Family › Re: Nigerians, We’ve Got A Sexuality Problem by Ugosample(m): 12:11am On Nov 11, 2015 |
We are having this problem because as a people, we have this' stupid habit of burying our head in the sand when reality stares us in the face. For example, in the face of this menace, where are the parents? Are they giving proper sex education to their children? Most don't . and that is a serious problem. Communication is key, and sex education is important. Make them understand why their hormones are raging and leave the doors of communication open, so that they can report suspicious activities on their bodies by predators and don't make your children ashamed of talking about sex with u.
All these and many more done by many parents will stem the tide of continued porn usage, rapes and pervertism and yerimaism. We should face these issues dispassionately.
peace |

NellyGhenghen: Federalism- All states should fend for themselves using what they have. That's the only way out. This will reduce importation as Nigerians will be forced to industrialize, This will also lead to the growth of more cities and take pressure off the capital and Lagos and will also improve patriotism.
And since the Nigerian entertainment industry is banging right now and is worth over 100 billon dollars, the government needs to take advantage and tap into it. I don't know what they ve been waiting for and why thy haven't done this yet, this should even be considered before agriculture. They can invest in it and take the industry to mars making Nigeria more attractive to foreigners same way the US is. It won't take much cos the entertainment industry is already up there. And these celebs should be stopped from spending unnecessarily abroad. They should be stopped especially from shooting videos abroad enriching other countries. South Africans don't come here to shoot. If you shoot ur videos abroad sell it there. Or pay tax to play it here. And the affairs of MTN and Multichoice should n the likes should be looked into, these companies are not Nigerian. We must always remember this. Time for play is over, this is a desperate situation, desperate measures must be implied. Days of crude oil spoils are gone, we need to start acting like a proper nation or Nigeria will become a jungle in coming years. That talk about forcing Nigerian celebs to shoot videos in Nigeria is not possible,. We are in a democracy, and anyone can do what he or she wants, as long as it is not illegal. American artistes shoot their videos anywhere they want without being sanctioned for it. What we should advocate for is that these celebs should pay their dues to the Nigerian coffers, simple and short. |

NaijaTalkTown: I think the OP made sense. Some people are screaming inflation without even analysing what the OP said. Anyways, it is true that Nigeria's infrastructure is poor just like it is in most African countries. Printing about 1.60% money above normal rate(or 1.60% of GDP) to develop the infrastructure of the country cannot cause any serious effect to the economy in the immediate future, and the better the economy is managed, the fewer the chances that it would even affect our economy at all in the long run. You are joking right? Most of the products that would be used to close the infrastructural deficit in Nigeria, are they produced in Nigeria? No! If you print 1.60 above normal rate, you will still have to change that naira to dollars (or other international currencies) to purchase the machinery, arrange the manpower (because let us be sincere, no Nigerian construction company can manage such a gargantuan project of closing the infrastructural deficit across Nigeria at once) as well as other implements that would be used to close the infrastructural gap. Considering that the Nigerian economy depends on oil receipts for as much as 95% of its forex needs, and juxtaposing it witrh the recent slump in oil prices for about ear now, the supply of that critical forex has reduced. Now imagine that extra 1.60% in circulation chasing an already depleting forex reserves? Your answer is good as mine. To all, i know this argument is a multi dimensional one, i have just provided one angle to it, and others can follow suit. Thank you. P.S. I just became an economics graduate last week. Family › Re: Disciplining Children by Ugosample(m): 11:22pm On Sep 06, 2015 |
histemple: There is no generally endorsed procedure for training a child. Just like all marriages are different and requires different approach that suits each, so it is for punishing or correcting a child.
We must also understand that DIALOGUE is another form of correcting/punishing a child
More so, the age of the child should be considered. It's is senseless to whip a 18-year-old-------if conversation can't work at that age, only prayers can. There is no point advising a baby of 2 years old always--------Whipping may serve better for such, sometimes.
Just imagine if we were not whipped in nursery / primary and junior secondary schools. Now why is it a taboo to whip an undergraduate? The answer is simple------different approaches based on age.
We must also know that punishment is only intended to CORRECT the child. It makes no sense if the child is only made to feel excruciating pains without getting the message.
We must also guide against the following; ----Making the child to lose self confidence. ----Creating so much fears in the child. ----Making the child to be happier when you are away. ----Not letting the child know when he/she is being punished.
As we must correct erring child, we must also understand that certain traits must be pardoned as they are natural and normal within some age bracket. This is so true. One of the very bad effects of beating is that it ruins the self esteem of the child in question that drags on into adulthood |
Family › Re: What Causes Tension Between Wives And Mother-in-laws? by Ugosample(m): 11:16pm On Sep 06, 2015 |
honeychild: I think the cause of the problem is this: A lot of women endure very painful and bitter marriages. They go through life depressed and oppressed by selfish husbands. They live solely for their children, sacrifice everything for them and hardly do anything for themselves. (As I am typing this I am wondering if I am not falling into that trap myself lol) And they console themselves that 'when my son grows up he will be do everything his father did not do for me'. When the son gets married, and she sees the daughter in law enjoying a life style she never had, of course she gets bitter and jealous.
I always remind myself and my friends - whatever lace or George or gold you want to wear, please buy it for yourself now and enjoy it. whatever car you want to drive, please buy it for yourself now and drive it - don't wait for Emeka to buy you 'jeep' when he grows up. He will not. This is so true. |
Family › Re: Can You Marry A Lady That's Richer Or More Educated Than You? by Ugosample(m): 1:38am On Sep 06, 2015 |
The kind of society we live in here in Nigeria makes it difficult for some men to entertain the idea of marrying a woman richer or more educated than he is, as opposed to how the society in the west is designed. That said, i can marry a woman richer than i am, but i have to be self reliant and capable of taking care of her myself... Richer than get levels. For example, consider these two scenerios Scenario 1Man's networth= N10,000 Woman's networth= N2,000,000 Scenario 2Man's networth=N10,000,000 Woman's networth= N15,000,000- N20,000,000 I would consider marrying my girlfriend if the situation looks similar to the second scenerio, but anybody who tries scenario 1, sorry would be his name As for education, it is not possible, except there is a higher degree than PhD |

Romance › Re: 8 Attributes Of A Real Gentleman by Ugosample(m): 7:48pm On Sep 05, 2015 |
Jenny1010: Most Nigerians believe that all it takes to become a gentleman is cute suit, a bold tie and a well polished shoe. This is a wrong assertion. What determines if you are a gentleman has nothing to do with type of attire you are putting on; you can wear any attire and still be a gentleman. What makes you a gentleman is how you carry yourself ,especially around women.
To a woman, there's nothing better than being in the presence of a man who relishes in his masculinity in a way that doesn't involve the obvious chest-pounding and cat-calling, but the confident reserve of a gentleman. Below are some attributes of a gentleman.
1. A gentleman opens doors for a lady: He opens doors not because he feels a woman is weak, but because he is strong enough to show that he cares about the comfort of those around him.
2. A gentleman maintains self-control: He does not insist when his lady says "No" as regards to sex. He understands and can wait till whenever she is ready. He doesn't allow his joystick to control his life. He's willing to wait and work for this woman, to fight for her and will gladly hold out for her as long as he needs to.
3. He always listens, first: Being a gentleman is not about constantly speaking your mind, but knowing when to speak, and, most importantly, when to shut up and listen to your lady.
4. A gentleman is punctual: There is no phrase as "African time" in a gentleman's dictionary. He makes plans for traffic and other unforeseen event. He respects a woman's time. And if she late, he doesn't need to draw attention to it. A gentleman never keep a woman waiting.
5. A gentleman helps her to be seated: He pulls the chair out for her, and as her knees bend to sit,he gently push the chair in with both hands on the back rest. "So sweet"
6. Gentlemen are not "Fake Nice Guys" aka FNG : Don't get me wrong, the phrase "Fake Nice Guys" as used here classifies those dudes who claim to respect women and to be super nice and yet complain when girls don’t immediately drop their pants for them. Usually this is because the girl in question didn’t react favorably to unsolicited poetry, declarations of love, expensive presents or referring to her as “My world” within the two weeks of meeting. This is usually followed by calling her ‘slut’ or other hideous name and whining about being ‘friend zoned’ again. These guys are in no way nice and are certainly not gentlemen; regardless of how many doors they open. Sure, a gentleman might want to get into a woman's bed, but he's more interested in getting into her head as experience has shown him that seduction is a delicate dance and the man who resides in her mind has conquered every other part of her.
7. A gentleman walks closest to the car lane: yes! When walking with a lady, a gentleman walk closer to the car lane. The idea being, of course, to protect her from traffic, debris, puddles and other urban calamities.
8. A gentleman never hits a woman: Yes ! No matter what. There's no excuse. There's no possible argument to the contrary. There's no "what if?" and there's no qualifier. Gentlemen don't hit women. Ever. Full-stop!
The above are not all , there are many more. But let me stop here for now. You can add more if you like. True, only if she is worth it. |
