly. |

For those of you wondering why the state elections of a tiny state like Edo is causing so much commotion in the country, I wrote a piece yesterday to explain why it is so. Please see below. I believe this will explain better. Cheers ![]() Politics is a game of numbers and every state matters to any political party. For the ruling APC, the more states they have to govern, the more power they enjoy. Before Obaseki resigned from the APC in June this year, they were controlling 21 states while the opposition PDP had 15 states. With Obaseki now being a PDP member the PDP party now controls 16 states at least till September 19. Another major reason is that Edo state was the only South-South state that APC won after the 2019 governorship elections in Nigeria. The APC party strongly believes that as long as they hold Edo state they can penetrate and get the other south-south states. Since 2016 APC, apart from Edo state has not been able to get any other south-south state and in order to show that they are a national party with spread across all the geographical zones they have to ensure they win Edo state by all means, to help them enter the other oil rich states. If APC fails to win the Edo state governorship election on September 19 that will mean the party has no single power and influence in the oil rich Niger Delta region. Another reason why this is seen as a do or die is the power struggle between the former APC national chairman Adams Oshiomole and the Governor Godwin Obaseki. For Oshiomole winning the governorship election for APC will be a big statement for him and it will enable him stamp his authority back as already people are blaming him for the state about to fall into the hands of the PDP party. Also the governor decamping to a rival party has many people angry as they feel the governor has carried the mandate to another party and they will want it back. The political turmoil in Edo state is even affecting the National APC body as well. And in my own personal opinion I see this coming Edo state election as a possible look into how the year 2023 national presidential and legislative elections will be. Both parties are using this Edo state election as a litmus test. That's why they are taking it as a do or die affair. I took particular interest in this election because it is my home state (though I have been away for so many years) and it saddens me to see the anarchy going on. |
Dicktion:Haaaaaa No girl will take that insult sha. You really belittled her and compared her to another girl. Give her sometime to calm down. That's my best advice. Please next time try to avoid saying such hurtful words, women are delicate creatures and not hardened like us Men. Don't worry she will calm down. Cheers ![]() |
Abudu2000:Thank you bro for educating them. May I even include some more points regarding the palace guards- apart from their education and welfare being taken care of by the palace , their immediate family (parents et al) are also given welfare. The Benin kingdom is very well organised. I am not even a Benin boy but I know this much because I have studied the tradition of the binis and their history. I am from the Ora speaking part of Edo state. May the best candidate win ![]() |
Dicktion:The boldfaced words, can you explain better to us so we understand and give a more appropriate advice? |
This just shows the EX is childish. You can above be 30 years old and still act and think like a kid while there are kids and teens below 20 years of age that think and act like adults. Extremely childish act and very wrong timing. |
Sonnyboom:Always try to be civil when you make posts and refrain from insults, okay? I am a civil person and so I will answer you respectfully. The Oba prayed for Obaseki same way he prayed for Ize Iyamu. Happy Sunday ![]() |
GiZcorp:Please try reading up about the Benin kingdom online. Oba's are born and not made like Sanusi was. An Oba can never be removed. See that sentence NEVER BE REMOVED In Edo State he commands more respect than the Governor. |
DikeDiMighty: Where did you read that from?People can educate themselves more about the Benin culture by reading below or using Google https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.aljazeera.com/amp/indepth/features/2016/10/oba-benin-kingdom-history-monarchy-161031161559752.html |
SIONKPO1:I get your point and love the way you put it through. This whole tribal warfare we have in this forum is very tiring and disgraceful. I never partake in it because I see it as being childish. All tribes have their positives the same way they have their negatives. At the end of the way if foreigners want to address us when we are out of the country they will not say see that Edo man, or see that Abia State man or see that Cross Riverine man. They will say see that Nigerian. I wish you a happy Sunday bro ![]() |
frankmoney:If there is anything I am proud of it's being a part of that culture. I am not bragging but the Edos have one of the best and longest living unspoilt cultural heritages in the whole of Africa. You know the class of a King with the way his subjects respect and adore him. The Benin culture is beautiful ![]() P/S - The Oba doesn't take sides in politics so he doesn't endorse any candidate. He only wishes for the peace of the state and it's citizens. That's why you see he blessed both Obaseki and Ize Iyami. So now it's for the populace to vote in their preferred candidate. I drop my mic now ![]() |
Ilaumoh:Why must you people always use insults to pass your points, why? Very immature of you. What if I tell you I am part Edo and part Akwa Ibom, so I too have no right to talk? My mum is from Akwa Ibom for your information. Please try and be civil in your utterances in future. It will help you. Happy Sunday to you. |
Something just keeps ringing in my ears, the sound is so loud, wait I need to listen carefully. Yes I can hear it now: SHILOH SHILOH SHILOH ![]() |
drkrest: you hit him below the belt ![]() |
Munachisom95:I just had to look at your profile picture because of your comment. You're not looking bad at all but I fear you are a guy with hairy balls using a female picture to catfish sex starved nairaland perverts. But what do I know ![]() |
bodybuilder:This one is tough to answer sha. I know my man lefulefu will give a better explanation why this happens. Lefu over to you ![]() |
InSanety:Just our usual poor reporting culture. Why the emphasis on the Beautiful? It should just be lady loses her life investments. I hope our reporting improves soon sha |
She will surely receive help now it's on nairaland's front page. People underestimate the reach of this forum and the calibre of people here. Nairaland has been of immense help to most people over the years. |
Interesting write up but you spoilt it with the picture you posted of Kola Aluko. Someone involved in shady dealings linked to the former petroleum minister. You should have used someone with credibility to pass along your message. This was exactly the same way the press and bloggers kept using Invictus Obi's pictures before he was caught for fraudulent activities.

azraeljaheel:I agree something must kill a man, but dying in the process of having sex should not be one of them. That's a shameful type of death |
askings: Abeg no vex, just allow me laugh small at the boldfaced ![]() Okay I am done laughing. You can start going to the gym and lifting weights, avoid cardio. Do the full body exercises (the man makers) like deadlifts, squats, overhead presses or military presses and bench presses. Then start taking Apetamin. Cheers bro ![]() |
internationalman: Just kill me |
NobleSeed:I thought Cobras don't come to populated urban centers? ![]() |
SundayRichKid:These ladies have perfected the art of attention seeking to new levels. This one is just looking for perverts to slide into her dm and increase her market (instagram tinz). With all the pancake she has on her face sef ![]() |
Moscodee1990:Lots of things make them trigger happy. Majority of the police you see on duty are high on substances - weed, hard drugs, alcohol even while on active duty. I was driving at about 7.15 am in the morning and one of them waved me down and started hailing me saying Oga anything for the boys - this dude was reeking of alcohol at 7.15am in the morning, smh ![]() |
Skepticus: ![]() |
Meedon:Op are you still there? ![]() I hope say you never pull cloth begin run enter road ![]() Answer me if you are still there ![]() |
Janella29:By telling him you know about him cheating, even going as far as showing him the evidence if you have it. Then smiling and continue living your life and behaving as if nothing happened. Continue gisting with him, cooking his meals and being homely. I swear the guy will run mad with fear and guilt when you behave this way. He will beg you and buy you gifts to beg for your forgiveness and promise never to do it again. Trust me it works. Don't go violent. Guys will insult me for exposing this secret ![]() |
Petyprincess:It's funny the way people just seek for attention from faceless people online. Glad you noticed this as well. |
Preciousgirl:Are my eyes getting blind or am I seeing your moniker for the first time? Are you not the same preciousgirl that always wrote in her numerous threads that she is married? ![]() Or this is just one of your usual attention seeking ![]()

Now I texted her to call me whenever she's got a forgiving heart cos I can't do with someone who doesn't forgive, even the Holy Books encourages us to forgive. How could a soul be so rigid towards forgiveness and expect God to forgive them?
Where did you read that from?
