They are just loafing, pretending to understand and nodding their heads recurrently like agama (remember Dbanj's laughable interview with Jona? ). My best bet is, they don't understand a fraction of what it is in that write-up they keep quoting repeatedly. Even though this comment has been oiled with sarcasm, it is nothing but the truth. |

I love his wisdom, the fact that he always gists with us all the time. The fact that he asks us before taking major decisions in the family. His stories are just hillarious. When he isnt home, the house is BORING but once he is home, the house is lively again.
I love the fact that he respects our opinions and listens to us. He has the title of chief whyner of the family. He can whyne for Africa.
I love the fact that he buys little little things for his daughters like bags, shoes e.t.c
He doesn't attend church but he ensures I attend church every Sunday
I love the fact that i got my brains andnice legsfrom him.
Lastly and more importantly, i love the fact that he attends to my every need down so that i do not have to depend on someone else to provide for me. |

probsolver: Dr Zakir Naik is not just debating only with christian scholars. He's been debating with any non-islamic faith and defeating them hands down, he defeated dr ruknu pio, an arab evangelist in 2004 or so he scattered him, he defeated sri sri of hinduism, he pieces him and he has engaged lots of scholars of other faith and defeated them. Note: not only with Quran but with their scriptures. He is nt rubbishing people of other faiths but show them d beauty of Islam and clearing d misconseption abt d religion.I always feel happy whenever I remember him or watch his talks. He is indeed a blessing to this muslim generation. I'm bittered when I realised that nigerian christians are ignorants they dnt know anything except what their pastors told them in d church. That is why when the trend of 'zakir naik live in abuja' was opened majority of them were asking who is he and saying all sorts of rubbish about him. Pls think out of box, seek the truth salvation and embrace it. May Allah assist u. I'm not here to insult but to clear things sorry if u av been offended in anyway. Mate, I read all you've written. It's a pity you think Islam is about debating or comparison to other religions. To you a good messenger of Allah is a person that can defeat people in debates? I know the Holy Prophet (peace be upon his name) talked a great deal about knowledge in his teachings but do you think the reason was to ridicule other faiths? My dear brother, you still have a lot to learn. Before you sleep tonight ask Allah for wisdom. |

texaco1: oyo politics is different ,the masses dont like ajimobi take that, those that like him are those in the middle class and it is quite unfortunate that this class of people are in the minority,a percentage of them dont even vote they may come online and say all sorts of thing but they have no bite .the people that matter are the grassroot, that is where the power lies and this set of people are the ones against ajimobi, they love their old ways al previous govt always leave them to be but once they decide to move against u there is nothing that can stop them. take ladoja out of the 2011 elections and u would have seen how acn would have lost.tinubu and acn should have brought and bought ladoja over to their side ,ladoja stil controls at least 20%of oyo voters.now that pdp has taken him lets see how acn will win. You sound like a person that knows a lot about Oyo politics. Do you think an Ibadan man will team up with an Ogbomoso man to fight another Ibadan man? This is a trap for Akala, Ladoja wants to take control of the PDP. If you don't have the support of Ibadan folks you can't win the governorship election. At the end of the day, the next Governor will be determined by the Ibadan elders and we both know their decision will be final. Akala is not in the good books of Ibadan and Oke Ogun folks, he can only deliver Ogbomoso votes. |

mapet: For me it's not even about studying abroad or not.......it is the wrong perspectives I see people ignorantly puting to things. Today opportunities are more gloabl and world is turning more dynamic. More average families are sending children to schools in Ukraine, Russia, Malaysia, India etc giving them more global exposure, more opportunities to compete and better footing enroute leadership. That for me we should chanell our energies on. How do I strategically position myself and children. I was impressed when a senior friend (who is an average hustling business man, drilling boreholes) told me his first son is now in Ukrane studying Aeronatic Engineering....in my days those were dreams in the air...... You've said it all. |

To every dividend there's a price. Let's face it, in NADECO days when Tinubu and co, confronted the military, put their resources in the struggle...where was your father or my father.....
I remember we had this discussion in my Bskul days, talking about the fact that the late Tayo Aderionkun and Fola Adeola practically own 30% of Banana Island. The critical question is at SAP era, why didn't our fathers do all that was necessart to secure banking license......
For me we need to study and understand the balance and game of power. The rich raise their kids with different perspectives from you and I. Tinubu's daughter need not study any of these courses we struggle to study and afterwards bask in the Euphoria of the accompanishment. She's made for high stakes. She need not study medicine, law, engineering etc. Truth is she's never gonna use any of those. She'll hire people to do all that for her. Pray tell, check the Royal lines, why do you think they study course like music, classiss, History...etc They are meant to understand the history of the Royalty they are born into. They are taught in a different line. They are trained to continue to sustain and increase wealth.......
You and I need to change our orientation. This "cry of the poor man" is useless. We need to get out of the rat race. My two kids are Havard and MIT bound and I've started the savings already. You have made my day Sir. |

Mcleo007: I see you fail to pick the point people are trying to make on this thread, and I know why. You misplace fortune for opportunity. Those two, although are conjectures in relative senses, mean different things altogether. Yes, you schooled abroad, nobody has a problem with that, and many of your colleagues like yourself were of average homes. That's fair enough. Now, the point you missed centers on leadership and position. Leadership or being in position of leading others come at a price. The price is leading an exemplary life, owning up to the ideals that benefit all. If you know you have nothing to contribute to the common lot, do not show your face. That is the problem with politics in this part of the world. The leaders see themselves as demi-gods and view doing their functions as serving privileges to the people who elected them into office. How many times do you hear Obama or David Cameron commission a project? Those things are elementary and hardly spoken of. But here, our culture of celebrating mediocrity continue to prevail. The leaders see any thing they do as privilege to the people and not them exercising the function of why they are in position.
3 of my siblings did school abroad. And yes, my parents are not politicians. They simply struggled to raise us the way they could afford to. My siblings who schooled abroad do not in any way feel they are better than i am, nor consider me inferior to them. We live our lives for ourselves. There is no problem schooling abroad, afterall, there are many british people who school in the US and other European countries. What we are simply outlining borders on leadership by example. These people are aware of the rot in the system and do not see any need to address them. They let it be, despite it being their duty to cob. Why then should they exempt their own children? Practice what you preach IS THE GOLDEN RULE. Mate, you have spoken well but I have been listening to this type of narrative since the day I was born and it's time to stop. Everybody is tired of the of the Nigerian type of leadership and if you don't it has been the same since Shagari's regime. Now,ask yourself these questions...do I want to remain in the league of folks that complain, have kids, raise them in this situation? Do I want to make things right? How will I make things right? The choice is entirely yours, please note that a man that chooses a different option will not see this issue the same way as you. I hope you get my gist? I belong to a group that believe they are the next generation of leaders, so pardon me if I don't have time to moan, groan and complain. |

I don't understand this? What's the big deal about studying abroad? I attended a good school in the UK and non of my course mates was a child of a political office holder, tuition was paid by our parents and most of us are from average families, other guys were on scholarships. Moral of my story? If your parents can't afford to send you abroad, work had so you can win a scholarship and stop wasting your time on this thread. |

I get your point, let us sit down and see what we can develop for our immediate environment first. Our target should be the pockets of Nigerians. acidtalk: Afam, I totaly understand how you feel because at one point of my life I was there.
Let me give you a brief history. I grew up with both parent who were fashionisters. I grew up in the late 70s and early 80s seeing my dad putting on Macks and Spencer and tommy hilfiger boxers (never new those were even designers then). My parents had always being wearing expensive perfumes and wrist as far back as I can remember.
Long story short, I was an hippy up till my university days were there were some semesters I never repeated one shirt twice. I was known first by my clean and smooth dressing before my looks. In my year 3, the urge to start making money (real money began) I started hustling big time. Even though I was still a sleek dresser, the time and money I spend on fashion reduced. I graduated and straight went for service still making money and being way above average in my fashion style.
Then I got a place, a car had more responsibilities and more commitment in life and before I knew it, I was wearing barely 25 shirts (same) month in, month out yet having over a 100 in my wardrobe. Then it dawned on me I had become more of a hustling young man as against the previous hippy dude.
I got angry one day and emptied my entire wardbrobe leaving on 320shirts, 10 pants/trousers, 10 shoes and only 3 wrist watches (me that could never stay having less than 10 pieces of wrist watches at a go).
Now I will let you know I still never play with my perfumes. I look perfs and wrist watches and those are almost the two most noticed things on a man (your smell and the class you have on your wrist).
Now, as against my previous thoughts, I will need to go back to my fashionistic days because of some upcoming events. This is what I am planning to do and will recommend same for you.
* get at least 5 very nice and appealing shoes (3 black and 2 brown) for corporate meetings. You don't have to buy them at once. And you can get ranging from N8,500 -N35,000 depend on the make and where you are shopping.
* get like 4 very nice casual shoes (trainers, sneaker...whatever they call them now) maninly to waer on casual meetings and weekends. You can get them ranging from N4,000 - N12,500. Note; get only those ones that will look mature on you. Don't get what secondary and university school boys are rocking. Don't dress immature.
* have at least 3 very nice slippers /sandals. 1 black, 1 brown and maybe another white or blue. Slippers are lovely to wear on weekends when you go to the mall, lounge, cinema or just taking a stroll. Especially when you wear them on a 3/4 trouser.
* get shirts (monimum of 20). Have them in long sleeve and short sleeve. Depending on your frame, I love long sleeves but I have found out short sleeves are always perfect on me. Your shirts don't have to be extremely expensive but make sure they are of good quality, nice texture and not of dull colour. Your complexion determines what colour will best suit you. But ensure to have lots of white, blue and grey. Avoid colours like purpple, yellow, and heavy flowery shirts.
* have at least 7 trousers (black, navy blue, brown, cream) and 4 jeans (blue, black and any off colour).
* wrist watches. Depending on your age and stature select nice and unique wrist watches. I have stopped wearing chain wrist watches and wrist watches of big head. My wrist watches are mainly leather (Black, brown and white leather strap. I love them to be chronometer as well. But very unique piece. I won't give a range on thisbecause I like mine expensive. The last set I got in Cedi mall Accra were $430 but I sure know you can get very nice piece between N15,000 -N45,000
My brother please avoid all this fake and and obvious immitation Rolex, Omega, Rado and the rest. Depending on where you go, big men always know fake wrist watches, I personally know them and I don't appreciate them on a guy.
* Have a few base ball hats (face cap) and kangol hats. They could be nice on weekends.
*have a couple of 3/4 trousers of difference colour.
* Body spray. There are a few none expensive but very good body spray from as little as N500 - N1,500
* Perfume. Never Ever wear or buy an immitation perfume. It sucks. You can get the like of Japol, Euphoria by Ck, Givenchy (50ml) and lots more from and little as N7,000. Never ever underestimate the power of wearing a good perf. People always notice you wherever you enter.
*Body Cream. I went a whole 10years without rubbing cream for a single day. But 3 months ago I was touched by the spirit and I now us vaseline alovera. I buy it from shoprite and it is only N400 . Shebi na to rub something for body after bathing.
* Haircut. Always ensure you are on low cut. You can never ever go wrong with this style. It makes you appear neat, responsible and mature at all times. Avoid Neck chains, bangle, earings. They never make you appear responsible.
I hope this little help. I just budgeted a substantial sum to do a little shopping by next weekend because I also need to get my grove back on. That was the only place you 'messed up', the fact that it does not work for you is not enough reason to give it that classification. All the guys in my house have neck chains...I won't boast. Other than that, you were on point. |
