Hello house,

I have been through the thread but i couldnt really find answers. I have don my IELTS, with 8 in each compnent, I am 23 years with 2 years experience and a bachelor's degree. My projected CRS is 412, what can i do to boost my score please? I do not have a job offer or family member who is a PR or citizen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's a tough spot you are but the only thing that could help you now is to enrol in any 1 year programme in a private university (to avoid strike issues). once you graduate from that you would qualify for 2 or more certificate and your work experience will be 3years. Your crs will jump to 471. You can start it now and before your ielts expires you will have your cert.
Best of luck

cc @abbylee...

not sure, but probably good to be careful with this as well. one of the conditions for a student visa is that you WILL BE RETURNING TO YOUR COUNTRY. if you've got PR and admission going at the same time, best not to apply for a student visa IMO...just to be on the safe side. might want to consider deferring if necessary. Any more knowledgeable people can also chuk mouth...
First of all there is something known as dual intent (meaning you can do both a study permit and PR application alongside eachother). Dual intent is not a criteria for refusal of any visa. However you must prove the main point of each visa category. That is proof you will leave the country in your study permit application and also proof that you have sufficient means of integration in your PR application.
However from osemigho's post, I think he is already a student on study permit who happened to also pursue his express entry. In this case there is also nothing wrong with it because he met the criteria.
I hope this clarifies it a little better.

Just seeing this. School has been tough. So long your payment deadline hasn’t pass, your tuition will reduce once you get PR. Got mine in November. So I had to pay fall semester as international student but winter as domestic. By the way, your landing document is sufficient evidence that you are PR. No need to wait for PR card before notifying your school.

Another reason to work on your PR is attached below. After I changed status, I was able to qualify for it and I applied. The rest is history. Thanking God for everything.
That means it was your nja work experience you used for the pr application right?

Thank you ethelia, considering using it because of my age. I'm already 40years, counting on Education, Ielts years of experience to build my CSR scores scores.

what else can help me.

Thank you
Because of your age (assuming both of you), you need all the help you can get.
So both should max out on ielts and do credential assessment on highest qualification.

please do i need to evaluate mu hubby's credentials as well.? i'm the principal applicant, thank you
Go to the CRS calculator tool and add/remove your husband's education to see the effect on your total score. If it gives you an edge then evaluate it. But if your score is like 460 without his education then no need (same for his ielts).

Please house I have Bsc, MBA and CIPM, I'm i suppose to evaluate all with WES?
Do just your MBA because an MBA score is higher than 2 or more certificate score.
Also you will save time and money.

40manlappy and anyone who knows should kindly answer....
Does the ECA evaluation report affect the score from the CRS tool? Our projected score is 439...I'm afraid with the score for today and birthdays coming up, hope for ITA is looking bleak..
It does.
That's if ECA comes as "not comparable to Canadian education", you can not claim points for such education.

Hello
Pls is there a thread or any WhatsApp or telegram group for Nigerian doctors on the Canadian immigration process?

Also can anyone connect me to a Nigerian (with a Nigerian medical degree) practising in Canada.
Thanks
My candid advice to you is for you to write your plan ist and go to the uk. When you start working and earning better than Nigeria, you can start the process and come to canada only when u are done with it and have a job.
Anything else might sometimes be counter productive except your purpose of immigrating has more to do with a better life for your kids than your career. Which canada is the surest bet.

Hello All,

I have a case that is still bothering me. My husband and i changed our Surname (based on our faith). As at then we didnt know we wld want to relocate to Canada wink. I know this is not an issue for me cos our marriage certificate and would suffice.

Our passport is still in the old name(change of name in Abuja for the man is a long thing.NB it is not correction of name). He has legal documents to the change of name though,

My worry is:
1. his certificates are in his old name, but
2. his bank accounts are in the new name
3. he has changed his name to the new name at his place of work. New name now reflecting in his confirmation letter and promotion letter.

do you think this my affect our application? will it raise a red flag? because they do not believe in change of name over there. if you like bear stone or water. smiley
Change of name is widely accepted here but for a different reason thou.....your prof can change name from EVE to STEVE and you have to be respectful and call former "her" Steve. So as long as you include your documentations you would be good to go. Also fill the former name in places that ask for alias or previous names used.

Good day e- family!..
I must commend all your effort in making this platform a reality. God's blessing to you all.
I have been following the thread of recent but am yet to see Nurses follow suit.
Is it that Nurses have their own route to follow separately like the Doctors and Pharmacist. Please clarify me on this, if am wrong.

I am a licensed registered Nurse/Midwife with Bachelors degrees in Nursing Sciences.
I have 4 years of experience together with my NYSC.
I tend to understand from the gurus in the house that the first step is getting IELTS General done and evaluation of degree.
My question is, after getting the required score band needed and my degree evaluated, should I go ahead and apply for the FSW through the EE?..
please, gurus in the house I await your response.
There is no special platform for nurses to immigrate. once you have completed ielts and credential assessment, feel free to dive into the pool(assuming you don't have aquaphobia and claustrophobia). lol

Hi All,

Am new on this section of the thread but not new on Nairaland. Been on the Canada student and visitor visa thread for a while. I have worked for one year in Canada as at January 30th and am ready to put in for my PR through CEC. I am reading through page 1 to catch up. Will be asking questions in the near future. I had my Ielts test last Saturday and have my WES evaluation completed already.

Giving back to the house-

I can help 1 to 2 people every month that wants to send a copy of their Certificate to WES at NO COST. I just spoke with a friends cousin that paid 14,000naira to DHL . People living here can also help out. It cost me $1.80 to send from Vancouver which is nothing. I will choose who to help at my discretion. If I don't respond to you, please know I have chosen someone.
you didnt need to complete wes for the CEC process. it is just your school certificate you need.

Hailings brethren!

What's the cheapest anyone has seen for Canada airfare?
It depends on how early you book your flight .....if booked 5mths early Ethiopian was like 278k (one way). Air Marco was also in the same range. But it can go as high as 800k to 1m plus for some airlines if booked within a week or 2.

Please I have a question about the travel history form.

Lets say I'm currently residing in the UK, and have made many trips to Nigeria, Australia, China and back to the UK. I only need to reflect the trips to China and Australia on the form right? (because it says to include trips made outside of country of residence and origin).
do you mind me asking why you want to leave the uk?

Great nurses! Beautiful thread here.

I have a question I have been itching to ask and I pray I can get the answer here. Thank you. Question is does IQAS ECA agency assess the RN,RM diploma obtained in Nigeria as comparable to a Canadian diploma?
use iqas...heard they do give it as 2 cert

Gurus and Chairmen in the house, you've been so helpful.
Please I have a few questions.

1. Can I be enlightened on how nurses with RN,RM qualifications from Nigerian schools of nursing do ECA for Canadian express entry.

2. Which is the easiest ECA agency for RN,RM in terms of most favourable assessment? WES or IQAS?

3. Do RN,RM meet educational criteria for Canadian express entry?

4. Is there any Nigerian nurse here with RN,RM who has successfully got ITA or PR?
there is one on the express entry thread and he used IqAs

@ the bolded...are you for real...Which advice are you looking for again...please quickly forget about this your Biochemistry thingy...from your grades you don't have affinity for it (in my opinion o). I'd look into furthering my studies in Computer Science if I were you as you even have the work experience as well...I believe you can sell your equipment
I really do respect your zeal to make your life better in a country that doesn't help like ours.
But this is your chance to leave all that behind. Canada has a wonderful immigration system but professional integration is very poor. They dont play well with other educational backgrounds. In some cases even education from the US. So please don't let this be an issue to worry about. Just jejely come and start your life afresh and it's gonna get better day after day.

Thanks for the quick response I really appreciate you. PhD duration is minimum 3years and Maximum 5 years in my school. I finished the MPhil from same school so I kinda have everything in place - Supervisor, research topic and familiarity with the process from A-Z. So I believe I shouldn't be spending more than that 3 years on it, God willing. I just have this silent fear that having a PhD from 9ja MIGHT be useless in Canada.
It's not might be .....it is. My pastor has to do another MSC presently.

Good morning dear e-fam. Please I need you guys to put in your 1 and 2's in something that has been troubling me recently. I just got admission to start my PhD here in 9ja and am currently sitting at IP2 with Nov AOR. MED taking on 30th Oct. So if I am issued PPR I should have till then to leave 9ja. Should I go ahead with the PhD studies or I should ignore the admission knowing fully well that I can't complete it without going and coming back to 9ja? I can't even predict what life in Canada will be like (As in can I do the PhD there with my 9ja degrees -Bsc-Msc-Mphil (Biochem.)). I know life in Canada will be job first, two or more years later school matter could follow and Only God knows. Please I need your candid advice
I think it's better to stay in canada and staring to arrange your life little by little. Going back for your phd will most likely not be of any relevance in canada.
You would be better off landing and trying to figure out the pathway to your career here in canada rather than accumulating more "most times irrelevant" degrees.
