The Governor of Rivers State , Chief Barr.Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has been urged to take to the path of truthfulness like his Ekiti State partner in crime to accept the authenticity of the leaked audio tape where they were mocking the Nigeria Military after the outcome of the rerun elections in Rivers State. This was contained in a statement released by the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Chris Finebone on Friday. The statement is as below; The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, received with satisfaction the confirmation by Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State that the telephone discussion clip between him and Gov Nyesom Wike published by Saharareporters is authentic. Gov Fayose’s only grouse is that it was allegedly recorded and leaked by the Department of State Services [DSS], an accusation he is yet to provide the evidence. The APC finds Gov. Fayose’s position very significant in several aspects. The most important significance of that admission is that even among criminals, some level of honour especially in telling some truth and owning up to the obvious are necessary. When the audio recordings of Gov. Wike’s conversations with his people on rigging the last December 10 rerun elections surfaced in public space, the governor rather than own up and raise other issues about the clips chose to discredit them even if they were as clear to the deaf and dumb as could be. Ordinarily, APC expected Gov. Wike to take advantage of the panel set up by the Inspector- General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris to help unravel what happened during the elections including the authenticity of the alleged audio recording clips and his many accusations against security agencies, INEC and our party. Instead the governor defiantly announced that he and the Rivers State Government would not cooperate with the IGP panel – something that tend to suggest that the governor has a lot to hide. The APC notes that having been unsuccessful in discrediting the audio clips Gov. Wike decided to deflect attention from himself and the criminal nature of the clips by setting up his own panel to investigate events surrounding the last December 10 rerun elections in Rivers State. The APC and its leadership believe that the decision by Gov.Wike to set up a parallel judicial panel on the December 10 rerun elections, as laughable as it appears, is not only to conceal his malfeasance in the rerun elections but to attempt to pin contrived wrong doings on his political opponents, a move doomed to die on arrival. The APC wishes to remind Gov. Wike that while immunity shields him from prosecution, it does not protect him and indeed any governor from investigation. He must know that immunity has expiration date and that day must come. Therefore, the APC calls on Gov. Nyesom Wike to tow the line of his Man Friday, Gov. Ayo Fayose and recognise that even among thieves some level of honour is necessary. He should own up that the audio recording of him is authentic instead of continuing to live in denial. Better still, the governor should take advantage of the IGP panel to tell all he knows about the December 10 rerun elections and possibly exonerate himself instead of the lame attempts at discrediting the clips and accusing APC, INEC, Police, DSS and everyone else. Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has blamed the Department of State Services for leaking an edited copy of his telephone with the governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike to incriminate him and Wike. “If the President and his hatchet men in the DSS, EFCC and other federal government agencies do not know what to do other than to record phone conversations of their perceived political foes, they should just resign and save the country from this harrowing experience,” Fayose said in a statement through Lere Olayinka, his special assistant on public communications and new media. An online medium, Sahara Reporters, on Thursday, published an audio tape in which a person purported to be Wike confessed to how he used his position as the governor of the state to influence the outcome of the bloody December 10 Rivers rerun polls . Though the Ekiti State governor did not disclaim the leaked audio tape, he, however, that it had been doctored. “If the President and his hatchet men in the DSS, EFCC and other federal government agencies do not know what to do other than to record phone conversations of their perceived political foes, they should just resign and save the country from this harrowing experience,” he said. He insisted the federal government was threatened by his popularity and endorsement by notable religious leaders such as Enoch Adeboye and Pastor W. F. Kumuyi. The ruling All Progressives Congress thus resorted to using the DSS and other security agencies to intimidate him and other leading opposition figures, he said. The governor described the DSS secretly recording his telephone conversations as the height of the political rascality, manipulation, oppression, suppression and irresponsibility by agents of the federal government that are trying so hard to cover up the crimes they perpetrated against the people of Rivers State. “They should even go beyond taping of my lines and come to live with me in Ekiti government house so that they can do per seconds live recordings of whatever I say because in the year 2017, by the grace of God, I will still say more without apology,” he said. While maintaining that the APC led federal government do not respect the laws of the country, Governor Fayose said; “They know that what they are doing is illegal and clear contravention of Section 37 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which provides that; ‘The privacy of citizens, their homes, correspondence, telephone conversations and telegraphic communications is hereby guaranteed and protected.’ “However, because they are criminally minded and are running a tyrannical government, using the DSS, EFCC and other agencies, one is not surprised at the current development.” Source: www.versatilereporters.com/2016/12/i-called-wike-but-dss-edited-our-phone.html?m=1

A group of Civil Society Organisations in Rivers State Monday took to the streets of Port Harcourt to protest against the intimidation of security personnel in the State by the State Governor, Nyesom Wike. The massive group of Protesters were seen carrying placards with various inscriptions against the state of affairs in the State as well as the roles of Gov.Wike in fueling more troubles and destruction of lives and property since his emergence as the state governor. This protest is coming after a similar one organised by leaders, members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC last week in Portharcourt. Meanwhile the purported audio-tape of Gov.Wike is still generating debates with the recent moves by the Police authorities to forensically investigate the authenticity of the tape in which rigging/murder plots of the governor were exposed. With the tensions in Rivers State before and after the December 10th legislative rerun elections, there are fears that the state economy may suffer further as residents and companies are believed to be leaving the state enmass to avoid been trapped in any impending violence. Thousands of Rivers People who included leaders, supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state Friday took to the streets of Port Harcourt. This is coming barely 24 hours after the state governor, Nyesom Wike led other PDP members and supporters to the Force State Headquarters of the Nigeria Police, demanding the removal of police officers he alleged were compromised during the December 10 legislative rerun elections in the state. The APC protesters were countering the demand of Gov.Wike and his party, the PDP. The APC protesters led by the Party's National Assistant Secretary and Ambassador-Designate, Chief Oji Ngofa demanded that the police officers in charge of SARS, ACP Akin Fakolade and ACP Stephen Hasso in charge of operation MUST not be transferred outside the state. They insisted that both Hasso and Fakolade are PROFESSIONAL police officers. The protesters also visited the INEC office in Portharcourt, demanding the immediate removal of the Rivers INEC REC, Iniede Ikoiwak over ignominious rigging in connivance with Wike and the PDP. Furthermore, they also called for the immediate resignation of the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, for being responsible for the series of killings in the state. Versatile Reporters recalls that an audio tape allegedly involving the governor had gone viral yesterday. In the tape, the governor was heard threatening to kill an unnamed INEC official from Plateau State if He fails to rig the rerun elections in favour of the PDP. Weeks to the election, Gov.Wike took to his usual threats, intimidation and accusations against INEC, Security Agencies, The APC and its leaders. After the fake result sheet drama, Gov.Nyesom Wike also alleged that He had a video exposing a secret rigging meeting with police leadership and Rivers State APC. The Governor in his words said the release of the video will shake the world and vindicate his previous foul-cries. Few hours to the election, we are yet to see the Video. Even the Management of Youtube is waiting. Gov.Wike must not disappoint the world. He must not portray Rivers People as Liars. Those close to him should kindly remind him that the world is waiting for him. Gov.Wike where is the VIDEO? If He fails to release the video, then i urge all PDP members and supporters to vote enmass for APC tomorrow in protest. If a Father and Governor who is supposed to be a role model to his children and the people he governs consciously takes to shameful lies, propaganda and sponsored violence and murders, what then is the moral basis of following him as a 'leader'. Rivers People must prove a fact this time. This government has played enough on our collective intelligence. Use your PVCs, not weapons.

As the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP continues to seek ways of reuniting Nigeria's main opposition party, there are indications that when the storm is over, the party may consider fielding former president Goodluck Jonathan or ex-Jigawa Governor, Sule Lamido as its presidential candidate. This is coming as loyalists of former President Goodluck Jonathan are trying very hard to end the crisis in the Party ahead of the 2019 general elections. The loyalists especially former ministers and governors during former administration of Jonathan were said to be visiting different state chapters of the PDP to seek reconciliation among aggrieved PDP members. It was was gathered that Jonathan’s men were working under the auspices of the Ministers’ Forum (MF), comprising former governors, former ministers and PDP stalwarts. Lamido confirmed that they were going round PDP states to reconcile aggrieved members and unify the party for future elections. “PDP is the only party that can keep Nigeria United because the party is in every house, community and state. Our mission in Bayelsa was very successful”, he said. Jonathan who was recently begged by some northern youths in Sokoto to return as President had also hinted that he wasn't done with politics yet which proves right the speculation that he may still be interested in contesting the 2019 presidential election. Meanwhile it is unclear how the planned merger of the Makarfi faction of PDP with some aggrieved members of the APC by March 2017 may threaten the unity of the party as well as its chances of winning the 2019 presidential poll with the rumoured entrance of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his undying presidential ambition.
