A report from The Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) on Monday has it that 3,000 births were recorded among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the past six months.
According to the SEMA Chairman, Satomi Ahmad, the births were registered at various camps located in the state capital between January and June.
He explained that the birth records showed significant increase in view of the high number of couples staying at the camps.
In His words, “we recorded 3,000 births among IDPs in the last six months. The mothers were supported with drugs and reproductive kits.”
The SEMA boss said the agency was working in collaboration with the state’s Ministry of Health to support expectant mothers and enhance reproductive health management in the camps.

HealthMen's World: Ejaculating 21 Times Monthly Can Prevent Prostate Cancer - Research by Upritman(op): 10:16am On Jul 02, 2017
The care for the prostate is a sensitive but important issue for men around the world. The prostrate gland which produces semen is obviously very important but disorders in the area are increasingly common amongst men over 50. An enlarged prostate can cause urination to be frequent and painful and in addition prostate cancer is now the third most common cancer in American males.
About 1.1millon new cases of prostate cancer are recorded every year globally, with about 307,000 deaths annually.
In Nigeria, according to Dr Ovunda Omudu, Head, Department of Surgery at the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital,PortHarcourt, forty per cent of men aged about 40 years are living with prostate cancer and many are unaware of their status.
People ejaculate in different ways and under different circumstances. Some through sex, others through masturbation and another unconsciously.
But do you know that ensuring that you ejaculate at least 21 times every month is extremely beneficial to you as a man?
Preventing or treating Prostate Cancer may require diverse approaches.
Well, sensible things like diet, exercise and regular checkups are the most effective way to keep your prostate healthy. However, a new, much more enjoyable method has been discovered by researchers at Harvard University.
In a published journal named European Urology, it is indicated that high levels of sexual activity can reduce the risk of contracting prostate cancer.
The study observed the sexual habits of 32,000 men and in conclusion determined that those with a higher rate of ejaculation were less likely to have prostate tumors.
The author of the study states:
We found that men reporting higher compared to lower ejaculatory frequency in adulthood were less likely to be subsequently diagnosed with prostate cancer. This large prospective study provides the strongest evidence to date of a beneficial role of ejaculation in the prevention of prostate cancer.
So, how many times should you be ejaculating a month? The panel of researchers belive that 21 will protect you from prostate cancer. During a discussion with Ultimate Health, the experts said:
Twenty-one ejaculations or more per month can protect you (males) from prostate cancer.
The study found that men who ejaculated at least 21 times a month had a 33% lower risk of prostate cancer than those that didn't
Quite why this helps the prostate hasn't quite been determined yet but scientists have speculated that it may flush toxins out of the system.
Of course, ejaculation alone isn't going to entirely save your prostate. Experts says that obesity, tobacco, high-fat processed food and heredity are also factors that will lead to prostate cancer so cut those out for your own sake.
Dr. James Balch believes that a good diet is a positive thing to aspire towards when protecting ones prostate.
If a man wants to stay out of the operating room and avoid cancer of the prostate, he needs to go full blast to avoid the high-fat junk foods and environmental toxins that contribute to prostate problems and to start a wise nutritional program that includes the basic supplements that affect the prostate.
If sex and a healthy diet wasn't enough tomatoes, organic coffee, plant-based fats, exercise and no smoking will also help prevent prostate cancer.

One of Gov.Godwin Obaseki's newly appointed Special Advisers alongside five other party faithfuls have been suspended by the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
The Governor's S.A on Agriculture and Food Security Programme, Prince Joe Okojie and five others were suspended by the Esan North East Local Government chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Edo State.
Other leaders suspended are Maichael Okojie, Chief Jude Okharedia, Mr. Idogei Ogbejele, Mr. Godfrey Alenbalulu and Mr. Joseph Esekhaegbe.
Their suspension was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman and Secretary of the party in the council, Mr. Vasco Agwi and Mr. Adolphus Imoisili after an enlarged Executive Committee meeting of the party held at Uromi, headquarters of the council.

The statement reads in part;
“The said five-man illegal committee forcefully gained entrance into the party secretariat under the cover of heavily armed thugs. This led to breakdown of law and order and in clear breach of Article 21 of the APC constitution.”
“We pass a vote of no confidence on Prince Joe Okojie as the leader of the APC in Esan North East and we hereby, suspend them following their involvement in illegal activities,”.
Prince Okojie was yet to respond to the suspension as at the time of filing this report.

PoliticsAPGA Will Lose Anambra Guber Poll For Opposing & Killing Our Members -- IPOB by Upritman(op): 6:52am On Jun 29, 2017
The secessionist group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has predicted that Gov.Willie Obiano and His party will lose the November 18 Governorship Election scheduled to hold in Anambra state. This is coming after the group vowed to stop any election holding in 'Biafraland'.
This threat however got a hot knock from the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra State. The party in a recent statement urged Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB's Leader not to see himself as The Emperor of the Igboland.
In an event attended by over 5000 supporters of IPOB Wednesday in the country home of it's Leader, the Group through it's Media Officer, Emma Powerful officially responded to the APGA statement accusing the party of jealousy.
“We are not deterred by the noise coming from APGA because after November 18, 2017 guber election in Anambra, APGA will cease to exist as a political force because they killed innocent Biafrans fighting for the liberation of all of us".
Reiterating it's earlier stand against the conduct of any election in Biafraland and it's call for a referendum, the group said;
“We stand strongly to tell the whole world the position of IPOB under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu that we will not be participating in any party politics or electioneering in Anambra State or elsewhere for that matter. All we are asking for is a date for referendum, not war, so the people of Biafra can decide their fate in this abominable entity called Nigeria.
“The political vampires who are APGA members and other politicians in Biafraland claiming to be lovers of Biafra and her freedom should know that if Nigerian government fails to give Biafrans a date for referendum to ascertain the will of the people in no distant time, there will be no more elections in Biafraland.
“We the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its leadership worldwide view the childish antics of APGA as a jealously laden, derisory attempt to divert attention away from the fact that APGA, as the governing party in Anambra State, has been responsible for the death of innocent Biafrans numbering over 2,000 since the formation.”
IPOB also alleged that the infamous Ezu River bodies and the heinous massacres at Nkpor and Head Bridge Onitsha were perpetrated by APGA on different occasions.
It said: “The party employed wholesale slaughter of our people as a way of stopping the agitation for restoration of Biafra, not knowing that we are prepared to keep dying until Biafra is restored as we swore.”
Kanu at the event was unanimously appointed as the Overall Leader of Biafra to galvanise efforts to hastily achieve the independence of Biafra by seven pro-Biafra Groups.

A Zimbabwean Magistrate will continue today, the trial of a woman, who beat her husband for attending a church different from hers.

“Ndlovu was served with supper by his daughter and when he finished eating, Mudzengi grabbed him by the neck and pushed him to the floor before she sat on him and assaulted him several times with fists. The accused also destroyed Ndlovu’s Bible, anointing oil and Mwazha’s (his pastor’s) picture.

PoliticsWhy I Sacked All My Commissioners --- Gov.wike by Upritman(op): 7:57pm On Jun 25, 2017
Following the recent dissolution of the Rivers State Executive Council, the State Governor, Chief Barr.Nyesom Wike has explained the reason behind his action. Wike's explanation was made public in a statement issued on Sunday by His Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu.
The statement explained that the dissolution of the State Executive Council was as a result of a joint decision between the Governor and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in
the state.
Mr.Nwakaudu said that the Governor's explanation was given during the election Thanksgiving Service in honour of the Majority Whip of the State House of Assembly at St Martin's Anglican Church, Ogu on Sunday. At the event Governor Wike said that the dissolution was done to rejig the machinery of government to move the state forward.
He said: "This is when you know those who are loyal and those who are not loyal. There is no crack in government. We are working together. The dissolution was done in consultation with the leadership of PDP in the state.
"You must work with those who are loyal. Those who are not loyal will be shown the way out. Those who are loyal will come back. When you are going into another dispensation, you have to put things in order".
Buttressing the appropriateness of the action, Chief Wike said:
"In government, there are those hungry to come in and those hungry to go. If you are a political appointee, you must expect any eventuality ".
He reiterated the resolve of His administration to continue to deliver on its promises to the people.
Meanwhile the sack of the Rivers State Executive Council continues to generate mix reactions with some political observers opining that all obviously may not be well with the Wike administration. Others however insist that it was only a routine occurrence for Governors to reshuffle their cabinets especially to compensate all those who contributed to their victories during the electioneering period.
It may interest you to know that in Rivers State, both the APC and PDP are seriously strategising on how to emerge victorious in the 2019 General Elections and the Governor's action may just be targeted at that direction as well.

PoliticsWe Will Continue With Dino's Recall Process Despite Lawsuit -- INEC by Upritman(op): 7:31am On Jun 25, 2017
The plan of embattled Kogi Senator, Dino Melaye to stop His recall may have met a brick wall as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which received the signatories for the recall, on Wednesday, says it would continue with the exercise.
According to a reliable source in the legal unit of INEC, the electoral umpire has at least three precedents to follow in dealing with the case.
“INEC would go ahead to conduct the referendum in so far as INEC is able to verify or ascertain the genuineness of the signatures. Every lawmaker that had faced the issue of recall in the past, from Plateau, Jigawa to Abia, ran to the courts but such actions never stopped the Commission from going ahead with the referendum”, he said.
Meanwhile, INEC’s Director in charge of Voter Education, Publicity, Civil Society and Gender Liaison, Oluwole Osaze-Uzi said the electoral body has not been dully notified so INEC would not want to react to issues it read in the media.
“We have not been served. We shall enter an appearance and defend what we have to defend (when served with the notice). But for now, we cannot start reacting to comments or statements we read in the media”, he said.
You may recall that Sen.Dino Melaye had dragged INEC before a division of the Abuja Federal High Court through a suit instituted on His behalf by His counsel, Mike Ozekhome SAN

PoliticsEight Prayers Of Sen.Dino Melaye To The Federal High Court, Abuja by Upritman(op): 9:30am On Jun 24, 2017
After much boasting and noise making over moves by His constituents to recall Him, Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West Senatorial District has out of fear ran to the judiciary to save his seat.
In a suit filed before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court yesterday, Sen.Melaye is seeking an order stopping the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC from implementing ongoing process by his constituents to recall him.
Sen.Dino who filed the originating Summons through his lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, is praying the court to;
1. Declare that the petition presented to INEC for his recall was illegal, unlawful, wrongful, unconstitutional, invalid, null and void and of no effect in law.
2. Declare that the petition purportedly forwarded to the INEC was invalid and of no effect, the same being signed by fictitious, dead and none existing persons in his senatorial district
3. Order an injunction restraining INEC from commencing or further continuing or completing the process of his recall.
4. Make an order stopping INEC from acting on the petition submitted to it.
5. Stop the electoral body from conducting any referendum predicated on the fictitious petition allegedly submitted to it by his purported constituents on the basis of the fundamentally and legally flawed petition.
6. Determine whether by provisions of Sections 68 and 69 of the Constitution, he is entitled to a fair hearing before the process of his recall as envisaged by the provisions of Section 69 of the Constitution can be triggered.
7. Determine whether the petition presented to the defendant is in compliance with the requirements of the constitution, same being heavily tainted with political malice, bad motive, personal vendetta and bad faith, which were initiated by top politicians in Kogi State, who wield enormous power over his Senatorial constituency.
8. Determine whether the process of recall as provided for in Section 69 of the constitution can be initiated against him when the number of registered and qualified voters in the constituency who purportedly signed the petition is grossly less than the number required in Section 69(a) of the constitution.
The suit was marked FHC/ABJ/CS/567/2017, which he filed pursuant to sections 36,68 and 69 of the 1999 Constitution and Order 3, Rule 6 of the FHC Civil Procedure Rules 2009.
No date has been fixed for the case yet.

CareerLecturers, Doctors Suspend Strikes In Kogi State by Upritman(op): 9:28am On Jun 23, 2017
The Joint Action Committee, JAC, of tertiary institutions has called off the five months strike by lecturers of tertiary institutions in Kogi State after signing Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the state government.
Announcing the decision yesterday at the Ministry of Education, Lokoja, spokesperson of JAC, Moses Balogun, said the strike was called off due to the intervention of the governing councils of the tertiary institutions.
Balogun said the move was to enable the state government address all the issues raised that led to the strike, saying “in view of the agreement, JAC shall suspend its strike for four weeks from the midnight of June 21 to create a window for government to act on the agreement reached.”
Speaking on behalf of state government, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Tolorunleke Sunday, said Governor Yahaya Bello had mapped out modalities to ensure that schools programmes run uninterrupted during his tenure, promising that such industrial action by the lecturers will not occur again.
Similarly, The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Kogi state has suspended its 18-day old strike to enable the government meet up with her demands.
The Chairman of the association, Dr Godwin Tijani, said this to newsmen in a statement issued after its Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) in Lokoja on Thursday.
Dr. Tijani explained that the members agreed to suspend the strike because the State Government has met about 70 per cent of their demands and has promised to address other outstanding issues before September.
“As an understanding association, NMA deemed it fit to suspend the strike to give government the benefit of doubt.
“We appreciate government for reinstating and payment of the salaries of our colleagues employed in 2015. We believe that the promise of reinstating some of our colleagues still on the uncleared list will also be fulfilled.
“NMA has also been assured by government that the Relativity and corrected CONMESS will be implemented by September and we are looking forward to that.
“The association is also impressed with the government decision to implement promotion and stepping for doctors to prevent the stagnation doctors have suffered for years.
“Congress therefore suspend the strike action for three months and to reconvene in September to reappraise the suspended strike and resume if our demands are not met,” Tijani said.

PoliticsBreaking---- Saraki Wins Case At Code Of Conduct Tribunal by Upritman(op): 1:17pm On Jun 14, 2017
Saraki Wins Case At Code Of Conduct Tribunal
After all the melodrama that has characterized the trial of Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr.Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Saraki was today discharged in a surprising ruling delivered by the Chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar. Mr. Umar in a ruling delivered on the "no case" submission by Mr. Saraki held that the Code of Conduct Bureau had not established a prima facie case against Saraki relating to his false declaration of assets.
Today’s ruling follows a boastful tweet late last night from very close friends of the Senate President which gave an indication that all was settled to give Mr.Saraki a favourable judgment.
According to an online news media, Sahara Reporters, Dr.Saraki secured the favourable judgment with a bank-liquidating bribe of $2million.
It may interest you to know that Saraki’s trial at the CCT began on March 10th, 2016.
It is however unclear if the Federal Government will appeal the judgment.

PoliticsJonathan's Rot Made It Difficult For Buhari To Pay Salaries -- Amaechi by Upritman(op): 9:16am On Jun 14, 2017
Former Governor of Rivers State and Nigeria’s current Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has recalled how the unimaginable rot that characterised the administration of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan made it difficult for President Muhammadu Buhari to pay salaries of workers when He assumed office.
“If you know the amount of rot we met when we came in, it was so bad that it was difficult to pay salaries,”.
Mr. Amaechi stated this on Tuesday while speaking at an annual lecture organised by CKN News.
The programme, themed “The Role of the Social media in the socio-economic and political development of Nigeria”, held in Ikeja, Lagos.
He explained further that he would not be commenting much about rot because he would not want to “break the oath of secrecy.”
Commenting on the role of the social media in the polity, Mr. Amaechi noted that the platform is capable of creating employment as well as fostering political engagement.
He, however, said that the platform also has its negative sides, if not used with caution.
According to Mr. Amaechi, apart from providing a platform for Nigerians to vent their anger, it also provides employment for some “unemployable” Nigerians.
The minister, therefore, urged users of the social media to exercise and be security conscious.
“Social media can also be used as feedback mechanism for government…because it gives immediate feedback,” he said.
While acknowledging the huge challenges facing the APC-led federal government, Mr.Amaechi urged Nigerians to continue to support the Buhari administration explaining that the government was working towards empowering Nigerians and providing social amenities.

Jobs/VacanciesN-power Tablet: Why The Delay? by Upritman(op): 6:26am On May 19, 2017
N-Power is one of President Buhari's social investment programs aimed at reducing poverty and engaging young graduates.
The program which commenced last December with payment of its first stipends of 30k was expected to also involve the distribution of various brands of tablets aimed at enhancing the work of the beneficiaries.
After series of activities including the recent upload of means of identification, one wonders what could still be holding the commencement of the distribution of the tablets. This is more worrisome considering the fact that beneficiaries were already told that President Buhari has given the go-ahead to the BOI for the funding of the tablets some months ago.
Have they given up on providing the tablets as promised?
Or they are waiting for the 2019 general elections campaign to start before they will commence the distribution?

PoliticsRe: Goodluck Jonathan Commissions 2nd Nkpogu Bridge With Wike (pics) by Upritman(m): 7:21pm On May 18, 2017
we are sentimentally talking about, GEJ, Wike and Buhari.
How come no body is noticing the poor quality of the job done here?
Is this what we hear and see Gov.Ambode commissioning while also celebrating Lagos @ 50?
Anyway, This mediocrity will soon end in Rivers State.
2019 will be wondrous
These blind men must leave our dear state for our glory to return
