Logicbwoy: CBN does not have the total power to control the financial system. There are laws that have to be amended to grant them such absolute power. And such laws will take years and may probably meet objections in the national assembly because of our diverse economic interests. The best option is to engage a single, reputable company to cater to our needs. |

lazeal: That's what i say. Our financial institutions are greedy. What stops our banks from sourcing forex externally? There is a global forex market. Dollars are readily available and at decent rates. Banks can import. But no, they chose not to. Instead they get from CBN and rip us off. 1 Like |

Logicbwoy: Because our financial institutions are greedy and do not have our economic interest at heart. The BDC is a perfect example. They buy the dollar at 199 from CBN and they sell at 285, a mouth watering gain of 86 naira for every dollar. Tell me, do they buy fuel for their business? Do they spend much on transport from state to state to sell their product? No! They are simply too greedy. And that is the problem with all Nigerians. We simply want to exploit and ruin each other. Left to me, with the exception of Dangote and Adenuga, we should speedily invite foreigners to take over all aspects of our economy. 5 Likes |

soulpeppersoup: I understand your business angle of argument. But if you are a business man in the real estate sector, you would understand that land and property are not sold and bought based on future speculations. The theory that Tompolo may be able to generate 5b naira or dollars or whatever does not hold for real estate dealings do the land can never be worth that much. I however agree with you that the buyer should be held responsible. But what we are seeing here is payment behind the scenes for something else. No sane fed government would pay such an amount for land in delta state. The question is... What is the payment for then? And only Tompolo and the agents of the Fed govt can tell us what it was about. Any other further attempt to explain why the land with whichever property and speculation it was acquired with still fail to convince people |
![]() |
soulpeppersoup: I've read all your arguments. But there is no amount of explanation that can justify your words. No amount of land in all of Delta State except the land has oil deposits is worth that just to build a university. Unless you're talking about buying a whole town. But it is just for a university. Even if it is 500 plots so long as it is situated in an obscure town in delta state and has no oil deposits, my brother it is not even worth 500 million. Please stop arguing like that. 13 billion is not 13 million. 1 Like |

chiefobdk: CBN, the Fed government and the banks are ready and willing to assist any company that seeks to import raw materials for manufacturing. They will welcome you with open arms. The current CBN policy is geared towards building up our exports through the manufacturing sector while reducing our imports. So the businesses being killed are mostly those that import so many rubbish that we should not be importing at this age for eg toothpick, pencils, matches. Even at this stage, we should be designing our own clothes and shoes not rushing off to import Gucci, Prada and the rest. 1 Like |

EternalTruths: Are you sure? Remember the problem now is how to boost exports and increase our dollar reserves. With massive corruption in this country, do you think that federalism will not lead to more corruption down to state and local government levels? Our problem is simply economic. We need to stop importing all the nonsense we import and build up our manufacturing sector. We need to fix the power problem. We need to encourage Dangote and Innoson and Ibeto. And we need to finally make public service what it did be... Simply public service and not an Avenue to appropriate funds for personal use. |

CBN has stated that it did not ban forex operations. Rather the banks have decided to restrict forex operations. And the reason is simply because of lack of foreign currency. Let me briefly explain how atm and online shopping works. You, the zenith bank account holder with say a Mastercard, decide to purchase an item worth 100 dollars on amazon. You have it's equivalent in your account in naira but amazon requires the dollars. Now you use your naira card to pay and you smile away and not worry about what happens next. Here's what goes on that you probably don't know. Amazon contacts zenith bank for your 100 dollars. Zenith takes its naira equivalent from your account but pays amazon in dollars. Zenith uses your naira to buy up more dollars from CBN and the cycle continues. The problem now is that with falling oil prices, our dollar reserves are low. CBN simply has few dollars so they can't sell easily to banks like they are used to. And with Nigeria having less things to export, the banks are now dollar strapped. CBN is actually trying to channel its dollar reserves to helping the manufacturing sector to see if we could boost exports in the near future. So little day to day activities with our atm cards have to suffer now in order for us to have a better tomorrow. Imagine what will Happen if CBN commits dollars to Dangote refinery and it's built fast, then we will be exporting petrol and earning more dollars. While things are currently bad, Nigerians should be patient and understand that such restrictions are needed for now otherwise our currency value will crash so much that 1 dollar may become 1 thousand naira. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

biodunid: It seems you're mistaking something. I am not here to clamor for war. I got interested in your thread because you made reference to Genocide. I only wanted you to see the error of your assumptions and understand that Genocide cannot and will not happen in Nigeria. I pointed out facts to explain why it can't. My argument is all about Genocide. I don't want a war. Nigeria does not need a war. I don't believe that biafra is the solution to our economic problems. I believe that good leadership is. I'd rather prefer my governors to use the free money we all get from Niger delta oil to develop our region instead of clamoring for a country. It's true that hausas often drag us back. But I believe that the igbo nation can excel within a united Nigeria. So stop trying to lecture me about the dangers of war. I've read about war to the point that cannot wish it on my enemy. I know the Rwanda story. I know about Hitler and how forty million people died for his sake . I know about America's war of emancipation and I know about our biafran war. |

biodunid: Again you make reference to genocide without understanding how it works. And let me use one of your examples to point it out. Why did the nazis almost succeed in wiping out the German Jews? Because of numbers. Genocide works with numbers. Ten million people could possibly commit genocide against one million people. But seven million people cannot commit genocide against five million people. Genocide works with numbers. War is quite different. A boko haram rag tag army of 10,000 men can successfully wage war for years against a Nigerian army of 1,000,000. They are two different strategies. Genocide also works with the fear factor. The people to be wiped out must be so afraid and defenseless against the oppressors. So they cannot defend themselves. Like i pointed out earlier, if you talk about war, then I agree with you. But before you scream genocide, you need to study Genocide. If you do, you will know that it will never apply to Nigeria. Even if all the other ethnic groups decide to wipe out the yoruba nation, they're strong enough to withstand total annihilation. They will fight back. They're not a minority tutsi of one million helpless people facing a majority hutu of more than ten million armed men. They're equally not six million unarmed German Jews facing fifty million nazis armed to the teeth. Same goes for the igbo nation and the hausa nation. Nigeria could go to war. But Genocide can never occur here. 1 Like 1 Share |

biodunid: Now you're talking about war. Genocide is different from war. In a war the two sides will lose. Nigeria won the biafran war, but the truth was that it suffered as much as biafra. War is war. Genocide is Genocide. You could argue war and I'll totally agree with you. But when you speak Genocide then you're wrong. Do you know what genocide is? It's saying that the igbo tribe will try to totally wipe out the hausa tribe while the Yoruba tribe, tiv, ndoma, ijaw, bini and all the other tribes sit down and watch. How is that ever possible? No tribe in Nigeria is stronger than the next. Our strength is in our alliances. The hausas needed the yorubas and the middle belt people to win the war. They also needed Britain and France. The igbos lost because they felt they needed no one and only realized they needed help when it was too late |

Piece of garbage. While you made valid arguments, iI do not see anywhere you gave valid reasons why Nigeria is one step away from Rwanda. I can only think that you, like many people, do not know the Rwanda story. People should not just post anything they feel like. They should research before posting. Nigeria cannot be like Rwanda because no ethnic group in Nigeria can cleanse another. Rwanda genocide was all about ethnic cleansing. It almost succeeded because the hutus had more than 70 percent of the population compared to the tutsis. Now how does this apply to Nigeria? Are the hausas the clear majority. Or is it the yorubas? There's is no major ethnic tribe in Nigeria that could successfully cleanse the next. Please go educate yourself before writing sentimental and misleading bullshit. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

To beta understand what happened to her, i had to read her blog. Back to the 2007 posts when she was still 17. The story didn't start today. And it's indeed a story of love, obsession, desperation and rape. I believe she was raped. Forget what Mustapha and his lawyer showed us. There obviously parts missing. The biggest indications to what really happened can be glimpsed from her blog as far back as 2007. So unless you tell me she had made a near decade plot to destroy the audu family then... The girl was simply young, foolish, in love, naive and she was taken advantage of. She was used carelessly and tossed around but she read many romance novels and thought that so long as she played along the man of her dreams would love her back. She deserves pity not condemnation. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Browse online to see team news. See Ivanovic in starting lineup. Frowns and goes back to sleep after concluding results. Checks results later. 2-1 Chelsea loses or 2-2 draw. Checks to see who made errors that led to goals. Ivanovic hardly disappoints. All hail Ivan the Terrible. All hail Jose the Stubborn who came as the Special One, became the Happy One but is fast becoming the Clueless One and soon to be the Sacked One. |

Kudos OP. Your girlfriend is not wasteful at all. It's perfectly alright to buy her like 6 phones a year, pay her 50K a month, buy her a car and still fuel the car for her. Don't worry, like wine, she gets better and more expensive with age. You're a job so she perfectly deserves her salary. PS all men should be like you when they grow up. 2 Likes |
